Where: S.S Destiny to the Port
With: No one but may get Estelle involved.
What: So... This is it, eh?

Post One: Coming into Port
Although used to the sight of cruise liners like the S.S Destiny thanks to being from Johto's premier port town; Jericho wasn't quite as used to being on as one might expect. Having taken whatever time he could to explore and try and keep from being in his cabin all voyage, eventually there was nothing left to do but sit and wait. Jericho laid back on his bed, turning his head every so often towards his trusted partner Titania the Scizor. She had been pretty mellow since they'd got on board either just following him around or sitting in the corner meditating. It really creeped Jericho out now that he thought about it, the way Titania just sat there contemplating and alone in the corner. He could hear her low growl as she hummed away to herself in order to try and obtain inner peace.

"STOP DOING THAT YOU'RE FREAKIN' ME OUT!" Jericho yelled as he picked up the nearest pillow and threw it towards the meditating Scizor. "STAAAAAHP~!" True to its mark, the pillow sailed through the air quickly and closed the gap. Titania didn't even flinch as she slowly opened one eye and without hesitation, snapped the pillow from out the air and stared towards her trainer with a scathing look. "Sci-zor! Scizor!?" Jericho put his hands on his head and growled: "Yes! Really! So stop it, okay?"

Titania grumbled to herself as she lifted herself from the floor and slotted the pillow underneath her and sat on it. Jericho rolled over on his bed and turned his back on Titania. He stared at the wall intently as the Scizor proceeded not to care, deep down she knew why he was agitated. It wasn't because of the boat or because she was meditating; it was because of the fact that he didn't want to care.

Jericho didn't want to care about the fact that he was already missing Jasmine; that Holly had called him "Daddy" on the pier as he made his way on board; that he was going to be away from his home for so long; and that when he came back he would be forced to take on a responsibility that, yes, he wanted but would now actually change his life forever. There would be no more bar fights. No more bar crawls. It would be training and Gym Battles and taking Holly to the park and making sure that Jasmine wanted for nothing. It was hard to even think about the future without having those two involved and Jericho just wanted some matter of freedom before he went back.
Maybe going away to some deserted Island won't be half bad... Jericho thought to himself, thumbing through his pocket to whip out a photo of the three of them together. Maybe... It'll help me come into port, y'know?"

A smile tugged at the corners of Jericho's mouth as he looked at one year old Holly, hanging on to him for dear life as he lifted her high above the ground and Jasmine, beautiful, Jasmine looking at the two of them and smiling. Although he often questioned whether or not what Jasmine did to him was fair? He knew how he felt about her and that was enough for him.

However, it hadn't gone unnoticed that Titania had actually stopped humming, she stood over him on his bed and she too looked at the photo behind him. He didn't even have to look either; when you'd been together as long as these two had, well, you just knew where each other seemed to be at any and all times. Titania was actually in the photo too, in the background just leaning against a tree onlooking. Everyone Jericho had ever cared about was now in this photo and rather guiltily, he turned towards Titania and his bed side table and looked towards the Pokeball rocking ominously with the waves.
"You think he's still mad?"
"Scizor, Sci. Zor Sci-zor."
"Yes, I know I named him Trousersnake."
"Scizor."
"Well, I thought it was funny."

A tone suddenly errupted from the speaker boxes in the top corners of the cabins and both Titania and Jericho had to look up. "We have arrived at Inheritance Island, passengers are asked to please be ready to disembark. Please make sure you take all your belongings with you and stow your pokemon within their pokeballs in order to make disembarking easier. Thank you and on behalf of the Captain and Crew of the S.S Destiny, enjoy your stay!"

Jericho looked towards Titania and as she nodded withdrew her into her Pokeball, picked up Trousersnake and clipped them both to his belt. He also grabbed his duffle bag and threw it over his shoulder. He also picked up his covered spear and made his way out into the corridor where all the other gym leader hopefuls were lodged.

Looking down the corridor, he couldn't help but feel that he wished he'd taken more time in looking at who had got on the ship at each stop. He knew that the Kanto Leaders were already aboard when the Johto Leaders were picked up but Jericho had hardly seen any of the other Region's representatives. Now was probably going to be one of the only times that they were all going to be together as they disembarked. Jericho wondered past the Mahogany Town Gym Leader's door and knocked on it. From what he'd seen, she was the kind of girl you wouldn't kick out of bed for farting and Jericho was always quite comfortable with that sort of company.
"Yo! Mahogany [which wasn't her name, just where she was from] everyone's getting off now! Hurry up! Don't wonna let the Johto side down now do ya?"

It was only meant to be a friendly bit of teasing and following the people all making their way off the boat; Jericho eventually got above deck and was in awe of what he could see. Inheritance looked like an island paradise you read about in books or saw in movies and as the Wingulls welcomed them with their caws; Jericho took a deep breathe of the salty sea air and smiled. This was going to be fun. He just knew it.

After making his way down the ramp, he stopped by a bunch of luggage that was being unloaded and smiled as he looked back towards the Mahogany Town Gym Leader whom had finally made it off the boat.
"Heh. You made it, nice!" he laughed, grinning. He quickly held out his hand in order to introduce himself, something he'd forgotten to do when they'd got on on Olivine City. "Jericho. Jericho Northstar. Olivine City Gym Leader. Nice to meet ya! And you are?"

Where In-transit from on board to off.With Just Fossil at first, but Jericho does get his day.What Why am I here again?

This whole trip already felt like a waste of time. Estelle was lying in bed, Fossil lying at her side with its head at the crook of her neck. Every once in a while the trainer would run her arm down the Pokemon’s back as if to pet it while her eyes were focused on the ceiling, and the Amaura would coo lightly with a little ‘Amau’ every time her hand would reach its tail. Her thoughts were wandering back to Mahogany, back to Olivine where they’d departed from and she’d said her goodbyes from. Her parents hadn’t been able to see her off, and only her grandmother could get away from the day-care center for the day to come along with Pryce and see her onto the ship. They’d all been good about it, everyone had said their fair goodbyes and everything before they saw her last, but it still felt a little empty to think of how long she’d be away from everyone she loved.

