Becka had been busy trying not to draw attention to herself, she didn't really want to bother with the dancing. She'd decided to get herself some water too since the wine she'd had to celebrate had made her a little bit woozy and she wanted rid of that feeling. She didn't really like it and she knew now why it was banned in Weyrlings just Impressed, it confused HER let alone a dragon that was barely out of the shell.

She was lost in thought when a pair of smallish arms wrapped around her she she looked down to see .. Ionan, T'rels little brother and by the grip he had of her he'd been scared. "Ionan! What are you doing here?" she asked, putting her own arms around him. Then he spoke up "D...dance? Ionan Perhaps we'd better look for Cesa first? She's probably going to be worried that you're not there" she said gently, glancing up to see if she could spot the youngster's babysitter.

The day wore on and the warmth of the day faded with the light. Having accompanied his companions throughout the day, the ex-merchant was quite looking forward to the evening festivities. There was music, dancing, and maybe he’d have a pleasant little meal some time before retiring for the night. He had excused himself for a few moments to check in with Kosth. She had relaxed a good bit from their arrival. Having checked in with his partner, T’anis returned to the Gather proper. He was a man on a mission. There was a gorgeous young lady that he had a need to show around the dance floor a time or two.

Making his way into the throng, he narrowed his eyes as he scanned the crowd. Spying the lady in question, a little grin tugged at his the corners of his lips. Ducking his head down as if to sneak more effectively through the crowd, the greenrider bobbed and weaved between people and dancers, skirting further into crowds if he could manage the feat. He wanted to surprise her, or at least try to. As he grew closer, he straightened to his full height and slowed his pace. When he was within arm’s reach, T’anis reached out to slide his arms around Ashlyn’s waist. Closing the last little space between, he spoke quietly enough for her to hear. “Ashlyn, I-I do bel-lieve I owe you at l-least a few dances. M-might the m-most st-stunning lass here do m-me the honor of th-that?”

Ashlyn

Ashlyn had made her dragon stay outside, much to the protests of her blue dragon. He complained that he could not protect her from bad things from outside, but she assured him she would be fine and he would know the minute she needed him. Then once she had done that, she had stood just outside the dance floor, swaying gently to the music. She had been so lost in the music, she gasped in surprise when T'anis wrapped an arm around her middle. She blushed lightly when she heard his voice and she could have melted right there in his arms.

"Umm...yes..I would like that dance. I would..be..ummm...honored to dance with you, T'anis..if you want me..I mean want to dance with me,"Ashlyn replied, stumbling over her words.

Two years ago K'tai's presence at a Gather would have been a strained and stressful experience. He would have found himself lingering at the very edges of the grounds, green eyes gazing outward from behind slipping spectacles. Time changes everyone, though. Of course, he was still a generally quiet person -- but the natural inclination to be riddled with social anxiety had someone soothed itself over time.

Or... maybe it had been the two years he had been with Kamuyth that had changed him for the better. The brunette gave a hearty pat on the blue's front leg, looking up at him with a grin. "One more gather to live through!" He laughed, slipping his hands in his pockets and trudged off into the crowd looking for anyone interesting to talk to.

The owl-like blue had long since accepted these noisy events as something his rider could not escape and chose to lounge quietly about fifty feet away from the gather, his seemingly ever crimson gaze filtering through the crowd. "Perhaps someday I'll find personal enjoyment out of this rabble. Today.... is not that day."

After making sure Lute was safe and comfortable, T'rel made his way towards the dance square. He wanted to snag something for Lute and surprise her when he returned. He had never been one to pinch marks, and didn't think he would ever learn to do so. There was a baby on its way: and he was determined to spoil it!

Instead of spoiling, however, he heard his brother's voice. He glanced around, spotting Becka. Ah, so Ionan was asking Becka to dance! Though, something in the boy's tone made him turn and face his healer friend. "Is everything alright?" He asked. The question was directed at Becka: he was used to Ionan's harper tales. Surely the boy would come up with some grand tale about how a sea dragon had snatched him up from the gather, and he'd only just now escaed.

"I got lost!" Ionan replied, frowning slightly. "Becka won't dance with me till we tell Cesa where I am. So can you have Harper take her a message? I really didn't mean to. I saw a dress Iona might like, though! All green and beautiful! Like Hisith!"

T'rel ruffled his younger sibling's hair. "You go dance then. I'll send a message. Thank you, Becka, for finding him." He smiled at her gratefully. "Save a dance for me!"

