He gave his head a nod. "It is certainly looks to be a great place to grow things." His gaze floated to the waterfall, admiring it once again. The water, though frothy and white as it fell to the stream below, was otherwise clear. And the mist that drifted off from it would ensure the plants remained watered even if she wasn't here to water them or if it didn't rain for some time. Turning his gaze back to Xiao he listened to her describe what was in her garden. "Nothing wrong with growing common flowers. They can be just as lovely as the more rare kinds, and I'm sure a lot less work to raise to maturity as well." He paused to think for a moment. "You know I can't recall if I have seen a gerbera before or not, the name sounds familiar but I can't seem to picture what it looks like." Mahlar chuckled slightly and gave his head a shake. His eyes settled back on Xiao and he noticed the soft blushing of her cheeks and that made him smile lightly. "Could I talk you into showing me how you make arrangements? That one you described earlier sounded wonderful and it would be great to see exactly how you do it."

She looked at her flower gardens and smiled, the soil was nice and moist from the waterfall mist. Upon hearing his request she turned her attention to him and said, "But of course Mahlar. It does take some time to create one though, I hope you don't mind." Walking to her little lean to she grabbed the last redwood flower box in her mouth and put it on the ground in front of him. "Okay it starts with one of these." She nudged the box over and once it was tipped on its side used her nose and hooves to fill it halfway with soil from her gardens. She looked up at him with dirt all over her little nose and smiled.
She-Ra of Etheria Now I have this image of Xiao with dirt on her nose and I wish I could draw well enough to preserve the idea!

He was of course thrilled that she agreed to show him just how she made flower arrangements. But had she declined to show him then he would have accepted that as well. He wasn't about to force her to do something she didn't want to. But luckily she agreed and so he flashed her a big smile before she went to get a wooden box from her lean to. "I don't mind that it will take some time." He assured her. "Flowers take a long time to grow, so I suppose that it makes sense that it would also take time to place them into an arrangement. If you went to fast they could become damaged," He watched her place some moist dirt into the small box and then couldn't help but laugh a bit when she looked up at him with dirt all over her nose. She looked so cute like that. He wanted to say so but held it back for now, he didn't want to embarrass her by his words. But he couldn't stop the smile on his lips that came and refused to go away.

Xiao watched him smile and and couldn't help smiling back, the dirt on her nose shifted and some of it fell off but for the most part it was still there. "Most of the flowers I grow do take an awful long time but the colors as so easy to work with and they make the best arrangements.." The blush was back again. "Now comes the fun part!" She walked past him and went to the little stream, as close to the waterfall as she dared. Dipping her head into the cold water, she picked up a mouthful of the small rounded stones at the bottom of the stream, pounded smooth by waterfall's force. Walking back with a mouthful of stones was no easy matter and they clacked unpleasantly against her teeth but she loved to used them in her arrangements. She placed the stones in the pot and arranged them with her nose until they were just right. Then she dug out the center and returned to her house to get the lovely flower they had found together.
She-Ra of Etheria I have had to look up how to arrange flowers!

"And I am sure they are worth the wait. Plus you get to see them at each stage of their life." He smiled, it would be great to watch a plant grow from start to finish, it would be a way to truly enjoy a flower even when it was just a sprout poking out of the ground. Mahlar had to admit, a very small part of him was jealous of what Xiao had, and yet seeing where she lived and work also inspired him to try something like this himself. But first he would finish watching her make this arrangement and then he would likely ask her lots of questions about growing flowers, more arrangement making details and anything else he could think of. It was so great to find another flower lover. He turned and watched her go to the stream and then return. Seeing this arrangement come to life before him, even if she was only just starting it, he could see how much work went into them and appreciated what she did even more. His eyes lit up and his smile grew when she went to her lean to and retrieved the flower from earlier. Now it was getting really interesting. "I think I can guess what the next step is." He said with a slight chuckle.

Xiao smiled around the flower before planted it in the opened soil right in the middle of the pot. The stones she'd placed earlier clacked against one another as she used her nose to fill in the hole. The flower stood upright in the pot, a lovely reminder of their meeting. "You guessed quite right Mahlar." She went back to her house hoping he didn't think her inattentive. She tended to bustle when making one of her arrangements, not quite paying attention to the outside world. She was trying to make him a part of this as much as she could. "It is a lovely thing to watch indeed. The life of a flower is such a pure thing. From seed to finish is an amazing process." She returned to her house and brought out four bamboo leaves from her precious bundle and set them next to the pot. "Please make sure the wind doesn't take them. I'd hate to waste such precious leaves." With one last trip to the house she grabbed the lilies needed to complete the piece. Lilies always tasted awful and she couldn't help the face she made when she had them in her mouth.

