Rose Knight was filled to the brim with excitement when she strolled into the lovey dovey room. The pretty mare was normally too busy to mingle with the phonies of this charming town. For some reason, between studying and field training, she found it difficult to wiggle in meet and greets. But today she shut her latest book, locked the gates to the field, and officially declared it break time.
Now decked out in her prettiest attire, she was left scanning the room at a true lost of what to do and who to approach. Normally a confident mare, Rose Knight was left quietly pondering in her seat. Who knew meeting new folks could be so daunting? Perhaps she wasn't quite ready for this kind of battle...
What do you fight for and why? Truth, love, and justice! I want to protect the ones I love and lend a helpful hoof to those in need.
Where is your favorite place in Phony Land? Still rather new to the area I'd love to know new places to visit! Right now I particularly enjoy the Library and the wide open grassy plains.

Honeysuckle
Candy's first partner was a very handsome stallion. She marveled at his long, glorious mane, and almost missed the first question he asked. “Oh I'm sorry!” she said, blushing.
What is your favorite flower? “I like daisies the best. They can come in all sorts of colors, and they look great in almost any arrangement of fruit!
How would you make love grow? “Well it needs a lot of attention, and plenty of sugar! Lots of time in the kitchen, making things together!”
What is your dream romantic evening?? Candy thought hard about this one. “I think it would be a quiet evening at home. Dinner for two, a nice fire and maybe a movie. Doesn't even have to be a romantic movie. Just one that you can lean on the other phony to.” ~~~
Poet Lariat
The next stallion looked...well like the color opposite of her friend C.C. She wondered if they were related. If you were in a play, what character would you be cast as? “Well, I don't know many plays, but I think I would like to be the comic relief character if there was one in the line up. I do like making people laugh.”
Do you enjoy dark places where words of wisdom, passion, and soul are spoken? “Dark places? You mean like nighttime? I do like the night, but I prefer the daytime more because you can see how pretty all the flowers are!”
Where would you have an after party to celebrate a great performance? “Well my half-brother Draft's club is pretty awesome. I think I would like to have a party there sometime!” ~~~
Macarena
Candy recognized the phony before her as one she had met before. If she remembered right, he was very suggestive. The mare took a deep breath.
Do you have the moves to shake my maraca? “If you mean if I can sing, I'm afraid not well. And I don't play any instruments...”
What kind of musica makes you shake your Bon Bon? She blushed, and said “Whatever my half-brother is usually playing at his club.”
Since size don't matter, after all it's the motion of the ocean, how could I make it a big night for you? Candy's blush deepened, and her mouth clamped shut. How was she supposed to answer that!? She stammered something about having to cut the date short to “powder her nose” before rushing towards the bathroom with her heart hammering. Is this what her night was going to be full of!?

When she returned after carefully counting the minutes, she found herself in front of a stallion with many colors in his mane. She wondered if they were dyed or natural. His glasses were absolutely adorable though!
What's your favorite constellation and why? “I like the Big Dipper. Think of the cookie you could dip into it!
What do you see when you stare into the night sky? “I see stars. Granted, very lovely stars. And they make lovely patterns in the sky.”
Who's your favorite Starfleet captain? Candy paused and said sheepishly “I'm sorry, I don't know any Starfleet captains...”

When Candy go to Boho, she collapsed into the seat. “Oh Boho.” she said, covering her eyes with her hooves. “I think I'm making an absolute FOOL of myself! And you should have heard what the purple stallion said to me!” She blushed beneath her hooves again just thinking about it. She finally lowered them to look at Boho. “How are your dates going? Meet anyphony special yet?” ~~~
Wilma
Her next date was....something? She wasn't quite sure. What's your favorite cocktail? A normal question! Thank goodness! “I'm partial to whiskey sours myself, though a good vodka cranberry is also nice.”
What's your favorite... euphemism. You know. Euphemism. Oh lord, again!? Candy coughed, and said “Well...I don't really know any....” Not any she would say to a complete stranger anyway!
What's your favorite animal? ...her questions were all over the place! “I like panda bears. I think they are lovely.”

A mare. A normal looking mare. Candy rushed to the seat, sighing. This night was beginning to wear on her.
What's your favorite school of martial arts? “Like a specific school, or type of martial arts? Um....I like yoga. Does that count?”
How do you unwind after an eventful day? Candy smiled. “I like to lay on my couch and read a book. Usually a terrible, mind rotting book. It's one of my guilty pleasures.”
What's your favorite kind of smoothie? “I love pineapple! So really, anything with that, though I know that cherries, banana, apple and orange go well with it. I suppose kiwi could too, but that's almost too much acid. I've never had one, but I think a peanut butter smoothie would be delightful! Like a drinkable sandwich!”
She left that date feeling better. Her answers didn't seem forced, and the questions were normal and easy. Her second wind of energy! ~~~
Cherpumple
This stallion looked...familiar. Candy couldn't place it, but she felt as if she had seen him before.... At least he certainly looked cheery! And at his first question, she grinned. This was going to be fun!
Cake or pie? “Oh you're going to make me choose? Well darn....Cake is fluffy and you can add frosting, plus mix different colors and flavors of batter...but pies have fruit, and I am very partial to fruit...and the dough is a lot of fun to make....oh dear.” She tapped her hooves on the table, not wanting to say the wrong answer. “Can...can I pick cheesecake? I think key lime cheesecake is probably one of my most favorite things.”
If you were a candle, what would your scent be? “I think....I'd like to be a mixture of a flower and a food. Like, chocolate roses! That would be a good mix!”
Do you prefer jam or preserves? “I personally prefer preserves. They bake better, and the seeds add a little crunch to the cookies I put it into. It also doesn't get overly sweet when caramelized.”
Her spirits were lifted considerably after that date. Those were questions she could answer with no problem! She waved to Cherpumple before going to her next date. ~~
Roc N' Rolls
The next stallion looked....kindof like the stallion she just left as far as body type. She couldn't really see his eyes, but she didn't mind. Maybe they were a funny color or something.
What's your MOST favorite music genre? “You're going to think I am horrible for this, but dance music. I spend so much time in my kitchen, I need something to break the monotony. And nothing does like a dance number!”
If you could hear only one song for the rest of your life over and over, what song would it be? “Oh my....I'm not sure I could pick. I mean, eventually I would get tired of hearing it over and over right? I think I'd rather hear the music of nature instead forever.”
Do you dig dudes with long hair? Candy eyed his hair, and smiled “Why yes I actually do! I think long manes are nice because I could never have one! My curls would be out of control!” She touched her mane, laughing. “Your mane is really neat looking!”

