Nitya chuckled. "He is a bit of a nob," he admitted. "But his leaving is also in part because, as his honorary older brother, I have to tease him at least a bit. Before he left, it was the only way I could get him to show real expressions. He is a funny child when he is flustered." He sighed a little in disappointment. "Though it was rather lonely around the others without him. Most of them were as shallow as Salil pretended to be."

"Shinies?" Nitya glanced down at the shell necklace around his neck. "Then I will have to hope that this doesn't count as a shiny, should I ever encounter them. I would rather not have it ripped from my neck." Probably after failed attempts to get it through other means. It was a simple necklace, but it was one of the few things that Nitya considered precious to him.

"I think your shell is safe, they prefer gold, silver, bottle caps, aluminum, tin...metallic things." She had watched Kivosk carry a pile of ladies broaches home once, odd stallion. "In any case I don't think they would steal it from you, although I don't know where Kivosk got those broaches from, he could have traded it for gold coins, he had an abundance of them. Lovely but girlie."

"I prefer forest based jewelery myself. A nice wood pendant to remind me of my old home would be nice, I should look for one at the next market."

"Have you any idea where this Salil is? Maybe you should check up on him to make sure he remains safe?"

"That's a relief. I would rather avoid such situations." They were just too messy for Nitya. He chuckled about the comment about the girlie broaches that Kivosk collected. "To each his own," he replied. "One Azrein's trash is another's treasure." He had some odd quirks himself--and Salil had even more--so he couldn't really judge this Kivosk on his taste in collections.

"Your old home? Did you live by a forest, Miss Cale?" he inquired curiously. He also made a note in the back of his mind to keep an eye out for a wood pendant; he doubted he could manage making one himself, but maybe he could trade something for one.

"I have heard a few rumors that are likely him and his friend, but I haven't looked into them yet." Nitya shrugged. "I thought I would let him have his space before I go pestering him and making sure he hadn't gone completely shallow on me. I do not worry so much about his physical safety as his mental health. Our herd made him a little... odd, I suppose you could say? Though I am hardly one to talk; they left their mark on me as well."

"I did yes, at the moment I am out adventuring I guess you could call it. I do miss my home though, the music the wind made as it made its way amoung the trembling leaves in the morning, the constant babbles of the spirited little streams trickling by on their way to the river, the rabbits, the squirrels the deer. It is a magical place but I find it was rather low on interesting company. Sadly I don't blend in so well out here in the open, but there are definitely more azrein around. The northern forests where i dwelt for a while are not for everyone."

She sighed wistfully, she longed to feel that beauty again, maybe she would have to visit soon. However she had just met someone rather intriguing.

"Kind of you to keep Salil in your mind but be patient with him. I miss my sister too."

Nitya smiled as she described her home. "It sounds like a wonderful place," he replied. "My home was wherever the herd traveled, but I always felt most peaceful around Sandar Lake. Something about the salty air and the crashing of waves has always been very soothing to me." He glanced northward. "I keep meaning to head north, but I have been hesitating. I suppose some of my mother's bitterness was passed on to me." He paused, then shook his head again and showing that sheepish smile. "I apologize. I'm rambling..."

Nitya nodded to her advice about Salil. "I will attempt to be patient," he agreed. "Though I imagine he will pale at the mere sight of me regardless, as he will expect an impatient reaction."

Welp, now that the idle chatter was over and they had gotten to know each other and she decided he wasn't wacko, might she be brave enough to ask that all meaning question...How you doing? Or rather...

"Would you like to visit Sandar Lake with me sometime? I feel I haven't been around large bodies of water much and it might be nice to have a guide." Especially one this handsome.

Nitya blinked once before nodding. "I would be honored to be your guide, Miss Cale," he replied. Smiling, he added, "Perhaps we shall see my... vagabond brother there as well." There was no guarantees, though; he wasn't sure if Salil was really there or not. But it was Nitya's best guess, so he could hope.

