Evan was dismayed to find that he was mildly annoyed and wasn't entirely sure why. He was pretty sure Alistaire was laying some kind of ******** on him, but he wasn't sure what it was or why he was doing it. "And I told you you don't have to stay. You'd fit right in with Life. Or Death," he muttered.

He noticed the lack of strength in the trainee's strikes and, despite his irritation, did him the favor of only retaliating with the blunt front of the sword, hitting him in the midsection. If Evan was lucky, he'd knock the wind out of Alistaire enough that he'd stop talking. If he was less lucky, well, hopefully someone would be on duty in the infirmary, even at this hour. "You don't care if you live or die, sounds like a death wish to me. Maybe that's why you got put in Sun."

"I'm sure they'll get more use out of your inclinations anyway," Evan replied, still not sure exactly what Alistaire's motives were. "We don't need anyone here who doesn't want to be here."

He unsummoned his weapon and pointedly declined to offer the trainee a hand up. Evan had tried like hell to be polite, and had gotten nothing but double-talking and rudeness in return. "How about you read between these lines?" Evan retorted with a deceptively amicable smile, holding up his three inside fingers. He let all pretense of friendliness drop, his tone flat as he said, "Enjoy Life, Al," and turned and walked off the training fields.
