Usually, Sleepless was loathe to see a familiar face (or any face at all, to be honest). Familiar faces meant small talk, and small talk was the worst thing ever invented. But, today, she was thrilled. Hurriedly dropping the beeswax, she called out to the black and blue buck, "ALONE IN THE DARK! CAN'T BE!"

" Of course it can, hahaha!" He laughed, merrily, and came over with a little bow to both of the ladies. " Sleepless! How strange it is to see you outside that little shack of yours, deep in the swamp, out in the day, bathed by sunlight - and with someone else, even! How queer!"

She regretted it already.
Nevertheless, this was her best chance for help: ”Yes,” she said, trying hard to convey with her eyes just how crazy her companion was and how desperately she needed help to escape, ”isn’t it strange?! It’s so unlike me, it’s almost as if someone were making me do it against my will!”

"The Motherfather works in mysterious ways," he said with a mystical tone. "It's a bit of a shame, I did like your patch of land but I suppose it's good for personal development! Make the best of it, yes?"

”No,” her eye movements intensified, ”I miss my home very much. I wish you could take me back right now.”

"Yes, I understand. I feel like that sometimes, as well. But there is much out there! Broaden your horizons and learn from your journey." Can't Be smiled generously. "It would improve your trade. Besides, we can't be rude to your friend. Who is she?"

”Her name is Bitter End,” she emphasised, ”and she’s - she’s going to end up turning me into one of those things you like so much.”

"A very cute doe?" he said quizzically with a beam. "Not that you aren't already - but I'd be happy to stay around to find out, haha!" It was odd how clearly he vocalised his laughter, somewhat eerie and infuriating. But all he was doing was standing there, looking merry.

Bitter End had enough of this little diversion - she had been waylaid by a buck enough, and she was not going to let some fellow stand in their way of Getting Things Done. "It was nice to meet you," She hissed, having barely met him, "but we're in a hurry and I'm afraid we can't chitchat any longer. Now excuse me." She shoved Sleepless in the ribs, pointed a hoof at her beeswax, and snapped her head in another direction.

She threw a last beseeching look at Can’t Be, but the ghost-hunting idiot remained as oblivious as ever. Utterly defeated, Sleepless picked the beeswax up and followed.

She marched them into a clearing with the sound of wings - but there was nothing, spare the slight flicker of shade. The sky was clear. Bitter End was irate.

Sleepless shrugged at her ire, looking around for the bird - no bird, but the jellyfish were migrating…
For a moment, she forgot her woes, staring at that beautiful, glowing, improbable cloud. Jellyfish confounded her scientific mind - everything about them suggested that they ought to be waterbound, but there they were, drifting through the sky, tentacles swaying. Nevertheless, utterly gorgeous.

"Oh great," End said things very loudly under her breath. "It's my sister. I guess I have to say hi."
She trotted over, tail stiffly upright, and unwillingly called "Pristine!"

Bruise Pristine stopped in her tracks at her sister’s voice. She stood there, waiting for her to come over. She did not look surprised. She was probably incapable of it.
