Kelina chuckled for a moment as it seemed Ime had found a reserve of energy. "My sister is very tough looking, I definitely wouldn't want to be going against her!" At the compliment from her, Kelina scratched the back of her neck and blushed. "I still have quite a bit of training I need to do to gain my next rank I believe." Especially after this battle, she couldn't imagine her elders possibly promoting her after her sad performance. Grateful for the change of topic, Kelina cocked her head to the side as she thought about the animals Lasarra has. "Lasarra always comes across all kinds of animals. Most of the times she'll sell or trade to someone else for things we need. But she has kept a few to herself. She has a Moracker that she named Honey, a Scorra named Dehaka, but her pride and joy is her Radaku named Izsha. She's raised him since he was a pup and he understands so many different verbal and physical commands." Kelina was proud of Izsha like her sister was, and was even prouder of her sister for being able to accomplish what she had with the radaku. grasshopper pie Sorry for taking so long!!

"A scorra, ooh..." Ime mused, imagining the elegant birds that seemed so flighty. To have one that obeyed commands? That would be something wonderful. She had only ever had a Menck herself. Maybe she should look into beast taming for the future... she should look into everything, shouldn't she? It just seemed like such a bad time to start bothering others about their craft. She knew she looked young, that might even have turned them away quicker.
"How's archery? I mean... obviously it's your favorite. You're good at it. I can't imagine..." She drew one arm back and stuck the other out, feebly mimicking the drawing of a bow. "It seems so difficult! And didn't you use blades in the tournament? That's quite a change, I have to say." Her arms dropped while she tilted her head in thought.

Kelina laughed a little bit at Ime's exuberance. "Daheka is one of the newer animals my sister had brought home so I haven't had much experience with them myself, though they sure are pretty!" Ducking her head at Ime's compliments, a slight blush rose to her face. "Well thank you. Your confidence in me boosts my own confidence. It's not so bad once you get used to it! A lot of it can be boiled down to muscle memory and patience. It takes a lot of practice to get that muscle memory but when you do, it just comes naturally. When shooting with a bow, you have to have patience to wait for just the right moment, as you have to with a lot of other things as well."
Cocking her head to the side, she thought about the tournament. Had she used blades? "Actually, I think I had used a simple bow then. Though I do think my sister used blades!" Yes yes, that sounded right. Kelina did think that Lasarra had used blades in the tournament so maybe Ime was remembering Lasa and not herself.

Or, of course, the girl had simply forgotten a long-ago memory. After all, the fun had come after Kelina had already fought. Ime shrugged and smiled, undeterred.
"So then you got some practice in early! Did you... I mean..." the girl paused to try and reason out her words before she blurted them, "Did you know already what you wanted to do, or did fighting with a bow make the decision?"
Really, it was silly to be so worried so young about her future, but a constant thought niggled at the back of her mind: what if she never found out what she was meant to do?

With Ime's question, it made Kelina really have to think back to when she made her decision. Had it been before the the tournament or after? "Hmmm. Before the tournament, I was kind of torn on what I wanted to do. My mother, rest her soul, was a skilled healer and taught me a lot of what she knew before she passed. But I was drawn to the bow. I felt like if I didn't become a healer, I would be letting my mother down. The tournament having me fight with a bow really cemented it in my head that I wanted to become an archer. I know now that the things my mother taught me will supplement my skill set well and that she would be proud of me." Kelina smiled. She hadn't thought of her mother in quite some time. The thought made her happy, and of course made her miss her mother a little bit. It was a pain that would never fully go away. "Why do you ask Ime? I know when I was your age, which, lets be honest, wasn't too long ago, I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I just got lucky and the first weapon I tried I fell in love with. So my advice would just be to try everything! You'll know what you're meant to do since you won't be able to stop thinking about it."

"Oh, I see..."
Although Ime's mother was still alive, Kelina's story struck a chord with her. Her mother was a healer as well and she had always talked about being one too, but was it really what she wanted? Lately she had been doubting herself, probably because now she was about the age to choose. What if she got it wrong, and ended up making a huge mistake?
After just a few moments of frowning, though, Ime smiled again. She had as much time as she needed, didn't she? Kelina wasn't demanding she decide right now, after all.
"I think I'll try that," she said with a nod, finally standing and retrieving the water she had been carrying. "I'd better get back. They'll be wondering where their water is by now... It was nice to talk to you again, Kelina! I hope we can be friends." She could use a good role model, she decided. One who didn't constantly worry about her safety, bless Mama's heart.

Kelina smiled fondly at Ime, she knew that everything would work out for her, even if Ime didn't know it herself. "I'm really glad we got to meet again, it was really nice to catch up with you. And hey, don't feel pressured, just enjoy yourself and it'll come to you." Well, as much as anybody could enjoy themselves during wartime. "I would be really sad if we couldn't be friends. Oh yes, don't let anybody worry about you. Be safe Ime." Kel said as she watched the prentice carry the water and was on her own way as well, her thoughts much lifted. Woot! That was a cute RP. ^.^
