I'm Pulling The Strings Here!

Username: jinxgirl5
Name of Bowl: Toshiaki ( Japanese name meaning "bright and alert/clever/happy". It is not symbolic of what is is, but a wish for what he might become. )
Boy or Girl?: Boy

Personality: As a kit - Toshiaki is a purposeful fellow who has his own way of doing things and will be stubborn about them. For example he insists on being called Aki. Not because he dislikes his full name, but because Soeri has trouble speaking long words and he wants to make it easier for her. He also refers to his mothers by their names, so he isn't confusing people and having them wonder which "Mom" he's referring to. Of course if he happens to be talking directly with his mothers he reverts to using maternal titles, since they know perfectly well who he is talking about. You could say that all his little stubborn insistences that might seem odd are, at the heart of it, making things easier for others, though if you point that out to him he'll just shrug, blush a little, and respond, "It's easier that way."

He's a calm kid with a lot of courage and determination. When he sets his mind to doing something he will complete the task no matter what obstacles appear in his path. This means you'll have to keep an eye on him, otherwise he'll periodically vanish, get into things he shouldn't or turn up in a place you'd rather he didn't go. He doesn't mean to cause trouble, and actually he rarely does. He's not shy but he does regard strangers like a new species to be examined, and he's not talkative but he is curious and not afraid to start up a conversation.

Toshiaki adores both his mothers. Soeri's oddities don't bother him in the slightest. However he is terrified of the creepy sounds in the house, and in particular the ghosts that inhabit it. The only one he's seen is the ghost boy, but he'd heard others before. He knows Soeri likes the ghost boy and he would never make his mother unhappy by saying anything, but he avoids the attic like there's a plague attached to it. Towards his siblings he's highly supportive. He'll keep secrets, be a shoulder to lean on, offer advice when they need it, protect them when they falter. Of course like any brother he will tease them from time to time, but all in good fun and not to hurt or cause distress.

As an adult - The basics will still be the same. Toshiaki's still a fellow with his own way of doing things that he will insist on, helpful without admitting to it. He will still have a strong sense of determination to finish tasks he starts no matter how difficult they seem to become. People watching will become something of a hobby for him. He likes to know things; what can they do, what makes them tick, what makes the unique. He never judges on what he finds, for he understands that pasts mold people into who they are and having not been there to personally witness them he gives people the benefit of the doubt that they did the best they could with what they were given.

His feelings towards his family will also be quite the same as when he was a child, with the exception that spooks do not frighten him now. He is at ease in the big house with all its whispers and creepy shadows, but he still will not go into the attic unless he is specifically invited up.

Prompt: 1

Aki wandered the halls of the big house that was his home. There was no one here but him and Soeri; Kora had taken his brothers and sister out to run errands, and it had been his turn to stay home with Soeri. She didn't like going out in public and no one liked the thought of leaving her all alone. Things had started out calm enough. He kept Soeri company in the kitchen while she made them lunch and helped her straighten up afterwards. They did a bit of light cleaning, then played some games. Soeri even did a little dance for him, just a short thing that looked very puppet-like. Aki had laughed and asked for more, but Soeri just smiled and demurred his request with, "Perhaps another time."

He'd thought she was happy, but maybe he'd been wrong. Not long after the dance he noticed Soeri getting a strange look on her face, almost sad and wistful, and she kept looking at the stairs. Aki had been hungry and asked for a snack. She went to get it, but never came back. Worried, Aki called and, when she didn't respond, went looking. There was juice and some crackers on the table, but no sign of Soeri.

So now back to the present. Aki was slowly going through the halls, calling softly for Soeri and peering into the rooms. Some of them were closed, with layers of dust on the doorknobs showing no one had been in them in a while. Some of the rooms scared him. They felt cold, even though warm sunshine spilled in through the windows. The dark halls were worse; Aki could swear he heard whispering coming from everywhere and nowhere, so soft that he almost wondered if he imagined the sounds. Finally he made it through all the house save one area. The attic.

Aki didn't go up there. None of his siblings did. It wasn't precisely forbidden but it felt wrong, like they were intruding on something. He stood at the foot of the steps, hesitating, when a whisper of sound reached his ears. Soeri? No, it was too clear and high, not his mother's voice. Then a soft, rasping gargle of a laugh. Aki gathered up every ounce of courage his little body possessed and slowly began to climb the stairs. He reached the top, and peeked very slowly into the room.

