roll: Lose an item.

Before even bothering to try on her own purchases she wanted to make sure that Edith's were taken care of and out of the way. It'd give the golem something to do other than buzz and make a goddamn fuss. Apparently she was in too much of a hurry, however, because one of the sports bras seemed to have fallen out of the bag. Cami, of course, wouldn't notice this until she smugly turned in what she thought was above and beyond the call of duty to find out that it was just adequate.

Of course she got a picture of Caelius trying on a bra over his clothes and once in the dressing room, Edith-golem clutching her bag like a good piece of strange technology, Cami went into a flurry. Several pictures of a scandalous nature were taken and forwarded.

Dressed back in her own clothing and having discarded several things that weren't really necessary and likely to just lie around in a drawer somewhere, she gave America a once-over. "Dear heart, if besotted and generous swain," here she rolled her eyes, "has any problem with that dress...well. He's got bigger problems than that dress let me just say that. It's magical on you." Admiration was clear as, once again, she readied a troop towards the register. "Isn't there an app for that? There has to be."

Having decided not to send selfies to Taym, America did send a few to Konstantin because he understood boob physics really well by now and always math'd her into the best support for the least amount of fabric. Cami's words had her adding a low, "Oh, and doesn't he just," under her breath before offering the other girl a grin.

"Thank you much, I appreciate your good taste. Taym was right, you're very sensible." Gathering her own purchases and the ones for Caelius, America eyes the pens on the counter and decided they weren't quite fancy enough to pass. They left with likely far more in pink bags than was strictly wise, but likely very much worth it.

The next store down was American Eagle, and seeing it America was filled with both glee and dismay, "I'm gonna have to do...so much fundraising after this." Konstantin would likely give her looks, later, but this s**t was hella cute and perfect for nice summer days.

"Oh...oh! I think there's some ties." The younger girl dashed off to the men's accessories and found one that was...black...ish. Good enough!

"Not bad."

Even the golem approved.

Taym? Had Taym and America talked about her? Cami wasn't entirely sure how well that sat on her but considering her interactions with the gaunt-looking Death hunter it couldn't have been bad. America had even said that he'd been saying nice things about her but still. A slight frown marred her face as Cami worked through how she felt about it as they moved between stores, shrugging it off as they entered one of her favorite stores in any mall. "Sensible when it counts which is all that matters, I suppose. If you asked Otto he'd just tell you I was a big dumb." This was said with enough affection that it indicated Cami did not mind Otto having this opinion; she likely had one of him in return.

America beelined for the ties and Cami was going to simply bury herself in shorts when she heard a mechanical-edged voice from behind her.

"Wait. I forgot something! We're going back."

Cami turned to stare at the Edith-golem as the simulacrum stared back at her blankly. "Are you kidding me?! We just got here and...uggghhh fine! America, I have to run back for a minute. Wait for me here?" Trooping back into Victoria's Secret she found that they had, indeed, forgotten something. Edith had only one bra in her bag, not two, and the poor sales girl faced with a receipt simply let them pick out another and leave asap.

Back in American Eagle, glaring at her golem companion, she caught back up with the Moon. "I hate these things. I swear they are just out to be difficult." Caelius actually seemed to be the most mild-mannered of all the golems or perhaps it was simply deceptive? "I hear you though, on fundraising. I'm going to be broke as a joke when we're done." She grinned. "My a**'ll look great though." And was that all that mattered?

Tiny shorts, tanks, and sundresses, oh my. It was a summer girl paradise, with pretty much everything on sale given the upcoming holiday. God bless America. By the time Cami came back, the girl was already trying on things for herself. Swinging her hips, America paid close attention to how well the hem of a light cotton dress swished against her thighs while Cami talked. Excellent.

Satisfied, she looked at the trainee's butt with great consideration, then back to the mirror. America attempted a bootypop motion before deciding, with as much grace as she was capable of, that she'd give the gold medal to Cami in this instance. "Gonna take you're ten up to twelve, huh?"

Grinning, she surveyed her intended purchases before pulling out her phone to check the time. "Hmmmm...what've you got left on your list? If we split up, we might get the rest done faster and have time to gorge on shitty mall food." The last was said with sincere fondness.

Enchanted by a pair of swaying hips in a sundress so thin as to be utterly criminal in the best way she let out a soft sigh of appreciation. The sigh turned into a laugh at America's popping motion, eyebrows raising. "Twelve or thirteen at least. Competition on this island is fierce." Though America needn't have worried that Cami meant to go after Taym or Kostya, oh no. All of that lighthearted flirting was for America's benefit alone. She would have gladly competed with Taym had the red thread of her current love life been a bit of a snarl.

One day.

