Ripley stored away the information he was receiving, and found himself grudgingly believing it. He didn't want to; he wanted someone tangible to blame now, not an unknown face that decided to spawn convincing clones for an equally unknown reason. It wasn't as immediately satisfying. He still wanted to punch something, but Taym was now off-limits, and there was nothing else around.

"They're strong now. At least the one I ran into. It regenerated faster than I could wound it." He looked away again, focusing on the horizon instead of the trembling, grief-stricken hunter in front of him. This situation wasn't fair; he had attacked an innocent man for reasons that were, ultimately, well beyond any measure of his control. Somewhere along the line communication had failed, but if what Taym was saying was true - and he was grudgingly inclined to believe it was - he couldn't have known. Nobody did. Golems were supposed to be weak, for recon not battle. This was indeed the work of someone else.

"It was also selling FEAR candies to the students." He added as an afterthought; it wasn't important in the long run but it was something of note. "If that means anything to you." There was another long pause as he stared away from the situation, until yet another thought dawned on him.

"You can't leave it to the higher ups to get this out, you know that, right? They're ******** useless." It was an obvious point, but one he really needed to say out loud, for everyone's sake. To prevent another Holly from happening. "I named you in my report, but you're still here." It served as the proof that neither of them needed, because they already knew.

"Before I transferred out of Death," said Taym, his unsteady fingers giving him obvious trouble despite the fact that he pressed on, "I had ******** dream of a specialization that maybe I could remedy that. The ********' useless thing, I mean, when it comes to information. Because no one here is informed. And I'm working on it again and I just--"

Failed. Miserably.

Ripley glanced back at Taym and the way his trembling hands tried to work the phone, and for a moment he felt better; there was someone else there, having as hard of a time with this as he was. It must have been quite a shock to hear, likely almost on par with experiencing; he hoped to never be in the other man's shoes.

"Here's your motivator." He said, as if he had just finished handing it out on a platter. Ripley's shaking hands found their way into his pant pockets, one gripping the phone whose messages he for some reason refused to check, and lapsed into a troubled but thoughtful silence. There were things he could mull over now, something else to focus on that didn't involve seeing red, or hearing the death gurgles of someone he saw as a child. It was also considerably more helpful in the long run than physical violence; though that had been somewhat gratifying in its own way, it wouldn't - and didn't - ease the issue.

"If I can help, let me know." Ripley offered at length, also refusing to look at Taym now unless he had to. "Please." Anything to minimize the casualties of those on the outside.

"I'll be in touch," he said, grim and tired. And he meant it: he'd added Ripley's name to the small but growing internal list of people who might be useful, and more than that, people who might care. A pause, and then, without looking up from his screen: "Thanks for not dragging me out of the wards and killing me." There was absolutely no sarcasm in it. "I would have, in your shoes."

"Good." Ripley replied, his voice becoming more flat as the anger was drained from him and slowly replaced with the weighted feeling of guilt and exhaustion.

"You're welcome." Honestly, he hasn't been aware that dragging someone outside of the wards was an effective thing to do. If he had, he may have done just that; but thankfully, for Taym's sake it seemed, his ignorance saved a life. A questionably innocent life of course, but a life nonetheless. "Guess I just wanted answers." Which was not something you could get from a dead man, at least not the kind of answers he was after.

It was also pretty clear at this point that he was not going to apologize for his rather sudden attack.

"I'm going back to the infirmary." He announced, though he wasn't quite sure why, considering he had no intention of going there and every intention of going back to his room to sleep away the next two days. "Keep in touch." It was more of a demand than out of concern. Once he was rested he would figure out what to do from here, considering everything he knew to be true had been horribly skewed.