“This is all Pryce’s fault.” She mumbled, looking down to her Pokemon who perked up at her words and turned its head. Usually it was Poseidon who’d be sitting around listening to her but she’d kept him up all night with her talking madness and she felt guilty so she’d left him in the pokeball to sleep. Instead it was Fossil who was cuddled up next to her, letting her rant off her aggressions like a child until she couldn’t come up with anything more to rant about. For the most part the Amaura had listened to her, except for that one or two hours when it had fallen asleep in the void of words Estelle had let pass while she was deep in thought. At the moment though Fossil was very much awake, and Estelle was very interested in complaining. ” You don’t like him either, right? After all, you would be Riddick’s if it weren’t for him.” The pokemon nodded slightly, staring at Estelle.

There was a moment of silence while the ice gym leader tried to consider how to word her distaste for Pryce, but before she could there was a voice that came on over the intercom. Fossil jumped up quickly at the voice, immediately understanding what was said and the implications of it. She and her trainer shared a look, one second, then two, before the Amaura quickly jumped off the bed and ran to the opposite side of the room. This was how they operated, as soon as there was a chance that anyone would see Fossil being friendly with Estelle it would immediately pretend to have no interest in her. Behind closed doors they were usually quite close, but if there was even a chance they’d be seen there was no chance the Amaura would be anywhere near her. The whole dynamic was exhausting, but it was also kind of their thing, and while it was annoying, Estelle didn’t really want to change it either. So, rather than complain, she swung her feet over the edge of the bed and slowly pulled herself to stand.

”Come on you fussy Fossy, we don’t want to be late.” she stated, watching the Amaura tilt its head slightly before it realized Estelle was slowly scooting her feet across the floor toward her. This initiated the next stage of their usual dynamic: the chase. In fact, it was a full blown run around the room when the knock came at the door and both pokemon and trainer stopped dead in their tracks and looked toward the solid block of wood between them and whoever was speaking. The voice sounded familiar, probably someone else from Johto whom she met on the dock and hadn’t seen since. She’d been too frustrated when they boarded to even speak to anyone else, now she was regretting it because she definitely couldn’t put a name to it.

“I’ll be out in a minute. I’ll meet you down on the dock.” It was the best response she could come up with, and both she and Fossil seemed concerned about continuing their usual run around with anyone else around. They both waited until they heard the footsteps echo off away from the door before they went back to running in circles. It was only for another minute or so, but it was enough to wear Estelle out. Finally, after perhaps twenty laps around the room trying to catch her little Amaura, she went for the pokeball and called it back. She’d really been hoping to keep Fossil out, walk about the docks with her Amaura tucked in her arms like she’d done with Poseidon all those years ago, but clearly her little blue dinosaur was not too fond of that idea. It did seem a little more cooperative about the ball so she settled for that and slipped the little orb of red and white into the pocket in her sleeve before grabbing her duffle off the end of the bed.

Out in the fresh air on the ship deck Estelle had her first real look at what Inheritance Island would be like. There were flocks of Wingull flying about the beach and staryu gathered in hordes where the sand met the waves. Further up the island, away from the crashing waves, she could make out what looked like cabins where they’d be staying. The island itself didn’t look so bad; she just didn’t really like to think of how she got there in the first place. This was supposed to be Riddick’s place, not hers. He was supposed to sleep next to an Amaura on the S.S. Destiny and wake up at this enchanting little port, he was supposed to be the future gym leader, not her.

Trying not to dwell on it, Estelle let out a small sigh and started her decent from the ship deck and onto the dock where she was greeted by that same voice she’d heard outside the door before. This time, however, he gave her a name to go with the voice, and a face as well. Estelle pivoted on her heel to look at him and was surprised to be confronted by the face of Mr. Olivine himself. “Oh. It’s not ‘Mahogany’ by the way. Just because I’m replacing Pryce doesn’t make me a Maho native.” Her lips curled to the side slightly, as if confused while she tried to think of how to properly introduce herself. “It’s Estelle by the way, Estelle Caldwell. I usually go by Elle though, and I’m from Goldenrod.” Her tone came across a bit more gently than she would have liked, she really wanted to come across a little ice witch if she could for as long as she could, but already her voice seemed to be failing her. The only thing she really had going for her was the nonchalance of her facial expression as she looked back to the island. She gave his hand a nod but she didn’t reach her hand out to take it, deciding that would be too friendly and might ruin her image.

Azlano Orialos

"Nothing is impossible as long as you have the will and the courage to get up."

Where: Coming into Port
Company: Himself and Sora, Estelle and Jericho are the first people he meets
Thoughts: The greatest challenge of my life starts with the first step off this boat!

The sea was like home to the young man from Dewford Town. The sound of waves sloshing against the hull of the ship taking him and other future Gym Leaders to their greatest challenge. Azlano didn't waste time lounging around, and as much as the flocks of Wingulls caught his eye, ultimately he could spend this time training. Thankfully the S.S. Destiny was big enough to have a gym, even if it didn't have as much equipment as the one back at home.

With every punch he threw at the large punching bag, his thoughts drifted back to Dewford, a town that was extremely fortunate to have the population and enthusiasm to have an official Pokemon Gym opened up. Everyone was there to see him off as he left the little seaside town to pursue his dream. Everyone from little Baxter, his next door neighbor, to the Gym Leader himself and Azlano's mentor, Brawly. He could of swore he saw his mother crying into his father's shoulders as he embraced her. But Azlano was a man now. He was sure she saw this day coming sooner or later.

She was likely wanting it to come later.

"Haw, Haw," cried out Sora, his faithful Hawlucha and best friend, who was watching him punch the bag over and over again. Everything Azlano did, he always did with Sora or Hotfoot, or even with the both of them. Anything from catching the next big wave when he and Brawly went out surfing, to training in the Granite Caves, to fighting the next would be contender for the Knuckle Badge. They always did things together, and Azlano was blessed to have their company.

"So you want a turn little dude? Alright," Azlano answered as he supported the punching bag tightly. The little red winged Pokemon flew from where it was sitting and landed in front of the punching bag, entering a similar stance that Azlano had done just moments earlier. Azlano gripped tightly, because he knew that despite it's size, Hawlucha's pack a whallop that is strong enough to give even Pokemon many times it's size pause.

As Sora now took his turn on the punching bag, Azlano watched his Pokemon at work while feeling the impact of every punch and kick it landed. The graceful turning of it's pint sized body as it came around for a flying roundhouse. The way it's crimson feathers followed it's wings every movement. To him, nothing was more majestic than watching Sora fight.

