[ Sinter really wasn't sure what to think of Tamiya. Of course he'd heard rumors about clowns, but she didn't really seem... capricious. If anything she seemed more solemn and nervous than Sinter. He regarded her suspiciously, but thanked her for returning his net all the same.
"...Yeah. Little guy went quick at least. Not like he saw what was coming..." Sinter reasoned cautiously. It wasn't in anyone's best interest to be argumentative. "...Just don't like killing," he muttered additionally with a little embarrassment. Pretty lame for a troll to get bent out of shape over simple animal death. Wasn't like he was even a vegetarian or anything.
Sinter was brought back from his thoughts by light pressure on his shoulder. He looked at Tamiya quizzically, but said nothing. The gesture seemed well-intentioned, whatever it was.
Of course, before Sinter could make a decision regarding his feelings towards Tamiya, the rain started to fall, throwing even Sinter out of sorts. Tamiya scrambled away and Sinter looked around stupidly.
"Oh, that's definitely not normal--!" When was the last time it had rained around these parts?! There wasn't even anything around to take cover under.
Thankfully, the rain stopped as soon as it had started--though not before thoroughly soaking through Sinter's jacket. WACKY weather indeed. Sinter carefully peeled his drenched hair out of his eyes and sighed. ]

Tamiya peeked out of her lusus's general underbelly area. Her makeup was largely untouched, thank goodness. Her lusus, however, was a different story. In the fortunately brief rainstorm, he had been entirely drenched. His skin hung off of him with waterlogged thickness. Tamiya crawled out from under him and he shook rapidly and sat on the sandy ground, collecting a fair amount of dirt around his tail and rear. He preened silently, posture too poor to make out his shape -- he looked rather like a pile of wet cloth.
"That...s**t... was... Unnatural! We need to stop the WACKY!" Yelped the litle girl. She peered left and right, and scuttled back over to Sinter as the group began to move again. He looked so sour and red in the rain. That was a good thing about this one -- he couldn't be sneaky about his blood color.
The wet crust of sand under her geta felt extremely peculiar. "You know these parts, yes? The dangers? Ill spirits?"
Tamiya squinted into the distance. For a moment, she swore she saw an apparition. But, of course, as it charged into view she recognized the shape immediately. The lusus!
"WACKY coming! Begone!" Tamiya shrieked and flung her net to stall the beast with the best of her ability.
[ Sinter had dropped his net on the ground and was busy removing and wringing out his coat when Tamiya had scurried over to him. Sinter looked up quickly, but returned to his futile attempts at drying out his coat. He was getting used to Tamiya's presence.
"Um. If you mean if I'm from the desert, yeah, I'm from Chittentown."
Sinter shook his coat one last time before putting it back on. He grimaced as his arms slipped into the damp sleeves. He didn't bother with the buttons and picked up his net.
"I guess I know the, uh, dangers of the desert about as well as anybody... schoolfeeding wise. I'm not exactly a survivalist. Just the local common knowledge stuff. Don't travel without adequate sun protection and water; just 'cos it's hot during the day doesn't mean it doesn't get cold at night; zombies are diurnal." Sinter shrugged. "Why? Where are you from?"
Before Sinter could get a proper answer, he was nearly tossed out of the way by Tamiya's response to the lusus. Sinter regained his bearings quick as he could and skirted around Tamiya to net the lusus from the other side. ]

