"We will indeed be forever grateful for it." Kelakohr agreed with a laugh. "While learning the lessons may be difficult or unpleasant" -he had vivid memories of a sound thump over the hindquarters when he was difficult- "they serve us well now in our adulthood."
He stopped a moment to consider his own children. "I imagine that if I ever feel over my head, I will turn things over to my father or mother and watch as my children are treated to the same lessons I long ago learned. It might be somewhat amusing to see how they take to the whole thing."
Kel shrugged it off a moment later, giving a fond chuckle. The question made his ears swivel in the next moment, something like surprise flickering over his face.
"I do indeed, actually." He offered after a moment's pause. "It took something like a lifetime's worth of practice, and it still can be too much for me to handle or leave me severely drained. But I hope that I'll be strong enough to correct any foalish mistakes that end in injury. I remember being a foal, and accidents happen. If I am honest, it is one of the things I worry about the most. With the Kalona and Skinwalkers everywhere, I will do my best to ensure my children do not wander too far out of sight."
Kel considered the hornless stallion before him, wondering if the urge to heal was still in his blood in spite of the fact that he lacked a horn. Still, there was no polite way to ask, so he held his tongue on that.
"If you've need of a healer and your mother is away... I would be happy to volunteer my services."

Tilting his head, Ash stopped to consider the idea for a moment, grinning at the thought. Mares were fierce and unmoving in their defense of foals. It had the potential of being terrifying, when one found themselves at the wrong end of teeth and hooves. Mares were not to be trifled with, especially in the defense of their children.
"How fortunate." Ash murmured when Kel agreed he knew how to heal. Though the details made him tilt his head thoughtfully. Perhaps that was why his mother did not speak overly much of it. If it was a difficult task to begin with... "Well, I suppose important things are never easy. But if you can save someone until additional help can be found, it must be worth everything to have such a gift."
The offer made him widen his eyes, considering his new-found-friend with gratitude. "Thank you very much for your offer, Kelakohr... I am honored by the trust and friendship implicit in such a statement. I am sure it is a sacrifice to you. I would be happy to offer my aid in turn, if every I can be of assistance to you."
He considered it for a moment and then gave a soft laugh. "This sounds more like the basis of an alliance and a friendship than a casual meeting. I confess I am surprised by my good fortune."

"Important things are rarely easy, that much is true." Kelakohr agreed. "But they are frequently worth the effort, the time and the tears. Healing is like that, to me. I do my best to grow stronger, to use my abilities for good... And when I find those that I can help, I offer. If you ever find any Unicorns in need of training, I would also be happy to do my best in teaching them. I fully expect I will have to do so with my own offspring, so there would be no harm in adding additional students."
Kelakohr gave him a fond grin and a faint shrug. He hoped that he would one day be able to offer Ash more than a promise of aid. But for now, their new alliance was a considerable highpoint to his day.
"It is a pleasure to meet someone that is worthy of the trust, and you are certainly one I would consider a friend if given a chance. As such, it costs me nothing to offer my aid, as friends do that for each other." The indigo stallion smiled. "As for our friendship or alliance... I would dearly like to consider pursuing both. A casual meeting is all well and good, but the chance to make true friends and establish an alliance is not something I would refuse."
He considered the sky for a moment, aware that time was passing and he needed to be heading home. "So then, can we leave it as friends... And agree to meet and talk again in the future? I would love to speak with you about my foals antics."

"I can't help but agree with that, true enough." Ashrialto nodded. "I find we will do almost anything for a cause we believe to be worthy... And such causes are worth everything we can do to support or protect them. Children certainly fall into that category."
He grinned at the offer of healing lessons, and attempted to imagine Kel surrounded by Unicorn foals. Would they try to heal something small at first? A bird or a mouse? All matter of familiars would surely flock their way if they established some sort of apothecary where they could come to have their injuries tended to. With the help of a two-legger or a clever handed creature like a raccoon, they might actually be able to make a go of this.
It was something interesting to consider, at any rate. Maybe he'd look around a bit, and then propose the idea to Kelakohr upon their next meeting.
"I agree it is a pleasure to have met you today... I find myself hoping that we will be able to meet agin in the near future. For now I would be proud to call you friend, and I sincerely hope that we could build an alliance."
Ashrialto gave him a grin and a nod. "So then, until the next time we meet... And I look forward to stories of your children's antics. Very well, Kelakohr, I believe we have a deal. Until the next time we meet, my friend, I hope the sun shines on you."
With a faint grin and an incline of his head, he bid farewell to his new friend and turned back toward the woods. With a decent pace he'd be back at his mate's side before she could miss him... And this time with a story and a new friend to show for it.

"Children are the future, it is no surprise that we protect them to the best of their abilities... Sometimes a thankless task, but we gladly perform it. Even when they would rather we do not." Kelakohr smiled. "I know I have done some things as a foolish colt or a young stallion that I now sincerely regret... And I wince at the idea of my own children doing such things. Here's hoping I do not fuss too much."
"I am glad to hear it. Very well then, Ashrialto. It was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to our continued friendship and alliance. Again, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you are in need of healing or your find a young unicorn that would like lessons."
Kelakohr gave a bow of his head. "May the sun shine on you, and the moon light your way in the night. Until the next time we meet, be well."