Their training however, was interrupted by the loudspeaker informing them that they had arrived at the island. Azlano looked at Sora and sighed, "We'll have to continue this later dude, but for now, you need to get in your Ball and we need to get our stuff. The next big surf won't wait for us now will it?"

"Hawlucha!" it exclaimed in excitement. After stowing Hawlucha into his Pokeball, something Azlano still rarely does because he's so used to Sora on his shoulder, the young Dewford Town native left the gym and went up to his cabin. Grabbing his bags, he closed the door behind him. But it seemed he wasn't the first one off the ship.

Olivine. Goldenrod. He hadn't heard of those cities in Hoenn. Were they from different regions? Where they fellow Pokemon Gym Leaders? Already he could feel the excitement of facing either of them in a Pokemon battle boiling in his veins and reflexively, he tied the headband on his head a little tighter. He wasn't gonna fight them immediately, no no no.

Now Azlano being Azlano, he hasn't seen many people outside of his small town of Dewford, besides the Pokemon trainers coming to fight Brawly, and the people from Slateport City. So he didn't know if being upfront and introducing himself in the way he was about to introduce himself was the right way to go. But he did it anyway.

"Yo dudes, isn't this awesome or what?" Azlano yelled out on the top of his lungs, taking a big deep breath breath of the salty air, just like home, "And the surf here is excellent! Just like home!"

Of course, he then realized he forgot his manners and didn't even introduce himself, "Sorry about that, forgot my manners and didn't even introduce myself. Name's Azlano Orialos, I'm gonna be the new Big Wave in the Dewford Town Gym!"

White hair waved through the wind of the sea as the S.S. Destiny sailed forward towards Inheritance Island. The place where he would finally earn his gym and be acknowledged by the sages as the true heir to the Blackthorne gym. Among all of the Johto gyms this was where trainers would test themselves to see if they were ready for the elite four. So he had to be ready and prove himself worthy of the honor.

The sages were hoping that sending him to obtain the Mark of Leadership would give him some people skills and some humility, two things we was in short supply of. Mikael wanted that too, he just always felt so awkward around people when dragons were so much easier to understand. Not in a cold way, but he never knew how to talk to people.

He sighed, looking out over the sea as his right hand rose up to play with the dragon tooth his father had given him. It was a nervous habit he had whenever something worried him. Those blue eyes looked out onto the vast island, his mind swirling with the various pokemon he'd find. His father had told him about all of the various dragons he'd seen there before he left. The man was a monster, using the sage's trust just to find new dragon's on his hunt for Giratina, turning down the mark of leadership. Mikael wasn't so petty.

They were getting close to the docks, and some of the other gym leaders were already coming up. He was already known around Johto as the announcement for the next Blackthorne gym leader, as well as all of the other selections going to Inheritance Island. He hadn't met any of them personally yet, so he figured he should probably introduce himself at some point. His bag was next to his right, which he picked up upon the boat landing.

Mikael had traveled the world, so this was just another island and so much more at the same time. This was where he would surpass his father, this island would be where he becomes a gym leader. A few hopefuls were already off of the boat, Mikael ready to explore the island he'd heard so much about.

Approaching the three other gym leaders, Mikael smiled at them softly, waving to the two from Johto and the one he didn't know. "Looks like everyone made it here alright." The Blackthorne Leader said calmly, looking towards the gym leader he didn't know. The man said he was from Dewford, a town in Hoenn. Mikael liked Hoenn well enough, there were some very interesting dragons there, he'd even thought about bringing his Salamence along with him.

"Hey there, I'm Mikael, the new leader for the Blacktorne gym." He said calmly, that smile still on his face. His hand went up to grab at the dragon tooth, he was so nervous speaking to the other leaders. He knew that they were all decent trainers, they had to be to get to this point, but in the back of his mind he knew he was the best, because his dragons were the best. That's all there was to it.

"Everyone have a nice ride?" He asked, trying to promote conversation between them, and learn as much as he could about the other gym leaders he'd be around.

