Kettil let out a short laugh at Hel's words, "Yeah it's real! And it is part me and Freya. It is the best most wonderful thing. It was a wonderful thing going to pick him out. So many pumpkins and..." He had no qualms chattering, quite happily, about the process and how wonderful it was. Kettil was, in every respect, the perfect image of a glowing happy father. His face was all lit up with pride and he just ... permanently wore a smile now that he was close to the pumpkin that he and Freya fed their FEAR into.
"I mean... He's still.. brewing in there but he's ours...and a perfect start to our new life outside of school." He murmured softly glancing over at Freya now as if to non-verbally assure her that everything will be okay.
"If you want to take a closer look?" He glanced over at Hel despite the odd looks she seemed to be giving the pumpkin.

The idea of Peder brewing made Freya let out one relieved laugh, because Kettil always had a way with words that amused her. She bent down and put her hands around the pumpkin, cooing at it obnoxiously. "They says he is goings teh hatch any day now, yeh can feels him sometimes kicking if yeh puts yehr hands on it, thats how big he is! Ready teh burst, and as strong as his papa. Come-" She reached out and snatched Hel's hand, pulling her closer and pressing the hand against the pumpkin. "Just wait, he'll kick for yeh if yehr patient. Won't yeh little baby? Yes yeh will yes yeh will~"

Why no, Kettil, Hel did not want to touch the pumpkin. She thought if she did some kind of FEAR transfer would happen and she did not want any part of tha-- "ACK!" Hel's eyes widened as Freya snatched her hand, and she was too late to resist her sister's pull. "Freya, NO--!" Then the pumpkin was underneath her palm, and Hel immediately froze. She stared down at her hand on the pumpkin, still looking like she was worried about touching the pumpkin because of FEAR transfer, but at the same time... The reaper's fingers twitched a bit before they lightly rested on the pumpkin. "It feels..." She trailed off for a moment. "Alive." She offered lamely, but wasn't sure how else to put it right now.

"Yes! It is ourssss," he said dreamily. "You wanna be here when it hatches? It is quite the event! My mom and dad let me watch my sister's come out of the pumpkin, it was pretty cool." Only Kettil would find any of this cool. Possibly Freya would as well. If he was worried about Hel accidentally transferring any of her FEAR it didn't show at all. He just beamed with pride and watched, "You'll be the proudest Auntie, just wait and see." So many promises just for one pumpkin.

"That's because it is alive," Freya teased, watching her sister's reaction transform. It was only a moment later when Peder banged against the pumpkin wall, and Freya looked up at her sister, wide eyed and gasping with pride. "Did yeh feels that one?" She recalled the first time she'd felt the little life in the pumpkin move, and the way she'd screamed to get Kettil to come and join her. It was just a light flutter then, but her arms had been so tightly wound around Peder, humming as she rocked the pumpkin gently, and there was no doubt what she'd felt. But now, now that he was fully formed and just waiting to burst out of his little pumpkin home, Peder was kicking up a storm. There was no denying the hard thumps that knocked on the pumpkin walls, right against Hel's hand every few seconds or so.

Hel shot a dubious look at Kettil, and then a glare at her sister for poking fun at her. Being the youngest of nine, she never had to deal with pumpkins...ugh. Still too weird. She was still in disbelief-- The reaper let out a surprised yelp as there was a bang against the pumpkin, followed by another, and then another. WEIRD! The reaper ended up putting both of her hands on the pumpkin, as if she was trying to hold it down before it would leap out of its crib. "W-what is it doing!?"

Kettil let out a small happy sound as the being in the pumpkin began to actively kick and kick, "Hey! I think he likes you!"
The Muut was very helpful and supportive.
"Though this has been the most active I have seen him be in a while..." Kettil rubbed his chin thoughtfully. This was the man that knew all the right things to say to an already panicked Valkyrie struggling to make sense of the ongoing situation.

"Me too," Freya answered. "I've never felts him kicks like this. He must knows who is touchings him! He wants to meets his Auntie! Is that whats yeh wants, Peder?" She coo'd at the pumpkin, leaning in to press her lips against it. "Yeh wants teh comes out and meets yehr Auntie and shows her how teh smiles again?" An answering kick made her squeal with laughter, but that laughter died when she realized what she was looking at on the spot of the pumpkin where the kick had occurred. The rind was bruised, in that small space. Bruised, and cracking. She shot up straight and stared, all amusement (and blood) fleeing her face.