There was Soeri, and she was dancing again. Something about it seemed different though. It was like she was only half in control, like she wasn't sure where she might go next, but the movements were so smooth they seemed effortless on her part. There was a moment where Aki could almost swear her feet left the ground! She would quietly laugh, and from time to time talk. He couldn't make out all the words, but it sounded like she was asking about the dancing. Like someone was watching, or dictating her moves? Then that high voice sounded again, giggling. Soeri paused in her dance, in a position that should have been difficult, if not impossible to hold! By then Aki's eyes had adjusted to the dim light in the room. There, floating in the area above his mother, was a small dark shape. Aki felt like his heart had stopped. Then it turned, and fixed Aki with a pair of bright, glowing eyes.

Aki fled. He had never been so terrified in his life! As he ran downstairs for the safety of the living room (and the fluffy pillows he planned to hide behind) he could have sworn that high, child-like giggle followed him down each step.

Future Plots: Depending on how he comes out, if he looks very puppet-like, I will add an elaboration to how that affects his outlook with his personality. It won't actually change things; if anything it'll just make him more curious to learn about the differences in people. I would like family roleplay, or backstory if we all get caught up with life, cause I see him being very close to all of them.

I think he'll be very spiritually sensitive from having grown up in that house, perhaps even being a medium of sorts, though I don't see him flaunting the fact around for profit or curiosity seekers if that does happen. I think he'll wind up being a librarian or a researcher of sorts, since he likes knowing things but isn't the type to give personal advice unless asked and he feels he knows the person well enough to offer advice in the first place. For romance I see him settling with someone kinda....quiet? Not like bold, feisty, in-your-face- BAM, if that makes sense, and he would want to truly settle, not wander. I would like to actually see someone with problems who starts as someone he is helping, so that it begins as a friendship kind of relationship and then develops into romance. Perhaps they have a spirit haunting them, or they had a very traumatic past and are "haunted" by that. Maybe they're a creature of the spirit world themselves and have trouble finding someone who can accept the fact without being weird about it. Something like that.

Jooruri - "Talks like this"
Me - Talks like this

I'm Pulling The Strings Here!

Username: "The human offering to take care of me? Isn't her name, uuuh....Jinx! Yea, that's it!" jinxgirl5
Name of Bowl: "My name is Jooruri." Jooruri is the dramatic narrative which accompanies a Bunraku puppet show
Boy or Girl?: "Um, excuse me? Can't you tell I'm a lady?" Female

Personality: As a kit - "Well I like mysteries and puzzles. I love spooky stories the best, but my mommas don't want me to scare myself so I keep most of 'em hidden. I think I'm a pretty nice person! I get into trouble sometimes, sure, but I can take care of myself."
Jooruri is full of spunk and energy and has more than a cat's share of curiosity. This kitten is absolutely fearless and loves to explore and pounce on things like the mighty hunter she images herself to be. She's very difficult to rattle since she's the kind to stand her ground and fight rather than run. Of course all of this gets her in her fair share of trouble, but she always manages to find her way out of it somehow.

She loves rough snuggles, getting all cozied in a pile and then chomping on a limb or batting at a tail. She can be very sweet when you're having an off day though. When upset herself she tends to sulk in corners or under furniture until someone finds a way to distract her. She loves chewing on all her brothers and proving she's in charge, though it doesn't cross her mind that maybe that's deliberate on their part. Jooruri view parental authority as something to be gotten around, but she loves both her mothers.

As an adult - "I was probably a handful for my moms when I was little! I've still got a lot of energy now, but I like to think it's more directed instead of distracting. I use that energy to hunt ghosts. Most stuff is harmless, but for the cases of bad hauntings I'd like to be able to help people out. I don't startle easy. I don't like being coddled or treated like I'm helpless, but I don't mind a bit of attention and consideration."
Jooruri is still full of all kinds of spunk, but her energy is more applied now. She took her love of scary ghost stories and decided to become a paranormal investigator. She's solid, and despite an active imagination she first assumes natural causes over supernatural until proven otherwise. She doesn't seem to have a method, but she's quite skilled and has a lot of knowledge in that skull of her. When not on a case she's very like a giant cat. She loves napping in sunlight, rough-housing with her brothers, or following her nose to delicious treats.

Jooruri has a lot of self-confidence. Of course people are going to like her! If they don't, well that's their problem and it's no skin off her nose. Despite coming off as selfish or shallow she is very caring of the people in her life. She'll drop whatever she's doing if she senses someone is in a bad mood and see if she can maybe help fix things. She hates with a passion being unable to help people, even if logically she knows you can't win 'em all.

