Ril couldn't help but to give a bit of a sigh, "You are... right, I guess." He murmured as the other helped him back to his cot, "I am not used to accepting such things. I have only done so a handful of times in the past." Save for those few times he did his best to just take care of everything himself. Something that had landed him in the situation he was in at the moment. If he had help that day he might not have been so gravely injured. It hadn't been something that was easy for him though because trusting people wasn't easy. Ril let his eyes sink shut for a moment, glad to be laying down once more. He was too tired to be up and running about, he just couldn't help himself upon seeing Yaholo, he'd just wanted to be near him.

He remained quiet as Yaholo set to fiddling with the blankets, seeming as though he wanted to get everything just right before he came to lay down with him. It was something that caused Ril's eyes to open, focusing solely on Yaholo as the other came closer, and for once, instead of trying to retreat he didn't. If anything he even scooted a bit closer to him. If he were close to him he would be able to better enjoy the fact that Yaholo was both real and with him, embarrassing as it was to think about it.

Of course his relaxed state was shaken up a bit at the words that Yaholo used, "A miracle... perhaps you're right, it's what the others were saying as well." Lifting an arm he clung to the arm that was wrapped around him, "I... didn't... escape I mean, I had to... fight my way out. There were... these strange warriors, they look a bit like bugs but walk on two legs. A mage and some warriors with blades, it was... messy." His hand moved to one of the bandages, the one covering what was the worst of his wounds. Even with the aid of magical healing it wasn't going to heal all the way, would leave a scar, and it might even be a bit stiff when the weather was bad.

"It was... odd but... when it was the worst, when I thought I was... done for, it was you I thought of." He was murmuring quietly, not wanting for anyone but Yaholo to hear him say such a thing.

Yaholo leaned his head forward and placed his forehead against the back of Rilind's head, before closing his eyes. Tears that had welled up from before came streaming down as he held the other man close and relished in the feeling of the moment. He had dreamed of this so many times, a soft bed, his lover in his arms, and a feeling of pure happiness radiating all around them, like the warm light of a sunrise on a clear day by the seas of Jauhar. To finally have this dream be a reality was the reward for withstanding those months of hardship alone, he was sure of it.

"...I've never heard of such things." He muttered, his eyes fluttering open. "Bug men? They must have been pretty horrifying, considering what they did to you..." He observed the bandage covering the worst of Rilind's wounds and gave him a kiss on the back of his head. "I'm glad that we were both thinking of each other. All through the war, all I wanted, all I could think about... Was seeing you again. Rastian had told me that you had been captured, so... Naturally I was already worried when you didn't show up at the war..." He paused, biting his lip. "... An old man told me that you had died just as we got to Neued, the village we retreated to. I tore through that forest like I was fighting for my life just to get to that monument he spoke of... I was devastated."

Rilind gave a nod of his head, letting his eyes close for a moment, "It's the second time I've dealt with them. The first time it was only one of them and I made the grave mistake of letting it go. It had lost an arm and I... felt like I would be acting too much like my father if I kept the fight up any longer at that time." He sighed and shook his head, "This time they came back in force, took a hostage... I just... I didn't have a choice this time and I had to... kill them..." He didn't exactly like the feeling of it but given that it was kill or be killed, he hadn't exactly had a choice. He had had to take them out or they would have killed him for certain instead of just almost which they had succeeded in doing.

Turning slightly to look at Yaholo he asked, "What... exactly happened? I mean... I understand to a degree about the war but not really. Who attacked us? If not the bugs then... who?" If anything it might make sense that they went to war against those bug like creatures, they didn't seem friendly in the least bit, instead they seemed out to get him on two occasions now. Yaholo said that he hadn't heard of such things before though meaning that it couldn't have been them that started the war. It was strange, who else would start it? One of the other clans? He really didn't know any of them well enough to even fathom a guess.