There wasn't any amusement to leave Hel's face in the first place, but the blood draining her own face was on par if not more than Freya's as she stared at the spot where the pumpkin was bruising as well. The reaper immediately snapped her hands away from the pumpkin as if it had burned her, and just stared at it with wide eyes. Oh Jack. It didn't take her FEAR did it!?

Kettil at times was not the brightest candle on the cake, nor was he the fastest when reacting to certain events. Freya's laughter died. Hel snapped her hand away. Both of them looked pale, but Kettil kept smiling unfaltering like an idiot.
Hey guys what's going on in this here threa--Oh.
OOOH.
He'd seen the crack long before he noted the bruise.
"O..Oh. .. . ! I .. Um.. I Um... WATER. WE NEED WATER RIGHT?!" Kettil suddenly moved to dash past the sisters to get water. "OR GLUE? WAIT..."

Despite how shocked Freya was, something inside of her snapped into action. Her instinct carried her through the next few moments, though she did lose it just once to screech out in horror "NO GLUE!" Otherwise, Freya bent in, pressing against the bruised area gently. Her touch just made the bruise spread, as the bright orange exterior of the pumpkin itself began to rot into something darker, and softer. And little Peder was taking advantage of that, kicking with strong little chubby legs to make more and more cracks in his prison walls. "Everyone, just.. just calms down. He's goings teh bes fightings with it for a while now, let's just all.." She was still white as a sheet, and her voice was wavering, but her eyes flickered up to her sisters, and her husbands, and then her face cracked into an emotional smile. Before she could finish the sentence, another loud cracking sound was heard, and a very chubby, tiny, seed-and-gunk covered foot was now sticking helplessly out of the top of the pumpkin.

What was happening: A beautiful miracle of a new life being born. What Hel was seeing: The reaper, luckily, wasn't in a panic. Yep. She was just frozen solid to her spot, her eyes wide in horror at the scene before her. Quiet as a church mouse. Which was saying a lot. Because it was Hel.

Kettil froze for a second when 'NO GLUE' was shouted. Wasn't this too soon? Wait. Wait. He'd witnessed his sisters being born. It was alright. Really. It was alright. The pumpkin had taken it's fill of fear and now was ready to hatch. Yes. Good. He was anxious to meet his baby.
Instead he moved to stand near Freya and Hel to watch the miracle. His expression of wonder was the very antithesis of the expression Hel was making. There was pride on his face, as well as a lot of happiness. That was his baby making it's way out.
Well.. Freya's too, but that went without saying.
"Lookathisfoot. Fight it out Peder!" He encouraged cheerfully trying to stop himself from helping the scarling out of the gunk and shell. "Isn't this amazing?!"
The question was put to both Freya and Hel.

If Kettil so much as reached for any of the pumpkin, Freya would have slapped him away. No one was going to help their son get out of his pumpkin, he was going to grow up strong from the very moment he was born. "FIGHTS IT OUT PEDER!" She screamed at the pumpkin, immediately slapping her hands against her mouth and giggling in the ridiculous high that was watching her baby be born. Hel seemed frozen, but at least she wasn't panicking, and for that Freya was proud. She wasn't panicking either - just getting far too excited over something this new and wonderful happening at this moment in their lives. She bounced on her heels, and let out a violent screech when the pumpkin actually cracked down the middle. Her hands started waving in the air, and suddenly she pushed Kettil hard. "GO GETS THE WATER AND A TOWEL HE NEEDS A TOWEL!-" Too late. The cracked pumpkin finally gave way, leaving half of a pumpkin sitting in the tiny bed, filled with seeds, guts, and a tiny, writhing little baby valkyrie boy. He wiggled, the squish of his body in the pumpkin filling the silence of the room. A cough - he spit out a seed - and then - "WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH-"

Despite being in the room with two other people, soon to be three, Hel was only focused on the pumpkin. At the moment, it was like Kettil and Freya didn't even exist. Freya and her loud mouth and enthusiasm and energy, and Kettil with his radiating paternal energy. Nope it just felt like it was Hel and her horror at this...this thing. Which was less of a thing and now more like a little being. Complete with little valkyrie wings. Hey wait...how did Freya know it was going to be a boil? Also, it was pretty rare her for to be having a male valkyrie-- The reaper winced heavily as Peder let out his first wail, and whatever trance Hel had been stuck in such touching the pumpkin was finally broken. She went rigid, and made a move forward like she wanted to go pick up Peder before she immediately stopped and scowled, looking over at her sister. She then shoved the older valkyrie towards the crib. "Do not just stand there, go comfort him!"