Because of her job (or hobby, as some might call it) Jooruri travels a lot, but the big house where her mother live has always been home and is always the place she returns to.

Prompt: 3

"Right, now listen up and hold all questions until after the story. So my house is this big, old place. Really creaky and makes all sorts of weird noises. Like the perfect setting for a country horror movie. Not that I've seen any to know, nope! But there was this one movie I s-...heard about, where they found secret passages in this old house and discovered things that showed them how to defeat the monster. So I decided to go exploring, see if maybe there was anything like that in our house.

Well! First of all I had to slip past both my moms. I mean there are parts of the house they really don't want us wandering around, cause they think we might get hurt. And it was pretty boring at first, just a bunch of rooms filled with dust and white sheets over furniture. I have no idea why. Nothing interesting in any of them. Well then I found this thing that looked like a cabinet in the wall in what might have been an old bedroom. I crawled in to see if there was anything inside, and wham! Door shut, and suddenly I was falling! It didn't last too long, but it kinda hurt a bit. It was really quiet, and pitch black. There was another door at least, but I had to push really hard to get it open.

Oh gosh, this room was creepy! It was very dark, and probably the only reason I could see at all was cause there was a couple small, dingy old windows high up on the walls and some cracks in the ceiling. It was all damp and full of rusted junk. Well I couldn't go back the way I came, so I had to find a new way out. I was poking around and managed to find lots of cool stuff, but it was real spooky cause I kept hearing these noises. Probably rats, though I never actually saw them.

There was this one thing in the room that just didn't seem to fit. I mean everything else was kinda dingy, but this desk looked real clean. It had a lot of shelves built in it and I poked around a bit. Mostly papers that were hard to read, some stuff about toys that weren't toys and some person who was causing something and needed to be saved before it was too late? I dunno, it all sounded weird and I couldn't tell what the dude was rambling about. The last bits I found talked about "doing it tonight" and never coming back after setting someone free? Yea, weird. Well when I finished that I noticed it was very cold in the room, colder than it was when I got in here. It was also getting darker. I started looking for stairs or something, since I didn't think I could go back up the way I got down. And guys, I swear something was following me. I don't know what, but I could hear this raspy breathing, not like Mom but like someone just out of breath in a bad way. I thought I saw this dark shadow moving around, and I swear I heard something muttering!

Well I moved around a bit faster and found some stairs at last. I couldn't shake the feeling that something was behind me the whole way up. And this is the creepiest part. I got to the door and I could barely reach the handle, but it was locked. Could not open it. I was starting to think I should call for help, when the door made a click sound, opened a little, something grabbed me, and pushed me through the door. I even stumbled a little, it shoved me so hard. Then the door actually slammed shut, and the knob clicked again. And guys, I dunno if I was imagining it cause I was freaking out at that point, but I could swear I heard, right before the door closed, "Stay out!". Lemme tell you, I haven't been near that room since! I wanna ask Mom about it, but I think it might be better to wait 'til I'm a little older, so she doesn't flip out.
"

Future Plots: "Well there's probably lots of people out there who are haunted by bad things that might need help. There might even be some spirits out there who need help! Some don't know they're dead, and just need a little nudge to see the light and move on. I'll figure the rest of my life out as I go. You never know what will happen or who you'll meet while traveling!"
Kit roleplay or backstory would be awesome, since I'd like to establish at least a family dynamic and how they all feel about each other. When she grows up I'm gonna work on some backstory involving her paranormal investigations. If Yush wants we can involve the big house somehow, but otherwise it'll just be misc. places. If anyone has haunt problems and want to roleplay with me, that would also be nifty!
Romantically, I have no clue. Jooruri loves attention and praise, but if you overdo it that just turns her off. She also loves food, especially sushi and curry. Sometimes she likes sweets too, but she has to be in the mood for them. Perhaps she could meet a chef, or a fellow paranormal investigator? She can mesh with a lot of personality types, so long as they have no problem with her, so really it's all about discovering a story. It should be a fun road when something does happen though.

I'm Pulling The Strings Here!

Username: -Yasha Alchemist
Name of Bowl: Karakuri (Means "mechanisms" or "trick", Karakuri ningyō are mechanized puppets used from 17th - 19th cen. shows. :])
Boy or Girl?: Giiiirl

Personality: Confident. Clever. Charming. She’s a sweet little kitty, looking for a hand to bite. No she’s not mean, taking chances and nibbling on people are always in good fun. Karakuri can walk around confidently even if no one stands beside her. Spooky noises don’t usually have her running…. she not one to go investigate it either though. She hears her Soeri momma talking to ghosts and would rather not deal with such things! Little does she know she talks to a young girl who is a ghost. Being the only daughter she wanted something of a sister and this girl suddenly showed up…. she won’t find out the this girl is a ghost until she is much older.