Moving his hand to rest it on Yaholo's hand, lacing their fingers together, giving it a squeeze, he said, "I... am sorry... to have caused you so many problems. If I had known, that they thought me dead... that they made some monument... I am just... sorry." The last thing he wanted was to hurt Yaholo, he was always the one that he wanted to protect, it was why he'd avoided him so much in the past. He didn't want his father to realize the connect between them, didn't want to see Yaholo get hurt because of him.

"Dear Aisha, those things sound horrific." Yaholo gawked, his arms tensing as Rilind spoke. They had attacked his Ril twice and took hostages? They sounded like savages! As if the Obans weren't bad enough of a threat, now he had to worry about strange bug men killing and kidnapping, too. He didn't even know what they looked like... How was he supposed to keep Rilind, and the rest of Jauhar, safe from these awful things?

As the conversation turned towards the war, Yaholo found himself puffing his cheeks out in frustration. The war had been one insane thing after another, from the massive amount of Oban warriors, to the giant beasts that they had to fight. It was absolute madness! He leaned his head against Ril's again as he exhaled, and allowed his arms to relax.

"To put it briefly, an entire race of Earthlings we've never met decided to come and take us over." He replied, sighing. "Their king thinks we're all a bunch of savages that he can trample upon for his own gain. Some sort of crazy egomaniac, I suppose, we never did get to see him." He paused, his lips pursing. "...We ended up retreating to Neued, a Shifter colony on the southern edge of Jauhar. Massive amounts of people, children and adults alike, were captured, along with two of our elders, Freya from Zena, and Besian from... Well, Oba, the exact place of which we were fighting against. He had come to warn us about the King's plan during that tournament some time ago, but it wasn't enough time for us... I can't imagine what's happening to the two of them now. It can't be good."

He heaved another, long, heavy sigh, and nuzzled against Rilind. It was so good to have him near... Just... So good.

"No, no, Ril... Sweetheart..." He squeezed Ril's hands back. "I understand. You have no reason to apologize. You've never needed to apologize as long as I've known you. I'm the one who should be apologizing..."

He found himself pausing again after his last sentence, his face scrunching up. ...He was silent for a minute or so, his mind deep in thought, before he let out another sigh.

"When I was a child, I wasn't allowed to touch other Alkidikes, or ask to be picked up or held." He said, his voice like a whisper. "If I went too close to them for their liking, I was shoved backwards and starved. I lived on roots and whatever I could find on the ground for years, until, one day, I woke up alone in the middle of the forest." Tears welled up in his eyes. "I found Tale and wandered aimlessly for Aisha knows how long until I met the gates of Yera. The new people terrified me and I immediately tried to hide, but a strange man picked me up and called me his son... I froze in his arms like a paralyzed animal."

He squeezed Rilind's hands again and took a deep breath.
"It took me years to understand the difference between a hug and a threat." He said. "It took me years to understand what love and kindness were. It took me years to learn what a family was and how that system worked... And it took me years to stop running away and freezing when someone held me close." He bit his lip. "...Ril, I know why you run. You don't want be hurt, you've been through enough. I understand that. I spent most of my life hiding, running, and fearing people, too. But, I love you, and I want you to know that love is a wonderful, beautiful thing, and it saved me from a life of darkness and anger... And I believe that it can save you, too."

Rilind let his eyes sink closed, concentrating on Yaholo's voice as he told him about what it was that was going on. He gave a slight shudder, "That king sounds too much like my father, it's actually a little frightening... to think someone like that has so much power. A king no less... " And he'd thought that the power his father wielded had been bad enough, but to know that there was a king out there that had the same sort of attitude as the Ice Tribesman that he was so afraid of, it wasn't something that he liked the sound of. He was glad that he hadn't had to deal with the guy himself it such a thing were true. It had taken everything he had to stand up against his father some time ago, something that resulted in him doing everything he could and only scratching the man. He didn't know if he had it in him to stand against his father again or anyone with a similar personality. Then again before he'd ventured away from home he really hadn't had it in him to stand against anyone and he'd proven himself wrong in his battles against those Bug Mages... so maybe he had more in him then he'd first assumed?

