Silver thought about the townspeople and figured they wouldn't chase the cat around town. No, rather, they'd offer her some salmon so they could sit down and talk to her. The town was filled to the brim with weirdos, so he believed she would have been safe. However, when she mentioned her other form, it peeked his interest, though he didn't say anything. The sorcerer would ask her later. The cat's other form was most likely caused by a spell cast on her by her previous master, the old wizard that passed away several years ago. Nothing went unnoticed in Kuro Shiro, the town was too small, and the people too strange.
In the meantime, Silver continued discussing the Familiar Contract with Mrs. Kitty. "One of my ex-girlfriends is a tiger, so I know a thing or two about cats, and I know, from reading, more than a few things about familiars. But no, I've never had a pet, much less a familiar." The sorcerer thought about his ex, Alexis Theron, and cringed. She nearly killed him for cheating on her, but it wasn't his fault. She was a bore with her teenager angst and rebelliousness and all. He was better off dating her as she was back in the fifth grade. The girl couldn't get a real personality, at least she was more realistic back in grade school.
The young sorcerer smiled down at Mrs. Kitty and scratched her behind the ears. She was a much better companion than Alexis, and cuter, too. "Familiars aide their witches, wizards, sorcerers, what have you, in their spell casting, daily life, etc. They are the companions of magic users and often their closest allies," he continued in reciting what he memorized from books in the manor's library. "Just as familiars are magic users closest allies, the latter are as well and must uphold their end of the contract. Witches, wizards, and sorcerers must maintain the physical and mental health, well-being, and love of their familiar. Those who sacrifice their familiars, or the familiars of other magic users, commit a taboo act and will result in becoming outcasts within the magical community. Such outcasts form dark magical unions and cause havoc. No sensible familiar will contract him- or herself with a dark witch, wizard, or sorcerer. Did I miss anything?" As Silver concluded what he knew, he sat Kitty down on the grand piano and took a seat at its keys.

Mrs. Kitty listened patiently, making approving nods as he spoke. "Yes, you have the textbook definition to to 'T'." She praised him, as she moved over to the piano. "However with my last master, I was more of a care-taker for him. Poor man would have forgotten his head of it wasn't attached, but he was brilliant with magic. An odd combination."
She hopped up to the top of the piano, sitting on the edge above the keys, so she could see his hands, her tail dangling down. "Do you play?" She asked him. "I love music, especially piano. And knowing how to read and play music compliments magic very well, I think." Her amber eyes looked at him.
I wonder when his father will arrive, to make the contract official. Silver will my my Master, but I will have to get to know his family as well, if I am to work with him.

Silver started running his fingertips along the piano keys before he began the first few note of a piece by Clara Schumann, letting the sound of the notes drift through the air as answer to Kitty's question. "Kitty, you're brilliant and kind, I'm sure your late master appreciated all you did for him, even if he wasn't in his right mind all the time." Silver's fingers continued to dance along the piano keys as he played Schumann's restored version of Brahms's D minor concert. It wasn't too hard for him after years of piano lessons.
The young sorcerer lost himself in the music for a moment before he spoke again. "Knowing how to read and play music has never helped me, Kitty. I'm seventeen and I can't even perform the most basic of spells without them just failing. They don't even blow up in my face. They just fizzle out without so much as a little spark. The only honor I can give my family is with my academic standings." He sighed as he stared back into the beautiful eyes of the talking cat. "Kitty, I would be grateful for any help I can receive to improve my magic." As he spoke, he felt a buzz of electricity pass through the room, the tell his father was here, or almost to Silver's location.
The sorcerer stopped playing, shut the lid on the keys, and stood up just as the door knob turned. Silver stood tall as Juan held open the door for the master of the house: Raphael Sanchez V. Silver's father was a tall and heavy-set Hispanic man, his black hair short and trim, his mustache the same, his skin burnt ember, and his eyes harlequin green, the color Silver inherited. He was a proud man who walked confidently wherever he went, even in a room full of enemies. His father was a fearless man. He was also an impatient man sometimes, too. "Silver, I heard from Juan you and a talking cat wish to be partners." His father stared at Kitty, his expression telling he didn't believe a cat could speak human tongue, but knowing anything was possible in Kuro Shiro. Silver cleared his throat and bowed his head to his father. "She and I have come to an agreement to form a contract. 'No' is not an answer either of us, Tomás, Emilia, or Joaquín are willing to accept." The young sorcerer let it up to Mrs. Kitty to explain herself. She was not a hapless creature, she managed to survive his siblings and the manor staff, so it wouldn't be difficult to convince his father to authorize a Familiar Contract with the enchanted feline.