Alexin couldn't help it - when Commy had shrieked about the bouncebeast, they had stuffed a fist in their mouth rather than burst into snickers. It was a bouncebeast. A fluffy, harmless, tasty bouncebeast. They'd still been muffling snickers until Kabukidad appeared on the scene - then it'd turned to curiosity. Alexin didn't approach the lusus, they weren't stupid. They did stare for some time, though.
And then, out of all things, it began to rain! Alexin didn't really mind ; they had thick boots on so the wet sand crunched satisfyingly, and the cloak that had been pressed on them meant their clothes didn't get more than damp.
But it was the arrival of the lusus that finally spurred them into action, as he tossed the net!
Regina couldn't help but be a little smug as she wring out her poncho, after the rain had stopped. All her clothing was made out of materials that were perfectly fine being submerged in water, for obvious reasons. She was debating sharing this fact, since they might wonder /why/, when the slightly nervy purpleblood began to shriek. "Got it!!" Spinning around, Regina charged forward, all smiles. How seriously pissed would her advisors be if the queen was the one to bring the errant lusus back home? Seriously pissed. Fun times!
Almost bouncing around it, she prodded it violently again with the sharp side of her sword as the first net slid off. "You overgrown stinkbeast! Ahahha!!" Seriously, what did they raise this lusus on, bricks? It sure felt like it, from how hard it was to pierce it's side.
As the second net began to slide off, she tumbled out of the way of that damn tail, striking at it wildly. It was more like an improvised circus routine than a battle, and the shifting sand was doing no ones footwork any favours, but Regina managed to score another nice blow. She hoped that the wigglers were taking notes.
Finally, the last net slipped as she managed a parting blow on that damnable tail. Watching the lusus rocket off, she turned to the rest of the party, wiping her sword, then her forehead. "And this is why it's normally not worth it to try and kill a lusus. Seriously these things are like .. punishment tanks. Where you can store a lot of punishment." True to her words, it disappeared over the dunes at the same speed it had arrived, showing no hint of slowing down.

REFRESHING REST POST
Everyone in your group is well rested. Your group recovers three stamina, to a maximum of five! Your group recovers 13 hp, if you were previously at zero!
Not weeks after Bloodfest, a familiar snowfall begins to accumulate on the ground, and then rapidly accelerates into a snowstorm. Between the snow, sand and a rapidly changing WACKY sky, it’s nearly impossible to keep track of up and down, let alone a white lusus in a snowstorm. This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
1,3
The group decides to take refuge in a cave far in the distance. Taking the trip was well worth it, and even though you’ve lost some time in the night, the cool air is really quite refreshing. The group can choose to spend some time bonding in the cave. Hanging out in the cave for 3 posts will result in everyone in the group regaining 1 stamina!
Uh oh. The ground rumbles suddenly. Not again! Sure enough, after a moment the rough shaking of the ground resumes with surprising force. It’s an earthquake! This weather effect will remain in play until a 2, 3, 4, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
2,2
You find a peculiar desert creature snuffling around in the sand! The poor little guy seems pretty bewildered by all of this weather stuff, so you decide to give it a warm pocket to cling onto. Your group has adopted the multi-limbed gerbil! After the meta, each member of the group can bring their own special friend home.
Something glinting over a bluff catches your eye. A burrow in the side of the dune yields a bounty of shining golden beetles! And as they say, lucky beetles mean good fortune (and megabux$$$). Each member of the group has acquired 1 lucky beetle that can be redeemed at the end of the meta for a variety of rewards. You cannot carry any more than 5 lucky beetles total; if you run into this encounter more than 5 times, you cannot collect any more.
3,1
Out of the storm emerges a very disgruntled wet bedraggled desert sandcrawlinglizardbeast! It has no intention of humoring more desert interlopers. Or maybe it's gotten confused and thinks its a tornado. The sandcrawlinglizardbeast has 10 HP. The group takes 3 damage each post it hasn't been defeated yet.
What’s this? A piece of the WACKY? A part of a ship? A discarded Greasy-Bake Condescension Oven? Whatever it is, it’s pretty beaten up, but the tech looks significant. You decide to pick it up just in case. Your group has acquired a pile of charred technology! Each troll in the group gets one, and is recommended to hang onto it, you never know what it will be useful for.... You cannot carry more than one charred technology.
3,4
The feeling of another oncoming WACKY weather system prickles your skin. With a feeling of dread, you brace yourself for the effects of… A soothing, balmy breeze. Aaah… This weather effect will remain in play until the next dice are rolled.
Plop. Plop. Something drops from the sky, landing over the hill. Another flops into the sand nearby, making an unpleasant squelching noise. Plop—splat. At your feet, the grey, gooey eye of a fish stares back up at you. Plop. A mackerel. Plop-plop. A few sardines. Plop plop plop plopplopploploplopopop—FISH RAIN! This weather effect will remain in play until another weather effect is rolled. Players may roll 2d4 for their regular item, location and lusus encounters, but will be plagued with a constant fishy invasion until then.
4,3