Another phony with long hair! It's like they all came out just for her!
Do you prefer seed birds or birds of prey? Birds? Well ok! “I like seed birds better. They seem nicer and like to visit me when I'm making poppyseed muffins.”
Do you prefer bright feathers or shiny baubles when making a dance floor intended for attracting a mate? Candy blinked. W-what? What on earth? Making a dance floor? Candy was silent for a minute, then ventured an answer. “I guess I would say bright feathers. I'm not really sure what baubles are...”
If you were an egg layer, what would your eggshells look like? Ok, now this was just getting strange. But questions were questions! “Probably pink, just like my mane.”

Candy was starting a feel a little tired, but there was still a whole lot of phonies to get through. The next stallion had quite the cheekbones. He was quite handsome!
What's your ideal way to spend a night out on the town? “I like to go out to Draft's club, have a few drinks, dance the night away. Maybe play some pool if I am feeling lucky enough.” She thought back to her last attempt to play pool and giggled.
What's the name of your favorite drink? (Alcoholic or non) “I definitely like whiskey sours. They have just enough sweet with a good kick in the stomach to remind you that you're drinking something you should only have a couple of.”
What's your opinion of dating somebody with baggage from a previous relationship? (Turn off or Turn on?) She wondered what kind of baggage he had. “I don't think it's a turn on or turn off for me. I understand that some phonies have that kind of thing, and as long as it doesn't completely overtake the relationship, I think it's fine.”

This stallion had an eyepatch! Candy immediately thought about her encounters with other pirate phonies, and figured this must be another one of the siblings. How do you feel about pirates? “I like pirates! Met a few myself. Went on a couple treasure hunts with them! It was a good time!”
Do you like the ocean? “I like the ocean, but I've never been on a boat. It's defintely something I want to do though!
Aye? “...Aye. Oh! Is that a pirate thing Like grog? Treasure Hunter wanted grog from my shop once!” ~~
Nocturne
Candy was surprised once again by the mare in front of her. She had what looked to be bat wings, and the reddest eyes she had ever seen. There was something..alluring about those eyes. Wait, were those claws on the ends of her wings!?
How do you feel about dance? “Dancing is great! I like to take time off work and go dancing.”
What makes you feel centered? “Baking. When I am in the kitchen, I know I am in complete control, and I have everything I need in my grasp. Most recipes I have done enough times that I could probably do them without thinking once!”
Are you a fleeting or forever kinda phony? “I'd like to say that I am a forever type of phony, but I've never really been in a relationship before, so I haven't gotten to test that theory yet.”
~~ The next table had a rather...small phony siting at it. Candy slapped her forehead with her hoof. “TART!? What are you doing here? You aren't old enough to be dating!”
She wondered what her mother and father would say, and immediately decided not to tell them. Their mom wouldn't really understand and TACO...well, he would probably encourage her!
She Candy sat across from her sibling (Am I the older sister because I grew up first? Or did she come out first and is still older despite still being a filly?) and sighed.
“Well, any prospects for you?”

Another mare greeted her next. She was wearing a lovely shade of eyeshadow, and Candy wondered if she could pull off makeup.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why? “Any superpower you say? Teleportation would make the most sense to me. Then I could get my ingredients from market in record time!”
DC or Marvel? “Uhm, I think I like Marvel better. But I don't know much about either.”
Whose your favorite superhero (or villain)? “I like Captain America from the few that I know! He is one of the first superheroes EVER and he doesn't use magic or anything to fight. Just his fists.”

She immediately liked the next partner's hat. She couldn't really wear hats, and was always impressed when another phony could pull it of!
What's your favorite section of the news paper? “I like the recipe column! Most of the dinner stuff I can't really make, but the baked goods are ones that I'll almost always give a go at.”
Printed news or digitally released news? “I like printed news better, mostly because I'm pretty clumsy when in comes to technology. I have a tendency to drop things like that you see. And the buttons are hard to push with my hooves.”
What is your idea of fun? “Fun can really mean almost anything to me. Going out and drinking, staying in and chatting, baking..there are so many things that I find fun!”

Sweet Bread
Candy recognized Sweet Bread as Rosewrite's and Chocolate Orchid's mother. Not because she knew Sweet personally, but with her colors and delightfully long mane, how could she not be related to them in some way? It felt a little strange being on a speed date with a friend's parent, but it was all in fun right?
If I could make you the perfect sandwich bread what would you put in it? “Can I grill my sandwich? Because if I can I am definitely doing cream cheese, powdered sugar and strawberries. It's like a grilled french toast!”
What is your ideal date night? “I like nights that don't have to have a bunch of special events. Those are nice every once in a while, but a simple walk, or dinner at home is totally fine with me!”
What do you look for in a significant other? This one was hard for her to answer. She hadn't given it a whole lot of thought (one of the reasons she was still single no doubt), so she took her time in answering. “I like knowing that someone will always be there for me. I don't mean that in a physical sense. If they are away, I like knowing that I'll get a phone call, or a letter saying that they miss me. I guess a sturdy rock I can hang on to is ideal for me.”
She left that date pondering her ideal phony, something she had never really thought about before. She forgot to mention to Sweet Bread that she knew her sons.

This mare seemed very quiet, and if the flowers woven into her intensely voluminous mane were any indication, sweet. She also seemed to be a little embarrassed about being here.
What is the meaning of family to you? “Family means that you can tell them anything, and they will accept you. They may not understand what you say, but they accept you no matter what. To quote Lilo and Stitch: No one gets left behind, or forgotten.”
What's your favorite romantic story? “I don't really have a favorite romantic story. They are all quite nice and some are more fun to read than others, but none really stand out to me.?
What's your favorite quiet activity? “I like to laze around on my couch and read sappy stories. Or bake. If I am alone and not listening to music, then I am quiet. I don't like to lose my focus on something, especially if I have never made that particular treat before.”

