"Well if you can't find anybody you like, I'll marry you, hon," Phoenix assured Divinity. That's what guildmates/coworkers were for. Play marrying each other for baked goods in shared dream games.
She watched the stranger's reaction with a knowing sort of interest. "Naw, not crazy. Don't you ever think crazy, it means you've got a skill. One that people like us," she gestured to Divinity and then herself, "...have in spades. Means we can do our jobs. So I suppose that's why you're here too, whatever made this place drew in folks like ourselves."
The gryphon paused and then gave him a speculative smile, "Maybe you won't be a civilian for long."

Tall and curvy with a proud bearing, Phoenix strides about in red and black Gryphon armour like it was designed just to swirl dramatically about her and emphasize how freaking majestic she is. From the name, to the cockscomb of a faux hawk, to vivid orange-red eyes, Phoenix's appearance announces: I bring the fire.
Divinity gave Phoenix a long slow look but the brightness in his voice didn't subside "I'd be up for some casual marriage." And he felt like it was appropriate to laugh. "If you have the time to spare."
The other discussion was of interest to him, he didn't quite understand exactly understand the whole question of potential and shadows. Wonder Park had seemed incidental and yet, here he was part of Deus and told he had potential. There was a thought, just a consideration that perhaps he had seen shadows all his life but had never been able to tell them from real people. All the medicines, all the treatments. It was very possible.
"If someone asks you a question that seems strange." he said idly. "You might want to say no."
"Is that so?" McCowboy cocked a brow to the suggestion that he may not be a civilian for much longer. That sounded awfully cryptic to his ears, and he wasn't sure if he should be excited or deathly afraid. Maybe a little bit of both. He took a nervous sip from his mead. "It's good to know I ain't crazy, at any rate."
He looked over to the pale blonde and chuckled.
"To be honest bud, if I said no to every strange question I get asked, then hell, I'd just be saying no to every damn thing that's happened in this messed up little world," he laughed. "Just to get this drink I had a goddamn walrus ask me to trade him for one of my memories. Now that's a ********' weird question, but hell, it got me some booze."

Phoenix shot Divinity a wink and finger gun, "I'll keep you in mind next time I'm over there." She kept most of her attention on McCowboy though, there was a certain novelty being on this side of things. Playing the knowing veteran to the fresh-faced could-be recruit. Well kinda fresh-faced. Ish.
She grinned at the McCowboy, "Last month we all got turned into kittens. Not even a dream, real life kittens. A lot of weird s**t may be in your future, hoss."
McCowboy wasn't even sure if he should believe her. On one hand, he really wanted to. The idea that he has the potential to be something beyond himself...that was something he always wanted to hear. On the other hand, she was talking about being turned into a cat, so this b***h might be cray-cray. Or she was sane and whatever group she is talking about is the real crazy one. Or a mixture of both.
"Is that supposed to be comforting?" he choked on a nervous chuckle. "So what, are you saying there's some kind of magic back in the real world?" He was a bit suspicious of that notion. Perhaps it was his religious upbringing - something he often tried to reject, but struggled to fully turn his back towards - but the notion that magic exists felt blasphemous to him. "Wouldn't that kind of stuff be known by everyone?"

She scrunched her face at magic, then shrugged, "Well to me it's pretty much magic but we we like, have science nerds instead of wizards. On our side at least. Maybe it's kinda both? Not my job, though." Mr. Tum Tums held up the rest of his tiny drink to her, which she took and threw back like the ittiest shot. Not bad.
"Naw. Most people can't see it like we do, or like, they go into denial and s**t. Maybe the government knows, but," Phoenix made a face, picking up the glass to stare through it, the world filtering like a funhouse mirror, "...also not my division."
"They probably would," he suggested. The information was all cryptic, but McCowboy didn't doubt that the government would keep secrets from the public. He wasn't a full-on conspiracy nut, but he was raised in a small town in Texas, and he may or may not still want verification that the president was in fact born in the United States even if he voted for him.
"So what is your division then? What do you do?" he started. "If I can ask? I get that there's some secrecy."

Grinning she upgraded to double finger guns, complete with little pew-pew sounds. Though tiny, the drink still had a swift, pleasantly buzzing impact. "I was in the hit stuff division, but I just transferred to the protect stuff division."
Placing the glass upside down on the table she spun it idly, "So what'd you do, then? Are you a forreals cowboy?"
"Naw, nothing that exciting, or exciting as what you do," he insisted. "These days I'm just a bartender out in Nashville. Worked a few jobs before that, odd jobs here and there. Construction work, a moving company, waiting jobs, even was a stripper for a little while. Whatever I could do to pay the bills." He shrugged.
"But the bar out in Nashville? It's called Flaming Saddles and it's got one of them mechanical bulls, and I'm a ********' pro at that," he boasted. "So I reckon you could say I'm a bit of a cowboy at heart."