Looking down at the list Cami shrugged a bit. "Sports stuff, mostly. There's a Champs, I think I saw, on a directory somewhere. If you have no interest in that we can definitely split up and then gorge on awful mall food. Did you hear that they're closing all the Sbarro's down? It's a national ******** tragedy." Where else could you get lamp-warmed, greasy pizza in a mall setting other than Sbarro's? Nowhere, that's where.

"Damn right it is," America agreed. There was a ridiculous amount of eye candy on the island and her general sentiment was that in this contest, pretty much everyone was a winner as far as she was concerned. Hotties from sea to shining sea. Glancing at a pair of shorts and back to Cami, America waggled her eyebrows, "Those ones might need to come with a warning though." She made a little squeezing motion with her hands.

Champs was actually kinda tempting, getting people into the town more often with a few games of baseball to go along with the bar opening soon...

Naw, she could do that next time, plus she could probably find something in the school gym.

"Right-o! I'm gonna have to hit a few, but I'll be fast as ******** and then I'm getting like, a dozen ******** Cinnabons." It was possible she intended to share them with people at home.

It was...possible.

Dashing off, holding the Caelius golem's hand and practically dragging him, America sped to the next stop on her list:

Sephora.

Must resist smelling all the things. Must resist smelling all the things. Must resist...

She found the hair removal products and winced at the price. Dang this s**t must make you smooth as a gently buttered dolphin...

America picked up one bottle for herself as well.

Caelius decided then and their that he wanted to have a little sit down at Starbucks, and the idea of him treating anyone to anything made her spend the entire time wary as ******** anything. The last time he'd seemed reasonable was a full minute before he'd tried to cut of her head so...

Edith was the most <******** forgetful golem on the planet. That or she was brokenly set on one setting which, considering what had happened in VIctoria's Secret, seemed entirely likely. Yet Cami was forced to backtrack all the way to American Eagle so that the golem could get her bearings before trudging back to the sporting goods store.

Edith hemmed and hawwed over two pairs of shoes that were the exact same save for the color before Cami managed to convince the golem that electric blue was totally going to make her run faster. Plus wasn't that their whole shtick and motif? Blue so hot it seared your retinas with some gold? They were perfect!

A baseball bat was causing her a bit of trouble but there was one conveniently propped in a display that was planned to be lifted without much trouble when Edith was trying on yet another pair of shoes. Had she been shopping for herself the redhead would have understood. Shopping for someone else?

Ugh. Well, at least it was going to provide a distraction.

Budget: $1000
Sports bra. 2x for $50 from VS
Baseball bat. 1x for $0 as it is stolen from a display brand-new.
Sports Paraphernalia. 1x for $20 from Champs.
Running Shoes. 1x for $120 from Champs.
Spandex Shorts. 1x for $50 from VS
Push-up padded bra. 1x for $30 from VS

TOTAL SPENT: $270

She needed to find an overpriced fancy a** notebook and pen, and no place really seemed offer those. But...

America stepped in Coach with a smile, this was definitely a fancyass store for overpriced s**t, so maybe she could find something...

A small gift display caught her attention, and the girl did a discreet little fistpump. Maybe it wasn't the exact item Caelius wanted, but close enough. They even had a black one to match his heart. She held it out to the golem to gauge its acceptability.

"My star barrettes are fabulous!"

Good enough.

As she waited at the nice checkout counter, America zoned a little until something behind the counter caught her attention. It was a pen. A fancyass looking pen.

While the clerk was busy with the customer in front of her (who was bitching about how terrible her last experience with their store was and boohoo give me a discount and pat my saggy butt) the girl stealthy tried to sneak the pen. If she got caught, well, she was buying a severely overpriced notebook for ******** sake. Testing it out was only reasonable.

Now if only the golem would be cooperative...

"Aren't you missing something?"

With a small gasp America set the notebook on the counter to paw through her bags, discretely slipping into one as she rummaged. With a sigh, she nodded, "Yeah, I think I left the bag with your tie at the Starbucks." The girl looked devastated and not a little stressed as she finally checked out, and the cashier was more than distracted by her customer's ill luck. America refrained from doing another fistpump this time, but her expression did turn incredibly pleased as she entered American Eagle to once again purchase the tie.

Finally done with her list, the girl practically skipped to the food court to meet up with Cami.

Never, ever, was she going to look at a pair of running shoes the same way. Never mind her own were wearing out but she absolutely could not afford one of these pairs. Until something changed Cami was a Walmart shoe-buyer which was good enough for her. Finally they'd gotten a pair purchased and a hat was next because, as far as she could tell, that's what 'sports paraphernalia' was. Edith-golem seemed fairly into the Patriots which, really, was a bit like saying you were a Yankees fan. Nobody liked you much and it was a fairly safe fallback if you knew nothing at all about sports.