He watched closely as she placed the flower that they had found out in the forest in the dirt and then moved the pebbles in close around it's base. Now he could see the full reason behind the pebbles, he had thought that perhaps they were simply there for decoration, but now he could see they had a second purpose and that was lending support to the flowers that Xiao was placing in the arrangements. Mahlar couldn't help but give his head a not of approval as the flower arrangement began to look more and more like what she had described to him earlier. "I have yet to see one grow from it's beginning stages of life to it's end." He commented as he watched her continuing to bustle about gathering the things she needed and placing them in or near the arrangements. When she asked him to make sure the leaves didn't blow away he stepped closer to them. "Of course." There wasn't much wind at the moment but that didn't mean that a gust couldn't come along and scatter the leaves. When he glanced up to to see Xiao coming towards him with a lily in her mouth and a sour expression on her face Mahlar couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "I'm sorry," he said as he tried to stop laughing. "I don't mean to laugh at you, but that face you are making right now is quite hilarious." Really he wasn't laughing at her, it was just one of those moments in life when a good chuckle is needed. He cleared his throat and forced the laughter away. He looked back down at the bamboo leaves to ensure that in his moment of distraction that they hadn't blown away, luckily they were still there. He breathed a sigh of relief before glancing at the arrangement. "It really is coming together nicely."

She walked closer to the arrangement and sat the lilies down amidst the other pieces and smiled when he explained why he laughed at her. "Oh I know you aren't laughing at me Mahlar, just at the funny face I bore when carrying those flowers. Lilies always have the most awful taste to be honest." Picking up one of the lilies she stuck it into the pot at the corner and scooted pebbles to hold it up. "I am really glad that you like it. This is the best and funnest arrangement I have made in a while. Its nice to show someone how I make them." She blushed a little when she said that. Mahlar was so handsome and with his understanding of flowers she couldn't help the little crush she had developed on him. He was nothing like that sour old Usidia her parents had tried to make her marry. She continued sticking the lilies in the pot until each corner had exactly three. She then reached for the first of the four bamboo leaves and stuck one in the dirt and pebbles on each side until they were all in place. "Almost done... I just need some moss now..." She wandered back to her waterfall and stuck her head behind it to grab a piece of moss from the stone wall.

"I have to admit I have never carried a lily in my mouth, but I certainly believe you. No one makes a face like that just for fun." He told her with a slight chuckle. He had of course tasted his share of unpleasant plants in his life, some eaten during his foalhood and others while hunting out flowers to give to his mother and grandmother. But even those he had not had such a strong reaction to as he had seen with Xiao carrying those lilies. He caught her blushing and couldn't help but smile, she was so cute when she blushed. Ah who was he kidding, she was cute even when she wasn't blushing. "I'm sure they are all as nice as this one." His smile widened. "I'm glad you could share it with me." When she left to go get the moss Mahlar stepped closer to the arrangement to get a nice close look at it. Even though it wasn't complete yet, though it would be soon, he had to admire what she had done. It was clear that it would take quite a bit of practice to make something like this, but seeing her bring this one to life had inspired him to try it himself at some point. "What does the moss do?" He asked curiously. Wasteland Wyvern No worries, I know the feeling all too well.

Xiao laughed, "If you decide to take up the art of arrangement, just prepare yourself for lilies..." She smiled and made the face again before pulling down two more piece of moss. She grabbed the three pieces she'd taken down and walked back to him setting them on the ground. "The moss helps the flowers and in my opinion always looks nice. If you use the moss found behind waterfalls its nicely wet without being drippingly so. It helps the flowers stay moist so the arrangement lasts longer." She carefully added the moss around the base in a triangular shape. The moss tasted bad too but not as bad as the lilies. "And there we have it. All done!" She was quite proud of this arrangement, and if he would like it wanted to gift it to Mahlar. Her blush was back and though she tried it was hard to hide a blush on milk white cheeks.
She-Ra of Etheria Whee, spring cleaning done! Can finally RP for a while before having to do something else at home.

"I'll have to keep that in mind." He said with a chuckle. He didn't think he would mind the flavor of lilies all that much, at least he figured he would be able to handle it somewhat, especially if he did decide to start making arrangements and more so if he was making them for a special reason. Mahlar watched her as she retrieved the moss from behind the waterfall. It was clear that she had this whole flower arranging thing down to a science. But more so he was greatly impressed that she could explain the whole process to him while doing the task. He knew some Soquili that would have to explain things before or after doing a task, simply because their concentration had to wholly rest on what they were doing. Being shown each step and having the explanation to go with that made it all the more easier to understand how and why she did everything. He took a step closer to watch her place the moss around the flower stems. "It really does seem to add something to it all." He agreed with a bob of his head. Of course the eyes were drawn in to the flowers but the moss added that extra touch of green at the bottom and seemed to tie it all together. When she announced that it was finished he gave her a very big smile. "It is amazing Xiao! You put it together so quickly." He looked back at the arrangement having a nice close look at everything that went into it. "It's the most beautiful thing I have every seen..." He paused to glance up at her again. "...well almost the most beautiful thing ever." He said with a sheepish smile. The flowers were pretty, but Xiao was more so.