Another mare with mane to spare! She too looked familiar, but the pink haired mare couldn't place it. When Candy took the seat, she noticed this one looked quite sour. Perhaps she was dragged her with a friend and didn't enter of her own free will? Candy was going to ask, but decided against it. She certainly didn't want to get on her bad side right out of the gate.
Do you like video games? “That's it!” she clapped her hooves together “You're the one who gave me the video game to borrow! That's how a recognize you! I liked the one you gave me, are there even better ones out there?”
What is the Konami Code? “I...don't know. Is it some kind of language?”
What sort of life do you think we could have together? “Well, I'm not entirely sure based off of the short time we have had, but I think we would have a lot of fun together!”

Morning Glory
Oh, and here was Morning Glory! Candy remembered her as the elementary school teacher that had consumed a little too much on a couple of nights that she had talked to her. Though here, she seemed more sober, and her pretty blue eyes were so sparkly! “Hello Morning Glory!” she said as she sat down.
How do you feel about foals? “I love foals! They are so interesting to talk to, and in owning a sweet shop I've gotten to know a lot of the local foals really well. Someday, I'd like to have my own.”
Which do you think is better; shoring up your weaknesses or playing to your strengths? “I think working on weaknesses makes you a better phony. It's probably like lifting weights; if you work on only the stuff you are good at, only those muscles are used, and then when you gotta do something else, you can't because you never worked out those muscles.”
Can you make mix a screwdriver? “I sure can! Though I prefer whiskey sours myself.”

Oh! A Flutter phony! Candy was excited to talk to another flutter. All of her encounters with them so far had be exciting! And this one seemed to be happy to be here, and her happiness rubbed off on Candy as she sat down.
What do you think makes a happy family? “A happy family means happy members! It doesn't really matter how many there are, whether there is blood relation or anything! As long as everyone is happy with calling themselves family, then that's good enough for me. On a more traditional note, honesty is needed between all members of a family for there to be real happiness. Even if it hurts somephony's feelings, it's better they hear it straight from the horses mouth -giggle- than from someone else.”
Do you have any favorite TV Shows? “Oh I do enjoy Bones a lot! I know, it doesn't really suit the sugar sweet treat baker, but the science behind the stories, and the relationships between the characters is amazing!”
Do you think that doing things yourself is best? “I think that learning to do things for yourself is important, but not necessarily best. If you learn in a group, or have someone to guide you, it can prevent some nasty injuries! And with someone for assistance, you can ask questions. Questions are very important!”

Oh my..Candy didn't quite know what to say when she approached Valkyrie. She seemed so...proper. And..she was a carousal phony! One of the rarest kinds around! She must be VERY special! Candy hoped that she wouldn't screw this up...
Why are there so few services for newly arrived babben phony in your city? “That's a good question! There really aren't many things for babbens that don't have homes right away. Silent Quill would be the phony to ask though; he's in charge of the census.”
What is the best pizza place around? “I don't think there any pizza places around here, at least not yet. I would suggest looking for places outside of the park that deliver. Who knows, maybe a pizza phony will come around!”
Are we going to educate young phony and humans to what other animals say? “Eh?” Candy tilted her head in confusion. “I...don't really understand animals, so I wouldn't be a good educator...”

The pink haired mare was still excited about meeting Valkyrie when she spied her next partner. Holy tall, dark and handsome! Candy's eyes got wide and she blushed. He was so...regal. She sat down, feeling the blush still on her cheeks.
What tactics would you use to win a hoof fight? “I'm more of a lover not a fighter. Though if somephony threatened me or my own, there would be consequences...”
Do you collect anything? “As a matter of fact I do! I collect recipes! Big fan of key lime, so if you've got anything with lime in it, I'm happy to try it out!”
How do you define loyalty? “Loyalty...that's difficult. I mean, most phonies would define it as standing by something or someone you care for...But I think it's more than that.” She paused, fiddling with the light on the table. “I suppose I could say that being loyal doesn't mean standing by someone no matter what, but also having the courage to tell them when they are wrong. It means looking out for them not only from a physical standpoint, but an emotional one as well. Sorry I'm rambling a bit...sometimes thoughts just carry me away..”
Candy waved as she left the table, giving Reaper a sweet smile. “See ya around!”

Her heart still beating loudly, Candy saw that her next date was none other than Rosewrite. “Oh that's right! I was going to tell his mother I knew him!” she remembered, but sighed. Ah well, her memory was a fickle thing sometimes. She sat in front of the pink stallion, and smiled. “Hey there! How's it going? Got any good prospects yet?”
What is your most treasured possession? Why? “My most treasured possession is Maple Bar. Well, I can't REALLY call him a possession because he is an animal...but so far, I think I like him the best out of all of my other things, living or non. He's my buddy!
What was the last book you read? “Oh you're going to think I'm horrible for this!” she said, cheeks coloring slightly. “But my last book was...Twilight. I know I know, awful right!? I am just a sucker for sappy books!”
If there was one fact about you that I should write down in my book, what would it be? “I make the best key lime cheesecake in the entire universe, so if you ever want a slice, come to me!”
Her last answer was silly, but she knew she was with a friend and could be just that. Plus the strain of answering all of the other questions was starting to get to her. It was nice to joke around every once in a while, break it up a little!

Her final date of the night was yet another carousal phony! She giggled with excitement. They were all so lovely!
What do you fight for and why? “I...don't really fight. I mean in the literal sense. I am more of a lover, not a fighter. If I had to fight, it would be for my Maple Bar, or my business.”
What is your favorite place in Phony Land? “I do love to go by the pond! I went treasure hunting there once with a little filly, and I can't seem to stay away after that! Something about seeing a place through the eyes of a young one changes your perspective.”
Wanna tussle? “Oh, but won't we break something? There are an awful lot of tables and chairs in here!”

