So it was a design like Dae had clothes. “Ah that makes sense.” Backing up to give the mare space once more Dae wondered about a few things the mare had talked about before. “You mentioned having a bonded. Perhaps you could regale me with a tale of how you found your… it was a lady was it not? That is as long as I am not stealing you from other more important things.” Dae was relishing the conversation but she didn’t want to take advantage of the other mare. She knew that once an Azrein saw their bonded it was instant and powerful. Though she had never truly spoken with one who was bonded before so perhaps that was a bit exaggerated?

Dea felt her heart tug for the mare whose voice was keeping loneliness at bay. “That sounds both beautiful and tragic. I am not certain if I should be happy for you or sad to hear what you have both lost.” To have a bond of sorrow seemed so horribly tragic was there not a way to bond that didn’t have such pain as it’s only stepping stone. Still the mare seemed happy enough overall so perhaps she should not be so judgmental of the bond. “Perhaps if you don’t mind to spend a bit more time with me. What is it like to have a bonded? I don’t know many humans so it is hard to understand… What are humans like for long periods of time.” The mare shrugged her shoulders and her tail whipped around to swat at a fly that was bugging her hindquarters.

The mare had a rather high view of life she supposed. Dae tilted her head listening. So thoughts could hidden from one another yet trust and always having someone beside one’s self did sound nice. Though the fact that humans were more like azrein than thought was sad as well. There were humans who hurt one another like there were azrein who would harm others. Dae knew that only to well having lost her sight to a brutish monster before Minos had saved her. “I see.” Her voice was soft and tender. “How was your bonded harmed?” The human bonded to Serenity. Dae wished to learn a bit more about her.

Hearing a noise Dae tilted her head. Pawing, shifting? How uncomfortable was the mare about this? The story progressed and Dae’s face contorted with horror. She was attacked when she was alone in life, she couldn’t even fathom nearly losing a family and children. It was a terrifying thought. A part of her mind did start to wonder if there was jealously sharing a bond with a human but a larger part of her nature took over and she moved toward the mare and pressed against her offering comfort and kindness. “I am sorry. That tale is horrible and difficult to hear much less speak. I thank you for your words and will not press further.” Nosing the mare softly Dae wasn’t sure if she should step back and give the mare space or if it was alright to stay so close. She had no designs on the mare other than to ease the pain of the conversation that Dae had asked about. “I am sorry.”

“There are many depressing tales in life, to bear them and not share with others makes a weight that is crushing and choking. Should we ever cross paths again after this day please feel free to come and speak with me on any matter. I might not be able to help you find things but I have ears that can hear still.” She gave a small smile at the other mare.

Making sure to give the mare some space Dae found herself actually wishing she could see so that she could go and help others or at least see what they looked like. Rarely had she ever spoken with humans though if Dea was as loved by others as Serenity loved her than it was clear she was a good human and worth speaking to. “I am glad your bonded did not die.”


(Sorry for not replying for so long. I feel kind of forgotten in some shops so my muses pretty much went on vacation)

The human had.. the word wasn’t foals, and she didn’t know if children was right. Young humans and a mate. It was so much to have and nearly loose. “My life is quite simple. I have two young ones.. Well quite grown now. I do have a mate his name is Minos. He is the one who saved me from the monster who took my eyes. My mate has a lust to wonder and often times is away, though I begrudge him this not. I know it would be much too hard to be tied down here and leading me around all the time for him. I should think my son will be coming back to visit soon. At least I hope. This way he can tell me of the changes of the land around me and what I might come to expect. There are times it is hard to live as I do now, though I would rather not be a burden and hold my family back from their own desires.” It was as much an answer as she wanted to give right now. No need to bother this mare with how lonely she felt at times or how worried when she heard beasts howling in the night and knew she would never see them coming if they were hunting her.

Unwittingly switching to her more formal speech Dae continued the conversation. “Lonely yes. Certainly that though there is always that spark of hope and joy about seeing him again.” She nudged the mare. “Still it is wondrous that thou’s mate both past and current are so dear to thou. No matter what that thou experiences in life to have known such love makes the world a brighter place. At least it does for this sightless one.” She moved back and shifted her head stretching out her neck just a bit. “Thank you for taking the time to speak with this one. It feels nice to be able to have conversation and know that the world is not as empty as it seems at times.”
