"Shrink in training, huh?" Evan shook his head; everyone on the island was crazy in their own special way. Expecting a Hunter to help other Hunters get their heads on straight was like the blind leading a blind right off the edge of a cliff: ill-advised and more likely than not to end badly. Whatever. It wasn't his decision. He wouldn't even be here right now, pointedly not eating scones and drinking coffee, if it had been. "How are those bullet points looking? Good enough to get the higher-ups off my a**?"

"Self-training, for the most part." Lex nodded, rolling his shoulders with a small shrug. It was helpful, and perhaps one day he'd ask H about it, but he'd wait until the next division meeting to bring it up. Though, he was still only a trainee - an Intermediate, sure, but only a full Hunter could apply to try and be something so important as the Island Therapist.
"Well, pretty good so far. Just basic things, nothing revealing." He lied, easy smile reflected by his easy posture in the chair. The bullet points read:
- Pre-Island: Marine - Possible Conditions: PTSD, Paranoia - Demeanor: Suspicious, Guarded - Remedies: Anger Management Therapy
"Anyway, Evan, I just want to clear you to leave. Tell me what happened and why? From your own side."

Evan nodded understandingly. It wasn't like actually going to school and majoring in psychology was an option at this point, and when there was no one around to teach, you had to learn all on your own. He could respect that; he just didn't want to be Lex's guinea pig. "Good to hear," Evan replied. Maybe if he kept it up, Lex would deem him sound enough in mind to write him off as good enough. It proved, almost immediately, to be too much to hope for. He forced himself to relax, to keep his eyes forward and not to look towards the door for escape. He didn't want to talk, not to Lex, not to anyone. Talking about what had happened with Chel would implicate her just as much as it would himself, and it was no one else's business, anyway. "We went on the mission, came back--I cracked a couple of ribs." He shrugged. "Pretty much just business as usual."

Hrm. Lex sighed within his heart, clearing his throat and straightening up a bit. Evan really didn't want to say much, did he? Maybe, Lex thought, he was pushing his old neighbor too hard? Maybe he was able to see what the Life trainee was up to? Or he could just be a very defensive person.
Lex had to crack him, though. "Mm, yes. I was on that mission as well." He said, hand moving over the scar on his stomach. That... black thing had ripped through him like paper, turning him back to his normal Hunter self. "Don't think I broke any ribs, but I certainly bruised some bones."
A small pause, another smile pointed Evan's way. "Do you remember when I used to live in that dorm next to you?"

Evan's eyes were drawn by the movement of Lex's hand over his stomach, right where Chel had gotten hurt, where he had--he clenched his jaw and turned his gaze elsewhere. "Good to hear," he replied, fighting hard to sound casual. "Rib injuries are a b***h." He was grateful when Lex stopped talking, but confused at his question. He remembered that Lex had lived next door once upon a time, but the change of subject was unexpected and confusing. "Yeah," he said slowly, loosening up a bit as he recalled his least favorite part about sharing a wall with Lex. "I remember wondering if you were getting tortured or getting lucky. I could have lived without knowing you're a screamer, man," he replied with a smirk.

Lex scoffed and followed with a chuckle, shaking his head. "Screamer? You must have been dreaming. I'm no rookie." He gave a small smirk, nearly a grin, as he drank his not at all laced coffee. "Sorry to have disturbed you, however. I neglected how dreadful the sound proofing is in the dormitories." He didn't look too sorry, though.
"Maybe I owe you a pair of headphones."

"Yeah, I just bet you're sorry," Evan scoffed, shaking his head. "All of those lost hours of sleep I'll never get back," he said on a sigh. "No making up for that," he teased.

"Well... I could let you off a little early. I think we've got enough notes for today, actually. Go ahead and relax with whatever it is that makes you relax - nothing heavy, though. That could lead to a... relapse." Lex smiled, sinking back into his high backed chair with folded hands and and a playful brow. Evan was certainly a good patient, even if this wasn't a true practice. Hell, he'd probably be a good case study to present to the Doctor once this whole affair was sorted out.
"Sunny will be told that we've made progress. Feel free to take a scone on your way out." He nodded, picking up the phone and finding the lead nurse's number.lizbot Text to Sunny: He's still unstable, but workable. Surveillance recommended, if not already in place.

Lex's mention of notes and relapses reminded Evan that this was not a social call and Lex was not an old friend he was shooting the breeze with; this was a mandatory, or-else kind of appointment, and Lex held Evan's future in his hands. "Sounds good to me," Evan said, fighting to keep his tone and expression relaxed and casual as he rose, eager to leave now that Lex had given him an out. He paled a bit at the sound of Sunny's name, but progress--progress was good, right? Evan obligingly took a scone and nodded in thanks to Lex. He wouldn't eat it, of course, but Lex didn't need to know that; he had only taken it for appearances' sake anyway. "Be seeing you," he said on his way out the door.