(small time skip)

Arriving at the lake Cale frolicked right into the cool, calm waters of the crystal blue lake, she was stunned by its beauty and how when the sun hit the sandbar just right how much the water looked like Nitya. She wondered if he was still that color if he got wet too. "Care to join me oh swirly one?" She asked him playfully, leg deep in the water.

Nitya had been content to watch Cale prance into the water and take in the beautiful sight of the lake when she turned and spoke to him. He chuckled, bowing and just as playfully replying, "How could I refuse the invitation of the winged queen of green swirls? I would be delighted to join you, Milady Cale." He straightened and trotted into the water, happy to cool his hooves and begin to soak in the familiar waters. He smiled at Cale as he joined her leg-deep in the lake. He was still keeping a tight lid on the trove of compliments that he wanted to give the hwe, as he wasn't sure she would accept them. It still fascinated him that someone could ever reject such a stunning mare.

"Hmm your fur is darker when you are wet," she splashed at him sweetly trying to make patterns on his coat. "Don't hold still to long in this water Nitya I won't be able to see you."

It felt good getting to be this playful, she hadn't gotten to do so for a long, long time it seemed like. She felt a few of the chains fall away and she felt lighter, did everything have to be so serious as quests and spells and everything? Well no they didn't. She meant to soak up the sunshine and just enjoy everything.

Nitya chuckled, lightly splashing her back. "So is yours," he pointed out, unable to prevent the smile from spreading across his face. Cale's playful attitude was contagious. At her second comment, he quickly pranced about her. "Goodness me, we can't have me disappearing! I would be a poor guide if I did that!" Tossing his head and sending water droplets flying from his mane, he added, "Guides are meant to be seen!"

She grinned up at him. "Especially guides as handsome as you." She chewed a lip...had she just fallen into her own trap? Then again he made her feel more herself then she had felt well ever, always stoick with her sisters, letting that daring hidden part of her peek out with Night Ivory only to get crushed at some point after that. But here, now with this Nitya of the blue swirled coat, she felt her heart take off from its bird cage prison. She felt free and happy. And so far he had minded his own self, not pressuring her, letting her test the waters as it was. It was so nice.

"Thank you for bringing me here Nitya." She hopped after him, it felt a bit like dancing but in water. "I haven't had this much fun in forever."

Nitya dipped in a bow once more, his nose nearly touching the water. "You flatter me, Miss Cale," he replied cheerily. As he straightened, he saw her chewing her lip. Was something wrong, or perhaps it was simply a habit? He tilted his head slightly but said nothing until the breathtaking mare spoke again.

"No need to thank me," he said modestly. "A guide is merely the map; I simply led the way to your chosen destination. If anything, I should be thanking you." He smiled warmly at the mare as they pranced about each other. "A map doesn't do one much good without a destination in mind,"

"Well Mr. Map, where to after our little dip? Scaling mountains, crossing deserts, navigating oceans?" She giggled. "Or perhaps a cozy night by a fire." Oops, had she said that out loud, well she always had liked listening to stories.

"I do like to hear tails of adventure, having gone on my own rescently I kind of know what its like. Bathing for example is a most luxurious passtime on an adventure. But perhaps thats not the best tail for around a campfire." Her eyes crinkled in mirth.

Why did she have to say such tempting things? Nitya chuckled, clinging to his restraint. "Well, my dear Miss Adventurer..." He paused to fix his sparkling gaze on Cale. "That would be up to you. He bowed again, but straightened when wet bangs flopped into his face. Flipping them back after a few failed attempts, he continued, "I will take you wherever you wish to go."

"Tales of adventure? I'm afraid mine would be dreadfully boring. I have found that I am not a particularly exciting traveler." He laughed at the bathing comment. "Nonsense, it's the best tale to tell around a campfire. A simple tale that reminds us of the beauty in life's simple pleasures," he replied in his teasingly dramatic way. He hoped that he could spend more time with her; this playful conversation was another of life's simple pleasures.