And with that, her first Speed Date experience was over. Candy sighed, rubbing one hoof on the opposing leg. Her mouth was quite dry, and she headed to the nearest waitress to order a drink.
@Candy Dandy What is your favorite thing for dessert? Devil’s food cake, dark and rich and oh-so-moist.
What's your favorite way to spend free time? When I’m not cutting a proverbial rug? I love a nice lazy daydream somewhere dark, maybe a laptop nearby to browse trends.
Do you ever want to have foals? Having a few sweetthings around might be nice, little hooves around to teach.

@Honeysuckle What is your favorite flower? Moonflower, has to be. I can relate to a pretty bloom that only feels like shining at night.

Candy Honey smiled at the brightly colored mare, knowing she was one of TACO's children. She was lovely and upbeat which was such a change from his quiet sister and his more outspoken sister. Even his daughter was not so energetic.
What is your favorite thing for dessert? I am a fan of the lighter sweets. Short bread cookies being my favorite. I also enjoy honey flavored treats.
What's your favorite way to spend free time? I enjoy being outside where nature is. Whether it is in the gazebo lounging in the afternoon sun or a walk in the woods on a cool morning.
Do you ever want to have foals? At this he chuckled, nodding his head with a smile. "I have already raised two foals of my own. I am even a grandfather by one of them. I sadly suffer from what my daughter calls empty nest syndrome. So yes, I would enjoy more foals around my home."
Warp Honey admired the stallion's colorful hair and intelligent demeanor. He seemed to enjoy looking at the starts judging by his star map he brought as well as his lovely cutie mark. The draft stallion smiled at him.
What's your favorite constellation and why? "Actually, the constellation I like best is either not considering one any more or is more of a chinese constellation. It is called Musca, the Bee. As a gardener and lover of flowers the bee is one of the most important insects to keep my garden looking beautiful. I feel it deserves a place in the sky for all it does."
What do you see when you stare into the night sky? I see the infinite wonder that is the world. I know, somewhere, someone else is looking at the same sky. It connects us all.
Who's your favorite Starfleet captain? Picard, a most noble man.
Boho Ah another of TACO's brood. He really was quite plentiful. The girl was quite pink like her mother but with the flair of her father in her mood. Much like her older brother, Draft.
What's your favorite song and what color do you see when you hear it? My favorite song is The Pastoral Symphony by Beethoven. I see the colors of spring whenever it plays, the sweet sounds bringing nature to life.
If you got a tattoo, what would it be? A tattoo? Hmmm, I suppose I would not mind getting a small heart by my ear.
What makes you feel like your heart's got wings? The first flower to bloom in my garden in spring. That first sign of color and the burst of life soon to follow.
Wilma Now Honey wasn't sure what the make of this phony. He had never seen her before and she didn't look like any phony he had ever seen. But then again more specialized phonies being created every day.

Bumble Well this mare seemed quite feisty with a lovely orange color. He rarely saw that color despite it being one of the most lovely colors in the flower realm.
What's your favorite school of martial arts? Tai chi, it is a very relaxing art to practice in the morning to ensure I am stretched for a long day in my garden.

Giving the idea a quick once over he answered, "It would have a shell as soft as a flower petal but sturdy and protective. Small vines would always be curled around it.
Fruit Punch It was a good thing Honey didn't mind stallions or mares when it came to dating or he would have run out of people to talk to by now. This one seemed colorful but had something of a sad continence to his face. Perhaps he was still suffering from some broken heart.
What's your ideal way to spend a night out on the town? I'm not much for spending a night on the town but perhaps a walk through the city park or maybe a diner at a small bistro.

Jolly Now this stallion was definitely something right out of a story book. An eye patch and a pirate's flag for a cutie mark. Perhaps he was a swash buckler, one who rode down the sails on a knife and pillaged treasure laden ships. Just like in his romance novels.
How do you feel about pirates? I find them quite extraordinary. Such bravery on the uncertain oceans but able to navigate to all parts of the world.
Do you like the ocean? Ah sadly I am one of the earth rather than the water. Hard to grow things when there's no land for them to take root in.

Nocturne After the line of stallions it was refreshing to see a mare, specially such an unusually winged mare. She had a horrific kind of beauty, the kind that appears in horror films but you still find very attractive.
How do you feel about dance? I enjoy slow dancing. Being so large anything fast moving can be....painful.
What makes you feel centered? My garden, being amongst the flowers makes me completely serene.
Are you a fleeting or forever kinda phony? He had never considered the question really, as his immediate family had never married. Only his nieces and nephews had taken a spouse. His sisters were unattached, as he was unsure of Scent's relationship with Taiko and Bon's over night romance with the wandering draft. "Well I suppose I am more of a fleeting phony. I think everyone is beautiful and I am unsure there is one out there who could not feel the pains of jealousy."
TART Honey looked DOWN at the small filly who had entered the run. Why was she allowed to enter? He distinctly thought it was for Old Enoughs but a quick read of the rules did not state such a thing. When he read her questions he was immediately aware of her parentage. Seems many of TACO's children were attempting this dating scene.
What is your favorite thing about TART? You are a lovely shade of purple. It reminds me of the royal iris and the pretty peony.
What kind of gifts would you bring to woo me on our first date? Well flowers of course, I have an abundance of the and know what would best compliment your colors and your scent.

"As my favorite sandwich bread would have a lovely honey glaze I suppose a bit of salami or pepperoni to give it some zest. Some smoked gouda for a toned down flavor. Lettuce for a crunch. And maybe a hint of mayonnaise."
What is your ideal date night? A good question if he intended to find a real date from this adventure. "Dinner at a small outdoor bistro, where the sounds of the night would be our orchestra as we ate. Then a carriage ride through the park."

Spica This was a mare he hadn't expected to be here given her shy nature. He had been told by his daughter, who enjoyed telling him when mares were batting their eyes at him, that she fancied him.
What is the meaning of family to you? Family means the world to me. My sisters are my queens. My daughter is my princess. My son is a princely gentleman. I try to be an inspiration to my nieces and nephews. And I look forward to the joys of being a grandfather.

