Samoset post 9

Samoset moved himself closer to Aysun and Chandra as the cacophony of sounds reached his ears. His antennae began to twitch along with the vibrations and his face contorted a little, before his lips pursed into a contemplative fashion.

"Sounds like fighting..." He stated, blinking.

Kennet post 9

Kennet's reaction to the cacophony was different than Samoset's. His antennae were twitching, but his face was far more upset. Tears welled in his eyes as he curled his knees to his chest. This was not a good sound... Not a good sound... No... NO...

"What's the matter, eh?"

Kennet gazed up and leaped up into the arms of the elder man standing before him.
"Grandpa!" He cried, settling into his arms. "You came, you came! Even when daddy threatened to bop you over the head!"

The elder laughed heartily and ruffled Kennet's hair, before turning his gaze to Samoset, Chandra, and Aysun.
"Hey there, I'm Cusick!" He greeted. "Do you two have any adults around that are watching you? Can I speak with them?"

[Biroki]

Biroki tried to look brave as he was introduced as a leader, but he couldn't help flinching and looking anxiously towards the sounds of battle.
Oh zuri... great gods, Zuri...

Everything was suddenly activity, and he realized it was time to take charge. He returned to his group.
"All right." he said to the prentices, "W-we have a job to do. Lives depend on us being ready. If any of you have healing spells, let me know. We'll need to use them."

[Ikkio]

Ikkio had been hoping to just futz about on her own, but a random adult had other ideas. Apparently, kids playing off on their own during a war was not something that was smiled upon, and she was soon hustled off to the healing tents and plunked into someone's group.

She adopted a petulant pose as she looked up at Senja, glaring unhappily. "Hi." said the little girl. "I'm s'posed to help you."

Zumurundi sat nearby and watched, looking over, briefly, at the noisy fighting.

Ikkio ignored it. "Don' wanna." she said, pouting.

Finnley: post 9, Natsu, Viveka, Pahana

"Well, j-just stay with us then." Finn said kindly, even though it wasn't like the girl needed her permission to stay with them. She apparently knew Natsu and Viveka better than she did, Finnley should be asking HER if she could stay. But, afraid of rejection, she just decided to stay latched to Viveka's arm. "If they're m-making different groups we should join one of those then?" She offered as Natsu said they should find something to do.

Aysun Post 10

It was a little odd to Aysun, to have one of the two bug eyed boys suddnely turning to him, asking him if there was anything that he could do to help. Here he'd thought that both of them would leave to find that 'Pahana' person but it seemed as though at least one of them had decided to stick around. As for what the other boy was doing... well, Aysun wasn't really sure. He'd leave that one on his own for now because it meant that he and Chandra wouldn't be butting heads which wouldn't cause Aysun and Samoset to jump into the mix to defend the honor of their respective twins.

"Hmm... I'd say at the moment we are just... waiting." He told the other boy, lifting a hand up to push his white hair out of his eyes but it just fell back into place again despite the efforts. Waiting, it sucked so much! He didn't want to be waiting! He wanted to be doing something, anything, at this point so that he would have less time to think about what was going on outside of his range of sight. He was thinking on it a moment when Chandra made a suggestion, that they should go and find their Gran. She wasn't too far off, probably just inside the tent still fussing, trying to get everything 'just so'. She seemed to want to be as ready as possible for what was coming but Aysun would bet anything that she was worrying the same as he and Chandra were at this point.

"Yeah, we probably should go and..." As a man suddenly arrived before them, a tribe elder from the looks of him, and one that the bug eyed boys seemed to know. He seemed as good a distraction as any away from the mention of the sounds of fighting that were reaching them, if distantly. The man looked their way, introduced himself, and he could only stare a moment before he pushed to his feet, feeling once more that he needed to take charge, "Ahh... yes, we have our Gran." He said, turning around toward the tent, about to call for her when Zahra appeared from inside, seeming as though she were drawn to the various sounds she was hearing outside.

The Shifter woman, who looked far younger then her years rested a hand on Aysun's head to ruffle his hair, did the same for Chandra, then turned to the elder male before them, "Can I help you?" She asked in a curious manner, head tilting to one side.