((Something to make Revel smile. <3 I wasn't going to have T'rel in this threa, originally, but making people smile is always my goal.))

R'mera scowled while near the crowd. The dark haired rider watched his sister out of the corner of his eye while staying away from others. It seemed that being scoial was not something either brother nor sister understood or were good at. Even after turns of being a rider and in the weyr, the blue rider still preferred his own company to others. Though he noticed that Kaila was becoming more social even if she was still shy. He himself kept from the other riders and even others of the weyr.

He was still a bit protective of her, but because of how he reacted when she had impressed and became, Kaila avoided him like he was thread itself. He shook his head at that thought. He understood now that she was a great rider and was a very good healer. R'mera was annoyed at the sight of his sister near males, but stayed to the edges of the crowd.

Kaimi felt as if she was coming to the gather terribly late. But as the day wore on, the best part was just getting started in earnest. While she did love to shop and spoil herself on pretty little baubles, and while she adored eating all of the delicious offerings that one could only get at a gather, there was something so much more entertaining and enjoyable than either of these things: The music and the dancing! Her dark skin glowed against the deep red dress she wore, wrapped at the waist with a large decoratively tooled leather belt in which she had tucked her favorite set of pipes. She was uncertain whether she would end up playing on the stage or just dancing the night away, but she had come prepared.

Tucking her hair behind her ears, she waved and smiled at every familiar face as she made her way towards the dance floor. Her hips already swayed as if she had a partner and was gliding along to the music. The young journeyman harper paused, though, when she came to the area where couples spun around to the music. She watched in appreciation, a broad smile on her face, enjoying the fresh air and vicariously delighting in other people's fun.

J'nes turned when he heard someone call his name, and quickly spotted Joleen as she wove through the crowd. "There you are!" he said as she reached him. "I packed up my stall for the night. At this point more people will be eating and dancing than shopping anyway." For the rest of her questions, he shrugged. "I could eat, or I could dance. Whichever you like. And if you want to dance I'll have to hope my shoes ate sturdy enough to protect my toes," he added with a grin.

Becka looked up at the sound of T'rel's voice. "Oh yeah, he just wandered away from Cesa, easy for a kid to get lost when it's this busy" she said, smiling brightly. "But no, i won't dance until Cesa knows he's fine" She looked down at Ionan with a grin "She must be worried sick, you really shouldn't wander off, even if it is to look for nice things for someone else" she chuckled, not really able to tell the boy off, he'd been scared, she knew that much from the way he'd clung to her, though he'd obviously tried to pretend he wasn't. The Weyr was a big place, so easy to lose track of someone who wandered off, she couldn't fault Cesa.

"Oh what a good idea sending Harper!" she said to Ionan, smiling widely. "You're welcome T'rel,i wasn't about to let him run around by himself" she frowned slightly "As for dancing, that depends on Ionan" she chuckled at the bronze rider.

L'den was always rather fashionably late to social gatherings, and tonight was no exception. His long strides ate up the distance to the Gather, though little Lila would never have been able to keep up. Instead, she rode happily on her daddy's shoulders, giggling and tugging his hair out of its loose pony tail as she pointed at this shiny thing here, or that toy over there.

The harpers struck up a lively tune as L'den wove his way through the stalls, some of which were closing up. He'd been pretty busy lately, and hadn't had much time for social lingering, and besides, Jailla had always been rather the jealous type, though forbid him if he ever mentioned it! Still, he had thought it would be a great opportunity to take Lila out for some daddy-daughter time. Raising their children instead of letting them become the general weyr's responsibility hadn't been a popular decision, and it certainly hadn't been easy, so L'den always felt he had to try and make up for lost time. He was only thankful that Oveth loved children in general so much, and the twins in particular.

"Dance, daddy, dance!" Lila exclaimed, locks of his hair grasped in each fist as she shook her hands up and down in excitement. L'den's grin had a bit of pain to it as he extricated his hair from her tiny fists and lifted her down off his shoulders, holding her hand securely as he walked them much more slowly over to the dance floor. With the lack of inhibition so treasured in childhood, little Lila began to dance her little heart out, dragging L'den out onto the dance floor. He flushed a bit, always conscious of his public image, but his little girl's smile soon had him not caring what others thought and dancing in the weirdest, wackiest ways he could, delighting in every rewarding giggle. He wasn't quite paying attention and knocked into someone, creating a wealth of giggles from Lila.

"Oh, so sorry," he offered immediately, the words out of his mouth before he could even see who he had bumped in to.

