Oh dear, seemed he'd opened a wound with Draconia. He felt a stab of guilt. "Uh... have a good fangsgiving?" he called after her before returning to work, tedious, unpleasent, thankless work.
When finally it was time to shut up shop, Perry wanted to do little more than simply crawl back into bed and sleep for a week but now a worse torment awaited. Family.
All he could do was hope to Hades that Vinnie showed.

Perry had yet again been roped into helping out around the house, and trying to find a chance to sneak off and hide. He took the chance when his father started to slice onions and his mother left the kitchen to get Ayla dressed up pretty for grandma. No way was he about to get dressed up pretty, he'd thrown on whatever he had that was clean and didn't stink of butcher. His phone pinged as made good his escape and he hesitated. His father barely looked up, absorbed in his preparations. With a sigh of relief, Perry hastened out of the room and found a quiet spot to lay low. To: Perry Hartley
Hey! I'm ready to come over whenever... should I give you time to pick the turkey feathers out of your antlers? lol Ha ha He messaged back. Seriously considering going vegan. He was lying of course, his parents would never let that get him out of stuff. See you soon, need an excuse to get out of kitchen duty. Hurry! Save me!
Another message popped through as he hit send. This time Nathair. Hapy fangsgiving hope family arnt causing to much anguish. Family met your fake ghoulfriend yet?Perry sighed and replied. Have YOUR parents met YOUR fake ghoulfriend?Take it your in bad mood already then. Cheer up eat pudding. => => You're an idiot. You still fang out with me though. Hapy fangsgiving, have a good day ok?"I'll try.
He found himself pacing now. Fanxious about Vinnie's presence. Was Nathair right? Was he giving people the wrong impression inviting her? No, he reasoned, his parents were well aware... weren't they? Sure he'd never out and out told them, but they'd never needed him to tell them anything to just know. That's what parents did right? They had some sort of magical ability to know everything. Still, how much were his family going to completely humiliate him today? The sooner he and Vinnie could sneak out, the better he though. An entire day of his grandfather's farming stories, his grandmother's backhanded compliments and his brother's just... existance... was a little too much to handle. "Ahh there you are." His father had found him. "Come on, I need your help with this stuffing." Perry groaned.

Stuffing done, turkey in the oven and with family gathering around, Vinnie still hadn't shown. Perry was starting to believe she'd changed her mind and could he really blame her? A whole day with his family was a daunting prospect to HIM and they were blood! "What time should we expect Vinnie?" his mother enquired as she settled bustled around the kitchen clearing things to make space. "Uh.. I... don't know." Perry admitted. "Stood up? That's gotta hurt kiddo." His brother smirked. Perry scowled and sent one final desperate text to Vinnie. You ok? Not fallen down a ditch or something? Should I launch a search party? He hesitated, then added. When you get here, just ring the bell and i'll come down.

Vinnie paced in front of the door leading up to the Hartley family abode, trying to compose herself. Once or twice she approached the door and reached for the bell, only to feel a knot in her stomach and coil away. Why was this so nerve-wracking, she thought; it wasn't like it was a date... just meeting the entire family of a manster you may or may not still have a crush on... no big deal, right?
She felt her iCoffin buzz in her pocket, and wiped her sweaty claws against the fabric of Melody's sweater dress before fishing it out. Perry, clearly fangxious about her absence... this is ridiculous, Vinnie thought as she stiffened her spine, and with a quick lick of her palm straightened out her mohawk before marching up to the door and ringing the bell. She held her breath as she waited...

"i'll get it!" Perry yelled as the doorbell rang.
Please be Vinnie. He couldn't deal with any more of his family asking where she was. It was driving him mental.
Ayla came running. "No! I'll get it!"
The siblings raced to the stairwell and Perry shoved his sister behind him as he opened the door, panting heavily.
"Hey.. you... made it... then." He grinned, still trying to catch his breath.
His ten year old sister peered out from behind him, studying the other ghoul critically.
"You're Vinnie?" She remarked.
"Get back upstairs." He looked appologetic to his friend. "So.. uh, come in." He moved aside so she could enter the stairwell. It was a little cozy.
Ayla retreated a few steps but continued to stare.
"I said GO upstairs!" Perry snapped at her.
She snickered and ran up yelling "Vinnie's here!" as she went.
Perry looked pained. "I owe you one for this."

"I..." Vinnie found herself nearly pressed against Perry in the narrow stairwell, and tried to wriggle past him before he could tell she was blushing. "It's no problem, man. With Fish Ghoul and Slimebaby gone, that doomitory was way too quiet for me to stand it."
She hopped up a few steps and pressed out the folds in her dress with a quick pass-over of her palms. Looking down at Perry, she felt a twinge in her stomach and her tentacles wrinkled a bit before she rolled her shoulders back and smirked.
"Well, aren't you gonna introduce me to your fam or are we just gonna fang out in this stairwell all day? I'm starving!"

