“No way! It’ll be fine,” Zahavha insisted, flicking her tail bravely. “Hello there! My name is Zahavah and this is Pavlov. You’ll have to forgive him. He’s… shy. Yeah. That’s it, shy! Pavlov calm down. It’s gonna be okay!”
“Gonna be okay,” she murmured, shaking her head sharply. Her hat tumbled forward and she caught it with a demented giggle, allowing the shadow snakes to peek out. “Gonna be okay, okay, okay. Okay, gonna be. Sid is here! Yes, yes she is.” She gave a toss of her head and flipped the hat back on her head, though the snake continued to peek out from under it, flicking out its forked tongue at Pavlov. “Sid likes the trembly male. Scaredy male, scaredy male, terrified terrible male.”

"Oh great, she likes me," Pavlov groaned grabbing Zah's tail with his teeth and pulling her back. The creepy snake lady likes him and wouldn't hesitate to gobble them both up, he was certain. If Zahavah's survival skills weren't enough to tell her to get out of there then he would have to.

“That’s a GOOD thing, Pav!” Zahavah planted her feet, refusing to be moved. “You want people to like you. Chill! You said you’d trust me, right?”
“Like you, like you, like you,” Obsidian murmured, dancing a few steps left, and then right again. “Little gold fish and big scared wolf. So cute, cute, cute. Like you, like a fish, gold fish, fishy, fishy, fishy. Here fishy, fishy, fishy, come get a treat, treat, treaty, treat, treat.” She giggled.

"Yes, Zah, and I trust you," Pavlov mumbled, his teeth still latched at her tail. "But let's find someone with fewer sharp teeth!" he gave her tail another tug. It was taking all of the self control he'd developed over the years to keep him from bolting. After all, in the past he couldn't run every time one of his visions started up - he'd never stop running. Of course, things were very different now that he knew this dark vision was actually REAL!

Zah wiggled her tail, trying to free it. "Pav, relax! Seriously. Just cuz she looks all freaky doesn't mean she's... freaky. Right?"
Sid... kept giggling.

Pavlov barely restrained a deep sigh of frustration. As much as he admired Zahavah for her bravery, this really was too much. "Zah, it's not just looks I'm going off of here!"

"Blast, blast.... boom!" Giggle.

"Zah," Pavlov chanced to let go of her tail for a moment and sent up a quick prayer that she wouldn't run head first into the trouble baring down on them all too quickly for Pavlov's taste. "Please trust me. I have a really bad feeling about this, and I Know I always have bad feelings but this one is Serious. We need to go...somewhere, anywhere else!" He spared a quick look into the dark, empty eyes of the terror mare and knew there would be no mercy from that one. Zahavah couldn't just stamp on her and make her go "poof" - if only she would recognize that!

Obsidian tilted her head back, staring back at Pavlov with a mixture of glee and curiosity. The conversation between the large and small strangers was interesting, but not nearly so interesting as how the stallion was reacting to her. Though, if she was honest about it, most others reacted to her with fear or concern. That was what made meeting strangers so much fun! The little one wasn’t playing the game right, but Obsidian was willing to forgive the dwarf… after all, the little one was unconsciously goading the fear in the stallion.
“Leave so soon?” she crooned, dropping the songs having grown bored with them. From the way the runt was going, it was unlikely that she would be ending the game, but the stallion was clearly terrified. There was no telling what he would do, or how long he’d remain just because the little one was still there. Creatures, large and small, were selfish. It was something she was always happy to rely on.
For once, Zahavah hesitated. She was more than happy to continue chatting with Obsidian. Unlike Pavlov, she didn't get a sense of danger from the larger mare. On the contrary, she thought Obsidian might make a wonderful target... er... fighter.... er.... friend! But Pavlov was getting that odd squeaky pitch in his voice that meant he was getting ready to go into full blown panic mode. Which was just slightly more serious than his usual nervous, panic mode.

"Yes, we'll be leaving," Pavlov said quickly, his glance darting between the mare and Zah. "We really do have other places to be, many of them..."

Zahavah sighed. "Oh, alright. We'll go," she muttered. Clearly they weren't going to make any progress with this particular mare.
“Oh, no, no, no,” Obsidian shook her head, causing the snake to hiss an objection. “You can’t leave, no, no, no. Too soon, too boring. Stay! Play awhile… Have a bit of fun…” Oh, the fun they could have, if he would just stick around. He spoke with such sweet terror… so what would he sound like screaming with the same? What would it take? A well timed ‘boo!’? Or maybe more… would he respond better to physical pain? Verbal? Or maybe… Her empty eye sockets slid to the little orange mare that he seemed so fond of.

"I think we've had more than enough fun for one day," Pavlov said backing away slowly, ensuring that Zahavah stayed with him. "So we'll just be leaving now..."

Zahavah kept pace with him, though part of her still thought he was over reacting.
With a less than sane giggle, Obsidian matched him step for step, keeping the distance between them. "No leaving, no, no, no."