He forced his eyes to open, looking over at Yaholo as the other man told him that he didn't have to apologize, that he never did, and that he was the one who should be apologizing. It was something that caused him to laugh a little even though it hurt to do so, "Why? You weren't the one that was always running away from me... I can't quite understand it, why you still care about me... when you really could have moved on, forgotten me, found someone more stable." He knew he was far from it, there were so many things that he had been terrified of, still was terrified of or didn't understand. The fact that he was so close to Yaholo at the moment, the fact that he had sought him out and clung to him earlier, was so unlike how he'd been before. If he had just been able to open up to Yaholo then things might have been different.

Turning to look at him he listened as the other told him a story of long ago, of when he was younger, what happened to him, how it felt in a way similar to what he'd been through. Save for the fact that it had taken him a lot longer before he'd found someone that had held a hand out to him... and he'd turned tail and ran from the one that offered the hand out to him. That Yaholo seemed as though he'd still forgive him for that, it would never make sense to him. He had every right to be mad at him, to hate him even, the way that he kept vanished in his attempt to keep one step ahead of all the bad things. He wasn't really sure what to say, wondering if he wanted for him to tell him about his own family, but he'd much rather not. Yaholo knew to a degree that his father was an awful person, though how awful... well, he'd rather he didn't know. He didn't want Yaholo to get any ideas about going after the man, he didn't want him to think he had to do such a thing to avenge his honor or anything.

Especially now that he was 'dead' something he was more then certain Hesutu would learn soon enough if there was a monument. Lifting a hand up, the one on his less injured side, he set to toying with one of Yaholo's dreds for a moment, "I think... maybe... these injuries were a good thing. They held me in place so you could find me, protected me from those who would rather me be kept in a cage, and it kind of... keeps him from running again." He murmured after a moment of thought as the other man assured him that he loved him, that he felt love was a wonderful thing that could save him just as it had saved Yaholo. It might be able to do so much but being stuck in place due to his injuries would likely help out, it would give him time to get used to spending a lot of time in such close quarters with another person like he was now.

Yaholo paused, his body tightening at the question that Rilind had posed. Why? Why? He forced his eyes closed and clenched his teeth, doing his best not to let his next reply fly out like rocks against a wall. It hurt, the questioning. How the hell... Why would he... He sighed.

"No. I couldn't forget about you." He stated. "I never forget someone who has touched me, Ril. Spiritually, mentally, physically... I never forget."

The Massif moved away from Rilind, then, and moved to lay down on the side that Rilind was facing, before wrapping his arms around him again.

"The way you speak about yourself is so damaging." He said, running his hands through Rilind's hair. "How can you expect yourself to be free from your father if you keep acting as if you are what he thinks you are? You'll never find peace for yourself. You should be kinder to yourself."

He nuzzled his forehead against Ril's and shuffled down to look into his eyes.

"...They're still beautiful even if they aren't yellow anymore..."

Rilind could feel Yaholo tense up, saw the manner in which his teeth seemed to clench, and instantly e was on edge, worried that he had said the wrong thing. Had he anger Yaholo? Enough to make the guy take a swing at him? It was an old fear, one that was less associated with Yaholo and more Ril's own father. Seeing the man getting upset, his teeth clenching, it seemed to be a prelude to bad things to come... but instead Yaholo spoke. It was a bit surprising. Instead of yelling at him, wanting to take a swing at him, to hurt him for saying the wrong thing he instead just told him that he couldn't forget about him. It was a strange though, that he wouldn't forget about him. What was it about him that made Yaholo like him? What made him want to be around him? What was it that made him special to Yaholo when Ril's own father hated him with such a passion?