Perry was utterly oblivious to Vinnie's embarrassement, shrugging at her suggestion.
"I suppose so. I mean we could just make a run for it now..."
He winced as his mother's voice carried down the stairwell.
"Is that your friend? Come on up!"
"They're probably canoodling on the stairs." Perry's brother Buck snickered.
Perry glowered. "Let's get this over with then." He indicated that Vinnie go first and the pair headed upstairs and into the living room.
The house was modest, being above a shop it wasn't exactly a large premises but they managed to make the most of limited space.
An elderly Peryton was sitting on the sofa sipping a glass of something, next to her sat a tall, muscular young man with dark hair and a striking resemblance to Perry himself. Ayla was sitting on the floor colouring and looked up and grinned.
Perry looked a little uncomfortable.
"uh... Vinnie this is my grandmother, my brother Buck...." He managed to twist the sound of his brother's name in such a way as to rhyme with dirt. "and Ayla who you already kinda met. "
A strawberry blonde female and a dark haired man with glasses peered in from the kitchen.
"Vinnie?" There was a moment of silence, then Fawna smiled broadly and cleaning her hands on her apron, came over to shake the ghoul's hand. "So nice to finally meet you! I'm Fawna, Perry's mother."
Her husband still seemed a little dumbstruck. It was the grandmother who spoke next.
"yer a ghoul then... " She spoke gruffly.
Perry groaned.

Vinnie's eyes narrowed at Perry's grandmother, not sure what to make of her scrutiny. Remembering that she was here for Perry's sake, she curled her tentacles into a composed smile.
"As far as I am aware, yea." She said brusquely. "It's uh, short for Lavinia. But I never really liked that name all that much. I've always just gone by Vinnie."
She scratched at the side of her shaved head and shot a look to Perry, who looked just as uncomfortable as she felt.

"Well, a pleasure to meet you Vinnie." Perry's father finally managed. "You aren't quite what I was expecting..."
"I don't think any of us were love" his wife interjected.
Perry sighed loudly. "She's not my ghoulfriend."
"Of course not dear." His mother patted him on the head, turning to Vinnie. "Thank you so much for coming, I can't wait to get to know you better. Our son seems quite taken with you." and with that, she went back to the kitchen.
Perry groaned, flushing as vividly red as his hair. Clearly his family were intend on completely humiliating him today.
Ayla stared up at them both wide eyed. "I thought you didn't like ghouls?"
"So... " Perry diverted the conversation rapidly. "How about I give you the grand tour? yes? Of course you want the grand tour. " He grabbed her by the arm and practically dragged her into the next room.
"I'm sorry, my family are... annoying. " He lead her across the dining room and down a hall, toward a conveniently open window. "What do you say we... fly the nest?... so to speak." he looked Vinnie up and down.
She had wings right?
And it wasn't THAT much of a drop.
"I hear the school are putting on some sort of event, gotta be better than dealing with this lot all day right?"
He didn't wait for a response from the poor ghoul who was too dumbfounded and confused to really react before he shoved her out the open window to FREEDOM.

"What are you saying, we go there for desse-- Woaaah!" Vinnie barely had time to process being pushed from the window, and just barely had enough time to unfurl her wings and land safely in the alleyway below. She crossed her arms and glared up at him, her tentacles curling into a scowl.
"What in the name of Nyarlathotep was THAT for!? You could have just told me to jump!" She snapped at him.

He fluttered gracelessly down beside her.
"Sorry, heard someone coming" He glanced back up at the window where his younger sister was staring down at them in confusion.
"Mom said you should come help set the table!"
"Uh... tell her we uh... went to get some fresh air.. yes... " He looked to Vinnie.
His sister looked like she was about to call out for someone.
"She's not buying it... RUN!" Perry shouted, scurrying rapidly out of the alley and disappearing around the corner.

FRIDAY
Perry was grounded.
His family hadn't been at all amused by his disappearing act on Fangsgiving and upon returning, reluctantly, home, he'd been promptly informed that he was under no circumstances to leave the house till school started once more. On top of this, he spent the evening washing dishes while the rest of the family sat in the parlour and played games.
It was all so mightily unfair he thought.
But protests had achieved nothing by way of shortening his sentence, and he'd retired to bed in a terrible mood, already plotting his escape.
Friday morning he rose early, not something he was in the habit of doing. Perry enjoyed a lie in, but he also knew that he only had a small window before his parents rose and his prison sentence was enforced in full.
Carefully and quietly he dressed and pushed the window open, pulling on his glasses as he stared out at the cold dark morning.` The sun had barely begun to rise and the streetlamps cast a sickly yellow glow on the streets below.
He held his breath as he heard footsteps in the hall outside, the click of a light, then the unmistakable sound of someone using the bathroom. He waited till that somebody had returned to bed before clambouring out onto the ledge.
Some days he was glad he had wings.
today was one of those days.

