With all the boards in place, he gave it a tug to make sure no more nails were needed and then sighed. "That should hold for a night at least. Might still leak a bit. I'd put some towels down but..." He looked down at the ground where water and glass littered the place.

"We should clean up before you get mold under your carpet." At least there was an upside to all of this. If it was one thing he liked after such a stressful thing, it was cleaning. "You wouldn't have a vacuum, would you? If not, I can grab one." That would get most o the glass up. the rest would need to be picked out of the carpet.

Yes, Melvin was staying for cleanup.

Otto looked down as Melvin did, grimacing at the mess. How was he supposed to clean this up? A broom? Clueless and irritated, he huffed roughly. Upsetting. This was the worst night.

He looked up as Melvin pitched in with advice. Well then... that made things a little easier. "I think Molly keeps that stuff in the closet..." He mumbled, looking over his shoulder. "She cleans my room all the time..." Hopefully Jeremy wasn't using his closet as a bedroom again...

Said closet was, of course, a walk in closet. It was full of clothes, folded neatly or hung on hangers. The neat organization was also thanks to Molly's mothering. Hoodies, tee shirts, sweat pants and a small assortment of jeans lined the walls. Hats took up a shelf on their own, though most seemed to have been vandalized with cat ears. Hence Otto's reluctance to wear hats anymore.

Melvin walked over to where Otto was heading and again wanted to strangle the shorter blonde. He even reached out behind him as if ready to snap his neck, but pulled his hands back to look around instead. "Molly, huh? Is she your girlfriend?" He asked, checking the place out. Melvin was just as noisy in looking around as he was in conversation, and inspected a hat with cat ears on it with a raised brow.

"Here I thought you were just very tidy." He looked at the hat and then to Otto. "Do you...have a thing for ears?" He said, pointing to the hat.

Melvin was forgetting about the vacuum in lieu of gaining information again.

"No." Otto replied quickly. "She's not." He wasn't sure how to describe Molly. Most people already knew her. "She's just... very mother hen.. like."

Otto sneered at the hat, and Melvin's assumptions. He grabbed the hat back and tossed it over his shoulder. "Kat did that. She's ********' relentless. All cause I told her I hate coffee."

He huffed and fished out the vacuum.

"That's pretty serious." He said, looking at another hat. "About hating coffee. She must have a key to your room then if she can take it out on your hats." He was making open assumptions in hopes of clarification. "So Kat is with you?" He asked.

He turned when he saw the vacuum and was glad it wasn't the cheapest thing he had ever seen. He took it, assuming Otto didn't know how to use it that well and not wanting him to electrocute himself if he decided to shove it into a wet socket somewhere.

"If you can find a broom there too, I'd take that out. There are bound to be bigger pieces the vacuum can't pick up." He informed him, and slowly headed out.

Damn big closet. His room could probably fit in here. This was BS!

That also chilled him to the bone. How was she even able to walk right on in? That terrifying b***h.

Otto scoffed at the assumption he was with Kat. "Are you nuts? NO! Are you just gunna ask that every time I mention a girl?" He growled out in irritation. Melvin was presumptuous, as he remembered. His lip curled in disgust, grabbing a broom angrily from the corner.

"Yeah yeah.." He grouched out, roughly sweeping up the glass into a pile. At least he was helping him. This irritation was a small price to pay.

Melvin did not care about the irritation as it seemed to be the norm with anyone he talked with. He got on people's nerves, but then again, some people were just touchy. "You said before that you had a girlfriend. I just assume that a girl you trust with a key to your apartment would be coming over for girlfriend reasons and not to mother up your room." Again, he felt Otto was just a little young. Most guys who went so far as to give a girl a key to their room were not giving the key so they could have their shirts folded or their hats defaced.

He found a dry plug and then started to suck up the glass and once finished, turned it off and rolled the chord back up. He didn't know who Molly was, but it sounded like a woman who he could support. Tidy, neat, though she probably should lecture Otto in being his own adult and taking care of himself. Maybe she was just one of those women that, knowing they couldn't have kids, decided to adopt Otto. Who knew?

