It wasn't nice of them to make you be sheriff... emo

So you know quite bit about native culture then?

Where you out in Oklahoma by any chance?, we might know some of the same people.

llynnyia
Racism the application of a set of beliefs good or bad about a group of people, who share similar features, to that group of people, which may or may not be true.- anthropology 101.

(sorry since you used it i will continue with the indian analogy)
Racism in colonial era- the savage Indian.
Racism in the victorian era -the noble savage
Racism in the first half of the 1900's - savage but able to be rehabilitated with forced 'education'.
Racism in the 70's and 80's - the enlightened native american.
Racism in the 90's the sad Indian

I just want us to stop labeling others period.

Spot on, except the the re-eduction started early on. They'd take the children away and if they spoke their native tongue they were beaten. That's part of the history few non-natives know about... cause it isn't talked about. emo

The one that makes me cry the worst is the before and after pictures where young women would have wonderful long hair , proud , healthy strong. then their hair was cut in flapper styles they lost weight , you can tell they were broken and unhealthy.

I know a bit. Around when Bruce (stepbrother) reached puberty we stopped going out to the res. There was a big drug and alcohol problem out there for a while, one which involved my step sibblings father. Then not long after the 'elders' started kicking members off the rolls so the upcoming casino deal would be more profitable for the 'pure' members . ya 'pure' like the only one who could still speak the language? nope she was kicked off for not file by the right time, she was kicked off the res at 89 years old when she had never stepped off it in her entire life.

Nope Foothills of California. Sierra Miwok & Maidu tribes