Kentaron Palandine

~~~~~ |_| |_| |_| |_| |_| ~~~~~
Smack!!!
“Zzzzz---* Wha-?”
Kentaron's body jerked up as he was abruptly woken from his sleep by something hitting his face, the Smeargle on his belly tumbling off onto the bed. The lights were dim so they didn't hurt his eyes that much, yet let him see, though his vision was a bit blurry at the moment. He rubbed at his eyes, wiping away the crustiness that had formed in the corners. The nightmare was already becoming shrouded in spider webs, burying itself in his subconscious. He paused, pulling his hands away. One of them felt wet and sticky. ”Lyra....” The Smeargle pushed herself up, looking up at him sheepishly, holding her paws up. They were covered in wet paint. Judging by the papers scattered across the floor, Lyra had been finger painting, Kent must have exhibited signs of having a nightmare, and the Smeargle had slapped him to wake him up, leaving a painted paw print that he'd probably smeared across half his face. Case closed.
Kent checked the watch on his wrist. Well, good thing he was awake now anyway, given the ships schedule he'd acquired, they should be arriving at the island shortly. He had to get ready for departure. ”Lyra, could you get the lights for me?” The Smeargle perked up, rising to her feet. She took her tail in hand, the dark purple tip painting circles around her closed eyes. When she opened her eyes once more, they glowed with psychic power. Only momentarily though, just enough to turn the light knob up, letting the light shine brightly through the room. It was a nice room, kind of expected of a cruise ship, but given the fact he had yet to leave it since he first entered the room. Luckily, it had a small bathroom attached to it. He let his eyes adjust to the brightness before setting about getting ready for the Gym Leader training facility.
Kentaron shifted out of his clothes. He used to stare at his stumps, how the flesh rounded off before getting to the knees. Now though, he was fairly sure legs wouldn't magically sprout no matter how long he stared at them. He reached over to his wheelchair, which he'd parked next to his bed. He always left his change of clothes in the seat. He pulled on some fresh underwear as well as some khaki shorts. Lyra had moved off to the bathroom, turning on the lights and washing her paws clean, filling up the sink's basin with water before moving to pick up her paintings. Kent grabbed the arms of his chair, dragging himself into it. This one was designed for comfort rather than travel, but he shouldn't have to be lifted around too much. Lyra could still lift it with her Psychic, but it was a it more difficult for her, so he didn't want to strain her more than necessary. He settled into the seat, before rolling across the now clear carpeting to the bathroom. His head barely cleared the sink, and forget about being able to see himself in the mirror above it. A common problem that he had since solved. He pulled out a small, handheld mirror fro a bag hanging from his wheelchair, before using it to wash the paint from his face.
He paused, noting the dark rings around his eyes. Despite the fact that most of this trip he'd spent in the bed, he wouldn't exactly call it restful. He tried putting the fact that he was in a boat in the back of his mind, that he wasn't surrounded by miles of water. But when he slept, all he did was drown. Fitful nightmares meant he felt no more rested when he woke up than when he dozed off. Now though, he was finally going back onto land and off this god-damned boat. He hadn't seen any of the other trainees yet. The normal-type trainer had pretty much locked himself in his room. He didn't even want an inkling of a view of what was outside. Lyra would head out to pick up their meals before heading back, so she had likely seen a couple of the others. He paused as the intercom suddenly buzzed to life, informing them that they'd arrived. Give the others time to swarm off the ship. He changed into one of his more amusing shirts, black with white words that said, 'There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.' He finished his daily hygiene, though he wasn't going to worry about bathing until he was situated in his room.
After that, it was mainly just getting everything of his situated. Since he didn't have any legs, he'd found the lower part of his wheelchair useful in carrying stuff around. Lyra collected the rectangular containers, and Kent strapped them in so they wouldn't knock off. He stuffed his dirty clothes in his backpack before hanging it off the back of the wheelchair. ”Get Vera for me, will you?” Lyra bounded over to the endtable, picking up her own and the one with Vera inside it. The Furfrou had retreated to her pokeball when her haircut had started going awry. She'd tried getting Kent to fix it up again, but between a bout of seasickness and his depression of being stuck in the middle of the ocean, he hadn't exactly felt up to the task. He'd fix her up later. Eventually she was going to have to learn to be out and about while fussed up. Lyra bounded back to Kent, sitting in his lap as she gave him the pokeballs. He shrunk the two of them, attaching them to a special lanyard around his neck, letting them rest on the outside of his shirt, his treasured vial hiding beneath the cloth. His brown eyes traveled across the room, seeing if they had missed anything, trying to hide the fact that his insides were trying to tie themselves in knots at what was going to happen next. He nodded toward the travel wheelchair in the corner, the object encased in the psychic aura as Lyra picked it up to bring it along. Kent took an extra moment to try to calm his face before unlocking the door and rolling out.
The wheels flowed smoothly across the wood floor board as Kent propelled them forward. He didn't encounter any of the gym leader wannabes, just a crew member who quickly moved out of the way for him to pass. His gaze fell downward though as he bumped over the threshold leading onto the deck. He didn't know what he'd do if he looked out over the ocean, but it would probably be incredibly irrational, and thus, he had to try and avoid it. Lyra was his eyes, directing him with her voice toward the rigging. A couple of the crew were there to hook up the harness to the wheelchair. ”Thanks for all the help you guys.” He couldn't look them in the eyes to say that, but they'd been the same who'd hoisted him up onto the ship to begin with. Lyra and him were lifted up, before being swung out beyond the railing of the ship. His gaze hastily shifted upwards, eyes locking on the land ahead of him. His mind vaguely registered the presence of buildings, but all he could really think about was that he really wanted to be there rather than being suspended midair over a dock with a frozen lump of fear in his belly. He eventually touched down on the pier, someone else helping him out of the harness. With a hasty thanks and a quick glance to make sure Lyra still had the spare wheelchair in her psychic grip before he took off. It wasn't really designed to go that fast, but he kept pushing his rims, and he was soon rolling at a pretty fast clip. His eyes were focused on the land, his goal, blessed dirt to be beneath his wheels. There were some people milling about, and four had accumulated on the pier, almost blocking his way. ”Excuse me.” He didn't exactly give the guy a chance to reply, zipping in between the man and some crates that were sitting there for departure. He didn't give the group a second thought, rushing forward until the wood turned to concrete. He stopped his racing with a relieved sigh, though he kept a fairly steady pace forward. ”F***ing boats.” He muttered. Lyra gave a small squeal at the curse, clamping her paws over her ears and glaring at him. She didn't like him swearing, so he tried keeping it to a minimum, but, well, sometimes a guy had to do what a guy had to do.
Vyn's property. Don't steal it b***h!
