The flurry of fists sucked, even through the Fear shield. It felt like Peyton hit just the right spot of pain where she was bruised from some earlier training field asskicking. "Rough estimate -- 12 kilowatts, but the equivalent in fists." The runes on her weapon pulsed. "But hopefully I can make it more of a challenge." Hanna charged and slashed with Adelphe, aiming for a powerful blow. HP: 21/40 DMG: 0 CHG: 0/3 beejoux Feel free to have Peyton just deflect it since the attack missed~

To that estimate Peyton could only grin brightly. "That's a good thing, right?" Was their a conversion rate between watts and fists? Whatever else she might have wanted to say would have to wait. The runes on Hanna's weapon flared, and all of sudden the Death training was charging forward for what was sure to be a powerful blow. Planting her feet, Peyton lowered herself into a balanced crouch, waiting for the crash with both weapons raised and ready. She caught those acid green blades with the shriek of metal on metal, and the force was enough that, even with feet planted, she slid back a few inches before coming to a stop. "Impressive power," she breathed out, lips curling up in a feral smile before she pushed back, forcing the blades away from her, and catching the other girl's hands with her own sharp little blades in the process. The deflected force of her strike sent Hanna stumbling backward. She barely registered the pain in her hands. It was an odd feeling to realize that her Fear had been dissipated, not executed. Adelphe was not pleased at all either. But hey -- this sort of thing happened when sparring with a sun. Hanna had been in enough battles so far to understand counting. The success of Peyton's strikes were close to her own, and she had just failed to launch off her own Fear attack. That didn't mean Peyton wasn't going to try her own. "Impressive, oh right," she said, rolling her eyes playfully. The Lady was drawn in front of her in a defensive position, ready to block whatever might be thrown her way. "I haven't asked in awhile -- how are things with Noah?" Hanna never saw Peyton with Noah. Their entire relationship seemed an utter mystery. HP: 19/40 DMG: 0 CHG: 0/3 Defending for: 4

Peyton met Hanna's roll of eyes with a challenging look, though at the mention of Noah delicate features split into a goofy grin that made an actual response unnecessary, but that wouldn't stop her from gushing. "We're doing great!" < Nauseatingly.> Warrick's commentary received the snort it deserved, but she knew he was just giving her a hard time. The demon approved of Noah with her partner. "His birthdays coming up, I wanna make it amazing." Still beaming like the love-sick idiot she was, Peyton bounded in, going for Hanna's shoulder with a hit that would knock the other girl's arm back so her torso was left exposed, then came in with the other hand to deliver a powerful body shot. It made Hanna happy to see Peyton bubbling over with affection for Noah… but also jealous. Very much so. The closest thing Hanna had to a significant other was a deal with Jack to pretend to be his girlfriend to get his friends off his back — which was way more complicated since she sort of (read: totally) had real feelings for him (and which would have been more complicated if she had any inkling of the transgressions between Jack and Peyton, OH DEUS). The Death trainee felt pathetically excited about the arrangement, which were feelings she fought to choke down at every turn. Things were less complicated back in Maryland. Her mind was somewhere else, and Peyton was good in a fight. The one-two punch was extremely, and Hanna doubled over, skirting backwards to avoid further pummeling. She felt herself fading, a sickness washing in her stomach. Two hands reached up in surrender. “Okay, that’s enough pain for me today,” she said, unsummoning her weapon into twin bone earrings that she quickly wove through her earlobes. “I want to be able to keep enough dignity to walk off of the field on my own two feet.” A hand wrapped around her torso, massaging the spot where Peyton’s fist had landed especially hard. “So what are you going to do for him?” she asked, crossing to her bag and grabbing a water bottle. “If you don’t mind me asking.” HP: 10/40

The second Hanna yielded Peyton dropped that aggressive stance and let Warrick return the rings on her thumbs. It was like flipping a light switch, one moment dainty and dangerous, the next and she was back to smiling as she offered Hanna a hand. "Good fight." They'd known going it that it would be sort of one sided, but Hanna had still done really well. The shift of conversation back onto the topic of her love life had the Sun staring in bewilderment for a brief second before recalling what they'd been talking about while facing off against one another, "Oh. Um, yeah. I wanna get him a bonsai tree, he really loves plants." She knew he'd love it. "And I got him a replica of the ring we made together in wonderland." That one she was a little nervous about. It was, quite literally, a wedding ring. It had been a product of a shared dream. Wonderland had been both wonderful and awful, but one of the best parts in Peyton's opinion was her wedding to Noah in the cracked tea-pot. She'd also gotten a ring for America for her birthday. Friendship rings!

Hanna snapped the cap of her bottle back into place. "Sounds nice," she said between sips. Though Hanna had a few relationships prior to Deus, only a few of them were worth more than a second thought, or worth putting effort into a gift. It was easier to focus on improving her Hunter side, versus her personal one. Bending over, the Death trainee scooped up her stuff. "As always, appreciate the educational a**-kicking. Unfortunately, I have to hit the showers before reporting for coffee and paperwork duty in the name of Death." Hanna gave the girl a sideways smile and a salute and then trotted off across the field back to the dorms. beejoux I realized I left this hanging and thought I should wrap it up, whoops.