The alicorn folds and refolds her drink napkin over and over again. She's very nervous, all these phonies and they'd all be very close and asking her so many questions and she'd have to come up with good responses. The mare looked down at her lap to see wispy flakes of white paper floating all over her table and getting caught in her hair. Oh goodness. She started pulling them out of her hair and stacking them on the table when her first date appeared.
Spica smiled at the bright candy pink phony who plopped down in front of her. She seemed nice if a bit hyper. The mare pushed a long lock of dark hair from behind her ear and looked down at the question card.
What is your favorite thing for dessert? "Mmm..Petit Fours." she nodded firmly. "They're little tiny cakes and they get decorated so cutely and you can have all the different kinds of cakes you want without going over board! Though.." she blushes "Sometimes I go over board on them anyway."
What's your favorite way to spend free time? "Oh gosh, I like all kinds of things. Kniting and reading are my favorites. Though these days I like to try and go out and see whats going on in town. During Christmas everything was so cheerful and warm, even in the snow. It's just sorta cold now but it has it's own charm with hot ciders and phonies in cute scarfs.
Do you ever want to have foals? Spica actually perks a little at this question. "I have four foals already, although they're all grown up. I even have grandfoals now." Her complextion went pink again and she fidgits her front hoofs together anxiously. "Maybe being a grandmother makes me too old for all this." She says a little sadly. "But, I'd like to have more one day.." she drifts off in thought for a moment. "Foals and grandfoals and great grand foals and all the phonies they love. A really huge family that I can be proud of." She's quiet again for a long moment. "I guess that's my dream."

Spica's eyes went wide then the large draft sat down in front her and she flushed the color of a cherry. It was that handsome stallion that sold flowers and oh gosh he was really here.
What is your favorite flower? "Peonies. They...they say that nymphs and faeries would hide behind their pink petals from humans who were wandering too close. I'm told it fit's me pretty well. Also Asters, because they are star shaped and my name is..star related."
How would you make love grow? Spica's stutter got worse and she ducked her head more so her hair would hide her face even more. "I think that..I would try and encourage and support him in anything he...he liked to do. And a lot of time snuggling..I...I like to snuggle.."
What is your dream romantic evening?? "I..I'd like to go out to something a little quiet, a..a..dinner or maybe a movie and then go out walking for awhile. Then..then..then..maybe at the end a goodnight k.." Spica sort of mumbles the last, glowing brightly behind her curtain of hair. "..kiss."

Spica took deep, calming breaths as Honeysuckle left. To have a stallion she'd been crushing on for a long time to appear here nearly made her heart explode out of her chest. Her nerves were still a little jangled when the red stallion sat down at her table.

What's your favorite constellation and why? Spica smiled brightly at this question. "Well..my name is Spica, and I'm sure you know that's the brightest start in the Virgo constellation, so I've always been found of it."
What do you see when you stare into the night sky? She closed her eyes to picture the night sky. "I see so much of the unknown. I think it's amazing how the night sky can make you feel so alone and small and yet amazing that you're a part of this huge, vast place."

Spica really loved the color of this mare's eyes and her mane, while much shorter then she'd ever be able to stand, was really cute on her. While she was high energy, Spica was able to relax in her presence.
What's your favorite song and what color do you see when you hear it? "I Will Survive is a song I really can't help but sing if it ever comes on the radio. I think of sparkling gold if I thought of a color."
If you got a tattoo, what would it be? "Something small on my inner hoof so it's kinda hidden, but I don't know what of. I have a lot of ideas, butterflies and flowers mostly. They're all pretty girly."

How do you unwind after an eventful day? "I really like to make some tea and pick up whatever book I've been reading. But if I'm at my friends house we talk over coffee or I read to my grandchildren if I'm at my daughters'."

This stallion was a huge contrast to the last mare, it made Spica smile. His soothing colors and big smile really made the last few bits of her nerves finally settle. Spica wanted him to just sit there the rest of the night and help keep her clam but didn't want him to get the wrong idea.

If you were a candle, what would your scent be? This was a interesting one. "My favorite scent are oranges, but maybe I'd make a very floral candle." She thought for a moment. "Hopefully nothing too strong."

What do you look for in a significant other? "I want..someone who has a lot of differences then me, but a few of the sames. Like, I want someone who's a little more outgoing and strong, but who likes doing quiet things like me."

There was no name for the shade of reddish pink she turned."MY KIDS MADE ME!" she blurted out before tears started dotting the table. How embarrassing for her crush to see her doing this, she hoped he'd forgive her.
What is your most treasured possession? Why? "My scrap book." The alicorn sniffled and wiped her cheeks. "It has pictures and clippings and all sort of things about my friends and family."
What was the last book you read? "The Invention of Wings."
If there was one fact about you that I should write down in my book, what would it be? "I think that I really, really like you.."

What is your favorite thing for dessert? Bread pudding. Have you ever had any? Oh I will have to give you the recipe. It’s so good. <3

Printed news or digitally released news? I like receiving the paper, it useful for more than just reading. It’s materials can be used for crafts, wrapping… It just nice to have spare paper around.
What is your idea of fun? I’m going to sound like a big nerd, but baking. What can I say it’s fun for me. Then getting to taste the fruits of your labor is even better.

What is the meaning of family to you? Family has been so special to me. Through all of the love, heartaches and the pain I know my family has been there for me. Family means more to me than anything.
What's your favorite romantic story? I just saw ‘Her’ oh my goodness… that was so beautiful. Tragically beautiful. It the kind of love you know can’t work out and you are pulling for it at the end… but then not cause you want them to both be happy. Actually we should stop… I might start crying.

Family means that you are in it together. Like a rose bush a family grows together, supporting each along the way. Some travel farther away, some are brighter than others but they are still all apart of the few little seeds that started it all. Family is unconditional love.
What's your favorite romantic story? Moulin Rouge…. I don’t watch too many musicals, but I do love that movie. The beautiful story of a man trying to woo over a girl that just won’t except it…. She has good reason not to get close to anyone, but in the end she did… along with unfortunate events but they warn you the beginning of the movie!

The large carousel stallion groaned inwardly as he looked at all the boring ponies he was about to talk to. Without a doubt listening to all their boring answers was going to make his ears bleed. To make it even worse he was expected to answer their questions to boot.