Ah ships. Vynessa was very familiar with ships. She did, after all, reside in a port town. Cianwood wasn't the port Captial of Johto, but it did have it's own merit. One would always hear the sailors in the harbour mutter something about Lugia, or how the seas were too rough that day, thus, having to change their route entirely. These stories had once inclined her to go explore the vast bay, even so much as finding a small series of islands, however no Lugia was ever discovered. When boarding the S.S.Destiny back in Olivine, Vyn had spent time staring at the sky, giving a partial good-by to her freedom. Did she regret going for her Mark of destiny? Of course not! It was a learning curve she was more than happy to take, but it would limit, should she succeed in obtaining, her ability to go off and explore. Oh well. Time to board the boat.
The journey was dreadful. Not the Voyage itself. The cruise was actually rather plain sailing. It was the wait that was agonizing. The first few hours were mediocre at best. Vynessa had the chance to roam about, passing a few of the other Leaders in training on certain decks but no one struck up conversation. She located an onboard gym which seemed rather practical. Herself, Brandy and Bourbon roughhoused a bit all in good spirit before she vacated the area as the ship broadcast their approach to Hoenn. Posterior to that however, it was like watching paint dry. Hoenn would be the third harbor the Destiny docked at, meaning there were still three more to go, each a greater distance away than the last; By Jove would this trip take forever.
Lounging on the bed that was designated as hers, Vynessa kicked her boots off onto the rug spread in the middle of the floor and began to just lie there. Well wasn't this was boring? The ceiling didn't hold any intricate design, so wasn't exactly suitable for taking one's mind off the long and tedious journey. Nothing was. Well, nothing in her room that was. Her Mushroom Kangaroo and Kickin' Chicken were both released in a red beam of light and coo'd and caw'd respectively.
"Who want's to have a checkers tourney?" She declared, shifting her body so that she was now propped up on the edge of the bed. "Bla-Blaize!" Nodded Brandy eagerly, sitting her lean feathered body on the rug, moving the boots to the side of the room. Bourbon was more resilient, grumbling a bit before getting some 'words of encouragement' from Brandy; She pressed down on his mushroom cap so he would sit. With the three in more or less agreement, Vyn hopped over to her carry on (a rucksack that had seen better days) and pulled out a wooden half board that encased white and black marble pieces (enclosed in a bubble wrap bag). "Let the tourney begin!" She cheered, having set up the checkers pieces and pulling the complimentary notepad from the condiments table to keep score.
Despite the initial resistance, Bourbon was undoubtedly the winner. The fast paced 'action' got him hooked, (as per) and even though many matches took place, a further two hours was nothing in the grand scheme of things. Vyn concluded that there was only one thing for it: Sleep. Stripping off her jacket and cropped sweater, Vynessa lay her hands beneath her head and nodded towards Bourbon. The musroom-mon scooted towards his long time trainer and dusted her with Spore, Sending the blonde to sleep almost instantaneously.
".... Thank you and on behalf of the Captain and Crew of the S.S Destiny, enjoy your stay!" A yawn escaped the woman's mouth along with a distorted, "I'm awake." As she peeled herself upwards, the tail end of the announcement still ringing in her ears. Grazing her fingers through her tresses she lazily scratched a spot before snapping to attention and grinning. Leaping from the bed she bound her way across the floor into the bathroom, re-doing her long ponytail, running a comb through it, relieving any tangles that occurred during her pokemon induced sleep. Running the basin full of warm water and soap, she splashed it in her face, vigorously rubbing to leave a fresh pink on her cheeks. Towel drying her face she fluffed up her side bangs that had become sodden with water and let the basin run dry.
A lot of scrambling could be heard from within her room, but equally so she could hear footsteps outside, passing her room door and paying no attention to it. She pulled her head through the turtle neck, slipped on her boots and swung her jacket over her shoulders, arms shooting through the sleeve holes. Dressed and almost ready, Vyn made sure the room was left spotless, re-entering the bathroom to mop up some spills and hang the towel back onto the rack. Now she set about to do other small tasks.
Bed made. Checkers away. Rug Straight. Good. Sure, it meant her leaving the boat would be delayed but she wasn't about to leave a mess so that someone else had to clean it up. That was un-ethical. Now prepped to disembark, Her two trusty companions disappeared in a flash of red, and equally so, she bolted out of the door.
Her bolt slowed to a power walk as up ahead a winch of some sort was lowering, someone? Onto the boardwalk. Due to the Destiny's arrival, she was content in waiting for the person needing aid to disembark thoroughly before she charged through. There was actually something to look at this time, other than water. Gazing up a the island, a whistle left her lips as what she could only imagine paradise looked like unfurled before her. "That. Is one nice island." She muttered, approaching the end of the deck.
Hopping down, to boardwalk level, she eyed the fellow in the wheel chair who had darted for land it would seem, now discussing something with a smeargle. He evidently didn't like the journey either. Returning her focus to the small gathering, Vynessa stood there for a few seconds, then blurting out "Hi." So far they were mostly young men. "So, you guys are my new peers 'ey?" She stated, rather than asked (for what else reason would they be here). "Seems Johto is ruling this boardwalk, wouldn't you agree?" She further stated, noting that she had spied most of them when boarding at Olivine. "Anywho, I'm Vyn, the new Chuck of Cianwood... And, a certified mechanic! Fancy that."
Where: Inheritance Island Pier
With: Estelle, Azlano, Mikael and Vynessa but the wheelchair kid wheeled by.
What: These lot are pretty interesting.
Post Two: The Future, so this is what it looks like.
Jericho smiled as Estelle came towards him and introduced herself. Funny, that the person about to become the foremost expert on Ice Type Pokemon in all of Johto came from place so warm and full of life. Goldenrod could have easily been the most fun place in all of Johto, so, how did anyone end up in the smallest town in the middle of nowhere? Jericho couldn't help but smile as she seemed so cute when she got mad. Did it really mean so much to her that she wasn't from Mahogony town even though she was about to become such a pivotal member of their community? It was probably something for another time. There was a lot of stories, a lot of things that the gym leaders were going to find out about each other over the course of the Mark of Leadership that no would could devise.
Jasmine had told Jericho about her own Mark of Leadership exam and said how its not only about yours that you learn about but also about yourself. It was scary to think about the strange things that could happen here on this Island. It made Jericho slightly excited but also slightly worried. Would he like what he saw if he turned the looking glass onto himself?
"Heh. Jericho chuckled. "Fair enough Mahogany, ironic though don't you think? A pretty girl like you from warm heart of Johto being the cold-hard b***h of Gym Leaders?" He shifted his bag back onto his shoulder, taking pride in himself for his witty banter. However, something else came across his ears that wasn't the sexy and somewhat confident cadence of Estelle.
