Leesa eyed the slowly rising hoof with a hallow gaze. It was going to happen and there really wasn't anything she could do about it. Not yet... She pitied this creature, this monster unable to resist the opportunity that had been laid out in front of her. The opportunity to cast a cruel act and be enticed by the power it granted. It was a true form of evil and she could see how much the mare enjoyed it. Enjoyed her pain, her suffering. All she did was coat her in mud! Was this really something she deserved? Like a bolt of lighting, the pain galloped through her entire body, engulfing every part of her, it was followed by another scream. Water bubbled at her lids and she clamped her hard edged teeth against her lips to stop any other sound of suffering from joining it's kin. The others laugh echoed it's disturbing melody, painted crimson from it's canvas. Would this torment never end? The weather reflected the mutant cat's miserable mood. He was lost, alone and wet. His usual cheerful and colourful demeanour had been beaten by the loss of his love, his temporary home and everything he knew. He had no idea where he was to go next, what he was supposed to do. Heartland was the only place that welcomed him and yet he knew all that was waiting for him was another part of the land painted in blood, memories and lastly, misery. There was no escape from the things he felt, no way of avoiding the pain and the heartache. His piercings were lifelike in their chimes this time, ringing a soft, sorrowful tune rather than their usual soothing melody. He cast the world a glance of his inward pain from under his bangs as they clung mercilessly to his face, barely protecting them from the sting of the rain. If it wasn't from the brief pause in the thunder from the lightening he would never have noticed the strangers beyond the tree line or heard the bone-shattering screech that found its way to his ears. It was enough to pull him away from the unbearable sulk he had slumped in to and bound with grace out in to the open. And within the next flash of lightning no other creature could have been as blinding as him, with every piercing and colour glinting away. He didn't recognise the bodies at first though familiarity called to him of one of them, the one looming over the mare whose cries he had caught. He marched slowly toward the scene, flicking his tail narrowly in connection to his low yowls.

Leesa realised if there was ever a time to strike, then it was now. The mare was distracted, it was easy to see the wickedness growing inside her, she could see the dark magic curdling within her eyes. She didn't need to be psychic to know or a psychologist to work out what the end game would be. This mare, given the chance, would kill her. She was going to be left lifeless in the middle of the plain with no one to mourn her, no one to come looking. She would die alone, a forgotten memory to this world and a ghost to many. Something she believed she had already become. So was it really so bad to let her relieve her of the guilt she still felt for her past or the effort of living everyday with no real reason to go on? It suddenly didn't feel so bizarre, this moment in her life... She had been heading towards it all along. It was meant to happen and all it told her, despite her thoughts was that she wasn't ready to die. Pushing with all her might against the ground, she found her footing and her way closer to the mare, pointing her horn to the others throat. Noticing something different in her eyes the closer she got. The vision of another. Still too far away to get a clear view of who he was dealing with, he continued to stalk the figure in a threatening manor hoping that it would scare her away. Whoever it was they were hurting somebody else and although he had no idea what had lead to such a violent and bloody sight, he had lived enough battles to know solving the issue like this only made things worse. His slit pupils moulded in to pins as the colour in his eyes reflected the one preying upon the helpless. She was lost in what could be, a darkness he had seen before in those closer to him than he would have liked to admit. He couldn't have been certain of what registered his presence with the other only that she had noticed him nearing the two of them. His eyes widened, his expression and stature diluting from it's current phase in to something that resembled a younger, innocent version of himself. His mouth was ajar, teeth peering from under his lips. He knew this mare and she knew him but why was she here and what was she doing with this mare? His mouth came to and his widened eyes found some normality as he continued his journey towards them, this time was more casual than his first appearance.

Boris could only offer a sympathetic smile to Vanya. Like many others in his life, he had disappointed her. Despite only wanting what was best for the people he loved, the one that was his, he happened to find himself at the source of all their pain. The one that drove them in to the arms of darkness and madness. He was like the hatters personal love guide, no matter whose lives he touched, they found their way to them. Moulding in to their crooked lifestyle. He had seen how it ended, in tears, bitter and broken until finally there was no emotion left. Just a shell of something that used to be. His ears flattened to the back of his head when she admitted that his presence had been missed. He couldn't and wouldn't be able to believe that she had truly missed him. He had heard those words before, he had seen this part of his life and he couldn't let it play all over again. "No." He let out that gentle laugh once more, under his breath. "No Vanya, you couldn't have." His lips twisted in to a slow grin. "From everything that has happened since your beautiful heart started beating up until this moment, I have been but a passing image." He paused, eyes lowering to her blood stained coat. "And that is how I will remain." He lowered his head in a bow of farewell and turned his body, eyes directed to their corners at her before they took to the forest once more.
