Naevius nodded along as Xilarn spoke about his brother. From her little bit of time with Cether, and her knowledge of him, it was sad to say that nae believed every word. She nodded once more as he said he wouldn't wish harm on him. That was admirable at least. Although his former outbursts contradicted his statement, she wanted to give him the benefit of a doubt.
She took a little pleasure by seeing him taken aback and watched the expression on his face as he thought before speaking. When he did speak, he was murmuring and his gaze flicked away. Naevius did what she could to not narrow her eyes at him though she didn't know if she was successful or not.
As for her own motives, Naevius leaned in towards the fire as she thought. "Maybe not where I believe will be the most good, but more where I believe I will learn the most. Most nobles wouldn't think to leave the vicinity of their tents. I believe, however, that by connecting with the soldiers and hearing their complaints, it will lead us to more success." It was a little idealistic, yes. It was also a way to hear a lot of gossip and hear what people really thought, for sure. Moreover, though, it was gaining people's trust and having them believe that you'll do what's best for them, and that's what Naevius wanted to do and to be.

Nilah44 You didn't need any more RPs with Nae and were fine with ending this, yes? Xil was besieged by this sinking suspicion that his female companion didn't exactly believe every word he said. When he regained himself enough to flick his clay gaze back in her direction, he couldn't help but notice a slight narrowing of her eyes. In retrospect, he realized he probably didn't sound that convincing and probably could've made more of a show of his loyalty and allegiance. But blissfully, she said nothing, and Xilarn allowed himself to believe they were still on favorable terms.
"That- your reasons- seem... fair." He tried to keep the surprise out of his voice with only minimal success. A noble, though, was probably plenty adept at telling tales. Of course she would say whatever to sway him, and of course she would seem to be on his side where... Cether was concerned. He tried not to let it go to his head. "And I respect that. You do seem to have your work cut out for you there..."
With a low hum, he roe to his feet, flicking the cloth of his hood back up over his head. "And I feel my presence would be counter-intuitive to your goals. I should be finding my way back... to my camp, I mean. But thank you-" Xil inclined his head ever-so-slightly. "-for being so understanding."

Smiling, Naevius did everything she could to try and be truthful with the other. After all, thats the kind of person she wanted to be. The kind where no matter your station if you had a problem, they could come to her. She stood when he did, her smile falling a little bit as he flicked the hood back up, the shadow hiding his face. "You're very welcome. I hope you have safe travels. Be careful running through the jungle at night. You may run into worse things than me." She said with a small smirk before nodding her own head and walking away. Naevius did hope he would be careful. Fluffesu Nope! We're good. Calling this FIN then! biggrin
