Even if Sherry was treating this rather lax, he knew she could pack a mean punch when needed. Though, he had to admit that was a bit of a close call.

The shadowlings were being a bit more difficult than Sherry liked. She took out two more, and Armagnac kept up the roaring in her brain. "Glad to hear it!" she called to Jake. She did worry about him sometimes. Not that she needed to today. As Armagnac was angrily pointing out. Status Wave: 3Attack Dmg: 2 Total Shadowlings taken out: 10 Recoveries left: 1

If only he did this well during their spar. Oh well.
Though he knew she was perfectly fine, he couldn't help but worry glancing back every so often. It wasn't until Chester reminded him that he had a charge that he finally kept his attention focused on the shadowlings before him, delivering a series a quick rapid strikes at them.Status Wave: 4 Attack Dmg: 11 Total Shadowlings taken out: 32 Recoveries left: 1

Sherry counted herself just fine, and she was thoroughly used to Armagnac not being happy enough. And as the next wave of shadowlings closed in, Sherry found herself an opening, and ended up dispatching a fair number of the creatures. Armagnac was hardly appeased. Though there was no end to the shadowlings, they had managed to take down enough that the exit was now visible. He had to admit this run was a LOT better than his trainee one, and Chester couldn't agree more. Just a few more, and they'd be out.

Jake made it look easy. He really did. Sherry was just a little bit proud of that. Which was silly, maybe, but she was happy to him working so well with Chester again. As for her own path through the tunnel... it apparently didn't matter how many she'd taken out before. The next was of shadowlings filled in all the gaps. It didn't keep her from moving forward, but it certainly made it difficult. Very difficult. She almost thought they'd have her. Overwhelmed, she'd be. One shadowling fell, and Sherry slipped into the space it left. And found herself out of the tunnel. It was far too close for comfort. Even Jake was starting to worry, and he couldn't help but let out an audible sigh of relief as he saw her make it out, if but barely.
Weapons were desummoned, and he rushed over to her.
"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine," she said, nodding as Armagnac was desummoned amid the usual protests. "A little winded, maybe."
Now she felt like taking that hug she'd wanted a bit ago. "You're alright, too?"

He smiled, seeing as she seemed to be fine now, and returned the hug, nodding.
"I'm fine. I was planning on doing this myself, but Chester insisted I bring you along just in case anything happened. It seemed I was the one putting you in trouble instead. Sorry."

"Oh, stop that," she said, nudging him roughly with on arm even as she stepped back and out of the hug. "You're not putting me in any danger that I'm not already in." When would he just accept the fact that they were never really safe and asking for her help really didn't increase the danger? At least in her view, it didn't.
"I'm glad Chester insisted. Two is always better than one. Besides I was thinking about coming by to see you later, anyway."

At the nudge, he let out an "oof" and gave her a wounded look, but then he gave her a sheepish grin at her rebuttal, raising his hands in case she wanted to punch him instead .
"I know, I know. You're a big grown girl and don't need constant supervision."
He let his hands drop, a puzzled expression on his face as she continued.
"Really? What for?"

She grinned at him.
"I wanted to ask you about the time you went hunting for this." Sherry reached out for Jake's waist, her fingers brushing the dagger tucked into his sash. "I want to double check details of the place, and it's information."
She might have also wanted to know how he viewed things without her being there, but that.... she tried not to think about that too hard.

Jake gave her a puzzled look as she reached out for his dagger.
"My... artifact?"
He frowned, trying to remember.
"If I recall correctly, it was... at some sort of altar place. Or temple..."
That probably wasn't really helpful.
"Why?"

She nodded. Yes, his artifact. Yes, some kind of temple place.
"I'm hoping to find out more about artifacts, and where they come from and where they rest. The places that hold them." It probably seemed strange.

Not strange at all. The strange part would probably be that he had no recollection of having done this with Sherry, sadly.
"Really? Um, my memory is kinda foggy, but I remember... going to some other places. Some island and... a tomb? I'm sure there's plenty of places that harbour artifacts. In fact..."
He pointed at her flask.
"There's also the place where you got that?"
