"I'm glad I could help."
He smiled back, and watched as she scribbled down notes, mildly curious about what she was writing.

Chester blinked, wondering what her last question would be, but nothing could have prepared him for what she said next.
All she was greeted with was a wide-eyed response for a short while, and then he opened his mouth, as if to say something.

He turned around to look at Jake's expression, but he wasn't happy with what he saw. It was an impassive look, as if he had accepted this fact long ago. Chester knew that death was inevitable, but it wasn't something he wanted to think about. Not right now.

"I..."
He found it difficult to answer the question, and his gaze was cast downward, wishing he didn't have to answer such a hard question.
"I... don't know. It's not something... I want to think about, but... I guess..."
His shoulders hunched, and he clutched at his arm, tail curling around his legs. "I..."

"He'd find a new partner of course, and continue what he was doing."
There was a shuffle as Jake got up, and placed a hand on top of the nergal's head.
"That's just how it is. We just have to keep fighting no matter what, don't we?"