Tamiya watched intently as the blueblood slashed at the lusus. Her skill was admirable... And her weapon was very fine. Tamiya decided to speak up and say so.
"But you are apparently doing a s**t-ton of punishment to the scaly-a** hoof b*****d, Comuta. I am sure now its aura will be easy to trace with its blood."
Tamiya retrieved her net and whipped it around a couple of times to shake the extra sand off.
--
After resting, the group moved on. Tamiya looked to the members. Sinter's comment had been interrupted by the unfortunate lusus "Chittentown, yes?" She narrowed her eyes. Chittentown was rife with unfortunates, freaks and scum. The dredges of Alternia filled the city to its craggy brim with psychic auras and government conspiracies. Sinter at least seemed well groomed. And he was assisting the royalists. She trusted him about as much as the other coolbloods in the group, judging his temperament as mild and dour, if not a little delicate for his response to the killing of the bouncebeast.
"I do not understand how you choose to live around the walking dead," the pot called the kettle black, and threw in a naive slight to boot. "I am from Old Hemisect."
Kabukidad hissed and whispered, his chorus of voices close to Tamiya's ears. Tamiya apparently soured at his comment. She turned to the other, younger blueblood in the group. He'd been rather quiet this time around -- though he had been giving Tamiya's lusus a look over earlier. His enthusiasm was disturbing and mysterious.
"Alexin and Comuta, where do you hail from?" Tamiya asked after a while, stiff and formal. She wasn't particularly in conversation, but the group demanded balance and she'd began to fret that she could have been perceived as conspiring with the redblood.
Tamiya bent down idly to pick up something odd in the sand, and outright beamed. Balancing the group paid off! She gasped happily, clutching the lucky beetle. "O, Mirthful Salvation! ********, look! A good sign!" She held out the beetles for all to see. "There's enough for each of us, thank the Messiahs,"
Tamiya fondly tapped her nose with her index and middle finger and gently pocketed the beetle. Resting was a wonderful idea. The group got off on a bad start after all, but surely now their fortune would turn around.

Regina gave a slight snort at the aura comment, but sheathed her weapon without saying anything. There wasn't much chance that the purpleblood actually had any psychic powers, so she was probably just sprouting some new-age chakra garbage.
--
As they moved on, Regina tilted her head slightly to watch the purpleblood, T-whatever, attempt to keep the conversation going. "Four fronds." Was her short reply before nodding approvingly at the beetles. Probably stashed away out here by some no good thief, they'd be sent to the royal vaults as soon as this was all over.
"Nice find. Let's -" Turning away, her face stiffened as her foot whacked hard into something solid, buried in the sand. After giving whatever it was an angry whacking with the flat of her blade, she knelt down and tugged out some scrapped metal boxes, filled with circuitry, and looking rather worse for wear. "Hm. This stuff is suspicious looking. We should bring it back for an analysis. Here, I'll carry it in my bag, you're all too scrawny to be lugging heavy junk around. Don't want to slow down, yeah?"

