The Twin's Birth

          [Transcribed from Kadryn's Journal]
          Discovery of Pregnancy
          Pregnacy Pains

Kadryn’s mother was staying with them: she was a decent healer after all, and wanted to be there for the birth of her first grandchild.. or.. Children to be more precise. Kadryn’s size told her mother that her daughter was giving birth to twins! She puttered about the house making sure that the nursery that Kirosh had been working on was just right. Both Kirosh and Kadryn were grateful she’d showed up: neither one of them were sure just what to do about the birthing process.
Now everything was all set: the nursery set up, names (two boy and 2 girls) picked out, and the parents were here… all they had to do was wait now: wait for the labor to start. Kadryn woke in the middle of the night and knew it was time: the contractions were starting!
While the contractions may have started in the night, it wasn’t until dawn that her water broke and she began to go into labor. Kirosh, nervous and not knowing what to do, was set to cutting firewood and boiling water to keep him busy. The hours of labor were a painful blur to Kadryn; she wasn’t quite sure how long it went on, and Kirosh was in the same basket. But he was a bundle of nerves instead of pain like Kadryn: every sound he heard made him more nervous. Was she okay? Would the babies be born safely? What gender? How long?

Finally Laasya walked outside, a smile on her face; “Kirosh, come in and meet your sons.” He stumbled to his feet and rushed inside. She was calm so everything must have gone fine! He rushed up the ladder to their joined bedroom and stood in the doorway. Kadryn looked up at him, both her arms full of babies.

“Kirosh, their beautiful.” She said with a big happy smile. He could see the exhaustion on her face, but the joy in it was worth the months of irritated pregnant Kadryn he’d had to deal with.

“Since their both boys Peralian, which is after your mother, and Tarlen are their names.” She shifted one arm. “This is the elder, Peralian. Want to hold him?” Kiorsh sat down next to her and gently ahold of his son. She smiled as she saw the smile.

“It’ll be hard to tell the difference at first, so mom gave them small bracelets so we can tell them apart.”
Not trusting himself to speak, Kirosh just nodded and kissed his wife before leaning back into the pillows.

“They’re so small…” Was all he said, his voice soft and husky.

Kadryn nestled against him. “They are… and cute! Worth those last 9 months I’d say.”

“Definitely.” Kirosh said as he ran a hand over the child’s peach fuzz hair and played with the small wings. “Now we just have to raise them…”He said with a grin. “They’re going to be little scamps I just know it!”

“Of course!” Kadryn said with a laugh, “Considering how we were as kids, would you expect any less?”

I wanna be like dad
tarlen picks his first weapon - bow

Tarlen had always known he wanted to be like his father. He wanted to look like his father, act like his father, and everything. From a young age he had started asking his father to help him master the bow. He wasn't a natural at it, much to his dismay, but what he lacked in natural talent he made up for in determination. He was going to master it no matter what it took for him to do so!

So every morning he trained by himself, and when he father wasn't busy he helped him out and gave him pointers. While at first he was lousy with it, he was slowly getting better. It was causing him to fall behind his brother in his adventures. Sure he was happy for his brother, really he was, but he was also jealous. His brother had left off to Aisko and he was there stuck at home. Already his brother had taken down dragons and got into his own kind of trouble, where Tarlen was stuck... He wasn't all that good at the bow, and he had even thought about changing and working with a new weapon. But he wasn't the kind of person that just gave up, and that was something that he needed for himself. He needed to prove to himself that he could master something if he put his head to something.

This was one of those days where he was about to give up. He was made at his brother for leaving him, and for his parents for giving Peralian all of the talent in the family. He was good with the bow, and the staff. He was good at everything, and what was Tarlen left with? Nothing. Peralian had dragon souls! And than by his age his mother and father had already done crazy things. And what about him? He had done nothing.

With a huff he started to let arrows loose, not even paying attention as they each hit their mark. The center of the target. When he was out of arrows and out of anger he finally saw the target and his eyes went wide. He hit it, not only did he hit it but he kept hitting it. The target was riddled with his arrows, and all but one were in the middle of the target. He let out a whoop of excitement and quickly got all of the arrows. Just because he had done it once didn't meant that he was all of a sudden good with the bow. It could have just been luck.

Again and again he hit his mark, focusing on his anger as he strung the bow every time. So that was his key to getting the bow, he couldn't feel normal he had to be mad. Well that was easy. Personally he wished he would have learned the little trick a long time ago, but he was glad to have learned it at all. Now time to go show his father and get his official bow, one better than the cheap one he currently had.

My first fight
tarlen takes on three dragons

Finally I fought my first dragon, and slayed it dead! I ran away before I found out what happened to the the other two but no matter.
I got my dragon soul and I'm sure mom and dad will be so happy to hear all about it! It was the best day ever. I can't wait to kill
many more dragons. I know that this is just the start. And when I pick my second weapon I will be even more unstoppable.

Back at it
tarlen takes on the other two dragons

I had to kill the other two, and after a few days days of stalking I ran into them! Sadly I was only able to kill one, but that was
better than not finding any of them! It got me pretty bad in the arm, but I'm sure it will turn into an awesome scar some day. I took
care of it when I got home and I'm sure that it won't get infected or anything. I need another weapon, one for when I have to fight close
up... Maybe it's time to pick one.

Another weapon
tarlen picks his second weapon - sword

Tarlen touched the cloth wrap around his arm. It was a little painful still, and a remind of the fight he had survived. He only killed the beast because he had gotten lucky with one of the arrows, but he couldn't count on luck next time. He had been thinking about a second weapon for sometime, he just hadn't decided on what he wanted. It was time to decide. He couldn't go out hunting for the last dragon without a second weapon.

At first he wondered if he should just pick his moms weapon as his second weapon. That way he would be following in both of his parents footsteps, but when his mom let him pick up her weapon he just knew that it wasn't for him. At first he thought that it didn't fit him because of it's shear size, after all he wasn't as strong as she was yet, but than after messing around with one that was more his size he realized it had nothing to do with the size. He tried out a few of the other blunt weapons that the wild tribe had laying around for the purpose of beginners to try out, but none suited him.

That meant he had to make a blade work. He wasn't going to get anywhere with a staff, that he already knew, so a blade would have to work. Plus that meant that he would be able to get up close and personal. He worked with different kinds of blades and found that the smaller ones worked best for him. He wasn't tottally in love with it like he was with the bow, but he was determined to get good at it. He couldn't always use a bow, and now that he knew that blunt weapons weren't going to work for him he had to work with the blade. Maybe it was a love that he would grow into. That happened, right?

Tarlen had searched long and hard for someone to teach him to work with the blade. He wasn't able to go to his parents like he had his father with the bow, which made things difficult. Most people who belonged to the wild tribe traveled a lot, and he needed a teacher who would be around at least for a few months until he mastered the sword. Finally he found an Oblivionite that was willing to teach him. The mans name was Porter, and he was pretty old. However everyone told Tarlen of the man's skill with blades, and so Tarlen sought him out. It took some convincing but at least Porter agreed and the training began.

After a month of training at least once a day the small blades were as natural to Tarlen as his bow had become. He was really good at throwing them, but he was getting better at using them as an extension of his arm. He wanted to be able to fight close up as good as he did from far away. After two more month's Porter had to leave, something about his family, but he left Tarlen with a blade of his very own. Now Tarlen was ready to go and kill the last dragon.
