Sasha merely nodded, though she kept hold of Jerry's hand so that she could trace her fingers over the shape of the key.

"I wouldn't be so certain that it's something you want to protect, Jerry. If I could, I would take this burden from you. I feel like it's all my fault."

"If it unlocks some horrible monster? Like hell we want that getting into the wrong hands." His mouth twisted into a weak smile, "And you have way too much burden on you already. Me? I'm a bonified expendable Sun."

Sasha was silent for a long time before releasing Jerry's hand.

"Have you seen," she gestured around the room weakly, "Wash?"

Jerry's smile dropped as he frowned down at his palm, closing his fingers around it to hide the stupid thing from view. "No. I thought... he was still back there with you."

Sasha waved her hand in the air, almost as if she'd been expecting that particular answer.

"Five months, I don't know." She shrugged and let the topic drop. It wasn't worth talking about at that point.

"Things are so <********>."

Jerry's mind raced. Things were pretty ******** but... He hadn't been there, and his brain liked to keep things simple or it felt overloaded. It was easy to step back and take a deep breath for him- simpler than for Sasha anyway. He bit his lip, gingerly putting an arm around her shoulders, "It... it's not THAT er... ********. I mean... You have Nona back, and that's half the battle, right? Whatever we've stumbled into, I'm sure we can figure it out. And in the meantime, you... well, I suppose you have a fresh start for whatever hairdo you'd like!" He tried beaming, convinced the half-joke might help.

It didn't help, as made obvious by the uncontrollable laughter that sounded harshly in the room. It was accompanied by a horrified look, and Sasha immediately clasped her hands over her mouth.

Jerry gaped at her for a moment, a look of terror on his face as he watched his friend slip startlingly. As to devert any awkwardness and embarrassment she might be feeling, he let loose his own frantic grasp at a laugh.

It took Sasha a few seconds to regain he composure. Her face was exceptionally pale, her skin covered in a thin sheen of sweat.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry."

There was still a trace of mad laughter in her voice when she spoke, one that was echoed in her eyes - a sort of half-crazed humor.

"I'm still tired. But I can't sleep."

"It's ok," He assured her, tightening his one-armed hug, "I think you're due a bit of release, and laughter is the best medicine. I've gotten good with that keyboard Candace gave me- I could play you something relaxing."

Quite frankly, music had been the farthest thing from her mind since her arrival back on the island. Sasha thought briefly of her flute, and her mouth tightened. His half-hug was welcomed, though - which was odd for her, considering their history - and Sasha quietly shook her head.

"I've got to get back into shape. Spar, I don't know. This body feels so weak compared to my own."

She pulled away from him and offered a quick smile, one that didn't reach her eyes.

"We should spar sometime, soon."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 10, 2014 2:54 pm

"I ah... haven't been up to my usual standards either ahahaha... a spar is definitely in order! Whenever you'd like! But... but you definitely should sleep. I could make you tea or go get you some cocoa or warm up some milk or something?" He fidgeted, knowing full well it wouldn't be that easy. After everything... he had gotten used to a system he and Roar had developed to battle his own night terrors. It worked, but it was a fine balance, he knew.

"There's nothing more you can do than take care of what body you have, and be thankful it has all its arms and legs. We'll sort this out. It... it could be worse, right? Things can always be worse."

Sasha couldn't think of much else that could be worse - death? At this point, even death didn't seem worse. At least it made sense. At least it had a purpose. It was final.

This was just... limbo.

But Jerry was trying, and Sasha had to appreciate it even though his positivity was absolutely draining. She gave a nod, and perked slightly at the thought of tea.

"Tea might help me sleep," she moved to perch on the edge of the bed, "if you're sure you don't mind."

"Not at all. It's the least I could do," His expression softened, still a nervous smile. He knew his feeble attempts at comfort were just that, but what else could he do? He took her hand again, "I'll be right back, how about you take a nice bath or something and I'll tidy up your bed so you've got a nice landing spot?"

"I don't think I could stand making my way down to the showers," Sasha gave him a weak smile and squeezed his hand, "so I think I'll just wait here for you to return."

She glanced over her shoulder at the brush that rested on the bedside table.

"Maybe braid my hair while you're gone."

Or just sit on the bed like a zombie.