"I'm... sorry, it hard to keep his words from always echoing in my head." He said, leaning into the hands that were stroking his hair instead of doing anything harmful. He had to remember that Yaholo was safe... he wasn't the sort that would harm people for fun or just because he could or because he was angry. No, Yaholo was a lot nicer then that he told him over and over in his head, "It's... hard, trying to free myself from him but... maybe with time, with you, it would be possible?" He hoped so at least, the idea that might be able to one day see in himself what Yaholo could see. It was something that he really wanted.

Suddenly he found himself starring into Yaholo's eyes, their gazes locked, and he couldn't help but to flush a bit at his comment, "Ahh... I... thank you..." He murmured, "I was told that it was the spirits of Tale that changed them a while ago, not long after they found me, back when they thought I was going to... ahh..." He trailed off, shaking his head, not really wanting to think too hard on the fact that he'd almost died or that it was the intervention of the spirits of Tale that had saved him when nothing else could.

Yaholo's body relaxed again as Rilind blushed and had to force his mouth to stay straight to refrain from giggling at how cute he looked. It was sad to know that such a horrible person could have a massive impact on how Rilind thought about himself, and yet he wanted nothing more than to deviate from that abuse. Yaholo scanned Rilind's face almost contemplatively, his hands drifting to ruffle his hair, before leaning in and placing a gentle kiss upon his lips.

"I know you can be free, Ril. You're so much more than you know." He said, nuzzling his forehead. "... I know you have a long way to go before you'll be anywhere near ready for traveling, but I would love nothing more than for you to move in with me and..." He paused, blushing. "My twins... They already know about you and how much you mean to me."

Rilind found himself thrown by the sudden kiss, finding it to be something very unexpected. Sure, Yaholo had tried to hug him in the past, was even cuddling with him now, but a kiss...? That wasn't something that he had expected to get from the guy and now that he had he couldn't help but to just stare for a long, drawn out moment. He then lifted the hand on his good arm to his lips, letting the tips of his fingers trace against them, a thoughtful look on his face, "I... ahh... that was... nice..." The last time that Yaholo had tried to be nice to him before this he'd ended up flailing about and knocking himself into a river. He was kind of glad that he was too tired to do much more then just lay here at the moment, it allowed him to just... enjoy everything. It was just a shame that it took such wounds to force him to sit still for once.

As Yaholo spoke again he found himself relaxing, eyes sinking half shut when the other man nuzzled against his forehead, listening to his deep, voice. It was a soothing sound, one that made him feel safe somehow... and he was close to drifting off just listening to the nice things that he was saying, suggesting that maybe he move in with Yaholo when he was better. Well, that was move in with Yaholo and his... twins...?

Eyes popping open he starred up at Yaholo for a long moment before he found himself mulling over that, as well as the implications, before he asked, "You... you have a woman? Are you sure that you should be here with me then? Isn't it unkind of you to leave her home with your twins while you are... are flirting...?" He didn't like the thought of being the 'other woman' if Yaholo already had someone out there who'd had his kids.

"A woman?" Yaholo gasped, his eyes growing wide. "Wha-What made you think-"

Oh, right. Rilind was from Zena and had no idea who Aisha was. The Massif blushed furiously as he tried to think of the proper way to explain his Great Mother to Rilind without sounding completely out of his mind, which was what typically happened whenever he tried to explain her to anyone else before him. He murmured to himself for a moment, clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, and sighed.

"Ril, Alkidikes come from a giant tree that we worship as out Great Mother, Aisha." He began. "I know it sounds completely far fetched, you aren't the first one I've had to explain this to, but I came from that very tree, and so did my sons. My sister, Tahigwa, also came from that tree as well. Aisha gives life to us by creating us in lotus blossoms in which we grow until we are ready to be born. However, before we can be born, our parents have to go and plea to Aisha in hopes she'll make a child in our image. But, this is only true for some of us, because Aisha also creates Alkidikes on her own who don't have any other parents but herself... It's complicated."

After explaining as best he could, he fell silent and returned to nuzzling Ril.