Eira Post 6

Turning her attention to Borra the Ice Tribeswoman gave him a once over before she rested a hand on her hip, thinking on it for a moment, then gave a smile, "Well... I do have an idea for you, Borra. Now that I think about it Gyuri isn't the most chatty man alive, is he? Maybe it would be best if you stuck close to him? If people were in a rush about something and started to ask him a million questions things could get messy if he clams up. How about you do all the talking and let him doing the heavy lifting?" It was a perfect idea, allowing Gyuri to do what he did best, that being flexing those wonderful muscles of his. It would also keep Borra close to him where he would be the safest since he wasn't sure if he had any fighitng prowess at all. Eira knew she didn't but unlike Borra she could play the 'damsel in distress' card if the need for it arose.

"Alright! So everyone has their orders from me. I know that there will probably be other orders given out as well, those from the higher ranking people around. Keep your ears open and if anyone hears something that the rest of our troupe might have missed share the news, alright?" She said, then gave everyone a smile, "Let's... let's all be careful, alright? I don't want anyone of you getting hurt. Not even you Sinny even though I see you making faces at me over there." She told her fellow tribeswoman, giving her a wink before turning to listen to what was being said next by Antiope, thinking on it for a moment before trotting along after her and the others, wanting to listen in on what was being said. It was pointed out who the different leaders were, something Eira would deal with despite the fact that she didn't like being out of control when it came to 'her' people. Still, it was the best if it meant treating the maximum amount of patients.

Antiope trned to give orders to a group of gathered people, telling them to grab some cots and follow her, seemed like she was getting the last bit of preparation done... when suddnely there was a bit of noice that said the battle had started. A shiver went through Eira before she was hurrying over to where she'd left the others, "Seems things are underway. Let's keep close."

Gyuri Post 6

As he found Borra being asigned to him just as Sin'qua was assigned to Makani he couldn't help but to flush just a bit. He knew that what she said made sense, it would make things a whole lot easier if Borra did all the talking, but it didn't make it any less embarrassing. How he wished that he was a more chatty person so that he could talk more easily to others without help but since that wasn't the case... well, this would be a good thing. Not to mention it would help him to be closer to Borra, to keep him safe. He would much rather have him where he could see him after all, not wanting Borra to wander off.

After a moment of thought he finally realized he should say something, huh? As such he looked down at Borra and merely said, "Thanks." It shold suffice since it summed up all that he was feeling at the moment, that being so incredibly thankful for the help... well, provided of course that Borra was alright with such a job? It wasn't exactly glamourous but then again none of their jobs were. Well, save for Makani who would actually be healing people as opposed to just doing the sorts of tasks the rest of them were assigned? Still, being able to help at all was still something if you asked him.

Turning his attention to Eira he couldn't help but to feel a bit anxious as she walked way from them, a feeling that doubled when the sounds of battle were suddenly heard. He was only able to relax when she returned, stating the obvious that things were underway and that they should keep close but he could do nothing but nod. Obvious words, yes, but still something they should abide by if it meant keeping everyone safe.

Makani Post 6

Makani remained quiet for a moment, listening to what everyone around him was saying, glad when he heard Sin'qua finally agree to being his 'eyes'. He'd asked and Eira ordered, though he wasn't exactly sure which got her to agree to the idea. Better not to ask though, not wanting to ruffle any feathers. Instead he merely gave her a smile and said, "Thank you, that will help me out a lot." In so many ways he thought to himself. Both when it came to more efficiently healing as well as if the need to fight arose. He could only hope the warriors from Oba weren't the sort to try to pick off the wounded and those in charge of healing but one could never be certain.

Lifting a hand he set to fiddling with his scarf for a moment, wondering where Lusala might be in all of this. He was a merchant so surely he wasn't fighting at the moment, right? Was he in this place? Or was he perhaps somewhere getting supplies for them? He had no idea where a merchant might be in a time like this and while he was curious he felt that such questions had no place here. He had to focus on the present and those around him, he couldn't let his mind wander. Dropping his hands, clasping them before him, he set to listening more closely to the sounds around him.

There was a moment where the area around them, that just beyond the area set up for healing, seemed too quiet, painfully so... and then suddenly the sounds of battle. It was enough to cause him to give a slight jolt and a part of him wanted to reach out to grab hold of his sister but she'd moved on. Instead he found himself holding onto Sin'qua's arm for a moment while he got used to such sounds. It was like nothing he'd ever heard before and he could tell right away that it was a very bad sound. When his sister returned to them, having chased off after Antiope, she told them that things were underway and that they should stay close. They were words to live by he thought to himself before he seemed to become aware of the fact that he was holding onto Sin'qua and he finally released her, "Ahhh! Sorry!"