Xiao smiled happily at him for his praise of her creation. "Would you like it Mahlar? Its admittedly the first I have ever created with an audience so it should go to you if you want it that is." She was still blushing heavily after his comment of beauty. She'd never really recieved any compliments. Being taught from birth that as a lady she should ignore compliments because they were false praise made it hard for her to accept them at all. "Well, I um... It seems that..." Flustered was the least word that could explain her current mind state. She looked around a bit and finally settled on the arrangement. With a nudge of her nose she pushed it closer to him.
She-Ra of Etheria Lol, she's not used to compliments.

Mahlar was a bit stunned that Xiao offered the arrangement to him. Yes, he definitely thought it was a beautiful thing and had truly enjoyed watching her put it together but taking it, well he wasn't sure what to say. Of course he wanted to take it, for it would remind him of Xiao each time he looked at it. But she had put so much work into it and used up some of her supplies making it that he didn't want to take it - at least he should pay her for it in some way. After standing there silently for probably a few too many moments Mahlar snapped out of his stupor. "I would love to have it. But are you sure you just want to give it to me? Can I do anything in return for you? As a thank you for sure a lovely piece and the knowledge of how to make it." He would do a task if she asked, perhaps she needed some different flowers or other supplies for her arrangements that he could gather for her. When he heard her struggling over her words he looked up again from the arrangement. It took him a moment to figure out what he had said that led to her being so tongue tied. He blushed with embarrassment. He hadn't meant to make her feel uncomfortable, he was simply telling the truth. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to cause you any grief by my words." Well now he had done it! Keep you thought to yourself next time, he mentally scolded himself. Wasteland Wyvern Ha ha, she's adorable when she's all flustered.

Getting over her flustered state was just a matter of slight mental scolding and some breathing exercises. In through the nose, out through the mouth. She felt better after only a few breaths. Her smile back in place she said, "Oh no, I'd like you to have it as a gift! You don't have to do anything in return Mahlar. It was enough that I got to show someone the art and that he was so very interested in it, instead of just pretending to like it." The pretending to like it had come from when she had flower arranged for her betrothed back in her homeland. He had feigned interest and fallen asleep halfway through. The tears that welled in her eyes had never fallen but they flowed freely when she was at home that night. Shaking her head she came back to reality and hoped memories like that would go away some day. "Oh you needn't apologize Mahlar. I... Well I am just not used to compliments. In my homeland a mare was taught not to accept them as real and ignore that they were ever said." She paused and smiled at him shyly, "I am honored that you think me beautiful. If I may say you are very handsome yourself." She blushed fiercely at that. Never had she given a compliment before, but she meant every word of it. His amazing hair, laden with flowers, his wonderful eyes so kind and welcoming. She felt things she'd never felt before when she was with him, and while scary it was so intriguing that she never wanted the moment with him to end.

Mahlar let a smile return to his lips. She truly wanted him to have it, and so he would accept the flower arrangement. "I would be happy to take it with me." He told her. And he was, it was truly lovely and it would help him remember today quite well. "I only wish I could return your kindness." Perhaps he could, though not in this very moment, but he was already thinking now of ways he could thank her for such a lovely gift as well as for teaching him how to make it. When she explained why she had reacted in such a way to his compliment it helped him understand, though it was slightly confusing. "That is a strange custom...but I suppose each land has it's own ways of approaching things." He wasn't going to hold it against her for being raised in such a way, but hopefully she would not mind any future compliments from him. As she accepted him compliment and even returned it with her own about he he couldn't help but let his smile grow wider. "Thank you. I am so glad that we crossed paths today, it has truly been special." His gaze shifted around the little area that she called home, what she had here was perfect. His eyes lifted for a moment and took in the sun. It was beginning to dip down towards the horizon. Had he really been here that long? Why it only felt like a few minutes had passed. "Ah...I hate to bring this to an end Xiao, but it appears time has slipped away from us." He said and gestured towards the sun which could be spotted between the trees. "I'll admit I wish I could stay here longer, learn more about you and your flower arrangements. Perhaps I could return soon and we could spent more time together?" He really hoped she would agree to this.