Instead, he blinked towards the boy with the headband talking about the surf; even as he introduced himself, Jericho couldn't quite remember where abouts he'd got on. It wasn't until he mentioned Dewford that Jericho could finally place him. But he couldn't help what happened when the guy referred to himself as "the Big Wave". It just seemed so stereotypical of Dewford, a town driven by the hip and happening and even though he had been prepared for it; Jericho couldn't quite believe that someone was just feeding the stereotype so readily.
"Ha ha ha ha! The "Next Big Wave"? Really? Do people actually refer to themselves like that where you're from? Wow. Ha ha ha ha ha!" He bent over as he laughed. He couldn't help it. He just really couldn't help it.
But as he stood up, he looked up at the new face whom he recognized from port at Olivine. He said his name was Mikael, a familiar name to those around Johto. The sages didn't choose very often, so when they did it was big news that spread like wildfire across the whole of Johto. So, Jericho wiped his eyes of the joyful tears of laughter and looked up at Mikael quite expectingly. Now this was someone worth noting. If Mikael had been approved by the Sages then he had Jericho's vote, admiration and rivalry right off the bat.
"Jericho, Jericho Northstar. Very rare that the Blackthorn Dragon User Clan ventures out of Blackthorn. An honour, kinda, until I kick your a**. Obviously, cause everybody knows that Olivine City's gunna be the best Gym in Johto. Fact."
Jericho's arrogance was somewhat offset by the courtesy he showed the boy in the wheelchair as he let him through. He looked as the boy zoomed off the pier, he thought about horrible it must have been. Jericho knew how much he relied on his leg to chase tail and in order to train along with his Pokemon using his spear. He couldn't handle losing them and kind of admired the kid for still coming to the Island in order to get things done. Brave soul. Jericho thought to himself, tapping his fingers on the shaft on his spear. Part of him wanted to go and explore, maybe go talk to the kid in the wheelchair who seemed to be in such a hurry but then...
Blonde hair. Blue eyes. Pretty face. Making their way straight at Jericho.
"Peer, rival, friend, one night stand, lover, big spoon or booty call. I'm whatever you want me to be darlin'." Punctuating the end with a wink and a smile, Jericho had to reconsider the fact that Vyn had mentioned she was the new Chuck of Cianwood. That was a bit too close to home and well, anyone who could train with Ol' Man Chuck must have had a few screws loose. The guy threw boulders for fun; bathed under a waterfall and when beaten disappeared into the caves or beach to train more. He was a ridiculous specimen for a man and well, it seemed a little weird that the guy's wife, whom was a reported looker, spent so much time alone. Jericho could dig a cougar. Yet, now wasn't the time to mention that especially if Vyn was close to him; Jericho was a loud mouth but he wasn't stupid, she could probably s**t on his day three ways to Sunday. And Jericho really didn't appreciate that unless it was in the bedroom. He smiled, nodding his head at Vyn's observation that everyone seemed to be from Johto. He had a theory as to why that was that he was willing to share: "It's cause we're the best obviously, right? Who doesn't want to be from Johto? Pfft."
The Changing of the Tide
After the long journey from Humilau City to Castelia City's port and the long sea voyage he had endured, the S.S. Destiny was final reaching the port at Inheritance! Caspian quite liked trips on boats as he had spent most of his childhood on them with his parents. But he definitely felt he would have much preferred riding along side the boat with his Pokemon, or even dare be towed behind the cruise ship whilst standing on his surfboard.
With a few short blasts on the fog horn the Captain had signalled they had almost arrived just moments ago. Caspian lept out of his cabin to see his new home and basked in the fresh ocean air as he sighed with delight at the sight of the white sandy beaches that gently laced the island.
There had been alot of Pokemon out on the top deck of the boat earlier that day and so Caspian thought it would be best not to add to the crowdedness by letting Duke walkaround and thought it would be to let only Navi walk freely. Caspian also figured they would be too restless anyway and so he promised he would take them surfing in the sea as soon as he had unpacked and settled down.
The climate here was even warmer than that of Humilau City which would make surfing all the more enjoyable. As Caspian leaned against the railings of the ship he gazed out at the island. With every second his excitement grew as the anticipation of meeting new people and making new friends overwhelmed him. The sound of the waves hitting the boat lulled him into a peaceful daydream...
It just struck him that he hadn't even spoken to anybody on the boat yet, except "Excuse me" or "Where is my room?" to one of the stewards. How would he make new friends if he didn't make any effort on the whole journey to Inheritance? As he went in search of people to talk to, a tannoy announcement by the Captain interrupted his thought.
Duke and Navi were already resting in their Pokeballs but Caspian needed to backup his belongings in his cabin before disembarking from the boat. With no time to socialise he made his way back to his room. Eventually Caspian decided Navi could help pack, as she had helped before.
"Azuu..?"
Navi looked confused as she was released from her Pokeball, as if she had expected to be released on the island."I need your help finishing the packing Navi." As soon as Navi caught glimpse of the half filled suitcase and clothes flung on the bed she huffed, grabbed her blue bag with white polka dots and then stomped out the room with nothing more than a"Aazuuma!"Before Caspian could call her back, she had already slammed the door shut.
Navi went and found a deckchair just her size and pulled a pair of sunglasses from her bag. She assertively huffed again to herself and then collapsed into the chair with a fruity mocktail.
User Image
Frantically cramming the rest of his belongings into his suitcase Caspian forced it shut and wedged the cabin door open with it. He then grabbed his surfboard and Duke's small rucksack from the other side of the room and scrambled out the door.
Surfboards were by far one of the least impractical items to take travelling, especially when you had no help and you were chasing after a missing Pokemon. Caspian made his way back on to the top deck of the ship where people had already started disembarking. He struggled his way through a small crowd that was leaving the ship and when he emerged, he saw Navi sat in a deckchair basking in the sun. All the other deckchairs had been packed away in anticipation of arriving at their destination, but Navi seemed to have fended off any stewards because her deckchair was the only one not packed away. Before she could distinguish him from the crowd from behind her sunglasses, he dropped his belongings and returned her to her Pokeball.
After collecting himself, Caspian made his way towards the ramp exiting the ship. Most people had made their way straight towards the buildings away from the port, but a few had remained to socialise it seemed. "This looked like a good a time as any to try and make some new friends" Caspian thought to himself.
As he stepped on land he had to pause a minute. He felt like he was still rocking from the boat which surprised him having been at sea alot. He shrugged it off and proceeded to the closest group of people: four guys and two ladies. Considering the events preceding walking up to this group of people, Caspian was actually very excited. He was about to burst out a greeting in his usual enthusiastic manner but Caspian sensed there was a little contrast in personalities in this group of people.
Caspian restrained himself and introduced himself. "Hi, I'm Caspian. I'm from Humilau City in the Unova region."