"I will help you." Mrs. Kitty vowed, just as she too felt the fizzle of energy in the air. She watched as Silver's father entered the room, proud as a hawk. She imagined that if she were not a cat, but a human or other creature, she would have felt intimidated by this man. But she was a cat and therefore not easily intimidated. Her mother could stare down a dragons glare and taught her to be proud as she faced any creature, for cats were noble and strong.
She she met the man's proud eyes with her own, not bothering to get up from her seat on the piano as she addressed him. Besides, he was already taller then she. "What your son says it true, I have offered him a contract, which he intends to accept. You may have heard of me and my previous Master, Helios. I am an experienced Familiar trained by my mother, and I shall not bring shame to your family, nor will I fail your son." Her eyes watched his, daring him or anyone else to defy her.

Silver held his breath as he waited for his father's reply. It felt like ages passed as the silence grew, but it was only a few seconds despite how it felt. Kitty would be a good familiar, she was intelligent, kind, and mature. Her previous experience and general history made her an obvious choice. Hell, his father even knew of Helios the wizard and probably attended the old man's funeral for all he cared. "I need her by my side, Papá." Silver stared at his father, pleading with him to accept Mrs. Kitty's offer. His father looked from him to Kitty and smiled. "Very well. María, mi corazón, come out from hiding. Tomás, Emilia, Joaquín, all of you." As he said their names, one by one, Silver's stepmother, his three half-siblings, and the manor's full-time staff members came out of hiding. His stepmother and siblings poked their heads into the open door frame from right side of the main hallway while the maids and chief poked their heads in from the other side. Behind Silver, he heard the clacking of a ladder against the outside wall and looked over to see Miguel peeping through the window. The door where Silver's siblings made their earlier exit contained the Señora Ortiz and Señora Pablo behind it. The manor really was a family affair. Every member of the staff was somehow related to the Sanchez family, whether through marriage or through distant blood relations. In addition, they were all very close. He didn't know what he would do without his family. He grinned at everybody, happy to see them being their nosy selves.
Silver's father sighed, but chuckled despite himself. It really was a family affair and Silver doubted his father would want it any other way. And so, without further ado, he cleared his throat and clapped his hands several times before addressing the gathered household. "Señora Navarrete, please prepare a special dinner for this occasion. Take Señorita Juana and Señorita Isidora with you. We will all feast tonight to celebrate this special occasion. Juan, please prepare the materials for the contract. Everyone else, return to your duties until dinner is ready." All the staff members took their leave with his father's orders while cheering with everyone over his father's decision. Young Joaquín seemed the happiest out of their bunch as he ran into the room and hugged Silver around the waist. Their father laughed as the rest of their family came to congratulate Silver and Mrs. Kitty. Silver's stepmother greeted Kitty. "Welcome to the family, Señorita Gatoa. I hope you will love it here as I have." She held out her hand to Mrs. Kitty, asking for permission to pet her while the others chatted away. Silver grinned. "We will never be boring, Mrs. Kitty. I promise." The sorcerer scratched the pretty black cat behind her ear while laughing and chatting with his family.

Mrs. Kitty nodded with satisfaction at Silver's father's words. As everyone came from hiding she laughed lightly, she hadn't heard all of them, only a few. This family was going to be interesting, to say the least. While she would be Silver's Familiar, and his alone, she would have a certain responsibility to the whole family as well, so she was glad she liked them.
She stepped forward to rub her head against Silver's stepmother's hand. "Thank you, Señorita. I look forward to it." Her voice turned to a purr when Silver began petting her. "I can see that you won't." Her tail swished happily, the bell on her collar tingling as it swayed with her. "About this supper we're planning, will there be fish?" She asked, licking her lips. She hadn't eaten since she hunted a bird yesterday, and she was beginning to be hungry again.

Silver chuckled as his mother cooed over Kitty, obviously in love with the pretty feline. He would have a hard time keeping her to himself. No matter, he would find a way, like he always did. It was just a matter of plotting. "Kitty, my dear, we will have food better than fish for you. After tonight's dinner, you won't be able to move for the rest of the night." His mother spoke in Spanish to him, asking about if he planned on taking Kitty around town and introducing her to his friends so they wouldn't be surprised about her. Silver suppressed the urge to flinch at the suggestion. He really didn't have friends outside of his family and the manor staff. The other sorcerers and sorceresses looked down on him, and he knew that witch Malak thought he was a womanizer as bad as Axel. Despite the witch being anti-social, she wasn't skilled in masking her opinion of him. Then he had his string of ex-girlfriends... Silver didn't have friends.
However, Silver couldn't say that to his parents or siblings, all the other sorcerer families knew Silver got along with their children, but nothing passed that. "Silver, go into town. Have fun. Dinner won't be ready for awhile. In fact, children, you all have the day off." Silver's father grinned at them as ruffled his younger sons' hair before wrapping one arm around his wife's waist. Silver's mother laughed. "I will call you once dinner is ready. Go out and have fun." As his siblings cheered and ran out of the house, shouting the names of friends they were going to visit, Silver simply smiled and thanked his parents before they left the room as well.
Alone, Silver said to Mrs. Kitty, "Let me grab my backpack so you can ride inside. Then we'll go to town and get you something to eat while waiting for the food. I'm sorry I didn't notice you were hungry earlier." The sorcerer gently rubbed one of Kitty's velvety ears as he crouched down to her eye level. "Sorry. I won't let it happen again." With his family gone, Silver was more serious, far less flamboyant, and more thoughtful. He smiled at little at his new friend and familiar who he had a duty towards. He wouldn't let her down.