Prompt: 1

She heard the words. They start out so softly, but then again mother’s voice was always soft. From where see was it was nothing but horse scratching like noise. It wasn’t pleasing the ears, but that was the voice she had always know. Karakuri frowned. “She must be talking to the weird ghost boy she talks about…” She disapproved of the idea of her mother talking to ghost. It seemed like such a weird problem. She had already gone through so much, why would she make up things like that? Her tail began to flick lightly as she began to look around the room. Darting from place to place, she didn’t miss a thing. Though what she saw, she easily brushed off as her imagination. She truly didn’t want to believe the sliver of a tail here or the silhouette over there. Anything she did see slipped out of her sight too quickly to even confirm if it was real. The young feline stepped out of the room. She wasn’t scared… no not at all. Just on to bigger and better things now. Kara held her head up high as she made her way around the house. She was going to her room to see if her sister was around. Upon opening the door, as if waiting for her, there was a small little fox even younger than her. The little one jumped up and bounded over to her, giving her a big hug.

“Mom’s being weird again…” Kara spoke softly.

The little girl was just another spirit lost in this house’ an off-white kit with long black hair that could of easily been tripped over. Karakuri never seemed to question where she came from, why she didn’t eat or any of those things. She was real to her and that’s all that mattered. Petting the top of the young girl’s head eased her. Her heavy lids starting draw her closer to dreamland. “When we wake up we should play. Hopefully Mom will be feeling better too…”

Future Plots:
Mmmn, not sure. Lots of family stuff, this group seems like that are going to be close and quirky. I like that. I want her to actually confront that her ‘little sister’ is not there. How strange that will be and the emotions she will have to go through with that. She so confident in that she doesn’t see ghosts. ; o;

Username: -Yasha Alchemist
Name of Bowl: Ningyō (Means meaning person and shape, but often translated as ‘puppet’. Karakuri ningyō are mechanized puppets used from 17th - 19th cen. shows. :])

Boy or Girl?: Boooy

Personality: Anxious. Obsessive. Shy. This little kitten is shy. Not so much scared like his mother is… but he does tend to enjoy hiding with her in the shadows. From the time he’s sent with his mom he’s learned to tink and obsessively fix objects. Redoing a dolls makeup, hair, ball joints even adjusting mommy’s ears if she needed it. The only time he doesn’t feel anxious is when he’s working on something…. When he’s not his usually freezes up and his voice cracks and is often hoarse.

Prompt: 3

Screeching. Creaking. Little voices that ran up your spine. He felt surrounded almost suffocating in this whirlwind of creepy noises. Where were his mother’s at? He needed them. He wanted to bury his face in their soft fur (or wooden body is fine too!) and their soft whispers that it would be okay. Ningyō panicked… He was normally not this big of fraidy cat, but anxiety was taking over his body. He felt frozen and speechless. Even if he could move where would he go? Who could he call when know one could hear him? The thoughts just adding the the emotional twister that plagued him. His tiny paws covering his eyes and he shook nervously in the unfamiliar setting.

Nin peeked up quickly just needed to make sure he was alone… but he wasn’t. Sitting in a chair on the opposite side of the room was a doll. He blinked, staring at it intently. She was not here a minute ago he would of noticed such a beautiful doll before. The doll was old, that was easy enough to tell but it was well taken care off. A little dusty, needed so combing done to her hair… Just little things needed to be done to get her back to the pristine condition she needed to be in. He still couldn’t move though, even if he wanted to. He just looked at the doll hoping something or someone wasn’t going to move it. Slowly he put one paw forward and got up. His little legs still trembling, edging closer and closer. Quicker than expected he was right up next to the doll. A smile arose to his muzzle, he was becoming smitten with the little doll. He was going to take her and fix her up and then he would make a display just for her…

A noise alerted him to the door. Turning to look, it was both of his mother’s. An even bigger sense of relief washed over him. “Look, look what I found!...” He turned to show them the doll but she was no longer sitting there. His paws merely resting on a dirty rocking chair. His ears slicked back in disappointment. He was not afraid or spooked out that it was gone but merely upset he would not be able fix her now… His mothers questioned him, but he only shook his head and remained quiet for the remainder of the evening.