[ Sinter sniffed a little at Tamiya's reply. "My lusus is desert-dwelling. Not to mention it's not like a lowblood like me has the means to pick up and move to a place as nice as what I've got here."
Sinter almost said something about being less afraid of zombies than highbloods, but thought better of it. He chose instead to duck his head back down and watch his feet in the... sand...
"H... Hello..." Sinter stopped walking suddenly--group forgotten. He knelt down in the sand and shuffled around a little. When he stood back up, Sinter was positively beaming.
"Look, a gerbil!" Sinter held up his new little friend, cupped gently in both hands. Then, upon remembering his company, Sinter shied back away and returned the gerbil to his chest protectively.
His coat pocket was still kind of damp, but he figured it was safer for the little guy than the wet sand. ]

Alexin whooped as Commy attacked the lusus skillfully with her sword. Their eyes were shining as the beast ran off trailing blood, and they bounced up and down excitedly as they ran to retrieve the net ; a little torn around the edges from the lusus' flailing, but otherwise intact!
"That was awesome!"
They did try and listen to Commy's statement about the lusus and how you shouldn't attack them, but frankly it flew right over the excited troll's head. They'd totally get the lusus anyway. Their attention was caught by the little purpleblood and they tried to answer politely, respecting the hierarchy of blood.
"I hail from the forest around Four Fronds ; it's beautiful there. I imagine Old Hemisect must be a sight to see, also."
Actually, Alexin privately thought it was a really cool place to live - Old Hemisect that was. It was full of baddies, so a good place to train potential heroes. It was dangerous though, and Splitch had never let them go. Maybe when they were a teen.... Yeah! ....Huh?
Tamiya was speaking again, and this time in the cadence of the subjuggalator faithful! Alexin's little mouth went round as she (he thought anyway, gender was difficult) picked up a golden beetle! He carefully leant over and scooped up one too, pocketing it then grinning.
"Awesome find! Let's see what else we can find -- Oh."
Looked like Commy was ahead of the game, finding some charred circuitry which she quickly put in her back. Alexin puffed up a little at the implied slight ; he could totally carry it! Still, he guessed it might slow them down, and that was a good idea. He guessed.
"It looks interesting, that's for sure."
And then Sinter found an adorable gerbil. Alexin bounded up to the little redblood and peered at the creature, then beamed at the boy.
"Cute!"
But then his attention was caught by a different kind of creature as he tossed his net.
"The lusus is back!"

"Old Hemisect continues to evanesce every day as its carcass lays picked apart by scavengers and defiled beyond repair. Very dangerous, very dangerous. One day it will be swept clean, and all that has occurred there will wash deep into the desolate darkness. Only then can we clear a path to paradise," the purpleblood stated casually. She dug through the rubbish that the others had found with tender care. "But yes, come visit sometime."
Tamiya blinked. All of these things in the same little pile! Very peculiar. Perhaps a weather pattern? Surely it was a sign that something was near. Kabukidad hissed into her ear. She picked up a gerbil and put it into Sinter's pocket.
"Consider it compensation for the loss of the bouncebeast, earlier," Tamiya announced. "Nature works in mysterious ways, Sinter. Also..."
Her lusus whispered again, this time with a deep baritone and high screaming soprano simultaneously. Tamiya's lower lip quivered and she cleared her throat "I... did not mean to infer that your living situation was a choice." Another whisper, and Tamiya was reminded to end her apology with a stilted spurt of religious profanity.
Soon, the product of her earlier prediction came into view. The lusus! "I knew it!" she blurted.
Tamiya made to throw her net as quickly as possible.

[ Sinter wasn't entirely sure what Tamiya meant by anything she said about Old Hemisect. However, he did get the idea that she was offering him an apology... and another gerbil. Sinter blinked in surprise, but was hardly put-off by the new addition to his coat pockets. Alexin seemed pretty endeared the the gerbils as well... though they seemed pretty enthusiastic about everything in equal measure. Multi-limbed desert gerbils just seemed to have a way of bringing people together.
But then again, so did rampaging lusii. Sinter rushed to throw his net, albeit a little stiffly as he attempted to jostle the gerbils as little as possible. ]
