That was expected, but the pinfall attempt was worth the almost nonexistent risk. Jake pushed himself up and looked down towards his opponent; he didn't want to stomp on the guy while he was down. Call it being too friendly, but that wasn't exactly Roman's forte. With that said, the Kid went to pick Aiden up and go for a loud chop to the upper chest to add some sting to that previous discuss clothesline he was recovering from.

Maintaining his seated posture, Aiden managed to regain some sort of clarity of mind and become more aware. Aiden allowed himself to be brought to his feet, his arms loosely at his sides. Watching as Jake pulled his arm back before sending an echoing chop to his chest heard from round' the arena, Aiden displayed a bit of pain from the slap on his chest. Trying to catch Jake before he would send another, Aiden decided he would attempt to send his own brand of a knife-edged chops right across Jake's chest in attempt to even the score. Whether or not the two teed off with chops or Jake had something else in mind, Aiden would have to focus and be aware.

The bigger of the two men was sent staggering back by the flurry of chops Aiden had sent his way, and was made aware after the first few that he would not be able to find a way to stop the incoming assault. All he could do was hold his chest and when given a break, hunch over to try to aide the sting of the blows given to him.

Content with how his onslaught of chops had managed to make their mark, Aiden figured Jake had enough of those. For now. Aiden would step back and allow his tattooed opponent an opportunity to hunch over and tend to his lit up chest. However, Aiden took this opportunity to put his arms up in a mock-defensive display while he would attempt a few low and medium kicks to the back of Jake's legs. Basically aiming to not just focus on one target and venture to attack many throughout the match.

The first kick shot a tube of pain up the back of Roman's thigh, and the eyes that clenched ever so tightly following it illustrated the pain he was enduring. The second kick, to the back of his knee (or right above it), he dropped to a knee on the mat and used his arm as leverage so he wouldn't find himself laying face first on the mat this early.

Each kick Aiden landed wasn't in the same area twice. Well, he tried for it not to be. If he was going to cause any real damage or take the fight to Jake's legs, he'd have to plan where each kick would be sent. Once Jake fell to one knee, Aiden would attempt to finish off his momentum with a simplistic, low dropkick aimed for Jake's side. With the plan to knock the guy over. Just for shits and giggles.

Once the bottom of Aiden's rushing boots connected with his ribcage, Jake rolled over on his back, clenching the side of his torso in pain. His adversary was fast -- really ******** fast. Roman had a few tricks up his sleeve as well, but it seemed as if the tides had turned in the favor of the overconfident Aiden Covell. It seems as though the advice AJ was giving him seemed to be working out in his favor, or maybe from his time in the indies, Aiden knew how to play the game with such strategy. The king and queen still stood intact with Roman, but how much longer would they last if things kept going this way?

Success. Aiden was quite pleased with his small burst of momentum and method of how he went about the past few seconds of the match. What better way to show his confidence then take this opportunity to mock the crowd. Taking in their disliking for the fact that he was showboating and taunting with means of angering the crowd even more. Just to up the anty, Aiden walked to the turnbuckle farthest from Jake and sat on top of it. Almost as if to display a sense of 'control', while letting Jake regain his stamina and momentum.

Jake rolled over on his abdomen, pushing himself up with the back of his head pointed towards Aiden. Once he was able to reach his feet and stand up once more, he turned towards the perched high-flyer, and hopefully it wasn't too late for the Kid to react towards Covell's new position.

While in his relaxed perch atop the turnbuckle, Aiden used the opportunity to catch a breather. Stroking his gloved hand through his hair and letting the raven black strands bristle about until they returned to their previous style. Noticing that Jake was in the process of standing up, Aiden had two options in mind. One, he could take to the skies and perform some aerial feat of phenomenal art to display his athleticism. Or, he could simply take the pace of the match as he saw fit. After all, it was only the first match of the Best of Five series. No need to get too hasty. Hopping off the turnbuckle and walking towards Jake, Aiden would shake his hands at his sides. Opting for his second idea, Aiden would raise both hands in front of him, open palm. Looking for a fingerlock, test of strength attempt.

Huh... it seemed as though the man with the most physical adversity in this bout (at least according to first glance) wanted to slow things downa. But and get somewhat of a restart with a test of strength. Hell, that was fine with a flustered Jake Roman. So without hesitation, Jake locked fingers with the fellow young gun, and quickly tried to bring his interlocked hand down and bend his opponent's hand backwards.

Taking note that Jake was going in for the fingerlock, Aiden would let this be a testament to see just who was stronger in this case. Hell, it might even lead to a stalemate and the two of them could just as easily push off each other. Their matches in the Indies were well contested and the crowd back then seemed to clap for how even ground both competitors were. Different techniques and styles, but meshing together well like bread and butter. Feeling the grip through his fingers and his wrist bend back, Aiden gritted his teeth as he tried to grip with an equal strength. Aiden's body was bowed back with his own back arched in the form of a perfect 'C'. However, Aiden knew that he was at a disadvantage right now so, he'd attempt to put up a fight and aim to do the same to Jake's wrist and body.

Jake's wrist was sent back as well from the extra effort given by Covell; this really was a stalemate, but stalemates didn't draw and Roman didn't have the patience either. So however many headbutts it would take to make Aiden loosen his grip, the Kid was going to throw that number of collisions to the head his way. If he could throw Aiden off long enough, Jake would try to let go of the test of strength and give the aerialist a Northern Lights Suplex (w/ bridging pin) to change the tides of war.

Stalemate was indeed a good description of how this match had started and was presented at this point in time. From Jake having Aiden bowed back with his shoulders nearly touching the mat. To Aiden finding a burst of adrenaline to stabilize his stance and cause Jake to do the same thing. Eventually, both men were back in a stood up straight stance, still engaged in their fingerlock, test of strength. However, Jake found a loophole in the process and sent a volley of headbutts in Aiden's direction. The first one was unexpected. The second, that hurt. The third, made Aiden grit his teeth more. The forth, was what finally released his grip. While Aiden was taking a few seconds to recover, Jake took the opening to wrap his arms around Aiden and flip him back in the performance of a Northern Lights Suplex. Yet, the the arms never broke contact and now Aiden was trapped in a pin. Not allowing himself to give up this early seeing as he still had more int the tank and a ton of more punishment to deal out, Aiden would do what he could to kickout and release himself from Jake's grip.
ONE! . . . TWO! . . .

Two! Jake's perpendicular shoulder was pushed upward in the air by the sheer willpower of Aiden. Jake would roll to his feet and back up towards the far corner, stretching forward anxiously awaiting Covell to rise to his feet. Once he saw an opening, the Kid would go for a running big boot, a signature of his that had given him plenty of praise during his beginning years. Whether Aiden was nostalgic of this fact or not would result in either his beheading or a close call.
