That was a bullseye.
Hit, Al was knocked head over heels with a force that made him see stars. When he finally (eventually) came to a stop, he was flat against the grass and dirt for a moment.
Wakeh wakeh~ Nuru mentally prodded his hunter to get up. Al had no choice but to comply, especially before another attack followed. He got up, caked in mud and grass debris, and ran straight at Otto and cracked Nuru across the area of his head.
He was giving it his all, unfortunately even with certain debuffs he was an ant going after the lion.

Otto charged forward as well. There was no sense in running from him or trying to dodge. It was best to go in, head on.
He received a knock to the head, but it only helped fuel Otto's spirit to attack. He barely winced, bringing Tenya down on Al's shoulder, and then swiping across his chest to push him back down.

Al felt the impact literally fling him to the ground. A loud yelp and then gasp could be heard as he could swear that knocked the wind out of him but Nuru ensured that it didn't stay that way long. Al lifted his arm, aiming at Otto.
A spark went off inside the mouth of the staff head, followed by a pillar of flames that erupted right past Otto. They missed.
Careful, ah can't go much longah.

Otto thought he might have been in trouble just then, his eyes going wide as Nuru sparked. But he ducked his head, and with little need as the flames aimed far away from his head altogether.

Tenya's form burned with energy, red runes flaming a bright red. Otto lifted his arm with Tenya high up, letting an abundance of energy swirl around the weapon. But as he swung down, that same energy seemed to veer his aim to the right, swinging down just beside Al, and leaving an intimidating crator in the ground by his head.

Al stared with wide-eyes at the dent that could have been his head. He swung up with Nuru from the ground, barely clipping Otto as he scrambled to his feet and back to find a range where Otto could not reach but throwing his weapon would be too close as well.
"Holy s**t man!" he called back.

"Oh. My bad." He drawled out flatly at Al's outcry, idly swinging Tenya into a spin at his side. He let the weapon go, allowing it to skid across the ground like a runaway train.
Tenya ripped past Al, slicing into his arm before turning and clipping his other arm. And then at last she returned to Otto's waiting grip.

Al was abruptly cut off by Tenya and backed up as fast as he could - only to be hit full-throttle as she went for her return. He may have flown a few feet. Only a few. He'll be okay.
That's it! Ah can' take anymore! Nuru was screaming, but Al's stubborn streak chose now to get in the way and he threw Nuru at Otto thinking, well, if he could do it. The logic seemed reasonable. Nuru merely bounced off of Otto's fear and back towards his hunter. Who has never done this before so has no idea how to catch him. Al scrambled.

Otto blinked as Nuru bounced off his body and back toward Al. He did know that a staff wouldn't work the same way a boomerang would, right? Was the kid just being petty now? It was actually pathetic the way the kid turned his back and ran after his weapon.

Al bent over and grabbed Nuru. It was at that moment he could feel the rippling percussion as Tenya fatally struck against his shield. Then a tense snap followed by the realization that there was nothing. Well, nothing that felt like Nuru anyway. There was still a safety net in place and he can't help but feel like that may have saved his a**. Well; a**, spine, the whole back area really.
He fell forward into the dirt but rolled over quickly to face Otto again. He was laughing, "man it's been forever! That was a really good fight." He crawled to his feet, Nuru already desummoned. He tried to brush off some of the debris caking his clothes. "Man you are really strong!"

Otto dismissed Tenya too. The fight was his the round. It felt good to come out on top for once. The teen huffed, running a hand through his hair as the tension of battle ebbed away.
Al's exuberance and compliment got through Otto's prickly shield, his brow twitching as he tried not to readily accept such niceties. Strong, huh? Even in his weakened state, he'd managed a victory. Then again, it was against a twiggy trainee.
"M'not really all that strong. Maybe you're just really weak." He grumbled, back, ruffling his hair in embarrassment and swiftly turning his back on the nice boy.

He huffed again and began to leave the field. Al had fun. That was good, he supposed. The kid was annoying as Hell though. He just didn't get why he was so fascinated with him. Like a little kid begging to be liked by complimenting everyone around them.

"I beat Peyton," he pointed out. Sure they were both trainees at the time, but still! He noticed Otto was leaving and scrambled after him. "That was exhilarating though. Do you have some sort of bad-a** training regimen?"

He was following him. This didn't usually happen. What did he do now? Tell him off? Maybe that'd work. Otto slowed, his icy gaze sliding to the side to glare at Al. "No. I'm just active." And he'd seen about a hundred more battles than this squirt had.
"Don't you got friends or somethin'? Why're you followin' me around? If you just want advice, I ain't got none for ya."

Otto's heart had a moment just then. Did he break the kid's heart and tell him he hated his stupid twiggy guts? Or spare his feelings so that he wouldn't burn bridges? < >
I don't want a friend who just idolizes me! It's creepy!
The teen stopped walking and fully turned toward Al. "No. I'm not." He said as he looked Al right in the eyes. "You don't know me, and I don't want you to know me." He could lie and say he didn't want anybody to know him. But how lonely would that be? Why did he narrow his group of friends to a select few? And why were they mostly women? He felt bad. He didn't know why he felt bad for pushing this kid away.

Al looked startled by what Otto had to say and then downright stung by it. He immediately avoided Otto's gaze and sunk back in dead silence. He had nothing to say at that point and just... stared at his own feet really.
That's okeh, ahm your frien' and there's Rep, an Jordan, an Noah, an America... people who want ya. Boil dunno what he missin'.
It didn't hurt any less.