Senja post 8

Senja looked startled at the child that was suddenly thrust upon her. What's a kid doing here? She should be back in a village! Far away from the fighting! Senja did not think much of a parent who would bring their child so close to the war...

"Well, if you don't help me or the other healers here... you'll have to go out there and probably get killed. What are you doing here anyways? Why didn't your family leave you behind where it was safe?" Senja asked worriedly, thinking that maybe if I can scare her enough, she'll stay in the tent and not wander off and get killed..."Battlefields are no places for children...."

[Ikkio -> Senja]

Battlefields weren't places for children? "I know that!" She snapped unhappily at Senja. "Fine." she said after a moment, "Don' wanna get killed." which was true enough, "I'd get in trouble if I did." She stood on tiptoes to see what Senja was doing, and wasn't impressed. "Ikuri wanted to go help daddy. And she wouldn't let me stay." she said. It was true enough. Not that she hadn't been curious about where mommy was going, and about battles and war in general. But staying home and lounging about (mostly) unsupervised would have been nice. She neglected to mention important things like Ikkio being her twin sister. Usually, they were together, and they looked fairly similar, so that was obvious. She'd never had to really explain it before.
"Fine." she said again, "I'll help you." as if she was doing the shifter woman a huge favor. "What d'you want me to do?"

Shukri post 3

The distant sounds of fighting made Shukri tense up, he was grateful that he did not have to be out there. He did his fair share of fighting against monsters and predators thank you very much. Still, he hoped that those who fought or the united tribes fared well and not just because it impacted his future. Those who became injured in battle would be well cared for by the healers in the group.

Shukri though was in a rather unique position though as his practical and trained skills were of little use here. He was an adventurer, a retriever, trader and collector of rare and precious items. The best he could do today was carry things or mind the young ones, still, Shukri would offer what he could and follow the directions of whoever wanted to lead him.

[Dyakida and Kaalnia -> Pahana, Finnley, Natsu, Viveka -> Healing Tent]

Kaalnia brightened, her eyes alighting on a familiar face in the crowd. "Pahana!" she said, waving, "Yo, Paha!" Perfect! She and the leaf girl could lighten the mood together. "C'mon, Kida." she said, dragging the artisan along.

Dyakida let herself be dragged, deciding not to mention how utterly insensitive and annoying Kaalnia was. She could only assume that Kaalnia had found a friend in the crowd. Likely someone just as obnoxious.
Still better than stagnating in that tent though. she thought wryly.

Peyla played with her Alkidike's hair, chiming in annoyance that someone was stealing her job.

Kaalnia caught up to Pahana and her group. "Heeeey Paha, Whatcha up to?" she asked, giving Pahana a slam on the shoulders. It took her a few seconds of greeting to realize that there were other people around and she gave them a grin and a wave before turning back to Pahana.
"Heeeeey, did I tell you about that Artisan friend of mine?"

Friend was a strong word. Dyakida felt sorry for whoever Kaalnia was talking to. Even if they were as obnoxious as she, they didn't deserve to be so roughly handled in this time of stress.
"Hello." She said, "I am Dyakida." to... whoever and whatever people were around. "May I assist with something?" she hoped her politeness would be enough to counter her... bodyguard...'s annoyingness.

Sathe (Post 11)

Sathe bit at her lip when she realized that most of the people were gathering around people who looked like they obviously had more experience. Squirming in her spot, she waited to see if anyone would be joining her at all, and to her relief people were starting to come around.

As she would have expected, most were taller than her, but it didn't look like many were older than her. They all had their baby faces, and to be younger than her was a surprise. She coughed to clear her throat before starting again. "Alright then. Let's see where we can set up." She was still a few people short, but she was hoping some others would fill in the holes once Sathe started to get it together.

The groups had just formed and were preparing their stations and cots when the injured started to come back from war. Runners moved back and forth, getting those who needed help from the field and filtering them to the different tents of the camp.

There were a few who had fallen and were brought back as just a limp body, others who had no more than a few scratches, afraid for their lives and turning back before something more serious happened, and still those who were hanging on but desperately needed the attention.

The camp was bustling and getting things moving when another strange sound came from the forest. It was a large bellowing and another rumble could be felt in the ground, as soft as it was, it was plain to see that something very very very large had been introduced into the battle.

[The battle system has started. You may only post once per NPC post. Posts will be up twice a week until the end of the meta from this point on.]