Mrs. Kitty purred in response to supper. A feast sounded with up her ally. After a nice meal, and the contract was made, she's find a soft warm place to curl up and have a cat nap. She had enjoyed being a wild cat for a little while, but she'd been too pampered by Helios, and had never gotten over her love of fine foods that didn't run away and soft places with patches of sunlight to lay in. "Thank you very much." She dipped her head quickly to Silver's parents, and leaped gracefully from her perch on the piano to the floor.
She was about to suggest to Silver she could walk in her human form if he wanted, but a backpack ride sounded might nicer, so she rubbed her back against his legs. "That sounds lovely."
Her eyes searched Silver's as he bent down to apologize. "It's alright, I have two eyes and four paws and a mouth. If I am hungry, I can feed myself, or else let you know." She raised her head and tail proudly, flexing her claws to show off her hunting weapons. "But thank you." She sat down then, waiting for her Master to go retrieve the backpack, so they could head out.

Silver smiled at Kitty and kissed her cute little forehead. "I'm glad I've finally got a friend." The sorcerer stood up and waved at the enchanted cat as he walked out the door and to his bedroom.
It was a quick trip, though Silver had to dig his backpack out of his closet and empty it of his useless contents before filling it with useful items such as two light-weight spell books, enchanted bracelets, and ready-made potions to use. He didn't make the potions, he convinced his brothers to give them their finished products so he could test them out without their parents knowing. Smiling to himself, he tucked a few more important items into the backpack before packing a few articles of clothing on top of everything else. He didn't want Kitty having an uncomfortable ride.
Satisfied by his packing, Silver lifted his backpack on his shoulders and returned to the music room. The sorcerer greeted the cat with a wide grin as he knelt down. "Ready, princess?" he asked.

"I'm glad for you." Mrs. Kitty purred in response, and waited for him to pack up all his belongings. While she waited, she groomed herself. First, her belly fur, then her paws, and finally she licked one paw and wiped it across her face. She looked at her reflection on the piano and curled her tail up with happiness and approval, just as Silver re-entered the room.
"Whenever you are," she replied happily, hopping lightly into the backpack on his back. She curled up lightly on the clothes he'd put on top, appreciating the soft cushion, and poked her head out of the open pocket. "All set back here, Captain!" She laughed lightly.

"Aye, First Mate Kitty Claws. Onward we go!" Grinning, Silver scratched Kitty behind the ear once more before heading out the manor with his new beautiful and furry feline companion. Adventure—and food—awaited them in town, he hoped it wasn't too overwhelming for them.

[enter Mrs. Kitty, and tiny time-skip] Kitty looked at herself in the mirror, liking what she saw despite not being in her beautiful cat form. She's picked a dress That was elegant, attractive, and still allowed her the freedom to move around unlike most human clothing. For her mask, she had seen this cat mask at the store, and it had been too fun to resist. Other then that, simple back heels and her black hair half tied behind her head to show dangling diamond earrings (clips ons of course!), and half flowing down her back in curls. "Silver, I'm ready when you are!" She called, fastening the last earring on.

[Enter Silver from the Town's Square.]
Upon his return home, Silver was ushered into his room to change into his suit and tie for the Familiar Contract Ceremony, which went well despite his excitement and nervousness. It was his first time partaking in such an important ceremony, and he felt exhilarated. He couldn't stop talking about it to Kitty afterwards until he and their parents, along with Juan and most of the staff (Señora Ortiz was babysitting Tomás, Joaquín, and Emilia for the night) readied themselves for the masquerade ball.
The suit Silver wore was the same one he wore for the ceremony, though this time, he styled his hair for the occasion and wore black-plated silver black diamond earrings (the plating was enough so it wouldn't cause him an allergic reaction) and his favorite black Tungsten-and-ceramic ring. As he looked at himself in the mirror, the sorcerer thought he looked handsome, well, more so than normal. He didn't like parties too much, but this was an open-invitation party, which meant he had people besides the other sorcerer's children to speak to. So long as he avoided his ex-girlfriends, he would be fine.
So when Kitty announced she was ready, Silver turned to face Kitty, who had gotten dressed in the same room as him—it was awkward at first, but he got over it because she was a cat first, then a familiar, and not a human—and thought she looked gorgeous. "Well, if you're ready, then let's head out." His father had sent him a text saying he and the others were ready, and he was waiting for him in the family car. The staff left in their own vehicles to get ready for the party if they didn't live in the house.

Kitty smiled at Silver, and looked him over. "Well don't you look handsome." She purred, and looped her arm through this. If she was going to do this party thing as a human, she was going to do this right. "I think I'll let you be my escort." She laughed.
