He wished he wasn't trembling. He wished he was stronger, so he could be her rock. She was the one dying. She needed him to be strong and he was supposed to be comforting her. But bless her heart, she held him so tight, and felt so badly that he was so sad. But when he was with her he had the courage to break. She was a safe place where he could break down.
He never had to chase her, never had to prove himself or try to find her. They were open with each other, shared their feelings. It truly was a partnership that worked. Even if he never found it again, he got to have it here and now. He'd remember, and he'd cherish the rare chance he felt so loved like he did with her.
Otto held her just as tightly, burying his face in the crook of her neck. He took in her scent, her sweet voice, and her embrace. She loved him. It broke his heart and mended in repeat. There was no one else like her. No one he felt so one with. A kindred spirit. A soul mate.
"I'm glad you told me.." He managed to murmur, "If you hadn't then I would've wondered...."
He sniffled, taking in a breath. "I'm pretty sure I love you just as much. The way you make me feel just doesn't compare to anyone I've ever met."

"Wouldn't want that you know..." She gave a sort of watery laugh, "I never wanted you to see anything but me Otto."
She didn't want to justify feelings with him, she didn't want to explain that Tuck had been a good friend, and that she had wanted to try with him...or that Chelsea was just the conflict of ideas. Nevada wanted Otto and was too much for settling with Chelsea, hurting the girl in the process.
These things weren't as heavy as the weight she bore now.
"Oh...Oh well..." She defenitly was at a loss now, She had found the one thing on the Island she didn't have, but it was too little too late. She gave another watery chuckle and brought her hand to his, lacing it together with Otto's.
"Oh..." the smile grew softer and she rested her head on his shoulder. "This is what it's like....this is what I was searching for the whole time..." She closed her eye. "I found it."

His fingers threaded through hers, his gaze resting on the difference between their hands. There was nothing he could say to that. Nevada had found what she wanted, just as he did. But the price had been her life. Would they have come to be if she hadn't? Couldn't there have been a world where she didn't have to die in order to share happiness together? Why was it like this? He'd taken a wrong turn, leading to this moment. Long ago, when he should have chosen her and didn't. Maybe this was like the red string of fate he heard about. No matter what, they would find each other. The tragedy of it was, he'd chosen a path that made sure their relationship was brief and painful.
He couldn't say sorry. He'd already done that. He couldn't add more regrets.
Otto wouldn't pretend things were okay anymore, and he would never ask her to pretend to be happy when they were not. They would be honest, as always. Cry when they were sad, yell if they were angry. Share every emotion they had, as their own.
"I'll be here with you." he murmured softly, "Every moment you need me. I'm not going anywhere.." Even if you are.

They did what they did best.
They were honest and in the end, she accepted too, that nothing would be normal anymore. Nothing would be the same. She wasn't the same anymore.
She soaked in the words and let them stay there. Let them shelter her now, let them comfort now.
"I love you Otto..." She said again, kissing his lips gently. "I need you, don't leave me yet, Don't leave me." She curled around him as much as she could, did as much as she could.
Like the dance, like his drum playing. She felt alive now, she'd take advantage of it the best way she could. By immersing herself in what she loved the most. Otto.

"I love you.." He murmured back softly against her lips. "I won't leave you. Never.."
The only one leaving would be here, after all..
