Counting Stars -- One Republic Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? I was having a bad enough week. No one like to lose a pet. Next thing I know instead of counting the glowing stars in on my bedroom ceiling, I'm counting the real stars as my roof is blown to kingdom come. Seconds later there's screaming and panic on all sides of me and I look around to try and figure out where the hell my roof just went. Then I noticed the directions from which the fires were burning, and decided it was prudent to travel in the other direction, barely keeping myself from being trampled by other panicked citizens. Reaching the outskirts and relative safety, I sit under a tree to try and take in this newest development. I guess I should be more careful when I ask what else can go wrong in a single week.

Song: Adam and Eve by The Paper Melody Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? All around there was destruction. Warmth from the blaze was so strong. The smell of smoke lingered for miles... I shutter to recall the memories that plague my mind... May I just forget and move on? The city was built a-new... and I shall be as well.

Song: Silversun Pickups - Panic Switch Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? We were prepared. When the s**t hit the fan, we knew what to do and where to go...unfortunately we were many floors up and no where near our special shelter.
Smoke and shaking, fire and fuss - we waited for it to stop; when it did not, we decided to take initiative. Out the office, down the emergency stairwell (past the others either cowering or trying to leave too) and outside. So much chaos! We almost wanted to turn around and head back inside, but no, we run run run back to our home and then down down down in the ground.
Down into our special bunker. We only come back up when the chaos dies down, the radios telling me when it's clear to do so. Then I pack up supplies, toss 'em into a stowed vehicle and gtfo of dodge. I can always return to my bunker if need be, after all the bunker is safe and stocked with all the things I could need to survive for at least a year!
But it's lonely in the bunker. Maybe next time I will invite someone to join me.
Maybe.

Song: My Heart Was Set on You - Sutton Foster Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? Damage...? What damage? I moved just before all the damage had set in. That, or I don't remember. It's hazy. I just, I guess I don't remember there being any damage.

Song: Was I Even There from Shivers 2 Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? Go to The City, they said. It'll be fun, they said.
Really now?
I didn't even get to unpack my things before things suddenly went up in flames--quite literally. This wasn't in travel brochure, that's for sure...

Song: Last Dance - World Order Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? I fainted. Some kind soul must have dragged me to safety because by the time I woke up, it was all over. Or maybe I'm actually dead and I just don't realize it yet. Oh my gosh. CAN YOU SEE ME?!

Song: Never Gone - Backstreet Boys Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? I was a child when the City fell, my mother and I were trying to escape we got to the edge of the City, the edge where safety was, the edge where we could try and live a normal life and leave these bad memories with the destruction of the city itself but as I was being pulled towards the edge of the City it was just getting worse and my mother saved me but a moment later, as she was trying to save herself, a stone slab from a near by building fell on her, trapping her and injuring her but whilst it didn't kill her instantly and she was saved she did, however, die later in the hospital due to her injury.

Song: Dreams Don't Turn To Dust - Owl City Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? I don't remember much of what happened. I think I was looking for someone, family, a friend, someone? I am not sure, things are kind of hazy, I think I bumped my head when everything went down. Could barely remember my own name...all I know is, someone probably dragged me away from the fires, but left me there. Wish I could find them and thank them.

Song: Drive My Soul - Lights Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city?
It hadn't taken her long at all to realize that something big had happened here.
The first few areas she'd passed through as she entered the city had been little more than rubble and soot, apparently completely deserted, and there had been a long moment as she picked her way through the bits of brick and metal where she had grown very, very worried.
As she continued on though, she'd begun to see signs of at least a little clean up- further past that, some of the buildings had been haphazardly patched up, and she actually glimpsed a person or two peering out of shattered windows, shady though they seemed. Encouraged, she'd hurried along, eyes sharp for the signs of improvement as she went- over this way some of the buildings had power- to her left a corner store had several boarded up windows, but was actually open for business. There were also increasing numbers of people on the streets as the conditions improved, and while they still didn't acknowledge her as they passed, they didn't look and act like vagabonds either.
Even battered as it was though, The City was even grander than she had ever imagined. It was easy to see now, as she finally made her way into an area that actually looked finished, why her siblings hadn't returned home after coming here- it was incredible, all gleaming buildings and lit screens, and fascinating machines scuttling around carrying materials and making repairs and doing who knows what else.
She was actually a little upset that they hadn't told her how amazing it was here. They'd never said much at all about the city itself, now that she thought about it, always brushing off her questions and insisting that they were fine, nothing interesting was happening, and they didn't need the baby of the family being such a mother hen. Then they'd usually end the communication by making irritating clucking noises through their laughter and the static, until she got mad and hung up in a huff.
...It felt like it'd been forever since they’d spoken.
So maybe her plan to find said incommunicado siblings- without any specific idea of where to start- hadn't been the best thought out plan ever. And that was before she'd known that there'd been a disaster of some sort. (They were fine, she was sure. They were quick and clever, and they just hadn't been able to call for so long because they would be busy with rebuilding, or had no power, or something. They were fine.) Having never left the tiny settlement they'd all grown up in until now, it turns out she really had no idea of the sheer scale of a city. But as she looked up again at the cityscape rising all around, awe and excitement shining in her eyes, she thought that it wouldn't really matter how long the search took in the end.
She didn't think she'd be leaving here for a long time anyways.
(Wow this got away from me a little, sorry. xD It also looked really silly if I tried to avoid pronouns, so female ones were chosen at random.)

Song: Röyksopp - Running To The Sea Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? That night was the first real time you'd ever been afraid of such a savage force. You'd never ran so fast in all your life, your heart beating wildly. Alone, and blinded by fear. You are not a fighter, so you flee the fires, smoke and ruin. All was wasted, you remember that much at least. The darkness killed the light as you fled further into the night. I'm ashamed...I didn't even look back. Its inside me, this feeling of shame. Whether it grows, or fades away will come with time I suppose. I just hope everyone made it out ok of The City..

Song: Slip Inside (The Barrel of Your Gun) - There For Tomorrow Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? The city was a blaze and everything was falling - but the only thing I was thinking about was staying close to the friends I held dear and getting out alive. The only problem was that in the panic everyone else's adrenalin was pumping and it was harder and harder for me to keep up. I couldn't get oxygen to my lungs - I couldn't get my feet to move fast enough and all too soon I was trapped behind rubble that had fallen only moments before blocking me from my group. For what felt like hours I slammed my fists against the part of the building and screamed until I couldn't speak any more. At this point I sniffled softly and got to my feet, limping around in the dark until I found a way out. Everything was gone - and I feared deep down that no one I cared for had made it out alive.

Song: Life is Beautiful - Sixx A.M Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city? I escaped? Seems like I'm still on fire. Despite running, and running, and running.. It didn't seem like I would ever get out. I still don't think I am. My heart is still beating fast. My head is still spinning. I'm still lost. I always was lost. Deep down, I want to think that I can get out but I just can't see past the smoke.

Song: Mr. Handagote - Tomas Dvorak Tell us...how did you escape the damage to the city?
I just got here. How could I have escaped something I wasn't even present for that is just ridiculous look I am going to take my things, find my place, settle in, and then- well what I do then is none of your business. Unless you are hiring in which case hello I would like a job I promise to work hard and not bite at customers.