"When you're all healed up, I can bring you across the isles to meet Aisha, and you can see her for yourself." He gave him a kiss on the forehead. "But, for now, please don't think I have another lover, certainly not of the female sort. I live in a tribe filled with women, Ril, and they're all angry or generally uncaring. I could never imagine myself with any of them, I think it would be an utter nightmare."

There was a part of Rilind that wanted rather badly to explain to Yaholo that he understood, that he had been away for a long time, and that there was no evidence that he would return. Yaholo shouldn't be so guilty over finding someone else that he felt he should make up such a fantastical story about how his twins came to be. A magic tree mother that gave birth to lotuses that changed into children? It seemed a bit too far fetched for Ril but then again he never was the sort that got swept away by such things. The closest that he got to fantasy and stories when he was little was making up in his head what his dream family was like. Yaholo it seemed had a far greater imagination then he did though, talking about some rather crazy things that Ril would never have been able to come up with.

The problem was that he sounded so sincere... meaning that either it was true or be believed it to be true. Ril leaned toward the latter. One needed a mother and a father to make a child, everyone knew that, but Yaholo seemed convinced that a magical tree could do it. It was one of those things that he just didn't get, merely nodding in agreement when Yaholo finally just said that it was 'complicated' which he felt was probably the understatement of year.

"Perhaps." He murmured, when he was told that when he was healed up he could meet wth Aisha. He wasn't sure about that, about going somewhere strange to meet a tree that may or may not be magical. Who was to say that he'd even be welcome? A thought that he tried to quash, knowing full well that those were the sorts of thoughts spread by his father's poison. He couldn't think that way... even though it was hard to do otherwise. It really was going to take some time to truly free himself but he felt that such a thing, as well as even the idea of getting back up on his feet, would be made easier with Yaholo around. At the same time he worried, "I... ahh... shouldn't you be home? With you kids? I mean... I don't know how long it will take me to get better." He glanced toward the side, to his shoulder, "That is the worst of my injuries, it happened when..." He trailed off, shaking his head, deciding against saying. He didn't want to worry Yaholo with the gory details after all.

Lifting his good hand he reached toward Yaholo, hesitated, seeming to be struggling for a moment, before finally letting his fingers brush against his cheek. It was alright, he didn't think that Yaholo would over react to him trying such a thing, especially given as cuddly as the bigger male was being. He felt it was something he dare to do without any sort of repercussion.

Something about the way Rilind responded told Yaholo that his explanation wasn't believed, and honestly, he couldn't blame him. A magical tree that grants children to those who ask for them, it was about as crazy as most mythology to the ears of a non-Alkidike. He sighed, but tried to refrain from looking disappointed or hurt, and stroked Rilind's hair.

"...I should be home with them." He said, his expression faltering. "But, I don't know if I should go back now. I'm not in good shape. Plus, I've left them for months, what if they've gotten angry with me? They're almost old enough for weapons and I've done pretty much nothing to prepare them. ...I can't just go back and ask them to forget about this, either."

He allowed his forehead to rest upon Rilind's and lingered in the moment they were sharing. He knew he had to leave in the morning, the group outside had only allowed him to stay for the night. But, still, that meant leaving Rilind here, when he so desperately wanted to pick him up and take him back home with him. He cursed himself for being so impulsive, maybe if he hadn't been so stupid, he could've found Rilind months ago! It was enough frustration to make him cry!

"Your group outside has only allowed me to stay the night, though." He continued, biting his lip. "...I can't be a burden on them and distract them from healing you... But it will hurt me so much to leave you here, even though I know you're in good hands. I swear, I'll visit you as much as I can, and maybe even bring the boys out if they've behaved." He pulled Rilind closer. "Just promise me you won't vanish. I want so much to bring you into my home and show you everything that you could have and that you deserve. I love you so very much."

