"Okay," said Haradrin, his smile still wide.
Alan shoved Haradrin goodnaturedly and Haradrin barely wobbled. "Haradrin does what you ask him to," he explained. "Show us what you're making, Haradrin," he asked.
Haradrin wandered, seemingly by accident, back into the sooty room. Eerinna had opened the window to let some smoke out. Haradrin had a worktable to himself where he had an array of threads and wires, beads and tweezers. Haradrin picked up something finished and shower them. It looked like a sturdy pouch on a necklace with a clip.
"It goes here," he said, pointing to his arm, but the band was much larger than would fit there.
"Oh," said Alan admiringky. He loved the shiny buckled. "That's nice. Handy, too, if you're flying."
"Yes,' said Haradrin.

Cupid trotted after Alan and Haradrin, looking around the work room that had only recently been through the explosion. The soot was everywhere and he wriggled his nose to stop himself from sneezing as he watched what Haradrin was grabbing.
The bag he held up was very well done, and he could see the usefulness of it. "That's really cool, Haradrin. But isn't it a little large to fit on your leg? I suppose it would work on an adult pony, but it looks so big," he said. He tipped his head, ears swiveling slightly as he peered closer at the bag. "It's still really nice. Do you make stuff like this a lot?" he asked, looking back up.

"Mum is an adult," said haradrin, agreeing.
Alan took it from Haradrin's limp claws, admiring the shiny clips. "I think she'll like it," he said enviously. "I think it would be hard to get things if you were flying," he said to Cupid.
"I make things," said Haradrin. "I help with things."
There was an irritated step behind them. "What are you doing to my brother?" snapped Caster. "Leave him alone if he doesn't want to talk to you busybodies!" He put himself between Alan and Haradrin. It looked odd, a fairy defending a larger black dragon with leathery wings, fangs and claws. He snatched the bag back from Alan and handed it to Haradrin gently. "Go and ask Aunty if she has any wrapping paper for it," he said to Haradrin. "So it's a proper present."
Haradrin, disquieted by the noise and anger, was relieved by his brother's tone and wobbled over to Eerinna, his claws scraping on the floor.
"We weren't doing nothing!" said Alan angrily.
Caster looked at them extremely dirtily and swept a cloth other the work bench. "You think you can come and stare at a dragon, just because he's different and small now," he spat. "He'll be big soon, and you'll be sorry!"
Alan shifted his feet. That had been what they had come for. "Well..." it wasn't in Alan's nature to lie. "I just met this guy, this Cupid guy," he began, "and he didn't know lots of ponies."
Caster looked at them both, scanning for falsehood. Not finding any, and maybe mollified by the guilty look on Alan's face, he stuck out his front hoof to Cupid. "Name's Caster. I'm Haradrin's big brother. I have a sister and five other brothers, they're wandering around here. Aunty is teaching me magic."
"It's not working, though," said Alan conversationally.
Caster bridled, then subsided. "No, it's not."

Cupid wasn't entirely sure what to do with himself when Caster came up and snapped at them for talking to Haradrin. His eyes snapped back against his head and he ducked slightly, looking up at him with wide eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean any harm I was just trying to be nice and make conversation," he said softly.
He risked a glance at Alan as the colt explained the situation and he lightly scuffed a hoof on the ground as he explained that Cupid didn't know a lot of ponies. It was true considering he didn't even know his own parents. But ah well, that would do for another time. His eyes flickered back over to Caster as he spoke, looking at his hoof for a moment before he moved to shake his hoof gently.
"It's nice to meet you Caster," he said, looking over the pony to see if he was still angry at him and Alan. He didn't really like others being mad at him, it made him feel rather distressed. For now though he couldn't see any of the signs of him being angry though. He tipped his head slightly as he took in how big Caster's family was, smiling lightly. "It must be nice to have such a large family and have someone to teach you how to use your gift," he said conversationally, choosing not to notice that Caster bridled from the comment about the magic issues.

Caster scrubbed his mane out of his eyes. "All i end up with is making roses, even when I don't want," he said bitterly. He looked at them both seriously. "Look, guys, just leave my brother alone, okay? He's not good at looking out for himself. He's happy enough if you just say hi."
Haradrin himself was smiling sweetly up at Eerinna as she helped him wrap the puch he made for his mother.
"I can do that," said Alan. "I don't mean to upset him." he thought it was good of a fairy to protect a kinder dragon and he wondered if it was to stop Haradrin turning out like Caster.
"Eerinna is a princess," explained Caster to Cupid. "She's got royal magic, not quite the same as mine, but she can help me. She's very good at magic. My magic is fairy magic and hers is goblin."

He nodded slightly, planning to do exactly as Caster said for that. He would say hello to Haradrin and nothing more in order to avoid the wrath of his elder brother and to stop from potentially harming the dragon. He perked up slightly though as it was explained that Eerinna was a princess, that was quite interesting. And then there were different types of magic as well, how very interesting. "So... what's the difference between the two types of magic?" he asked. knowing positively nothing about the subject.

"Weeeell," said Caster hesitantly. "They're better at different things. Like different brands of the same kind of cereal. Goblin magic is better at tricksy things, but Eerinna's not a tricksy person, she's the best," he glanced at Eerinna covetously. "And fairy magic is... better at blessing things, making things grow, healing people. There's some overlap, though, so we're trying..."
Alan nodded and cast his eyes around, pretty bored now that he wasn't outside.

Cupid's eyes widened in understanding as the magic was explained to him. "Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining it! It's cool that that is your talent, I work better with emotions than with any other thing like real magic," he said with a broad smile. He dipped his head slightly, another way of thanking Caster for putting up with him and his questions. His attention turned to Alan as he picked up on him being bored and he smiled in mild amusement. "Do you wanna go back outside and play, Alan?" he questioned, cocking his head to the side slightly.

Alan coughed. "Yeah, alright. Want to come, Caster?"
Caster shook his head. "I want to wake up tomorrow and not be covered in roses while I sleep," he said, sighing. "I had better stay here and work. You might see Royal around, I saw him this morning."
"Cool," said Alan reluctantly. Royal was sometimes mopey. "Bye, Aunty!" he called.
Eerinna looked up and smiled warmly. "Goodbye, boys!"
Alan lead the way back out of the ice palace.

Cupid smiled lightly, trotting out after Alan after waving his hoof in farewell. They were a lovely family and he could tell that they cared for each other. "Your family is nice, Alan," he said, looking over at him. "Caster is a good big brother to Haradrin." He grinned, exiting the doors and looking around. "What do you like to play?" he asked, changing the topic easily as he swung around to look at the pony.

Alan nodded. "Caster is the oldest, I think, out of the seven. My mother lives in an eyrie up in the mountain, further up," he pointed. "This is Eerinna's palace, built by Zared after he got permission from the big scary green dragon lady. We live near their homes but further down." ALan smiled. "It's like living in a giant building! Except no elevators."
Alan scuffed some rocks under his feet. "Dunno. I usually play alone. What do you play?"

Cupid hummed lightly, nodding his head. "That's pretty cool, though it might be enhanced with elevators," he said with a grin. "All those stairs could get awfully tiring." He skipped forward for a moment, looking around him with bright eyes before looking back over to Alan. "You play all alone? That can't be any fun. Well I suppose it could be, but it would be lonely. I typically play hide and seek or tag with the other kids in town," he said calmly.

Alan's mouth twisted ruefully. "No stairs, either..."
He began walking down the path that lead to the foot of the mountain. "We could try and find some other ponies to play with... is that the game? Try and find, like hide and seek? Who is hiding?"