The response he got was mixed. It varied from a blank-faced nod, to one of them practically screaming a welcome at him. Overall they seemed friendly enough. They introduced themselves and then fell mostly silent again."Anyone else from Unova? Not that it matters a great deal, but apparently we all share a cabin." Kentaron gave a little wave to which Caspian acknowledged likewise. "At least I will know someone where I'm staying" thought Caspian to himself.
When Jericho spoke to him, Mikael just smiled. It seemed he was making friends already, even if that was with a target on his back. Blackthorne had always been known as the strongest gym, and should he fail to prove that here he would lose that title upon his return. He wasn't going to let that happen, if that meant he'd have to show all of the other Johto leaders he was the best, so be it.
"True, but my father always pressed that the world had so much more to teach us about dragons than we could learn in Blackthorne. I'm excited to add this island to the list of places I've been. Maybe you'd like to have a shot now?" He asked calmly, smiling a bit as he laughed at Jericho's comment about Olivine becoming the best gym. "It's nice to have dreams." He said with a sly smile on his face, looking Jericho in the eyes.
To Mikael this was a one sided rivalry, there was no rival to his dragons, and to maintain Blackthorne's status as the strongest gym he couldn't think of any of the other Johto leaders as his rival. This wasn't to be arrogant, but it was the mentality that the sages had put into him. That didn't hurt his ego either. And while he thought that he'd like Jericho overall, he viewed this thought of making Olivine the strongest gym an idea he had to crush as early as possible.
The other leaders were there, but they were all still just introducing themselves. And with each new hopeful it only got more interesting, the other gym leaders making him all the more excited for his stay on the island. Someone new came, a water leader from Unova, and Mikael responded, "I've traveled there, but no, I'm not a native. Most of us here are from Johto. Name's Mikael from Blackthorne."
Azlano Orialos
"Nothing is impossible as long as you have the will and the courage to get up."
User Image
Where: Coming into Port
Company: Himself and Sora, Estelle and Jericho are the first people he meets, and then the entirety of Johto followed
Thoughts:
Jericho sounds like a total dork. Hasn't even made it off the boat and he's already declaring himself the best. Sure Johto sounds beautiful, but nothing beats the surf in Hoenn.
Mikael sounds tough, and he would be a great challenge.
Man I am so stoked to fight Vyn!
First thing Azlano noticed when more and more of the future Gym Leaders got off the boat: most of them came from Johto. At least according to Jericho anyway. When he laughed at his way of talking, Azlano honestly was a bit offended, even behind the smile. But when you wipeout while surfing, you can't afford to just sit there and get angry at yourself. You got to just get back on your board and paddle out there again. That was what Brawly taught him. So in response to Jericho laughing at the way he talked, he merely replied without skipping a beat, "Nah bro, we don't all call ourselves that. My mentor and main surfing dude Brawly was known as 'A Big Wave in Fighting', so it is only natural that his disciple refers to himself as 'The Next Big Wave'."
Azlano honestly could understand Jericho's attitude. It was natural for a Pokemon Trainer to want to be the best. Azlano himself wants to show everyone he's not just some idiot who talks like a surfer, that he was just as capable as any of them are. But he hasn't even got off the boat and already this Jericho guy was making more enemies than friends. That was Azlano's observation at least.
When Vyn showed herself and referred to herself as the new Chuck, Azlano smiled to himself. Even though he never left Dewford except for a vacation to Slateport at the age of 8, Brawly at least made sure Azlano knew about other Gym Leaders. Chuck of CIanwood City was another Fighting Type Specialist, and someone Azlano hoped to meet someday to test his skills against him. This was the same with other Fighting Type Gym Leaders. So when Vyn announced herself as Chuck's disciple, Azlano instantly wanted to face her.
And he could feel Sora's Pokeball shake a little while it was on his belt. And he knew what that meant: the little Pokemon was about to burst out of his Pokeball to make himself known. He hoped that Sora would be able to keep himself contained enough that they can get off the boardwalk before he decides to show himself. But not before he looked over and Vyn and said, "You sound awesome Vyn! We so have to train or fight against each other sometime, it would be totally radical!"
With that declaration, he jumped off the boardwalk and landed on the warm sand on Inheritance Island. Azlano was already getting pumped and so was Sora, who leaped out of his Pokebal in a small flash of white light, a small bird of red and white who held it's little hands high in the air and flopped on the sand, laughing.
        The silence in the cabin was absolute. Every minute or so a light tap when Nika touched the screen of her kindle to turn the page or Alex flipped the page of the one paperback she'd brought along. Avalon and Li meditated by the wall, eyes closed. The silence stretched the ear, made the owner imagine they were insulated from some huge sound pressing in, as if the waves crashing against the ship were just outside the walls.
        A book shut. Alex spoke.
        "Do you think we should-"
        "No."
        "But we're going to be-"
        "No."
        A pause.
        "Do you want any-"
        "No."
        "Oh. Okay."
        The silence resumed. For approximately five seconds.
        "What do you think the island will be like?"
        Nika sighed.
        "Alex."
        "Yeah?"
        "What am I doing?"
        "Talking to me?"
        "Don't be a wise a**. What am I trying to do?"
        "Ignore your beloved sister who cares about you and wants to make sure you don't end up all alone as an old hag?"
        Nika snorted.
        "Well you're doing a s**t job if that's your goal." Despite her words, Nika flipped the cover of her kindle closed. "I'm wondering how many of them will be guys."
        Alex tucked her feet under her and leaned forward on the bed. "Nikaaa~ So you're a girl after all." She fell onto her side to duck the incoming pillow from Nika. Alex laughed. "Well they'd better be hot," she added.
        "Or cute. Cute is good."
        Without speaking, looking at each other, or making any sign that the two had communicated, Alex and Nika both stood and began to gather their things. Avalon and Li Sun opened their eyes moments before the ship's captain announced their arrival. "Hey Li, help me with this?" Nika asked, handing him a bag to carry while slinging the other one around her back. Li Sun held out a hand for Alex too. "Thanks." She handed him her bag before bending over and pulling out her guitar case from under the bed. Li Sun held out his hands but Alex, without looking, denied him. "It's fine Li. I've got it. Really." Avalon giggled, floating up behind Li Sun and placing a hand on his shoulder. "The rejected knight makes quite the sight. Hmm, brother?" Li Sun stepped away, surly. Avalon's victory was short lived, however, because Alex had to put her back in her pokeball. Li Sun could get away with it because he was helping the "poor little girls" carry their luggage.
        So it was finally time to go... The group left the room, Li Sun bringing up the rear and closing the door with a small bit of psychic energy. Alex and Nika had kept almost exclusively to each other during the tip. Perhaps some of the others had seen them out sunbathing or in the dining hall, but Alex and Nika had hardly bothered to memorize faces. As their little troop marched down the dock, they inevitably found their path crossing with the group gathered right smack dab in the middle of the walkway because why the hell not stand in everyone's way?