Saturday Perry stared forlornly out his locked, sturdily barred window. His parents had not been in the least amused by his escape attempts, he was pretty sure he'd never seen them so mad. It wasn't as if he didn't pull this sort of stunt a lot, but they were clearly smarting over Fangsgiving. Truth be told, Perry was rather tired of being asked questions about Vinnie and whether he was "ashamed of her" or something. No matter how many times he told them, his parents refused to accept she was JUST a friend. How frustrating parents could be. His phone pinged. A message from Chase asking about the wrestling event. Perry groaned, no way would his parents let him go, he wasn't going to see unlife outside of school till Cryptmas at this rate. Thankfully his parents hadn't confiscated his phone, they'd been far too preoccupied by making sure he couldn't jump out any more windows. Spoilsports Now he'd have to find some other escape route, but his initial search of the building had netted nothing viable. Try as he might, there was just no way he could squeeze out a ventilation shaft. Bummer. As he sat there moping, a realisation hit him. Draconia would be at that wrestling event right? Q had invited her as well. This could be his one and only chance to appologise and avoid harpy related maiming. Hellene's face flashed into his mind's eye, full of wrath and homicide. Perry shuddered. That ghoul was scary. He looked down at his phone. Maybe he could at least make peace with that particular ghoul. The Addison sisters had picked out a particularly lovely (or so they claimed) hat they thought any ghoul of Hellene's taste would simply undie for. Perry had no choice but to trust their judgement, after all, fashion was hardly his forte. Maybe this peace offering would convince Hellene NOT to ruin any chance he ever had of dating. Though as far as Perry was concerned, he was doing a pretty good job of sabotaging his own love life without the harpy getting involved. It wasn't like any guy had any interest in him anyway right? Still, it felt prudent to sooth the Harpy ghoul before she really got her talons out. He was worried what else she might do. But how was he supposed to fix this mess? he was grounded, house bound, unable to venture out. Slowly, surely, a plan started to form in his mind. He just had to hope Hellene would agree to it. He searched his contacts. Yes, there she was, darkroom monitor. "Please be cool... please..." He whispered to himself as he texted. Need yr help. Grounded, 'rents suspicious, need escape plan. Draconia at Q Farm, need to get there. Appologise. Mend ruby heart. Or try. Help? Say it's for a photography project, you can be very persuasive.

Perry was starting to suspect Hellena was ignoring him. And really who could blame her? He sighed, looking down at his phone as his father walked into the room.
"You want breakfast or do you intend to spend the entire day sulking?"
"I dunno, hadn't really finalised my plan for the day. I was thinking after a few hours of moping i'd maybe move to being bored, then perhaps a few hours of staring at the ceiling." Perry tried to hide his phone but no such luck.
"Hand it over." His fater outstretched a hand.
"Daaaaad, seriously? What am I supposed to do all day?"
"I'm sure I can find chores."
Perry huffed as his father pocketed his Icoffin.
"Come on, come downstairs and have breakfast."
"I don't want to."
"Stop being petulent. Come on, UP." Oscar marched his groaning son into the kitchen and commanded he sit, stop looking so sour and accept his punishment. Perry didn't intend to do any of these things.
After breakfast Perry's mother rose and declared. "Well, best get to the store before everyone else decends. No escape acts you hear me?"
Perry snorted. "How could I escape? you nailed my window shut. You are aware if I die in the fire, it'll be entirely your fault right?"
His mother waved a hand dismissively. "Stop being such a drama queen. If you'd just stop jumping out of them, maybe we wouldn't have to take such drastic action."
"I still don't see what the big deal is."
"The big deal young man is that you shunned your family on fangsgiving to go galevanting about with that ghoul of yours. Would it really have killed you to just stay until desert?"
"Yes... yes it would have."
Fawna Hartley shook her head and looked to her husband. "I'm not sure this ghoul is such a good influence you know."
"Hey! It was my idea. She was gonna let you all interrogate her and make her uncomfortable."
"We wouldn't do anything of the sort."
"you totally would have."
"Regardless, you are being punished for YOUR actions. AND for sneaking out yesterday after you were strictly told you were grounded."
Perry rolled his eyes. Given how catastrophic yesterday had been, he almost wished he HAD obeyed his parents and stayed home.
"So you are staying put young man, do you understand?"
"But moooom, I have things to do!"
"Yes, you do. That laundry won't wash itself."
"Take care love." Perry's father kissed his wife softly on the cheek. "Don't worry, we'll keep him busy today. Won't we son?" He smiled to Perry who cringed.
With his mother and sister gone, Perry was set to work folding laundry, a tedious task he undertook with much grumbling and complaining. His father ignored him.
Nobody was rushing to his rescue were they? It was gonna be a LONG day.
