Sometimes Cami wished she could have read minds. Reading Otto's mind while he thought of her as a voodoo queen would have had her
rolling with delight. Nobody she'd ever known had been a practitioner but that didn't stop endless questions her freshman year at Columbia. It was annoying when people were being stereotypical and racist. Otto? She probably would have found it adorable and endearing but then, she
liked him. She hadn't liked any of them.
"I think Peyton is my friend, maybe, and there's Batsy but you're the first one to
say it. That means you're special." Her wide grin wobbled a bit around the edges at the harsh tone in his voice for a moment, fingers curling into her thighs through her pockets. "Yeah, that's why I'm gonna need you. I was kinda..." She paused and then went for it anyway. "Traumatized, I guess? I dunno. Like I said though, I'm really sorry about that but I made good on it, right?" Her smile brightened again, hopeful.
This was how she made friends and it might have been a little pathetic on her end but it hadn't really turned out badly so far! Now she had someone who considered themselves her friend which meant that
literally she would do anything for them. This was going to be
great!
