Paige knew exactly where she wanted to go next. Runners! Next to dragons and firelizards and felines, they were probably her favorite animal. Let's check the bales of hay! It was certainly safe and out of the way of the large animals. A small egg probably wouldn't come to much harm and hay was surprisingly warm.

Lathis had left the dining hall after she'd given the egg back to its mother. Well that excitement was over. Now what? There still seemed to be a number of people running around the weyr. A voice cut across her concentration.
I am hungry mine, Koioth said as she came over to join her rider.
"Lets get you fed then Koioth." She hitched a ride on the green's back as she walked toward the feeding pens. As they got there, a building caught her eye. Maybe? "Go eat and I'll meet you when your done." Lathis slid down the sleek side and made her way toward the stables. She paused in the entrance to listen to the runners. It was a silly idea, but why not. She checked the nearest manger.

Er... nope. She giggled as the runner snorted, clearly he was offended that she was digging through his hay. "Sorry boy." Moving on she glanced up into the loft. There had to be a lot of hiding places up there. Lathis heaved herself up. She peered around then went to feel through a pile of hay. At least this hay didn't belong to anyone yet.

That pile didn't have anything. Lathis moved further down and started looking through the tools and tack that were stored up there. She peered into anything she thought might hold an egg. There was a surprising amount of stuff up here. A random bag that she thought someone might have forgotten.

Man there where people everywhere searching for these eggs! With this many people on it they were certain to find them all. The thought made Paige and Venaith happy. Paige would have felt terrible if somewhere down the line someone found a brightly painted egg that had never hatched. A prank was alright as long as no one was hurt.
But this one could have hurt quite a few. It may have been done in jest, but it put lives in danger and that is not right. Venaith reminded her carefully. The young gold was below, checking some of the empty stalls as her presence made the runners a little twitchy.

There was something...... Moving below. And it sounded big. She could hear the runners rustling nervously. Curiously, Lathis poked her head down to see a rider and young gold. "Hey, you looking for the lost eggs too?" She waved down to the two. The young dragon explained the restlessness in the horses.

Paige popped her head up from between the bales stacked below and waved at the voice above her. "We are! Any luck?" It seemed to be the question of the day.
Venaith tilted her head back to see the girl peering down at them. She chirped a greeting before nosing open another loose door and entering the vacant stall behind it.

Lathis grinned at the pair. "Aye! Found one and returned it to its mama. Had to bring Koioth over to eat, so thought I'd poke around here. You?" It was nice having a dragon small enough to come in here with her, she thought as she watched the gold a moment.
Really Mine. If I was that small you couldn't ride me. Koioth said stiffly from where she pulled pieces from her wherry.
Oh I know, and you were so cute too when you were that small.

"Same! We found one hiding in the candidate barracks. Searched the Hatching Sands too but didn't see anything there. A couple others did though. Last I saw it looked like the mother had got a lot of her clutch back though!"
Venaith thrummed at the thought of food. Ok, she might have been getting hungry again after all the excitement and exercise running about the weyr. That would have to wait though till she was sure all of the eggs had been found. Speaking of which... Found one! She puffed a hot breath on it, doing what she could without touching it herself.
Paige scrambled out of the hay and into the stall Venaith occupied. There, tucked into some old rushes was a little brown egg with blue dots. "Venaith found one!" Paige picked the egg up and cupped it in her hands.
If you'll keep that warm, I'd like the look a little more.

She gave a giggle. "I found one in the hatchings sands! Thought more would have been hidden there. It's a logical place." Lathis gave a happy nod to hear that a large portion of the wayward clutch had been returned. "Us riders will do anything for an egg eh?" She laughed with a shake of her head
Though she was keeping an ear on her rider while she was eating, so she was aware that the young gold was there as well. She looked down to realize the first wherry was finished. Still hungry she went back for another. I can bring you a small piece Venaith, Koioth offered the gold diffidently.
She saw the girl hurry over to her dragon. "Oooooo alright Venaith!"

Venaith thought about it... it was tempting. They hadn't yet had uncut meat though being only a month or so old. I'll cut it up for you Venaith Paige offered, getting the jist of what was happening from Venaith's surface thoughts.
Venaith thrummed. If it is of no trouble to you I would appreciate it greatly! She replied to Koioth, her eyes a bright whirl of delight at the kind offer from the older dragon.
Paige chuckled with Lathis. "Looks like it! I'm excited! I've never had a firelizard. I'm hoping we might be allowed to attempt an Impression. I have to wonder if some people are just keeping the eggs for themselves though." She wouldn't blame them. Sure firelizards weren't in short supply for tropical Ista, but a free egg was a free egg.

It is not a problem. Settling down with her new wherry she carefully chomped a baby dragon sized portion from the fleshy breast. Laying it aside she quickly ate the rest. Picking up rest she made her way toward the stables. Luckily for the runners she couldn't go inside. It is out here, Koioth said to Venaith as she set the piece down outside.
The green then peered into the loft to see her rider. You won't find any by watching them down there.
That was a nice thing you did, Lathis grinned at her dragon as she got up to riffling through the hay. She could still hear Paige down below. "Really? I don't have a lizard of my own either. Been hoping to get one, but I wouldn't want to steal from that poor gold. Wonder how big that clutch was? Think she'll know if all of them aren't returned?"

With a great eye peering in and watching, Lathis riffled through the piles of hay. See anything bright? She could sense the dragon looking carefully over what she could see. They have hidden it well Mine. Look harder.
Look harder was she? Probably Koioth wanted her to find one since the goldrider had. Well she had found one at the Sands. That was there. This is here. Figures. Lathis peered into the shadows behind some piles of hay.

Ah! Reaching down she pulled out a large-ish egg (egg 19) . Lathis rolled it around in her hands. It was certainly interestingly colored. "Here we are Koioth." She showed it to the green, then climbed down the stairs with a grin.
"Koioth brought some meat for your gold," she grinned. "We'd better get these back to mom."

"Tell her thanks for me!" Paige waited for Lathis to reach the ground before making her way to the stables door.
Venaith had already turned the join the green outside, excited to see the gift she had been brough. You have my thanks! I am delighted and honored that you would share your meal with me. Seeing that the girls were ready to leave, Venaith eyed the chunk of meat and carefully bent to scoop it into her mouth. I will carry this Paigemine, you mind the little egg. Head lifted high so the meat didn't drag, Venaith followed the girls, eyes a whirl of bright greens as she subtly gave the partial carcass a couple experimental chews. She had yet to taste meat so fresh with all of the parts intact. What a day this would be!
Don't you go swallowing any until I can cut that up for you!
You can trust me! I will wait till you have prepared it. I am only tasting it.