Pidgeons Go Meow X3

It was one of those moments where he felt oddly disappointed in what Yaholo was saying but at the same time understood. He should be back with his family, with his twins, not here in the middle of no where. He gave what smile he could as he said, "I... wish I knew what to say. I know deep down that you are a better father to them then mine was to me, no matter what I feel that they will probably forgive you for whatever you did." He would never be able to forgive his own father, the man was a monster, but Yaholo... he was too good to do anything truly bad. He was one that probably made a good father, the sort that everyone wished they had, Ril included.

His eyes sank closed as Yaholo's forehead came to rest on his own, a rather close and friendly sort of gesture. It was the sort that he wasn't used to and yet he rather... liked it. His eyes only opened again when the other man spoke up again. He starred up at him for a long moment, then nodded, "I understand." As much as he wanted to ask Yaholo to stay with him he knew that it would be incredibly unfair. Yaholo wanted him to stay him in the past and he'd run. If he were to ask Yaholo to stay when he had a real reason to leave. He had to get back to his children after all, something that was beyond important, "I would like you to visit... but you should talk with them first before you go. He will know where we will be, we don't settle down long."

Cuddling closer to him, eyes sinking closed once more, looking rather exhausted he said, "I won't run this time... I don't have to any more." He was glad that he'd been declared dead, it allowed him a chance to be free of his father. He was just a little saddened that it had hurt Yaholo so much. He could only hope that he could forgive him for it. He felt himself starting to drift a little, smiling a bit as he heard Yaholo's declaration, "I think... that is the first time anyone's said that to me." He murmured against the bigger male's chest in a quiet tone.

Orpheus Solon
The feels in this rp are so strong. ;3;

Rilind's words put Yaholo's mind at ease, and allowed him to let out a reliving sigh. He was right, he was a good father, his kids loved him and, even if they were angry with him, he knew all it would take was some hugs and kisses to earn their trust again. He could never say the same for Ril's father, who he knew if he ever saw, he would find a reason to give him exactly what he had given to Ril. There was no forgiveness for a man who harmed an innocent child, no matter the circumstances. It was nothing short of a heinous act against someone who couldn't fight back.

"They're moving around a lot while you're this injured?" He said, arching an eyebrow. "If anything, they should be in a village, for Aisha's sake. How do they expect you to make any progress if you're always being moved? I'm not even remotely close to being a healer and even I know that."

He pouted and blew out a puff of air, before allowing himself to rest again. He was being over protective, he really needed to put his faith in these people. They'd saved Rilind from certain death, surely they would be able to keep him safe all through the stages of his healing, too.

"I'm glad you don't have to run anymore, Ril." He said, nuzzling his forehead against Rilind's hair. "Even if the circumstances are poor, I have nothing but faith in you. You're stronger than you know, you'll be better before you know it."

Rilind forced his sleepy eyes open, looking up at Yaholo, before giving him a smile, "Mmm... well, injured or not they have a job to do. I don't want to drag them down, Yaholo, so I do my best to move when they do." He explained, finding it rather nice that Yaholo was concerned. It was so unlike what he was used to in the past and it just made him want to soak it all in. His eyes closed again before he lifted a hand, petting it against the bigger man's hair in a soothing manner, "It's alright... there is a healer with the group, he is taking good care of me." Another thing he wasn't used to, having someone about that would treat his wounds. There was Hesutu he supposed, the man had helped to patch him up in the past when his father was too rough on him, but he was no healer and he wasn't quite reliable since he was the right hand man of Ril's father. He helped on occassion but he wasn't one that could be relied on.

Shifting a little closer to Yaholo, letting an arm slide around him, he said, "I... am kind of sleepy Yaholo... stay at least until I doze off?" He murmured, not sure how long it was that he was going to stick around since he had to get back to his children but he wanted to at least keep him for a little bit longer if he could. He just wouldn't say as much, not wanting to guilt Yaholo into sticking around longer. He'd stayed a while, it was a nice visit, a rather reassuring one, but Yaholo had things he needed to do. When he was feeling better he would just try to find him again if Yaholo hadn't returned on his own yet.
