Panic finished his seconds; then, since he was full, he wandered after Peace, looking around the area with almost childlike fascination as he did so.

Panic just shrugged, giving her a sheepish look and firmly ignoring the little voice in his head urging him to look at Peace's undergarments (Orange really needed to learn some restraint). "What can I say? I've got a healthy appetite - it's really more along the lines of eight or nine people, though, not six," he added as an afterthought. "And yeah, that tour sounds nice."

"Sounds good to me," Panic agreed readily, following her and looking around with interest; he'd never really been outside Eggman's base.

Meanwhile, in another location...

"All right, Tails, exactly what is it you wanted to show us?" Sonic asked, the famous trio gathered around their two-tailed friend; the blue hedgehog was still pretty beat up from earlier, but some basic first aid had nursed him back to health.
"It's about that white hedgehog you were fighting earlier," Tails explained, typing away commands to his computer as Sonic and Knuckles leaned over his shoulder. "I managed to hack into a few of Eggman's security cameras, and when I was recording past footage, I found something pretty interesting." He pressed a button, and the footage started to play...

Panic stared warily at the swarm of robots just waiting for the order to attack him. "Look, Doctor, I know I need to get faster and stronger in order to defeat Sonic and help you regain your rightful place as ruler... but are you sure this is safe?"
"Probably not, Panic," Eggman's voice answered from out of the camera's view, "but you won't be fast enough or strong enough to defeat that blue menace and his allies if you don't push yourself and try to find out as much about this Spectrum Force of yours as you can - as they say, 'no pain, no gain'. I may have created you, but I can't automatically make you stronger - I'm not THAT good at genetic engineering. Now, today, we'll be working on your multi-power capabilities; no using any of your personalities unless you're doing at least two at a time, and try not to let Black Panic out this time - we don't need him destroying the place again. Aaand... START!"
Immediately the robots began swarming Panic, the white hedgehog immediately gaining red streaks in his fur and starting to attack with fireballs and fists of flame. As the battle rolled on, Panic just kept changing colors, his abilities changing with them, until Panic was the only being left standing in a room full of scrap metal, panting as his fur color returned to white.

Tails ended the footage at that point, and Sonic spoke up, sounding rather indignant. "Blue menace?!? He's the menace here!"
"Sonic, you're missing the point here. From this footage, we can conclude three things. Firstly, Panic was created in Eggman's laboratory. Secondly, judging from Eggman's comments, Panic has some strange form of split-personality disorder. The different colors he changes into seem to signify different personalities, and each personality seems to have its own unique ability." Tails then frowned slightly. "And then there's the third thing... think about their dialogue at the start of the footage. Didn't it seem a little... off?"
Sonic blinked, looking rather thoughtful at that one. "Actually, yeah... I mean, sure, it wouldn't have been out of place if Eggman was the good guy, but as it is, it was pretty odd."
"Exactly," Tails confirmed. "Think about it, Sonic - being a genetically engineered being, Panic probably never had contact with anyone but Eggman and his robots. That means he'd accept anything Eggman told him without question, so if Eggman told him that we were the bad guys..."
"...Then he'd accept that, because he wouldn't know any better," Sonic finished, understanding dawning.
"Wait... so this Panic guy isn't evil, just brainwashed?"
"Definitely seems that way," Tails agreed.
"Well then, let's find him and set the record straight!" Knuckles declared.
Of course, the three were oblivious to a certain black and red hedgehog slipping away; he'd heard all he needed to, and now he had a fellow artificial life form to help out...

"That's the one; we're almost positive he's brainwashed, though," Tails explained helpfully.

Panic was similarly enjoying his time with her, pointedly ignoring Orange Panic's comments in his head and occasionally getting a fruit off a tree for a snack.

"I think it's more mental conditioning than trigger brainwashing,"[/gold] Tails reasoned. "After all, Eggman created and raised him away from everyone else, so he wouldn't know anything but what Eggman told him..."
"And since Eggman's probably been telling him we're the bad guys, he won't listen to a word we say unless we can prove it," Sonic finished.
"Right; still, it's probably best not to rule out the possibility of a trigger. It probably won't be a name, though - too much risk of a slip-up," Tails reasoned.

Panic began asking questions about their surroundings, completely oblivious to a certain black hedgehog following them from the shadows (pun not intended).

(Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. xd )

"I'm afraid the explosion from that last attack made it difficult to calculate his trajectory," Tails answered before pulling out a small device. "However, I noticed that he's constantly emitting small amounts of a strange radiation; if we start at the site of his and Sonic's battle, I should be able to track him that way."

Eventually, however, the two of them came upon a black hedgehog leaning against a nearby tree. Panic blinked in surprise, eying him warily; he opened his mouth, only for the hedgehog to speak up. "You'd be Panic, then?"
Panic blinked again, his expression turning puzzled. "Er... yeah, that's me."

(Unfortunately, I only saw the first one or two episodes of that anime.)

"You can come with us if you want - we could use the backup," Sonic offered; she had gotten better about the whole trying-to-get-his-attention thing after all.

"Only on occasion," Shadow answered shortly, still watching Panic.
Panic tensed slightly, getting ready for a fight, but glanced over at Shadow curiously. "Shadow the Hedgehog... created as the Ultimate Life Form, neutral party, and saved Earth from the Black Arms despite having their DNA." He then looked the black hedgehog over once more and blinked. "...I honestly thought you'd be taller."
