Milo's firm grip did eventually soften against Oliver's shoulder but it still remained in place as he guided the more timid Hunter along. Yes, it was easy to tell when the other guy's nerves were getting the best of him, the Sun didn't even have to look down at him.
"Got rid of all those bugs, at least what someone told me." He went on to say, trying to reassure the guy. Maybe. Honestly, there could be different bugs this time as far as he knew. But he was pretty sure it was just sort of... normal sized things scurrying about behind the other doors. Nothing that would be too much of a problem. Happened with storage rooms, which were what they were mostly seeming to pass now.
"But it ain't too bad, ya know?" He added, glancing through the bars to one room which seemed to house a similar looking iron maiden to his. Oh look, a twin. "Got bigger things to worry about and you get used to it, ya." Like big monsters that threatened to eat them, the Halloween people they were supposed to investigate and clear out. And Horsemen! Seemed a bit more of a priority than how scary their living conditions were. "Helped more when we got power back on the island, though we still don't have th best lightning." Milo chuckled as he used his free hand to point up at one of the lamps in particular that seemed on its way out.
"And again, the bathrooms," which was where they finally ended up. Well, at least one of them. Meilo held out his hand in introduction of the old, rusty, something out of a horror movie dwelling. "I think this is really the worst of it."

Okay, so there were no mutant bugs at least. Not anymore. Oliver was just beginning to settle down, when a loud clang of iron bars echoed from the direction they had started from. He would have jumped half a foot had Milo's friendly hand not been holding him down. But the Sun trainee was unconcerned, so Oliver did his best to keep going and resist the urge to look over his shoulder. " I d-don't think I'll ever get used to the island..." he said in a very quiet, little voice. Milo didn't seem like the type to be jumping at shadows, nor had any other resident Oliver had met. Maybe being woken up was really just a mistake. How else could he be there, with so little courage to back him up? It wasn't long before they arrived at the bathrooms. Oliver peeked inside tentatively, and when he saw no dead bodies or signs of demonic rituals, he was able to relax just a little. It really was awful, and if the fear of bathroom-haunting ghosts was a bit extreme, the fear of tetanus was not. He nervously peeked into a bathroom stall. "I-it l-looks like a zone from a zombie game," the kid said quietly, taking some comfort from the comparison. Videogames were safe, you could die a thousand times and still keep playing, and imagining it merely as an appropriate stage for bashing rotting heads with a baseball bat distanced himself from the fear of actually being there.

Oh, if only Milo knew of Oliver's worries. How he would attempt to help, but perhaps it was probably a good thing he only knew so little of his nervous nature. The things Oliver might get subjected to would probably just petrify him even more; though the Sun had to think that studying Power Rangers could probably do wonders for confidence. Especially where certain characters were involved.
But, well, he didn't know. Only what was presented in front of him, which understandably coming down into the basement that used to be a dungeon... seemed like it could do that. (Kind of didn't catch all of that whisper). "Oh, hah! It kinda does, ya?" Even if his knowledge of video games wasn't as great as some people's, a few particular game titles could come to mind. Maybe more of the movies based off of them than anything, like that one where the two girls had to fight something with an axe. Anyways. "But ya, heard bad stories," Milo shrugged, "we usually shower upstairs." Was safer, despite curiosities he didn't want to confirm if things were true. Dying in a shower was not on his to-do.
And after a few minutes of quiet observation, "wanna see where someone found a few skeletons after we flooded?"

The dungeons might have been creepy, but Oliver was slowly starting to lose the edge to his panic. Nothing was jumping out at him. Nothing was trying to kill him. Milo was comfortably calm, acting as though no danger existed around him. He talked about mutant bugs and possible shower attacks with the same tone as someone recalling what they had for breakfast. Oliver might not have had any bravery of his own, but it looked like Milo had more than enough to spare. It may have started to rub off on the kid. "O-okay," he replied, timidly, but not as nervous. He could distance himself a little from the feeling of danger, now it was more like a creepy haunted house tour. Scary, but not more than that. He quickly backed out of the bathroom, but he didn't get too far away from Milo in the process. "A-are they… human skeletons?" He would prefer if they were not… but either way, skeletons were actually pretty cool. Oliver had always done well in biology, it might be reassuring to put some of his knowledge to good use.