"Let's dance!" Happy to be given the choice, Joleen beamed at her dance partner. Shards, had it really been a turn since she'd first seen him? She'd found him attractive then, too. She took his hand, leading him to the center of the crowd. For all her teasing, Joleen wasn't a terrible dancer.

"I'm sure your boots will spare your feet," she said, grinning. "Go on, you lead. Let me see if you're as good a dancer as you are charmer. Charming unsuspecting customers..." she laughed, shaking her head. Maybe not unsuspecting: but he'd certainly charmed her!

F'nbar took her hand and lead her into the dance circle. Fortunately, there were plenty of other couples heading there as well. "You'll do fine." he told her. "A dance is no harder than a conversation. You just have to listen to the other person and respond." he said, raising her arm to lead her into a twirl. In fact, it was something he was often better at than actually conversation.

Meanwhile, P'lias had finally made his way over to Iona, dragging his feet anxiously. "Hey! Iona!" he called to her waving. "Uh.. I'm glad I.. ran in to you. There's something I wanted to ask you."

((Sorry so short, RL is crushing me under a pile of lesson plans and job applications. I'll try harder next time, I promise v.v ))

Kaila smiled nervously at F'nbar's words. She wasn't much good at conversations either, but she decided she would do her best. She laughed as he led her into a twirl, smiling brighter. Perhaps Maith was right, she should try to attend gathers more when they were held.

R'mera had been listening to the music a bit, coming closer to the dance floor when he felt someone bump into him. A moment later he blinked, hearing the person speak. His brown eyes glanced at the man and he kept his face pleasant. "It's all right," he said trying to keep his tone warm. Lately it was a bit of a task to not be too cold towards others. He found it made making friends around the weyr hard, not that he had really cared to have friends.

Since it seems we both don't have anyone interacting with our people yet lol

Now that her thirst was satisfied she spun to go back towards the rest of the harpers who were playing and she felt herself collide into someone, though not very hard, but it still threw her off balance and she felt herself grab onto the closest thing she could. His left shoulder and arm. "Oh Shards!" The words flew out of her mouth before she could stop them and she quickly regained her composure and let go of the person before her. She pulled her hair out of her face and that left her looking at the rider before her. Well wasn't this embarrassing.

"I should pay attention better. Sorry for grabbing you like that, I didn't really have anything else to catch myself on." She gave him a half smile and averted her attention to her hands for a moment and twiddled them together before looking back at him. She wasn't good with interacting with people. And this just made it even more awkward in a way. She had just basically tripped over him. Which was probably 90% her fault and possibly 10% his since he hadn't seen her in time to move out of her way. But she wasn't going to say that. She was learning to not speak her mind so much and if she did she was trying to be a bit more polite about it.

Finally. The food was prepared. The drinks were flowing. The harpers had been wrangled and Tiry was down for her nap. At last Ticene could actually stop and breath a moment. Or she could have if it weren't for the fact that now she had to now make herself look presentable and put in an appearance as the ever composed Weyrwoman. At times like this Tic didn't get to just go and collapse in her weyr after a day or organising and running around. It seemed no matter how many gathers they held, no matter how many methods they tried, things would never go as she and the Headwoman planned. Still, things had been handled now and the final activity had been executed. As long as nothing caught on fire and the stage didn't collapse she shouldn't be called upon for the rest of the evening.

It had been wool trousers and a loose tunic all day to accommodate her running about and getting filthy sorting things out, but now that had been shed, the rider had scrubbed herself up and had a change in appearance. The light dress was a rich orange, Ticene always made a point to wear Ista's main colour at official functions and fortunately her rank allowed her to know people that could actually make orange look good. The dress seemed to be based on a sunset, the colours dark and intense at the top at lightening towards the sleeves. Unlike the last few gathers Ticene was in the mood to show off her figure, so the outfit cinched in at the waist. Now all that pesky baby weight had so kindly shifted from her frame.

She drifted through the crowded area, skirting around the dance area. Ever so often she would pause to smile politely and exchange pleasant conversation with a passerby, it was important that everyone was enjoying themselves. Her weyrmate should be around here somewhere. The rascal had managed to sneak off from the jobs that she had set him. The idea brought a smile to her lips, he might be able to organise the Weyr's military side, but put him in the domestic and the bronzerider had more than a few stumbles. Still, she would probably be the same if placed in his job all of a sudden. ...Well, maybe. Hopefully she would be able to find the man at some point.
