He understood where she was coming from with that statement and she wasn't entirely wrong. He knew a lot of people who considered their pets their children... they called themselves Pet Parents. Richard called them weird and obsessive, and yet he cared more for Baldwin and Dummy than he did to most people... did that make him a Pet Parent, or just someone who simply saw the truth in humanity and saw them as a means to a (sexual) end? Still, the idea of having children ever was such a massive turn off that he just couldn't humor the thought. "Hm, we'll see. The only one that wanted grandkids isn't around anymore, so thankfully there's no pressure there. Until then, Baldwin and Dummy will do."
No, he preferred the life of a bachelor, never the life of a settled man. How boring of a life THAT would be! He didn't want to think about it, so he wouldn't. Not here, not there, not ever. Besides, it was easier to focus on the possible friendship that was blossoming between himself and Laine, and he flashed her a wink. "I'll give you my number, then, though you're welcomed here any time. My door, and liquor cabinet, is always open, my dear Laine."
In truth, Richard didn't want Dummy out on the balcony. She was too spastic, too unpredictable, and the very idea of her seeing something of interest and taking a leap of faith was forever present in his mind. Even with Laine holding her down, he didn't want to take that chance, so he made it was to the door, preparing to use himself as a buffer to keep the dog from rushing past him so that they could go back inside. He'd rather talk with her a little longer in privacy, but Dummy wouldn't let that happen, it seemed. c**k blocked by a puppy... it would figure. "Yes, that'd be for the best, before her little puppy howls break my cold, black heart!"
She pranced in circles when Richard opened the door and returned inside, giving Richard enough time to whisper to the beautiful young lady at his side. "You are a cheeky one, aren't you? You were perfect for the Negaverse, then, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

"You never know what the future holds for you..." She had over heard all kinds of stories from her family how kids where just what their life needed to spice it up or some such thing. She grinned back at him, giving him a wink as well. "I would absolutely love to get your number darling." Her eyes flickered to the puppy again as she watched it continue to get to them before once again reaching over to scratch at Baldwin's ears. "Cold black heart my a**. I highly doubt there's anything black in you... or anything cold about you." Oops that sly grin was back. "Hmm perhaps we should find a quieter place for a talk next time? Somewhere where adorable dogs can't distract us." Laine said as she stood, following Richard back inside. Again she grinned when Richard was suddenly very in her personal space. "Oh darling..." She said reaching up and snaking a hand around his neck gently. At the same time she leaned upwards to kiss the Red Head on the lips lightly. "You have no idea how cheeky I can really be."

Richard had little care or thought when it came to the future, as he was more of the ‘in the now’ kind of guy, but he wasn’t going to carry on this debate with Laine. It wasn’t a topic he wished to discuss and he was more interested in making sure that he’d see the lovely lady again then thoughts of the future, either immediate or in the long run. And giving her his number was definitely a surefire way of ensuring that. It took only a moment to produce it, as though it was programmed into him and was one of his primary functions, and with however many times he’s given the damn thing out before it was all second nature to him. He produced a business card and he made sure to point out the second number on it. “There’s my cell, ring me whenever you like. Though you’re always welcomed in my home, should you ever have a need for a place to rest your head.”
He chuckled at her disbelief, but he wouldn’t insert his foot into his mouth. No, he loved getting attention but he was no fan of that attention being enticing a pity party, not when there were a million other valid things one could shower him with the attention he desired instead. Though the offer to find a quieter place was certainly intriguing for him and it was an offer he'd like jump onto fairly quickly. "Quiet places? I know a few... I'll have to make reservations, of course, but nothing that's out of my control."
What came next was definitely a welcome change of pace, and it was easy to ignore the two dogs around them when Laine held his attention so. It felt good, to feel someone's, anyone's lips against his own... and he could only hope it wasn't too obvious when he pulled away when the kiss was over, though not after returning the favor in kind. After all, it would have been rude not to. "Some good did come out of our matching brands, at least. Call me whenever you so desire, Laine... or if that's not enough, my door's always open for a cherished friend."

"Perfect... You will definitely be hearing from me in the future sweetheart..." Laine said as she tucked the number away so she didn't lose it. Then she laughed lightly. "Oh don't tell me that or I'll never want to leave, and then you'll be sick of me." Laine just gave him a knowing smile. "I'm sure we could find a few that doesn't require a reservation but could be just as fabulous... I'm cure between the both of us, we could come up with something clever and creative.." The smile only grew bigger when Richard returned her actions. "Guess I'm not the only one who's cheeky..." Laine murmured. "Like I said earlier, You will be hearing from me..." And she would be dropping by for sure.. "Do you know that little jewelry store over on Fifth? The family owned one??" She asked as she scribbled down her own number. "Well.. know you know where to find me. Come find me if you wanna take a moonlit stroll around the city alright?" ChibiGingi Fin I think? You can do a final post if you want. ALSO THESE TWO.

"Sick of you? I highly doubt that." Richard said with a wry grin, throwing a wink in there for safe measure. He rather liked Laine and as far as friends went within the Negaverse, they were few and hard to come back, so he welcomed the idea of allowing this relationship to blossom into something a little more than professional. It wouldn't be a full blown romance, but there was no need to stifle it... not when he so desperately needed a friend, one that he could trust. He was hoping Laine would be one of those...
The kiss the two shared gave him some hope, though, and right now, hope and pain medication was all he really had. He knew of the place she was speaking of and gave a quick nod, rather liking the idea of sharing a friendly stroll with Laine, no matter what form she was in. It all sounded so appealing to him... "I know of the place. I might make a surprise visit someday... so long as I am welcomed. Which, by the way, you are always welcomed here, should you have a need or desire, Laine. Remember that..."
He always kept his door open to friends, as well as his bed. Even if he could not oblige her now, that did not mean the offer wasn't on the table for the future. "Now, please remember to take good care of that arm of yours, and if you need me to kiss it and make it feel better, don't hesitate to call."