"Had a girlfriend." He argued stubbornly. "Neither of them have a key. Both of them broke in to do what they did."

"You seem to have a lot of meddling friends and poor security for such a nice room."

So not Kate and Molly. He would have to wonder what young girl was around for Otto to even be with, unless there was a cougar racing about for some young-looking trophy boyfriend. Bronze trophy.

Like you are a gold one.

He chose to ignore Saliva as he put the vacuum back and then headed back where Otto was. "So, not Kate and Molly then...." He let the sentence linger before looking at the floor. "Have any towels you aren't using at the moment. We can get some of this water soaked up at least. You could probably get the rest dried with a blow dryer."

Of course Melvin was assuming that Otto actually owned a blow dryer.

"I attract meddlers." Grumbling, he left to set the broom back in the closet. He walked back to the damp carpet, scratching his damp hair and wondering what to do next.

He sighed heavily. Melvin wouldn't let up. He was like a gossipy old lady. "Eva. Her name is Eva." He gave up the info, simply so he wouldn't get bothered about it any more. He prayed he didn't ask why they broke up. That was a whole other can of worms.

"Blow dryer? Only chics use blow dryers." Scoffed the teen. "Towels are in the bathroom. Are we seriously gunna use those for this? Gross." He only had two, after all.

He gave Otto another long stare. "You say a blow dryer is for chicks and yet get huffy over towels?" He let that case just rest itself.

"Towels can be washed. If you want, you can find a big roll of paper towels and use those, but I don't know what you have on hand. You need something to soak up all this water because leaving it as is is going to make it stay damp under your carpet and then it's going to start to smell." He really didn't know why Otto was even questioning him on this. He was, between the two of them, the expect. No, he was an expect to most people on the island when it came to cleaning.

Looking at Otto's damp hair, he sighed. "If you get something else to dry up with, grab a towel anyways. You're soaked and you should dry off." He informed him. Wet hair was also very gross. Melvin touched his wet knitted hat and, now that it was comprised, reluctantly took it off. There was no point in wearing a soaked hat. He now debated taking off his sweater too as he was wearing a t-shirt underneath. He did at least take off his jacket. It wasn't good being damp, and he set that on a chair arm along with the hat.

He ran a hand over his short, blonde hair, and regretted it. It was too strange.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 01, 2014 5:19 pm

"Uh, yeah?" He didn't get why that was a hard concept. A good quick towel dry was all his hair needed. Why use a blow dryer? Ami had used one on his hair before, sure, but he didn't own one himself. However, Otto simply got extra huffy when he was upset or irritated.

Apparently he was always both of those feelings when around Melvin.

"Waste of paper towels... I'll just grab the towels." He grumbled, sulking as he headed to the bathroom to grab them.

He returned, drying his hair with one towel before he had to sacrifice it to the soaking carpet. He tossed one of them at Melvin, even though he seemed dryer now that he'd stripped off some layers. Lucky b*****d.

He caught the towel and then went over to try soaking up some of the water, bending down and pressing the towel against the carpet. It would probably take a few times of wringing the towel out into the sink, but he was fine with that. "So.." He said, not at all giving up on the previous conversation.

"Why did you two break up?"

No, Otto. You weren't that lucky.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 01, 2014 5:29 pm

Otto groaned, pressing the towel into the carpet even harder after being asked that question. Melvin was helping him out, and the teen felt he could at least divulge into the man's curiosity as payment. Then he wouldn't owe him.

"We barely saw each other, and she always just treated me as a friend the whole year we were together." He admitted with hesitation, head down so he could pretend Melvin wasn't there. He knew he needed to be clear, or else the other blond would come to his own conclusions. "It wasn't like I didn't try to make it grow, but... she wasn't all that receptive. She never really confided in me, and we kissed all of once on our one and only date we had."

He checked the carpet before pulling out a piece of glass that had clung to the carpet fibers and avoided both broom and vacuum. "Rough. I don't know Eva, but she seems like she wasn't at the point to date, or maybe she had bigger issues." Again, openly guessing for the sake of conversation.

He returned to soaking up rain water with the towel. "Was the breakup mutual, or did one of you realize it wasn't working out?"