There was a slight tiny shift in tone that even he noticed from Oliver, the other trainee seemed to be calming down. Even just a little but didn't seem to be talking so softly, until he asked about the skeletons.
Even then, Milo had to chuckle, "aa, think so," he rubbed the back of his neck, "haven't seen anythin' else here for them not to be." No monsters, not even common animals - remains or otherwise to really suggest anything else... was ever here besides them. With a final shrug on the matter, the Sun placed a hand on Oliver's shoulder (gently, honestly) to steer him in the proper direction of their destination. Just a little further down the hall.
It wasn't the most amazing site really, a room like any of the others just at the end of the hallway with bars on the door and obvious grates upon the flooring where they might have come out of. Deep pits below. There seemed to be a few of the tinier of the bones still remaining, those not as important. But they were there, evidence in the least. "Cool, ya?"

Oliver glanced up at the other trainee, opened his mouth to say something, and then closed it. After a second of working himself up to ask the question, he tried again. "Why are there no animals? I-I know there aren't any, b-but I h-haven't been told why." He frowned. It was something he tried not to dwell on, if there were no animals on the island for whatever reason, why were there people here? When they finally got to the 'skeletons', the kid peered in cautiously, but again got a bit braver when he realized it really wasn't as bad as he thought. A little damp, but the bones that remained looked like little more than fingerbones. Oliver had imagined skulls. And ribcages. All covered in damp, salty seaweed with molluscs living on them. He nodded. Yeah, it was still kinda cool.

There was a small bit of satisfaction seeing Oliver peer over into the cell to investigate. Seeing the timid kid actually look for skeletons, there was no yelping or attempts to run. Didn't even seem like he was shaking. Milo smiled, moreso with the nod of approval.
The question though. "Don't remember the reason why, but remember someone mentioned somethin' on twitter a while back," It was tempting to dig his phone out of his pocket and check. But, going that far into his history would probably take a while, "somethin' about the fog?" Or something. Milo shrugged. He had been disappointed at least to learn he couldn't have a rabbit (and then that guy Rep had to call him a p***y for wanting one in the first place).
"Not much else after this," he said, "wanna head back?"

Oliver suddenly seemed to perk up. "Y-you have twitter here? Is there internet access?" If there was internet access... that meant... online gaming. There was suddenly hope of having some sane, normal activity in what was undoubtedly going to be his short and painful life. He gave the bone pieces another thoughtful-looking glance, despite his mind being somewhere else entirely. "Where do you think the rest went?"

Well, wasn't that just the subject that would gain the most attention. "Oh yeah, totally have twitter." Milo confirmed with a grin and a nod, "though I think it works different than the mainland, ya? Like, we don't get the usual stuff. Just island stuff." He went on, gesturing his hands a bit with a wave to help demonstrate his point of how it worked - pointing to a wall to indicate the outside world and swirling his hands in front of him for the island itself. Oh how he would love for it to work like normal, as far as he knew anyways. Because he had still yet to find a way to access the internets in such a way to stream television shows (or download them, whatever).
"The rest?" The brunet then questioned, peering Oliver to see where he was referring to. Oh right, the skeletons, "aa, think someone else cleaned it up. Miss America sometimes gets people to clean up down here an' stuff." He explained with a shrug. He never got much detail from her about services to be done in the hall that he called his home but he had heard things.grey dragon ahaha... aa, sorry, this... yeah, my brain died for a few days....... weeks...

"Oh..." Oliver seemed disappointed, but not yet ready to withdraw back into his tense and anxious shell. There was something about the way Milo spoke to him, not so much like an older hunter doing an obligatory tour for the newbie, but more like a new friend just wanting to show off things. There was no big expectations placed on his shoulders, or hard words that reminded him how ill equipped he was for this job. Just friendly show and tell. Rather than staring at the ground, he watched Milo's obscure gestures for a time. Some internet was better than no internet, he supposed, but the only computers he knew about were the ones in the Life labs, and he was sure those were for science-related pursuits only. Maybe he could ask Milo later if there were computers for personal use anywhere on the island... "Oh," he said again, with regards to the skeletons. "Um... who is Miss America?" That question, unlike the computer one, needed to be asked promptly. Because Oliver was pretty sure the mental image of a blonde pageant finalist wearing a sash and a blue Liberty costume was not what Milo was referring to. chirigami Ahaha, no problem. XD Brain-death is a common occurrence 'round these parts~
