"Hunter?" Nils huh? Never heard of him. But he did point to his own chest. "Hunter too. I used to dream in video game all the time. Like I said.. whether its a dream or a game, we may as well play." Because they'd be forced to if this went the way of every other mass hallucination.

"Hunter?" He pointed at Phoenix now with a questioning glance. "I'll give you a hint.. I use a bow. Wink Wink. Legolas. Wink wink." Anything? Anyone who really knew him would put it together quickly. Especially with all the white he was wearing.

Pursing her lips, Phoenix tried to recall a Nils and came up short. Maybe it was time to widen her social circle a bit. She shook her head then glanced at Slain but he was being a morose ******** and so looked at Legolas instead. Eyebrows raised, she grinned wide, "Ghost Hunk, is that you?" There was really only one hunter that came to mind when bows were involved. Also it would be a relief not to have to call him Legolas anymore.

"It's me! America!" The gryphon preened and flipped up her eye patch, as if that would somehow make her all the more recognizable. And truth to be told, beyond the hair and eye colour, once you got past the anonymity provided by the dreamscape, she did, in fact, look exactly the same as in real life.

"Well that explains why," said a drunken Slain who apparently had nothing more of substance to contribute to the conversation, "you're so damned bossy." Apparently he was feeling deeply wounded at accusations of nerd-dom. He leveled a finger at Bix, with an expression of exaggerated shrewdness. "And why you're so--so--" he made a vague dismissive motion that was suggestive of great enthusiasm. It was the kind of inexplicable hand gesture one might use to indicate an excited terrier.

Divinity's tail bristled under the table and his ears perked just slightly at America revealing her name. Other than this he made no move other than to shake his head. "Sorry guys, doesn't ring any bells here. I've been off island for a while though and was never much of a social butterfly. Waaaay too much backstabbing lately. Figures I get back and something like this happens." He looked a little sad at not recognising anyone.

"Still! I feel a bit less upset knowing Deus is here." though he did roll his eyes just a bit as he said it. "I mean. Hopefully we don't ******** everything up right? You guys seem like the good sort besides."

Slain got a raised brow as he also seemed to know America and the elf he hadn't identified just yet. It certainly wasn't Kostya. "How's the booze?"

"AMERICA!!" Bixolas grinned and threw his arms wide without making an advance to hug, it was more of a gesture. "So... is grumpo elitist b*****d.. surrounded by smoke and trying to look like a cooler hobo than he is..... Taym? Or..." he paused to think before shaking his head, "... no Mark doesn't have anything 'obscure and literary' about him..."

Yeah Taym you apparently made it onto the hobo scale with Mark. Also the 'hobo scale' was solely reliant on your level of stubble.

"We should still go by our screen names." There was a moment of serious Bix there, the experienced hunter who'd been through things like this more times than he could count. "Just in case."

She shot His Sulkiness a look before moving in to hug her sempai and maybe lift him off his feet since he was such a twiggy princess here. The idea that Slain was Taym of all people had her nodding, eyes glinting in amusement, "Explains the snootiness."

Bix's suggestion was reasonable but, "Alright, but I'm not calling you Legolas." She slapped him on the back and sat back down.

Phoenix turned to Divinity, hand outstretched, "Well we're all pretty awesome, and the elf dude is hella pro despite the," she waved at the bowman's everything, "...so you chose the right table at least. Pleased to meatcha."

Taym. That made sense. He was pleased.

The big easy smile he gave them was that of a guy who was feeling a hell of a lot less afraid and out of his depth, reassured by confident peers. "Yeah, its safer to keep our anonymity. Especially if we are nerds in real life." he joked, giving Legolas a look.

When he was offered America's hand he shook it and it irritated him for the gesture to have to be casual and friendly rather than the reverent intensity he would have preferred to imbue it with.

"Pleasure's all mine." he said playfully. "I feel like I'm in good hands."

Disturbed about the broken tree (but it was probably alright, just the game mechanics, it had seemed okay), Rodnent took refuge in the Tavern hoping for a...slightly quieter atmosphere.

He liked crowds, and people, so it was comforting to see some there, although he could not make head or tails of the drink menu.

Or the payment options.

"Thank you. Could I have the Invisible Mead?" That one had piqued his curiousity. He dug in his pockets, assuming the currency here must be called memory (like Munny or Gil or Rupees) or failing that, a story-

The best place to hide in the house took at least two of them. They were just small enough to wedge inside, and they often thought, if robbers or killers try to come into the house, this is where we'll go. One of us will have to stay outside. But the other two will be safe. Rodnent would have stayed behind. But they all practiced it. Pulling out the cushions, opening the sofa-bed, crawling up into the springs and piping, and pushing the sofa back in as far as it would go. It would not go all the way, but with the cushions back on, it looked nearly perfect. That's why someone had to stay behind. To put the cushions back on.

