And then he watched as she got roasted. WOW today just really wasn't her day.
... H-how did he even manage to make it past this as a trainee?
"Y-yah, that's the good thing about golems. Death... isn't permanent."
Though, on missions though...
He supposed one bad thing about this training mission (among many others), was that if one did it enough, they might desensitize themselves to the point that their unable to feel fear or pain, which would... really be disastrous for missions. Perhaps that was why they changed up the tiles every so often, and one could never expect what surprise each one held.
Fear was what kept one alive, and so it was with hesitation he took a step forward.
Maybe it was sheer luck, or maybe he was getting better intuition, but he managed to avoid meeting a horrible painful death.

"I...I guess that gets me use to a golem body...too." She smiled at Jake, albeit nervously and shyly.
She took her time studying the panels before making her move, nimbly jumping on to one of the squares. Nothing happened, so the mist huntress gave Jake a thumbs up.
"How many time...how many times have you done this Jake?" Noemi asked curiously, "C..Cause you're not really a trainee anymore so...so you've done this a lot right?"

Jake smiled at Noemi's enthusiasm, nodding.
"It does, doesn't it?"
At least, she seemed to be doing better.
"Uh..."
He gave Noemi a sheepish look.
"This is.... my second time doing it."
A hop and a step and he cleared the course. What a show off.
"I guess I just got lucky..."
Now if only he could have this kind of luck in missions, that'd be amazing.

She had the mindset of if you fall back down, keep getting up to try again. She had done the same for the sun course and though she never finished it, she had at least tried 4 times before giving up for another day.
But the death training, oh god. She wasn't sure if she could handle that much pain.
"L...Lucky." YEAH SURE JAKE YOU WERE JUST SO LUCKY.
She jumped to the next panel. At first she thought nothing had happened until she heard a distinct click. She felt the explosion rip her golem apart and she woke in the pod room.
Feeling just a bit sicker from the ringing pain, Noemi pushed herself out of the pod and put her head between her legs, breathing slowly. Jake would come back and she'd call it good for today.

Apparently he stole all of Noemi's luck. What a jerk.
He had hoped that it would have carried over to Noemi, but when the tile under her suddenly EXPLODED, Jake wondered if the tiles were rigged, or if she would have fared better without him. Maybe he shouldn't have scared her like that in the first place.
He waited for a bit, expecting Noemi to come back, bit when several minutes passed and there was no sign of the most trainee, he wondered of she had already left.
Deciding to check the pod room first, he was slightly surprised to see her out of the pod.
"Did you... um, did you want to keep trying?"

She held up her hand from between her legs.

Jake smiled, and ruffled her hair.
"Well, if you leave it be, you'll still have to come back to do it again later. I know it's tough, but if you don't give up, I'm sure you'll be able to get through it."
It felt weird that he was the one encouraging her, considering how much of a downer he used to be. It probably didn't help that he had finished this course out of sheer stubbornness before, as he hated the fact of losing to such a stupid course.
"And I'll be right here, so it won't be as lonely, if that helps."

The ruffle of her hair earned a very quiet snort, about the only time someone would ever hear the girl do anything that wasn't a nervous stutter or painful whimper.
Pushing herself into the pod again, she gave Jake a look.
"If you don't leave then..." She nodded at him, "You promise?"

Noemi closed the pod again, slipping back into the golem and waiting for Jake to join her. Once he had, she made a small sound.
"Okay...Okay le...let's try this again." She jumped on the panel, looking over her shoulder at Jake. "f...first one is good!"
She hesitated.
"Do you have a girlfriend Jake?" She bet he did, she hoped he did. Jake seemed like a good guy, she wondered what type of girl he would be with.

When the pod closed, Jake returned to the course, seeing Noemi already in a new golem. That's the spirit.
"Yup, just 4 more!"
He wasn't sure if saying that was encouraging or not, but she seemed to be doing well so far.
When she spoke again, he looked up, and flustered.
"I... do."

Noemi waited a moment.....
"Are you going to marry her?" She smiled up at him and hit the next panel. It gave away into a series of smaller panels that had her scampering for the top and balancing on the little stone like panels.

While the panels falling were a welcome distraction, he was glad to see Normi wasn't hurt... too much.
"I'm... not sure if I'm ready for marriage."

She gnawed on her lip.

She hopped to the next panel, smiling to herself as nothing happened and waiting for Jake's response.

Jake fidgeted, not used to being put on the spot about his love life, because really, it wasn't that important.
Though, at least it seemed to be taking the trainee's mind off the course, and she seemed to be doing better, so he supposed it was worth it.