What is your favorite thing for dessert? "Anything that hasn't come out of a garbage can," he grunted, looking bored.
What's your favorite way to spend free time? "Fighting, taking other people's valuables..." The usual.

At first he thought controlling the ocean would be good one, but then that would take out the skill of being a pirate and he would hate to wrest control from the mighty ocean herself. Breathing underwater? No, he never actually went into the water and he couldn’t actually swim to make use of it.

Bumble weighed upCandy Dandy as she sat down. She didn't look too fit, but she was certainly friendly and at ease.
What is your favorite thing for dessert? That was her opening move? This would be easy.
Bumble tapped the table thoughtfully. "As a general rule, I kinda avoid desserts. But when I'm feeling indulgent... Well, it's really just whatever catches my eye frist. Usually a flaky pastry with chocolate or jam from the shop down the road from my place."
What's your favorite way to spend free time? This question caught Bumble by surprise. "Free time? The only time I don't train or exercise is when I can't, which is time usually spent sleeping, eating, or thinking about training, exercise, and fighting." She trailed off on the last few words, realizing as she said it just how unusual it sounded. Had she really become that focused on her career?
Do you ever want to have foals? If Bumble was on the ropes from the last question, this one was a straight-up knockout blow. "I, that's, uh??? Nnnno," she spluttered, "probably not? I can't think of... like, me, a mother?" This was the last thing she'd been expecting! Which, honestly, was not a very reasonable expectation from a speed dating event. As she berated herself for this setback, she slumped into a bit of a sulk. She had soundly lost this fight. In her mind, she heard the judges announcing the results;
CANDY DANDY: 1 - BUMBLE THUNDER: 0
Whatever. She'd take this loss and use it to prepare for the next bout.
When she was seated with the stallionHoneysuckle, Bumble prepared herself for another difficult encounter.
What is your favorite flower? Bumble actually had an answer for this one - "Orchids, 'cause they looks ridiculous but still pretty nice."
How would you make love grow? She wanted to answer 'by planting and watering it,' but that just seemed cruel. And a pretty bad joke in the first place, let's be real. "By uh, well like doing stuff together, I guess? And... talking... ?"
What is your dream romantic evening?? Bumble had to pause and think about this one. Think out loud, in fact; "Well, for me, it'd probably be, they pick me up from - no, they'd watch me at a fight, and walk me to the back to cool down and do my stretches, and walk me home, and uhhh help me cook? And we'd. Just be at home together and relax, I guess." The conclusion she reached was that she was absoultely terrible at romance forever, but she had tried, so noone could fault her.
This bout ended in a draw. An improvement over the last, but still not great.
Poet Lariat was willowy, almost waif-like. Something about his speech patterns irritated her.

Bumble was nothing but confused byMacarena. A dancer would be pretty fit, but he was too forward for her tastes. She answered his questions with a weak smile.

Talking to the heartyWarp Nine was easy after plowing through all the romance stuff before. He looked like he lived a pretty sedentiary lifestyle, but he was bright and animated, at least.

