"Cocky s**t head." Peyton snickered soundlessly as she rebuilt the tower. Then she carefully slide a piece free and placed it on top before her eyes turned to the sharpie that was lying on the table between them. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 1 Total Points: 4

This time, when he woke, he'd take a moment to stare at the tower, the mess, his pieces gone, and then Ever would tip his head to the side. Reflecting. After a moment, he'd lick his lips and whisper something into his hand. If Peyton paid attention, she'd hear him say constructum. And then, when the tower reset, he'd blink, slowly, both eyebrows raising. "Well, fancy that. I guess Thompson isn't a complete jerk, and doesn't just jerk my chain." He took a piece, slower this time. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 4 Total Points: 4

She watched him, a mild smile on her lips, as he reconstructed the tower once again, then grinned as Taym's name fell into the space between them. "Taym isn't a jerk," she'd protest, chuckling softly at the irony of those words. He was, most assuredly, but it was her opinion that only those that cared for him were allowed to say as much. "Any advice he gives you about the island will be true, even if said in a condescending, or rough manner. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

"He is a jerk." It was easy, blinking up at Peyton as he removed another piece. Ever shook his head at her, twisting it between his fingers as he considered where to go with his words. "He's judgmental, homophobic, and hostile. He might be helpful, too, but the one doesn't counter the other." He set the piece down in his stack, shaking his head as he looked back to the tower. "He definitely doesn't like me." Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

"Naw." She grinned, fondly, then made a face. "Alright, maybe a little." He was all the things Ever accused him of, but Peyton adored him, always had. "I know he's gruff, and a pain in the a**, but he'll always have your back. Even if you aren't his favorite person." She drew a piece out from the bottom and replaced it on top. "He was there when I woke up." And even then, it had seemed, Taym hadn't thought much of him: Ever completely oblivious to the problems the man had been facing at the time. Not that it mattered. None of that had been his fault. He watched the tower now, instead of her, nudging a piece free slowly, carefully, not-quite knocking the tower down. "Not the best mentor, though, I'd say. Who's worth meeting, do you think?" Status Round: 2 Pieces Taken: 1 [5 in round 1] Total Points: 8

"Worth meeting because they're awesome, or worth meeting because they'd make a good mentor?" She extracted a piece, waving it at him as she asked. She set it on the top, then folded her hands, features gone thoughtful. "Let's see..." Her lips rolled, pressing together before she smiled. "America is awesome, all around good people. Cami, Hanna, Milo." There were a lot more people to list then she had thought there would be. "Noah, my boyfriend, he's a Lifer too, real nice guy. Bix, he's a Sun hunter, been here a loooong time, so if you have questions, he's got answers." Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 7 Total Points: 11

His nod was bobbing, absent, like he was only half listening, even if he'd asked the question. Maybe Ever was more attentive than he seemed, even if his eyebrows wrinkled in focus as he wriggled another wobbly piece free. "And who should I avoid?" "Rep." The answer was automatic, and it came with a grimace. Then she added, thoughtfully. "And Lawrence, he goes by Jan. He's a sociopath, and a con man." She drew another piece slowly, attention momentarily on the tower. Status Round: 1 Pieces Taken: 8 Total Points: 14

"It's funny, everyone says that about Rep, but I thought he was actually pretty chill." He shook his head, tipped it to watch fingers grasp a piece, to slowly pull it out of the tower. Careful as he could be, but the thing was a bit unstable, now. "I mean, first day, he helped me wash my --" The tower fell. A dart hit him. Ever didn't finish the thought. Peryton's head tipped to one side as Even went down again, and she gave a small shake of her head as she reached for the sharpie laying between them. On his hand drew a smiley face, and just below that she wrote in bubbly lettering 'You tried!'. Then she sat back, knitted her hands together, and waited for him to wake up again so she could go and treat him to an candy bar.

He came to slowly: swiping drool from the corner of his mouth, somewhat exasperated, and smoothing a hand up through his hair as he took in the wreckage of their fallen tower. No way it would come together now, then. Ever blinked up at Peyton and grimaced. "Three strikes and you're out?"

Now she smiled, folding her hands across the table. "Yes, as many times as you want. Now, or when ever you're feeling up to it. You just have to start at the beginning."