The bat was next and it was going to be her strategy to have Edith ask for yet another pair of shoes, because that was clearly what the golem seemed to want to do, when she was dragged out. "Wha?! Are you kidding me?!" Edith-golem had her in a firm grip as they walked out.

Stopping in front of the Radio Shack Cami let out a strangled noise. "I know you're a bit broken but seriously, I don't think we can get anything you could possibly want from here." Edith-golem spent a few minutes wandering around the store, picking up a few things, looking hopeful as her trainee companion shook her head. "Nope, I'm not allowed to buy anything not on the list. Don't they tell you that?" It was impossibly frustrating to have what was basically an overly-intelligent doll drag her around a store that was worthless to both of them.

Eventually she tried a last-ditch effort. "Hey, did you wanna go look at the running shoes again?" Dangling candy in front of a baby was always surprisingly effective. Edith-golem didn't even hesitate to snag the other dark-skinned woman by the hand and drag her back to Champs, zeroing in on the three pairs of shoes that previously she'd been told to put back.

You could tell the associates didn't make any commission and were hourly because they were vaguely horrified that, once again, they were going to have to fetch shoes and cater to this odd woman. Cami was alright with it. She sat down for at least a few minutes, ostensibly looking out at the rest of the mall but really eyeing up her bat options.

Like hell she was leaving without that thing!

In the end? It was too easy. Cami certainly wasn't going to be buying a second pair of hundred-dollar shoes for Edith. The list had asked for one pair and she had the sneaking suspicion that anything extra she came back with was going to be handed to her along with a bill. The bras were one thing because they'd come as a set -- buying one by itself would have been impossible. Well. Not impossible but certainly stupid. They were $40 for one unless you bought two for ten dollars more!

Dragging Edith-golem away from the shoes had been the hardest part. Casually the redhead had lifted the bat from the display as she returned the earlier favor, dragging Edith out of Champs while the associate was in the back putting away the five boxes of shoes. Protesting every step that she didn't want a bat she wanted more shoes, Cami really ignored her. Edith wasn't her lead. Edith was going to get everything she asked for.

Spotting America sitting with Caelius in the food court Cami collapsed into her chair like the world had ended. "Did you have as much trouble with Caelius as I did? Edith is apparently obsessed with running shoes or maybe it's just this thing. I got dragged randomly to Radio Shack of all places..." Shaking her head she looked over, hopeful.

"Greasy mall food time?"

Beaming America nodded, bouncing on her heels, "We're gonna load up on so much salty goodness," her head turned as she spoke, eyeing a passing beefcake in too tight jeans. But she had priorities and number one was buying a mountain of Cinnabons, gallon of Orange Julius, and was seemed like a good pound of Bourbon Chicken.

Taking a seat, she began to grill the other girl as she ate, "So why'd you become a hunter?"

Cami herself had two strombolis, a Cinnabon of her own, and if not a gallon of drink at least a very large Sangrita-flavored Mountain Dew that you could only get from Taco Bell. That this mall not only had one, but had the flavor in stock, made the whole trip so very worth it. Between bites of lukewarm stromboli and overly-sugared soda she answered America's question. "Because I didn't know what I was getting in to, like the rest of us. Though unlike the poor people who really had zero idea, I saw the person who recruited me fighting. I knew that's what I'd be doing but I wanted in."

Thinking about the Sahara had her filling her mouth with drink once more to chase away the sudden dryness, the bubble of fear (or maybe just bad pizza) gurgling in her stomach. "I guess I thought it'd just be little fights on suburban streets not bugs beneath your skin and endless desert. Still, if I'm able to keep anyone safe, I guess that's worth it." Four months in Deus hadn't taken too badly a toll on Camille though perhaps it was just because her support system was quite grandiose by this point.

"What about you?"

Popping a piece of chicken into her mouth, America nodded. "I knew exactly what I was getting into, read the ******** fine print and everything. Simon recruited me, and he isn't one for a dog and pony show. But I was set to got into the Navy if somebody from one secret agency or another didn't recruit me after graduation." Taking a long, loud sip of her Orange Julius, she continued, "Most things about the job are a lot better than what I was expecting, gotta say. I've got my issues with a some parts of it, I'm working on a few of them and there's a few more I'm just starting to regret, but for the most part I like it."

She grinned at Cami, "And it's great having folks to protect and all, but the first day out of the pod pretty much sold it to me once I'd bonded Stryker. Feels good, being better. Being more." Another sip and then she pulled the straw out, sucking out the drink from the bottom end. "Seems like you got a bit jaded pretty quick, though."