If you were an egg layer, what would your eggshells look like? Bumble blinked rapidly as she tried to work out an answer for this one. Eventually, she settled on, "Probably leathery, like an alligator," to try and put him off.
Man, this event was a real mixed bag. Bumble wasn't feeling the romance, but she was sure feeling something. Mostly annoyed. She wondered if she could get a speed bag in lilac.
Fruit Punch kind of seemed like he wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Not super appealing, but then again, it was speed dating.
What's your ideal way to spend a night out on the town? "If I've got a fight scheduled, it's that. If not, I guess going to a restaurant or something? Or bowling?"
What's the name of your favorite drink? (Alcoholic or non) "I've got a ton of recipes for shakes and smoothies. The peanut butter and banana ones are pretty excellent, but they don't really have names."
What's your opinion of dating somebody with baggage from a previous relationship? (Turn off or Turn on?) "Turn-off," she answered. She could hardly deal with potential new relationships! If this guy had some complicated feelings to deal with, he could do it without Bumble.
Which was kind of selfish, she reflected as he moved on to the next table. But by god, if she couldn't deal, she couldn't deal.
Jolly Roger Looked like he could handle himself pretty well, even if his hair did seem like it'd get in the way.
How do you feel about pirates? "Actually, pretty impressed. It's gotta take a lot of coordination and strength to get anything done on a swaying ship. Might not leave a lot of room for more refined combat techniques, but in a life-or-death situation, nobody cares about technique."
Do you like the ocean? "I don't think I've ever been, actually. Seems like a nice enough place, if you're there on a good day."
Aye? "Yeah, sure. Aye."
Straightforward and succinct. Not a bad guy, that Jolly Roger.
Bumble was surprised when she was sat withNocturne. Definitely one of the odder phonies she'd seen! She seemed at ease among the crowd.
How do you feel about dance? Bumble grinned. "It's like fighting, but with a few less bruises. Not bad, but not as good, for me."
What makes you feel centered? After a moments thought, Bumble said, "Sparring with a close friend." Maybe that's why she'd been feeling so outta whack lately. She missed sparring with Blue, but a matchup between the two of them wouldn't be fair until he was older.
Are you a fleeting or forever kinda phony? "Kinda situational," Bumble said thoughtfully. "I'm pretty loyal, generally speaking, but sometimes things change."
Come to think of it, when was the last time she'd spoken to Blue? She'd have to reconnect with him soon, see how he was progressing with his elements and stuff. Maybe lend him a helping hoof.
She was startled out of her reverie when she was paired with babbyTART. What the heck was she doing here?
What is your favorite thing about TART? "I definitely admire your spunk, kid. I bet you've gotten that a lot tonight, though, huh? Your hair's cute, too."
What kind of gifts would you bring to woo me on our first date? "Hmmm." Bumble considered the question a little exaggeratedly. "Probably a nice bracelet or something? Definitely jewelery."
Tell me I’m pretty. "You're the prettiest filly in the room," Bumble said with a wink.
The vibrantMarvel was about as out of shape as Cherpumple, but she was definitely actively participating in this plane of reality, at least.
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why? "Something that wouldn't make me have to quit my day job," Bumble laughed. "Super speed and super strength are out, and so's stuff like mind control. Maybe eye lasers or something."
DC or Marvel? "I don't read either, really. I bet I know which you prefer, though."
Whose your favorite superhero (or villain)? "Don't really have one. Superman seems pretty classy, I guess."
Alright, Marvel seemed pretty cool, too. Can't judge a book by its cover - unless it's a comic book, maybe. But wait, she'd misjudged someone who would probably be a comic book in this metaphor. This was getting confusing.
Extra Extra didn't look too remarkable, but he sure was excited about the speed dating scene. Bumble appreciated his enthusiasm.
What's your favorite section of the news paper? "The headlines are the important part, right? Sports section's nice, but it doesn't cover enough boxing. Comics are a nice bonus."
Printed news or digitally released news? "Depends on what's handy at the time, I guess. News is news, isn't it?"
What is your idea of fun? "A good fight or sparring match, for one." Bumble said. "I live for my work. I think I might have to expand into some new hobbies soon, though."
Meanwhile,Sweet Bread looked about as excited as Bumble was to be here, which was not very. Gave her an understanding smile as she sat down.
If I could make you the perfect sandwich bread what would you put in it? "Roast beef, with barbequeue sauce and bacon and cheese," Bumble answered immediately. They weren't exactly a staple of her diet, but this night was dragging on, and she was getting hungry, and those always hit the spot.
What is your ideal date night? "Food and a fight, probably. Or something else active, like a sport or something? Do adults go sledding? Becasue it's sure the right season for it," Bumble rambled. "Sledding and cocoa."
What do you look for in a significant other? "Iiii honestly have no idea," Bumble sighed. "This event isn't exactly helping me decide, either."
Damn, why'd Sweet Bread have to ask about sandwiches? Now Bumble was getting cravings.
Delicate Spica was another one who looked like she would rather be anywhere but here. Bumble could comisserate.
What is the meaning of family to you? Ouch, tough question. "Well, I don't have any blood relations, so the only family I've got is..." none, at the moment, unless the human who'd comissioned her counted. But there was... "the family I've chosen for myself. And they're as important as anything," she finished weakly. Can't be that important if you haven't talked to him in months, she thought, and writhed a little.
What's your favorite romantic story? "I don't really know any," Bumble mumbled. "One of the Rocky movies, I guess."
What's your favorite quiet activity? "Don't really have any, sorry."
Enough of the guilt, Bumble, she thought firmly. You're gonna go see him this week.
Bumble blinked at Frag Doll. Another alicorn? And she didn't look too pleased to be here, either. Better make this quick, she thought.
Do you like video games? "I haven't played any."
What is the Konami Code? "I have no idea."
What sort of life do you think we could have together? "A really complicated one," Bumble laughed, rolling her eyes.
Before she left, Bumble chucked Frag Doll gently on the shoulder. "Good luck. We'll be outta here soon enough."
Morning Glory seemed kinda fidgety and nervous. Her hair sure was super nice, though.
How do you feel about foals? Again with the kids question. "I have no idea if I want them or not. Children are our future, though, I guess? They're just really small people, I dunno."
Which do you think is better; shoring up your weaknesses or playing to your strengths? "Both are important," Bumble said pensivelty. This was strategy! She could handle this! "When somethign important's on the line, you're better playing to your strengths, but if you don't work on anything else, you're gonna be hard pressed to get far - in any field, not just fighting."
Can you make mix a screwdriver? "Probably? Someone'd have to show me how, first."
Bumble wasn't super familiar with flutter phonies. Silk Kimono looked like she might shatter if Bumble sneezed at her! She restrained herself while seated with the delicate lady.
What do you think makes a happy family? "Acceptance and understanding," Bumble replied after much consideration. "Shared interests don't hurt, either."
Do you have any favorite TV Shows? "I don't actually have a television," Bumble admitted sheepishly.
Do you think that doing things yourself is best? "It's sure good for bragging rights, but there's nothing wrong with getting help from others. Sometimes it's a lot better, actually."
Carousels were new on her, too. Valkyrie was decked out in armor, and had such an air of seriousness and command that Bumble stood for Valkyrie to sit first.
Why are there so few services for newly arrived babben phony in your city? Bumble blinked. Was she using this event as an avenue for raising awareness about a cause? If so, it was a misinformed one. "I hate to break it to you, miss, but there's housing available for all phonies over in the Stables section of the park. Even the unemployed or newly de-blistered are welcome - every human patron has one to house the phonies they care for, if we haven't got homes of our own. You might wanna take this issue up with your patron, if you didn't get that info, because that's downright criminal."
What is the best pizza place around? Okay, she wasn't just interested in activism. "I don't usually go for pizza too often, but there's this place not too far that makes an excellent pie. I'll write the address on the back of your question card, if you like."
Are we going to educate young phony and humans to what other animals say? Bumble laughed. "Is that about that dumb fox song? I've gotten so sick of hearing that. It's just a popular song, they'll start playing new stuff eventually."
Valkyrie was a little intimidating at first pass, but she seemed alright. "Hit me up if you ever need someone to explain something," Bumble said as she stood, and left the table with a wave.
Another carousel, armored like Valkyrie. Were they siblings? Reaper seemed just about as intimidating as the other carousel, but Bumble assumed that that might'a been a family thing.
What tactics would you use to win a hoof fight? Despite his gruff attitude, Bumble answered his first question playfully. "Trade secret, tin-can," she said with a smirk. "Wouldn't wanna give you an edge on me in if we ever fought."
Do you collect anything? "Trophies," she answered simply. She was, after all, a professional fighter - the best around.
How do you define loyalty? "Doing what's right by whatever, or whoever, you've chosen to stand by."
The more they talked, the more Bumble realized that the air he projected might not be as misleading as his sister's, and he might, in fact, actually be an a*****e. The comment about the smoothies was absolutely uncalled for - he made it sound like there was something wrong with both smoothies and girls when he said that. There wasn't anything wrong with either of those things. Before Bumble could formulate a reply to that, time was up and they were changing partners again.
She'd get back to him later.
Rosewrite was obviously another writer, not physically active, enjoyed talking about emotions, and was obviously interested in someone else in the room. Bumble went through the motions.
What is your most treasured possession? Why? "The first trophy I won in a fighting tournament is pretty important to me, probably for obvious reasons," she told him. "That whole proving yourself to the world thing."
What was the last book you read? "An Introduction to Kickboxing, probably, and that was ages ago. I don't read much."
If there was one fact about you that I should write down in my book, what would it be? There were a lot of facts about Bumble Thunder. She had no idea what kind, specifically, he was looking for, and her mind reeled for a bit. Eventually, she settled on, "Verbal karate is not my strong suit."
A third carousel phony! They were out in force tonight. Rose Knight wasn't armored like the others, but she was still in very good shape - in fighting trim, really.
What do you fight for and why? "I fight for the fight itself," Bumble told Rose Knight. "There's nothing that compares to the thrill of a friendly fight. The prize money ain't bad, either," she added with a grin.
What is your favorite place in Phony Land? "There's a few parks with nice, level, grassy places that're great for throwing down in. My apartment's good, too, I guess, but it's nothing too fancy."
Wanna tussle? "Hell yes, I've been looking for a new sparring partner! We can't both train in my apartment, though, too small. What kind of equipment do you have - I've got some stuff I can bring with me if you haven't got any punching bags or anything."
Bumble really liked Rose Knight. This whole thing might be worth it if she they turned out to be a good match in the ring.
Bumble looked around for the next phony in line, but as she searched the crowd, she realized she'd talked to everyone already. The event was getting closer and closer to over - there was just the mingling next. She'd catch up with the phonies who were promising friend material, catch up with the one who definitely wasn't, and split. Preferably his lip, but giving him a black eye would be pretty sweet. She just doubted she could manage it around the helmet.
Rose Knight sat in her chair and took a deep breath when the bell to begin chimed throughout the hall. The game was on!
And goodness wasn’t her first ‘date’ cute as can be? Rose Knight could of sworn she’d seen this pretty mare out and about selling sugary treats and always lending a helpful hoof.

