"Yep!" Her questions got quite the smile out of him, considering Dominic always loved talking about his stuff whenever someone asked. He wasn't great with taking compliments, but answering questions was a whole other story. The guy could go on for a while about his projects and things if someone let him. "And I do, yeah. Always have as far as I can remember. I was the kid putting together a one-hundred piece puzzle during playtime in elementary school," he said with a bit of a laugh.
"Wow," Dom said with a nod and a rather impressed smile. "So I'm guessing you like to run, then?" the guy joked. He knew she liked to exercise, but he never realized exactly how much. It was nice to see someone as into their hobby as he was into his, admittedly, and he was glad to learn a bit more about her, too. The waitress came just as she voiced her agreement with his idea, which he was relieved to hear, and he made a mental note to remember to be the one to invite her for a jog next time.
Their orders were promptly taken and she left with a polite smile, returning only briefly to set a pair of drinks on the table before leaving Dominic to sip at the water she'd delivered as Talia brought up Valentine's. He put on an amused look and leaned back then, not really sure how to answer at first. Honesty was always his thing, though, so after letting out a breath he rolled his shoulders in a shrugging motion. "I don't usually make plans for that day," he said after a beat, a small smile tugging the corners of his lips up again. "Something about the expectations, I think." There was another pause then, and he added, "And I also usually forget."
It was meant to be a joke, actually, but it was also very true. It was a story he'd rather not share, but if she asked... He smirked at the thought, sipping a bit more of his water. "You?" he then returned, and rather lamely at that. "Has some guy already worked up the nerve to ask?" he went on, grinning.chimarii I'm not a big fan of pink, though baby pink does make me smile. >w<;; Uhh, how 'bout some powered stuff for a change of pace? Could still be on Valentine's, just.. later at night? 8D;

Talia laughed at the idea of a smaller Dominic playing with puzzles. It was kind of cute, really. From what she was told, when she was little all she did was talk too much.
"Oh I love it. I think better when I'm moving," she commented in response to running. "My mom says I should've been a dancer." She smiled, thinking that dancing would have been fun. She liked math too much though.
Tensing up a little bit, she smoothly eased in, "Oh? No plans for me either ..." She'd had one friend asked if she wanted to join their girls night out, but Talia had denied. Call it crazy, but she had a good premonition that there were plans in her future ... "Well ... do you want to go on a date?" she asked breezily, not a hint of nervousness in her voice. If there was one virtue Talia possessed, it was the nerves of steel. Boldness came easily to her. "I mean like a date. Not just coffee at the jitter bean." She laughed, poking a little bit of fun at herself in the process.
If he said no, things were about to get super awkward.

Dom narrowed his eyes in thought, his lips curling into a small smile as he imagined Talia dancing instead of in a room full of former Mathletes and AcaDeca participants. The notion even got a little laugh out of him, before he sipped his drink again. "Somehow I don't have too hard a time picturing you as a dancer," he said with a laugh before sipping at his water again. "But then it's easier picturing you in a jogging outfit, and a little more comfortable, so I think you're good."
At her answer he raised his brows in relative surprise. Talia being the pretty girl that she was, Dominic was almost certain she'd at least been asked out already. Maybe she was just being polite? Not that it was really his business at all, but what followed next definitely caught him off guard. Thankfully the fact that the waitress had come just around that time, a knowing smile on her face as she served their food and drinks before excusing herself, so he had a bit of extra time think.
It wasn't a very hard decision, if he were to be completely honest, and he smiled.
"Two conditions: I'm doing the planning," he started, pausing for a bit. That one was more because it was enough that she brought the idea to the table; he didn't want her to be the one to plan the whole thing, too. Dom picked up a chip that came with his set and popped it into his mouth, keeping his eyes on hers as he waited for her to agree to the first stipulation before he went on.

Talia squinted, wondering just how much time Dom had dedicated to "picturing" her in his spare time. She chose not to say anything though. For now.
With her salad in front of her now, she began munching as he responded somewhat oddly. He wanted to plan it? Why?
Considering Talia was a pretty controlling person, it took a bit of patience to not immediately respond no. It was hard to hand over the reigns, but if she didn't there'd be no date. Talia could let go for a date.
"Ooookay. Sort of a weird request," she put another bushel of leaves into her mouth and chewed quickly before swallowing. The bite gave her enough time to think of what to say. "How come? Do you have something planned already?" Even if she doubted it was the reason for his forwardness, the thought of him already having a date ready for her was kind of cute.

Probably might not be too good a thing if she ever did find out how often he pictured her. Since that morning jog, at least, it was maybe a little too often. Not that he'd volunteer that information. Hell, it'd probably take a few mind games before she got him to spill.
In any case, he waited patiently for her answer first, nibbling on a fry and sipping his drink in the meantime. What he got wasn't a straight out "no," but it wasn't a "yes" either. Still, the smile stayed. "Why weird?" he shot back first, then at her following questions the smile actually widened a bit.
"Kinda," he admitted. It was more a half-truth; he had an idea about where to take her, though romantic was probably among the furthest descriptors applicable to the activity he had in mind. Honestly? A date, to him, in any form, was two kids going and hanging out with a bit of affection splashed in to flavor the atmosphere. The fact that it was potentially a Valentine's Day date was...unfortunately, kind of lost to him. But he wasn't an idiot.
Not all girls were into the flowers and chocolates and other stuff that was advertised for the holiday. Which was kind of what he was banking on considering it was Talia he was thinking about.
But still he raised his brows, amusement and perhaps a bit of a playful look on his face. "If that's a 'yes,' the other condition is simple: you can't get mad if I'm late. If, 'cause I can be pretty good with that if I wanna be." If the smile was any indication, then yeah, he really wanted to be on time for that.chimarii I am so sorry I suck. OTL

Unfortunately for Dom, Talia's idea of a date was a very romantic occasion. Even this minor coffee date was riddled with girly emotional romantic fantasies.
"Alright fine it's a yes," she said, lips curling into a smile of satisfaction. "But I get a condition too. You have to dress up a little~"
What? She liked it when boys cleaned themselves up a little. Sue her.

His smile widened and possibly even brightened all the more when she finally agreed, and he popped another chip into his mouth, chewed and swallowed before nodding and waving a hand at her condition. "Done and done," he said with a smile. "I clean up pretty well, if I do say so myself, so I wouldn't mind getting dressed up a little."
Dom took another bite of his sandwich and let a small silence fall between them, the cogs in his brain already formulating what could possibly be an awesome Valentine's Date. Of course, he didn't know how romantic a date she was expecting, but he genuinely hoped she'd appreciate whatever plot he came up with. Before he spoke again, he made a mental note to ask a few of his female friends for some pointers to make sure he stayed roughly on the right track.
"So, since that's that..." and he went on to talk about a topic of interest that wasn't related to their Valentine's Day date, engaging the Talia Chu in conversation while on their little lunch date. Maybe the first of many? Hey, nothing wrong with being optimistic.chimarii Hope you don't mind if we close this up here~ ^^; Tell me if you do! o-o 'Cause I can definitely edit and stuff. :>
