 He turned away from her, closing his eyes tightly. His mind was swirling, leaving him reeling in a storm of rage, pain, and loneliness. He took a deep breath, wishing fervently that he had someone here to guide him through this. How was he supposed to forgive a mother that left him behind? And yet somewhere deep inside that is exactly what he wanted. He needed his mother somehow on a basic, primal level. Still, this was going to take time and effort on her part before he would trust her. He turned his head, lifting his lids to look at her. "You can return tomorrow."

As he turned form her she could feel the pit in her stomach drop deeper. She had missed her son every day since she left, but the pain of his loss was nothing compared to the coldness she felt coming from him now. She wished desperately that she had actually found Samael... and their second child. She sighed heavily and resolved to stay put and hope they found them instead. She had a lot of work to do here, clearly. "I will return every day until the day you either refuse me entirely, or forgive me."

He still didn't face her fully. He was torn between not wanting her to leave and not wanting to see her ever again. He tried to imagine explaining her presence to his children, the few he ever saw. His heart sank just that much more, recalling that Nita was off on her adventure and wouldn't be back until The Spirits-Knew-When. He could perhaps find Xeria. The others however... they were lost to him. There were too many wounds for him to try to patch in one day. "I know you want to fix this. I don't even know if we can. But you can return tomorrow. I make no promises beyond that." He could hear how flat his voice was, how emotionless. He felt numb suddenly, as though he could no longer process her sudden appearance. He felt tired, as though he would collapse any moment into a deep sleep. He doubted that would be the case, however. "You should go now."

There was moisture on her face, and it wasn't just the red "tears" she eternally cried. No, this was pure grief she felt running down her face, and it bowed her head under its burden. She wanted to explain to him so many things, such as why she left, who his father had been, about the other child... She knew he had no memory of their life before his accident. She hoped maybe she could remind him about what they had before everything was ruined. She opened her mouth as if to do just that, but stopped herself as she heard the lack of emotion in his voice. He was drifting from her, but if she pushed too hard she could lose him, permanently this time. She wouldn't tolerate that. "I won't give up this time. I know you have no reason to trust me... but it's the truth. I hope in time you'll allow me to explain to you what happened."