Fruit Punch was genuinely surprised by the number of phonies that showed up to the speed dating event, not expecting that many lonely and desperate souls to be here. And woah woah woah, there were some familiar faces here? Frag Doll and Morning Glory, his two best friends, were here. Then he thought he recognized that pink filly from somewhere.. Wasn't her name Boho or something like that? He shrugged, figuring he'd get to know her eventually so it wasn't a big deal to worry about at the moment his lack of precise memory. And then, his mouth almost gaped for a second. Was that dark green stud over there the same jerk he'd fought with over a dubloon in the sandbox as a foal? Well, damn. Some people grew up hotter than you'd expect. But speaking of hotties, there were quite a lot of 'em in here. With a grin of self-confidence that he'd answer correctly and score at least one future date, he set down to star answering the stack of papers in front of him.

Candy Dandy What is your favorite thing for dessert? Ok so you do this thing where you take marshmallow creme and hot fudge and mix it up in a little bowl. Then you dip graham cracker sticks into it. It’s awesome.
What's your favorite way to spend free time? I like to read! Or watch TV. Or look at the stars. Even though that's what I do when I'm on the clock.
Do you ever want to have foals? W-w-well, maybe yeah one day! I mean I’m pretty busy and I’d have to find a Very Special Somephony first, but that’s why I’m here, right? To meet phonies? I mean I’m not here to have foals or look at telescopes even though my mom told me this was an astronomy event and oh my stars I’m so sorry I sound so dumb right now.

Honeysuckle What is your favorite flower? Cactus flowers! Dunno why, I just think there’s something really nice about a beautiful flower attached to something prickly.
How would you make love grow? I’d get a little more sleep every night to get an optimum REM cycle count. Uninterrupted REM sleep increases melatonin production, which in turn can help affect seratonin levels. Seratonin is understood to basically help out with well-being and happiness, and when you’re hormonally happy, you’re more likely to be nice. And you can’t have love without niceness.

What is your dream romantic evening?? Late night picnic under a meteor shower with a couple of telescopes. I’d show my date my favorite lunar craters and then we’d look at the Galilean moons together. Afterwards, we’d go home and cuddle on the couch while Holst plays in the background.

There’s a lot of good styles of bread with their own standards for perfection. For something like sourdough, I’d go with ham, brown mustard, cracked black pepper, romaine lettuce, and a thick slice of cheddar cheese. For something like a whole-grain cracked wheat thing, I’d go with roast turkey, gouda, cranberry, and spinach.
What is your ideal date night? Late night picnic followed by vigorous star gazing and a close examination of a number of lunar phenomena. Then maybe putting on Cosmos and snuggling my lady to the dulcet tones of Carl Sagan.

Candy Dandy What is your favorite thing for dessert? Cheesecake, which I happen to know is also your favorite thing for dessert. Roc N Rolls What's your MOST favorite music genre? That’s- that’s a totally unfair question! I mean genres these days are such a question of splitting or lumping and I can appreciate a piece for its artistry or technical proficiency or lyricism without actually really caring for the sound of the piece- and then when you look at electronic stuff it all really runs together, and then when you try to sort the older stuff like that it really falls through because they weren’t playing to the genre station market so it all gets called classic rock and that’s kind of unfair given the diversity but backdating the classification systems is just messy.
That aside, I like most of the metal subgenres and rock as an overall whole. I’m not so keen on post-90s pop music or country, though. If you could hear only one song for the rest of your life over and over, what song would it be? The version of Bohemian Rhapsody from the ’86 live recording at Wembley Stadium. As amazing as Queen’s studio work is, their live stuff is amazing, and Brian had done something just super wicked with his amps that night so even though it’s a live recording the guitar comes through like a screaming banshee. Do you dig dudes with long hair? Depends. Do you dig chicks with short hair?

Do you collect anything? Yup. Every concert venue I find a rock and write the date and city on it. Arena name, too, if there’s space. It’s a free way to remind myself of where I’ve been and where I’ve yet to go.