And immediately a story came into his head, and just as immediately he found a silver token.

"Very strange," he said genially. He had never played or had a game or dream quite like it. He gave the oversized mug a contemplative sip - the drink was warm, and pleasant, and definitely felt wet even if there was nothing at all in the cup no matter how he looked at it or which way he turned the mug.

He took an open seat.

Phoenix gave the blonde a confident, "Damn right," before letting go. Turning her attention to the newcomer, she looked him up and down before commenting, "How the hell did you manage to make such a cute costume that depressing?"

Divinity was glad that Phoenix was duly distracted by the arrival of a new individual to their little collective, because he let his eyes linger on her perhaps a little too long for a casual acquaintance. But like a cloud across the face of the sun, it passed and his bright eagerness returned.

"Hey there." he said, giving Rod a wave. "Fancy picking me up a drink? I'm a bit stuck in here with the wings and all."

"...Depressing?" Rodnent picked at the fur, "It's a softer color," he admitted.

He made an attempt at a smile.

"I would," he was not sure if he could, "But, the menu...they give you drinks by the Memory. I'm not sure how it all works. You might try it for yourself, first."

Phoenix gave the mouse man's smile a reassuring one in turn, "Oh honey, whatever it is, don't you worry. Life's gonna get better. I mean you just met me, so things are improving already!"

She raised her eyebrows and nodded at the bartender, "Yeah, it's easy as pie, and not the first time this place poked at memories, either." The gryphon grimacec a bit at the reminder of the lake. "Better get used to it while you have the luxury."

It was worth a try, he conceded as he awkwardly wriggled out of his seat and stumbled over to stand by the dormouse man. "Nothing wrong with a bit of grey." he said with a smile, letting his stripes fade back into view. "It's subtle."

And turning he feline batted the unfamiliar man with his tail and wandered off to retrieve himself a drink.

It was a stir. A spark of life in a place where life had never been. A spark in a land of endless ice. And he moved to it like desperate spirits clustering around a way out of some horrendous plane. He remembered the look in her eyes when she first saw him. Really saw him. He could never forget.

He stopped, blinked and stared at the token in his hand before handing it over and retrieving his mead.

He sat down again after setting it on the table, looking a little shell shocked.

"That was erm. Strange." he said and took a sip.

Legolas gave the newcomer a bit of a wave, commenting on his appearance. "Could just be an avatar though.." He said helpfully about the gloomy gus who seemed to be joining them. "Look how ruggedly handsome," he glanced up at Taym's name since they didn't know this mousy fellow, "Slain is!"

He waited for a supportive 'oooohhh snap' from anywhere with an open mouth expectant expression but, as always, it would probably not come.

His hands slipped into his pockets idly and the elf found something he didn't expect. The yellow device was turned over and he started to fiddle with it. His voice was distant, in the way it was when someone's attention wasn't wholly on the conversation, "These things always deal in memories." It was a matter of fact statement. "Let's hope we still have them when we wake up."

There was a tavern. Of course there was. So, of course, InvisibleDog had to check it out. Who hadn't been in this kind of establishment a hundred times, after all? What he was really curious about, though, was what the ale would taste like, because he'd never been in a full sensory environment in a game before. He hesitated in the doorway, looking at the empty tables and the walrus behind the bar and the little knot of players at one table. Then he firmed his resolution, straightened up, and strode in.

It was mead, not ale, but that didn't matter. There was Invisible Mead, and he was InvisibleDog; the choice was an obvious one. The price was .. a memory? Was that like gil or something? He checked his pockets --

A memory slithered in unbidden, a slanting ray of sunlight in the basement that fell on a single spot at 3:03 in the afternoon, and under the creaky floorboard by the shelf, he'd hidden a cardboard box full of unusual rocks, because when something like that happened you had to hide a treasure there.

-- and there was a token in his hand. He blinked at it, a little unsettled, and handed it to the bartender. The walrus grunted and handed him a mug that looked empty, but had the definite heft and slosh of liquid. Huh. It really was invisible mead.

InvisibleDog looked over at the player group, thought about it a moment longer, then wandered over towards them, nonchalantly, casually, just going in that direction. No big. Not on purpose, certainly. If he happened to stop right behind an empty chair, it was a coincidence.
