Cy couldn't help but mirror her smile with one of his own. He liked her smile. It was genuine and it lit up her whole face.
"Well, don't you technically work for him as well?" he smirked and looked back to his soup. "It can be hard work. This trip especially proved that. But I find it to be rewarding. I'm sure many would not." Randomly, Elora's words about not letting him use him too much came into his mind. He never felt as if he did. "He can be demanding," he admitted with a small smirk.

"Hmm, yes I suppose I do, or at least pay rent to him." She shrugged, as long as she could do what she enjoyed then it was all well and good. "Yes I'm sure it must have its perks. I see you around the Rose Garden a lot." She smirked and raised an eyebrow as she placed the cheesecake down in front of him."

Cyrus smirked at her observation and he sat back a little.
"What are you doing around the Rose Garden so much?" he challenged and lifted a dark brow. "The mistress, Elora, she works for Isambard. She is not quite in so deep as I am with him, but she does what he asks. So it is not so strange for me to be there often," he half explained. For some reason, he did not want to tell her why he was truly there so often.

Anais laughed and took her seat up again.
"I'm not around there so often, I deliver to one of the establishments there, I've seen you there quite a bit." She smirked a little as he told her it was all strictly business and picked her drink back up. "The women there are a little stuck up, no offence."

"Well, when all you have left is your vanity and it gets played up to all day, every day, I am sure that would go to most women's heads," Cy smirked and lifted his drink to take a small sip. "I take no offense to the truth," he shrugged. "Does the Rose Garden disgust you? It does most people it seems."

That was a loaded question. Now how did she answer it?
"Well, it's tough. It disgusts me that women;s loss of dignity gets exploited like that. They might have had tough lives, but we all have. Every single one of us that's here. They don't have to resort to selling themselves. But I suppose if that's what they want to do then they should be looked after."

He liked her answer. It was honest and nonjudgmental. It was practical.
"And they are well looked after there. Elora makes sure of it," Cy smiled and nodded a little. "You are very clever Anais. I hope that you know that."

"Oh, I know." Anais grinned. "I didn't get where I am without being clever. If I wasn't I'd probably be working for Madame Elora." She raised an eyebrow. "I suppose at least the girls have companionship. I've just got myself here and my lovely customers of course."

Cyrus finished his stew and bread and pulled the cheesecake closer to him. He was glad she didn't work for Elora. The girls were nice, but they blended in. She stood out to him and she did not deserve to be passed around like they were.
"I understand that," he said quietly. "I have Isambard, but he is not exactly a companion. Beyond him, I do not have many others." Except for Elora, he admitted to himself. But even that did not feel quite right to him. "Perhaps that is part of why I enjoy coming here so often," he smiled honestly.

Anais smiled at him.
"Well I like you coming in here, you're one of my nicer customers, you actually seem interested in what I'm up to." She smirked a little, most people were only interested in talking about themselves, of course she would listen nicely and talk back, but it was hardly a conversation.

Cy smiled at her reply and took his first bite of dessert. Closing his eyes, he savoured it very happily for a few moments before smiling and looking back at her.
"This is divine Anais. You are an exceptional talent," he smiled warmly and continued to dig in. After a moment, he glanced around and then looked back to her. "You should close up. It doesn't look like this rain is going to let up any time soon and everyone knows that stew is better the next day after it has sat," he smirked slightly.

"Oh so you're the expert now are you?" She asked, looking out at the rain sluicing down the window. "Though very right. Maybe I will close up. Not sure what i'd do with myself though. Cooking keeps me busy."

"Well, you can't deny it to be truth," Cy smirked as he finished up his cheesecake. Smirking a little more at her musings, he pushed his plate away and glanced around again. "Is there anything you might need some help with? I'm not much looking forward to heading back out into that any time soon."

"Well, I have some furniture I need to fix up, some pictures to hang. You could help me to do that if you're not doing anything else." She shrugged, she could certainly do with some muscle and height to do things she couldn't.

"I would be very happy to help you," Cy smiled and nodded to her. He really was glad to help her too. It meant that he would not have to return to the Rose Garden and Elora's attentions, or his lonely home within Isambard's apartments. For the first time since returning home from his journey, he felt truly replenished. "I will wash these dishes while you put your food away and then you can tell me what you need for me to do."