Future Plots:
I think pulling away from Soeri! I think it will be very difficult and if he has to pull away from her he’s going to pull away from all of them and lock himself in some attic for a little while. He’s very weird so I want him to find happiness I’m just not sure what that will be yet… Maybe finding that doll again? I have a feeling this one is not so good unlike his mother. >.>

I'm Pulling The Strings Here!

Username: Depawsit
Name of Bowl: Automata -a moving mechanical device made in imitation of a human being [ A lot of them look very similar to puppets and some were even used as puppets ]
Boy or Girl?: Boy

Personality: Automata is very much like a puppet in the sense that just about anyone can tug his strings in the direction they want him to go. He is VERY easy to manipulate or ever just sway in one direction or the other. He's a pretty innocent little thing, and finds decisions very difficult to make on his own. So he goes to others in search of help with making them. Which makes it so incredibly easy for someone to take advantage of him in order to turn something into their favor. He's a bit slow on the uptake and honestly wouldn't even realize someone were trying to take advantage of him. Much less that someone would have the heart to do such a thing.

Outside of his easily manipulative personality, Automata is a good boy. Very sweet to his Moms. Though he feels a special connection with Soeri, that he's not sure how to explain. [ Though this isn't to be misunderstood, he loves both his Mother's equally <3 ] He spends a bit more time with Soeri trying to coax her from her shell, and working the 'kinks' out of her walking. He just can't grasp his head around the concept that its impossible for her to walk correctly. [ As a kit it will be more that she's hurt as a concept ... but as he grows up he'll just be determined that something can be done to fix her. ]

Prompt: 1

The house was creaky and honestly a bit dusty, but none of that seemed to bother Automata. He actually seemed to like all of that, despite what some of his siblings might think. He felt it gave the house a little something extra! Like spirit, and well it needed that! But today there was something off about the house. He could hear Momma Soeri mumbling in another room, but he knew for a fact that Momma Kora had left only a small while ago to go out for a bit. And his siblings weren't around ... he was sure of that. He couldn't smell a single one of them! So then, what was it that Momma was speaking to?

Tip toeing slowly into the room, Automata made sure to place his paw prints lightly on the creaky wood. Making sure to avoid the planks that made those extra loud creaks, if those went off he would for sure be caught. And he was investigating today! Good investigators never got busted! Now in tune with his feline instincts, he slunk low to the ground, his body slinking around the planks of wood like it was laden with booby traps. And well ... it kinda was!

Finally he could hear and see his Mom pefectly clear, though what he didn't see was who she was talking to! She giggled and commented, even made strange gestures as though she were playing with something. But there was just nothing there! Cocking his head to the side, he tried to look at this problem from a different angle. But still he encountered the same problems once again, there was no one there. Perhaps a closer look would help him out?

Just .... a little .... bit ...clo -

CREEEEEAAAAAAAAKKKKKKK

The kit froze in his paw steps as the floor made the loudest creak in the world. He was positive that noodles on the other side of the world had heard it! What was he going to do now?! Nearly cowering in fear, he watched as his Mother turned to him, and as she did a strange glint moved with her. The kit nearly did a double take to ensure he wasn't seeing things, but still it was there. He could see right through it, although it seemed to distort the image behind it a bit. What exactly was it?

S-Should he ask his Mother? She didn't seem to see him, as she had now turned her attention back to the strange thing he'd just taken notice of. O-Or should he tell someone else? What if they thought he was crazy?! Or worse - what if they thought Mom was crazy?!

M-Maybe he should ask Momma Kora?! But then how long before she came home? Could he keep this a secret until she did?! The little kit was trembling from head to toe as he scampered his little self out of the room as quickly as possible.

For now his lips would remain sealed, but for how long would that last?

Future Plots:

- More interaction with Soeri for sure - basically just Physical Therapy and Motivation!
- I want to develop this idea of whether or not he has the ability to see the things his Mother does. I sort of touch base with it in the prompt .. but i'm not sure if that's the true direction I want to go or not. I definitely want him to meet some ghost noodles, and expand out from there, to those who have ghost familiars ... etc.
- More potential plots depending on which end of the spectrum he ends up on from the above mentioned plot.
- A forced move out! Because if his parents don't make him ... he's likely to never leave. Automata is definitely a clinger >w> His Mom's will have to cut the cord or they'll be stuck with him FOREVEH
- Lightbulb Moment! I want him to have the sudden moment of clarity where he realizes everyone has been manipulating him. And from there, I want it to develop into something far darker for him. Perhaps he withdraws into himself? Becomes a bitter hateful fox? A drunk? *shrugs* Gonna weigh heavily on the types of interactions I can snag for him in this time frame.