        They appeared to have arrived at an excellent time because one of them had just finished stating that Johto was the best. Certainly not the case. "Or maybe Johto needs some quantity-" "-to make up for quality?" Alex and Nika smirked, standing beside each other and knowing full-well that despite the difference in hair -and slight difference in height- they looked eerily familiar to one another.
        "By the way you all should move, you're blocking the path."
        "By the way you all should move, you're blocking the path."
        They said together. Then, too make themselves significantly less bitchy, they tilted their head and smiled in unison, Alex to the left and Nika to the right.
        "Okay~?"
        "Okay~?"
Where: Inheritance Island Pier
With: Estelle, Azlano, Mikael, Caspien and Vynessa. TWINS!?
What: Pfft, Big Wave. Riiiight. Nommy, Twins, the things I'd get up to with those two are just... Yeah, tasty. But first, gotta lay the smackdown on Scales over here.
Post Three: First Impressions.
Being true to form, Jericho was beginning to make a few people rather annoyed. His outbursts and his ignorance/ arrogance were already beginning to rub people the wrong way and wiping what tears of laughter remained at the bottom of his eyes; Jericho looked towards Azlano and shrugged. Sure, that was a nice title and stuff but who got carried away with titles nowadays? Being a Gym Leader was about proving yourself and whether or not you could prove yourself was all that should have mattered. You didn't want to be making waves as a Gym Leader but Tsunamis. That was a Gym Leader's prerogative in Jericho's eyes and all he had ever really done was make tsunamis. He trained physically with his Pokemon using his spear, he trained Scizor when no one else believed he could, he did everything he possibly could to make a name for himself and that is why he was stood there on the dock, waiting to obtain the Mark of Leadership.
Aslano though, well, he apparently couldn't even take a joke.
"Oh please, don't get your knickers in a twist Dewford. It was a joke." Part of him couldn't quite be bothered with the difficulties of having to deal with upsetting someone so early on in their trip. He was tired from travelling and what was more pressing was that he really couldn't give a damn. It was just how he was, he may have liked Azlano for being a bit of a character but in all honesty, if he was going to be a little b***h about everything what was the point? It was no fun poking fun if no one could take it.
But then something interesting started to unfold. Looking at Mikael with a cheeky grin on his face, Jericho unhooked a pokeball from his belt and clicked the middle button to enlarge it.
"Why not? I see no one here to meet us and I'd rather assert my dominance as soon as possible if you know what I'm saying. So, please, offer yourself up as a sacrificial lamb because I'm about to make my dreams a-" Jericho was cut short by the interjection of Caspian the Humilau City Gym leader from Unova and lowering his Pokeball, looked towards the new arrival with curious eyes. Marlon, the former Gym Leader, had actually been quite a big deal in Johto thanks to his rock hard abs and beautifully tanned skin; there weren't many girls who could say no to such an exotic specimen. However, Caspian didn't seem anything like his predecessor. In fact, he was a bit pasty for someone who live in such an exotic location and obviously, this would be something Jericho would not think before sharing with the group. "I imagined you to be a bit more tanned..."
Jericho waited for a second for a reply from Caspian; some sort of explanation as to why someone from a place filled with heat waves and palm trees was whiter than the guy who lived on the coastline of Johto. But before poor Caspian could even open his mouth, Jericho dropped his bag on the hard wood of the pier, shifted his Pokeball into the hand that was grasping the spear, rested the spear in the crook of his elbow and put a finger to the Humilau Leader's lips and promptly told him to: Jericho's eyes thinned as he checked out the two, yin-yang twins that were making their way off of the ramp and onto the pier. He smiled at them and with a confident nod, and his finger still pressed against Caspian's mouth, shrugged his shoulders towards the two beauties and prepared his counter argument. It was actually quite a good counter argument when you thought about it but, well, when you accompanied it with the fact Jericho was thinking more lewder things as he presented it; you couldn't help but admire Jericho's tenacity and focus on one, his pride and two, his perverted way. "Last time I checked, Johto still had 8 Gyms. The same as anyone else. What you could also say was that more of our Leaders feel as though their disciples are ready enough to all retire around the same time, y'know? I mean, I don't know about you but if I didn't have someone good enough to pick up my legacy I sure as hell wouldn't retire. So, yeah, the Johto crop are good but I suppose you guys are equally as good. And that's not even taking into account how beautiful you both are." He signed off his argument with a grin and his thoughts were enough for a person to need bleach after seeing them, if you could read kinds of course, and simply spun his Pokeball on the end of his finger as he raised an eyebrow and dropped his hand away from Caspian's mouth. It had always been a fantasy of his to date twins... at the same time. "Jericho. Jericho Northstar. In case you were wondering. And if you want me to prove myself I was about to take Scales over there..." He pointed towards Mikael "... Up on his offer of a battle. However, your perfect visages stunned me with their radiance so I had to introduce myself. What do you think? Should I be somewhat impressive and take on our friend from Blackthorne, would it win me the ability to take you two lovely ladies out for dinner tonight? We could get to know each other."
It was classic Jericho at its finest.
Ripples in the Water
Kentaron zipped off in a blaze of fury, fuelled by his recent voyage. He headed of the dock and towards the buildings in the distance. So much for a new friendship. Luckily there were still plenty of people around that still had the courtesy to at least attempt to make friends.
Caspian could not think of any ice-breakers off the top of his head at that moment so he just released Navi and Duke from their Pokeballs. For a moment Caspian almost regretted this. He thought that Navi would still be angry from having her sunbathing session cut short and he thought Duke too would be angry as he was not released at all on the ship. To Caspian's surprise they were well behaved and seemed content with being out on the island.
"Guys, this Azumarill is my friend Navi. My friend Blastoise is called Duke."
Both Pokemon acknowledged the group in the same way most of the humans did. Short but not so sweet.
"Azuuu..."
User Image
"Blast..."
User Image
With that Jericho swaggered over to Caspian. Navi and Duke fidgeted slightly and glared at Jericho, but Caspian remained composed. From the look on the troublemaker's face Caspian could tell he was up to no good.Anyone having to carry a spear around was clearly overcompensating.
To Caspian's surprise the words that came out of Jericho's mouth were not what he anticipated. ...what a strange way to criticise someone. He did not really know how to react. He also did not feel like disclosing the reason why Marlon was now in hospital and why Caspian always wore sunscreen...
Before Caspian could reply, Jericho's true arrogance presented itself.Can someone really be so obnoxious? Especially to people they had just met!
Click. A switch was flicked in Caspian's head. He instantly dropped any hard feelings he was having and started laughing. He noticed two twins making their way off the ship and instantly understood. Contemptuous to contentedness in record time!
It was apparent that Jericho could not be taken seriously and that his antagonism was simply a test of character. Caspian smiled to himself and turned to listen to Jericho's next line of attack.