Sathe (Post 12)

Sathe gathered her group and pushed them to have their stations set up. They needed to move fast, she could already see some injured starting to filter in and it was only going to pick up from here if those noises in the forest were any indicator. She grabbed up an armful of bandages and brought them over to the first person who needed help in her tent. "I'll take care of you sir." She looked down at what she was working with exactly and she needed to turn away, wanting to give herself a moment to compose before facing the stomach turning visual in front of her. This man was on the losing side of a blade and his stomach had a deep deep gash, pushing through past the muscle and to the organs.

Sathe pulled one of her older looking helpers to come aid her and returned, knowing she was going to need a lot more than some bandages for this. She gave the man herbs to dull the pain and put him to sleep before getting to work.

Pahana post 9

Pahana was about to reply to Finnley when Kaalnia and Dyakida approached. She threw her arms quickly around Kaalnia with a gasp and squeezed, before giggling.
"It's so good to see you again, Kaalnia!" She exclaimed. "How have you been? It's been ages!"

Then, her attention turned to Dyakida, her smile growing wider.
"No, you haven't!" She replied, sticking her tongue out at Kaalnia in a playful manner. "It's lovely to meet you, Dyakida! I'm Pahana."

"MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!"

Pahana let out a screeching sound as a man came barreling through the camp, carrying a severely burned woman towards the tents. The woman's pale skin was covered in blisters, black and red, and her nose appeared beaten in, all of which could be seen in less than a flash as the man came racing through. The dancer stood still, stunned by the state of the woman and the man carrying her through, and grabbed at the side of her head.

"OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE HER?!" She screamed. "SHE WAS CHARRED! LIKE A LOG!"

Natsu post 10

Natsu's arms fell to his side as the man passed him, his eyes lingering on the woman's blackened hair as the vanished behind the tent flaps. He took a breath and tried his best to hold back a gasp of his own, as yet another runner was coming back with another fallen fighter. The bard left the others and jogged towards where the man was standing, obviously having quite a hard time carrying the fighter whom he had taken from the field. and took the fighter's other arm.

"Come on, this way, just a little further!" He exclaimed, minding the fighter's overwhelming stab wounds. "Open up the tent for us, Viveka!"

Viveka post 10

Viveka, having been frozen by the sight of the woman before, seemed to snap out of shock when Natsu called to him. He left Finnley's side, though unwillingly, and raced to part the flaps of a nearby tent. He held them open for as long as it took for Natsu to get the pair of men inside and settled, before letting one side go to point out towards the end of the field.

"There are more coming! And it looks like more burn victims!" He cried. "Finnley! Help those people carry the other victims inside! And maybe move Pahana somewhere else until she calms down!"

Samoset post 10

The elder opened his mouth to reply to the woman who had addressed him, only to pause sharply when a voice screamed from the other side of the camp.

"OH MY GOD DID YOU SEE HER?! SHE WAS CHARRED! LIKE A LOG!"

"Pahana! Keep yourself calm!" He shouted, heaving a sigh. He set Kennet down beside his brother and offered them an apologetic face. "I'm sorry boys, I need to go make sure your aunt keeps her head on straight. I'll be gone just a moment!"

And, as quickly as he had come, he was gone, racing off towards the other side of the camp. Samoset paused, visibly confused, and pointed towards the runners as they came through the trees.

"Looks like someone forgot how to light a fire..." He muttered.

Kennet post 10

Kennet leaped to his feet as soon as he had been placed down and wandered after his grandfather, only to become just as frozen as his brother at the sight of the runners. He grabbed his arm, bit his lip, and sat down right where he could see them.

"I hope daddy doesn't come back like that, Sam." He said, nodding solemnly.

Finnley: post 10

Finnley smiled politely as the other girl, Pahana, got distracted with other people she knew. She gave a slight smile to the others, at least this war was good for some things if only to say good bye to people you haven't seen in a while. But that was when all the s**t hit the fan. It started by one person, badly burned, entering the camp. And then they all started flooding in. Finn's eyes were as big as Paha's shout had been loud. This was so scary. "I-uh, Pahana, we-we need to move out of the way." She took the girl's hand and pulled her out of the road, behind one of the tents to a relatively quiet spot. "I-I'm going to go see if Natsu and Viveka need help. Ma-maybe see if there are any younglings about and tr-try to keep them from seeing this horrid-ness?" She stammered every time she tried to speak, and her hands were shaking, but she had to do SOMETHING. These people were hurt, and she was here safe thanks to them. She went into the tent that Natsu and Viveka went in. "Wh-what do you need?" She asked.
