[A wonderfully lovely conch shell is nestled in the grass. It is strange to see this so far inland...]
What exactly was it? A shell the likes of which she'd never seen before, and its loveliness was without compare, drawing her in closer to examine it. the opalescence of its smooth interior was unlike the occasional shells she'd seen before, and the doe spent a good deal of time nosing over her find, curiosity overriding her search until finally she shook herself, wondering how much time she had spent on the beautiful shell. Perhaps it would be wise to leave it, rather than risk breaking it as she wandered on in her searching.

[A smooth, sunbleached lynx skull lies in a clearing.]
That same skull again--it nearly spooked her with the sudden gleam of white, and even though she recognized it as harmless Butterflies still shied up onto her hind legs, beating a hasty retreat away from it. Surely it couldn't be a good omen to run into that poor creature's skull again...

[A long-dead Grandfather tree towers over this section of the swamp. In investigating the hollows of its enormous trunk, you find a patch of luminescent fungi. If you attempt to take it, it is too bitter to hold in your mouth, and causes a strange prickling pain where it touches you.]
The fungi had looked useful when she approached the great old tree and began sniffing about its empty cavities, but the find quickly soured as she gagged on the taste, lips stinging slightly. It was disappointing, but not enough to deter her from going on with the search, and she spent a small while soothing the itch it had caused with soft tufts of grass and cool water.

[Your nosy poking around has disturbed an angry old mare, who chases you off her land. You escape without incident.]
Trespassing usually wasn't treated too seriously--though it was still rather upsetting to get chased off by one of the more territorial kin. Squealing unhappily, the doe fled with the mare hot on her heels, chased a good ways until the other was satisfied that Butterflies had gotten the message. Goodness, some kin were just so... grumpy! It wasn't as if she'd meant to trespass...

[You find a patch of mud with a strange blue tint. It has stained the grass near its borders. Not what you were asked to find, but almost undoubtedly useful. Maybe you should let him know where it is...]
How pretty--it reminded Butterflies of her own hindquarters, that same bluish hint in the pale mud. Certainly Never Idle would be interested in it, if not for the current project then for a future one. Committing the location to memory, she backtracked and went off to tell him of it, reassuring herself that it was a good expenditure of time.

[You find an ideal log. Unfortunately, rolling it free of the bracken it's trapped in and getting it back to the construction site will require some assistance! Help required. Success!]
Stumbling on another perfect log seemed to be a blessing, but it was one that again wouldn't be so easy to wrangle, and the thought of trying to take it on alone was too daunting. Not to mention, her legs were still itching from yesterday's run-in with whatever plant it had been, and for the moment Butterflies was quite tired, not wanting to walk back to Never Idle's work place to try and get help. So the doe curled up beside her find and rested her head on it with a sigh, preparing herself for a long wait until someone passed by that could help her.

Hope shakes out his dark furry coat as he emerges from a hunt for seeds. The day has been more or less a waste in that endeavor and he has decided to leave it for another day when he comes upon the doe, resting her head on a log. It seems a strange places for a nap but -- were her eyes open? "Excuse me, do you need help?"

She'd gotten about halfway to dozing off when her ears twitched at the sound of someone's hoofsteps, and the voice that spoke up thoroughly roused her. Oh! This had to be a Totoma--she'd never seen one in person, and as she got to her feet she looked him over with wonder. So sturdily built, such a thick coat of fur... for a moment the doe spaced out, staring at him almost dreamily, though after a long moment she realized it would probably be helpful to answer his question. "I certainly do--if you wouldn't mind, could you help move this log with me? Never Idle needs it for a little project of his."

The totoma takes her words in without moving, absorbing and thoughtful, before he nods and makes his way forward. "Come closer, we'll push from the center to keep an end from swinging wild," he tells her in a gentle, assured voice.

At his assent she perked up, moving into position at his suggestion and preparing herself for the arduous task ahead. "A good idea--thank you," she murmured happily, pale eyes glancing at him for a moment before she began to push at the log. With their combined strength, a loud creaking emanated from the wood as it began to move from its bed in the bracken, the crunch and crackle of dead undergrowth marking their movement as they rolled their burden where it needed to go. Hard work for the doe, and the second time around didn't seem to be any easier than the first, even with a hardy Totoma assisting her. But the work got done, and finally she'd assisted Never Idle with his project enough to be satisfied.
"I really appreciated your help," she spoke airily, giving her assisting kin a friendly cheek lick as thanks before she wandered away.

If he was not so heavily furred, his skin would show a hot pink blush creeping from his face down his neck. He nods, a squeak of welcome, before he ambles off.
