Kidnapping. Rhaegar heard that too. He frowned deeply and suddenly it was a little harder to just hold still. These kalonas were apparently the worst sort of villains. The tip of his tail flicked with building anger before Rhaegar willed it still. If not for his companion, he probably would have charged out right there. The kalonas kept on talking about their poor captured hostage... talking and laughing.

It made him seethe to hear the marauders talking about destroying the lives of others in such a light manner. He glanced sideways to Sabishii. He didn't see much of a reaction there, just a certain tightness of the face. He looked tense with apprehension, but not necessarily surprised. Interesting.

Rhaegar shifted slightly. Even though it was a small movement, it was enough to set his armor clinking. He was quick to still himself, but his anger was not so easily settled. Even with Sabishii's insistence, it was hard to hold himself back. There was the worst sort of evil afoot here and it was a dishonorable thing to stand back while one's enemies plotted to harm the weak or innocent.

He raised one hoof, then stopped. Sabishii stared at him with such urgency that he felt frozen in place. He couldn't stop the injustice without creating another injustice, putting Sabishii into harm's way. Reluctantly he set his hoof down, but his armor clinked once more.

Suddenly, the kalonas had stopped. Their ears pricked, as if noticing something. Inwardly, Rhaegar cursed. Had they been able to hear the sounds of his armor from that far?

Rhaegar was very aware that he was not well suited for stealth. Even when he was completely silent, his color made him stand out in almost any environment. He was silver-coated and silver-maned. Sunlight had a way of catching and dancing in his hair, making it look almost metallic. It was very beautiful, but not very good for when one wanted to not be spotted.

Uncomfortably, Rhaegar shifted his head slightly. Now he was in a little more shade, a little less light able to set him sparkling. Would that be enough? Or would he end up having to fight the strangers, just like his companion feared?

Rhaegar also felt relief when the kalonas moved away, but it was relief tempered by a bright spot of anger in the back of his mind. He was more careful in his escape from their foliage prison, not wanting to get plant matter trapped in his armor. His mouth was creased in a stiff frown, one that was not improved by hearing what Sabishii had to say.

"I understand that you must protect yourself," he told Sabishii. "As such, I will not burden you with my company any longer, nor will I burden you with knowledge of my future actions. Whatever happens next, you have done well by me here, and that is enough." He was unhappy with Sabishii's attitude, but the stallion had done his best to protect him. That was something that had to be acknowledged.

"Thank you," said Rhaegar to Sabishii's retreating form. He meant well, but Rhaegar sensed there were forces at work that he was not aware of. This was apparently a very dangerous herd he had stumbled upon. As he thought, he did not move from the spot where Sabishii had left him. He felt that it was his duty to do something to stop the supposed kidnapping, but was there anything he could attempt without certain demise?

He shut his eyes briefly, turning his face upwards and inhaling deeply. If only he had guards, herdsmates, any sorts of allies in this alien land. If he had not been a lone stallion, he might have been able to do something to stop this travesty... but perhaps there were others. Perhaps he could find someone to stand by his side to stop the kalona....
