What did he get into?
Borra watched as Mira was taken away from her father and then quietly taken away to where he assumed was her bed. Making sure to acknowledge that the boys were picky about what they had to eat, and then warned that he wasn't to let his guard down. He almost laughed at that, rather sure of himself that this wouldn't be hard at all. All he needed to do was pull out his lute and perhaps play a game with them to get them settled. Give them an activity so he could get dinner ready, then they could play music and sing alongs before he tucked them all to bed to sleep. No problem right?
Giving a wave good bye to the parents as they informed him they would see him in the morning he wished them safe travels before he closed the door to the inn. Everything....was very quiet. Something about that was almost disturbing it was as if a damn was holding back a tidal wave of energy, for as soon as Borra turned out...Baroke gave a bleat and bolted.
Astounded Borra watched as the events unfolded before his eyes. Where the three boys were before standing all together they had now dashed after the raoti each one loudly proclaiming that they got to play with the animal first. The pet himself was fleeing out of stark panic as the loud boys now crashing around behind it was probably a terrifying sight.
It took a moment for Borra to register what was going on and in that delay a chair was toppled over, one boy crashed into a shelf as Baroke turned suddenly and fled down the length. The third was closing in.
Placing his fingers in his mouth Borra gave a sharp whistle, which his pet understood which was 'come to me' whilst it merely startled the three boys still. Silence fell over the scene although there was a shriek of girlish laughter as it was Lanara who managed to grasp Baroke for her own. Gathering the animal who was startled to find himself in her grasp instead of Borra's.
Trying not to sigh he smiled and tried to ...handle the situation.
"Verise could you help Lanara with Baroke? He looks a bit squished." Borra enlisted the eldest's help right away, as he didn't want Baroke running around causing the boys to get all excited again. Turning he then faced the three boys who were now dusting themselves off and eyeing their younger sister jealously.
"Race, Jerrad, Kair...I told you that you couldn't be rough right? Or Baroke wouldn't want to play? So none of you will get to play with him right now until we clean up the mess you boys caused." Trying to be firm but fair he was smiling as he moved towards them.
"Why? This isn't our home..its just an inn the owner will clean it up." Stated Kair who looked completely unwilling to help out in the manner.
"Yeah.." Piped up Race, "Let them clean it up. I want to play with the raoti now." A stomp of the foot announced the impatience of the second boy.
"I think I hurt my elbow.... Hey look! I am bleeding!" Chimed in Jerrad who seemed entirely too excited about the fact he was hurt and now his two other brothers crowded him to look at his 'battle wound' . It slowly dawned on Borra how this was going to go, the three boys didn't respect anyone it seemed except their parents.
"Now I am sure your parents wouldn't be happy if you left this place a mess. You made the mess so you have to clean it up." He tried to reinforce the concept that their parents disapproval may snap them into paying attention. Instead they briefly flickered their gaze at their babysitter before going back to Jerrad's bleeding arm. Apparently it wasn't a big enough threat to force them to behave. Giving a slight sigh he knew he would need to bandage up Jerrad's arm, hopefully they would let him.
"Alright now lets clean you up Jerrad, we can't have you bleeding all over the place." Borra continued as he went to approach the triplets who all glared at him. Obviously they didn't trust him or like him which struck Borra as odd.
"No. Don't touch me." Jerrad proclaimed his voice going a little high as if he might start screaming if Borra got any closer. His two brothers went to act like bodyguards getting between him and his injured charge. Licking his lips he looked over to Verise who was still with her little sister who was still holding onto Baroke as if he was a large stuffed animal. The poor raoti looked like he was in distress ...but Verise was able to keep her sister from squishing him too hard.
"Verise, do you think you could help your brother? Then I think its time we all go upstairs and make something to eat." Borra enlisted the eldest to help out even though it meant leaving poor Baroke at the mercy of Lanara. Torn at who to pay more attention to the young man moved over to where the little girl was and smiled at her, all the while trying to keep an eye on the boys as their eldest sister when to talk to them.
"Lanara you know you can let Baroke go...he won't run away but he doesn't look very comfy being squished like that."
Young innocent eyes looked up at Borra, though she was smiling as she looked down to the raoti and gave him another powerful squeeze. The roati bleated and struggled weakly as it didn't want to hurt her.
"But ..he will go." She stated the obvious as it looked as if the raoti would bolt as soon as he was given a chance.
"I promise you can play with Baroke some more, but its time to eat. Arn't you hungry?" Borra prodded, hoping that food would entice the girl to release his beloved pet, although she managed to just tighten her vice lick grip on him instead.
A sudden and very loud argument erupted from behind him, and a small shriek was launched into the air causing the poor man to jump. Turning he saw the three brothers ganging up on their older sister, obviously talks between them had gotten hot and they felt the need to pinch and climb on her to force her to the ground.
Straightening in alarm Borra rushed over, grabbing one arm and hauling one of the boys off (although who he wasn't quite sure in his panic). Removing a second one though now that both his hands were full keeping the two boys from running away from him. He didn't like being physical with children but in this instance he couldn't afford to let them go off where they would likely go after his pet again. At least Baroke with just with Lanara...who just didn't know how to hold him properly.
"Let go!"
"Yea! " The two boys complained rather loudly as they tried to use their own hands to get Borra to release from their wrists. The third was now losing the fight against their older and stronger sister, although he was now pulling on her hair causing her to raise her voice again.
"That is enough, your sister was just trying to help. Now I need you two to calm down before I will let go. Now Race.."
"I'm Race.." The boy on his right scrunched his nose as if being confused with one of his triplets was unforgivable.
"Now Jerrad..." Borra scrambled or another name though was lucky to have actually addressed the right one.
"Jerrad you need to stop fighting with your sister. It's time to make dinner so please get off of her, and let her tend your arm." The poor man was grasping at straws, there were just too many kids for him to look after...it was a foreign concept since normally children flocked to him, but then again he knew all the kids in the village. They liked Borra, liked to play games with him and listen to him play his lute.
A cry came from upstairs..Mira was awake.
Once the battle between siblings was over and the two boys stopped resisting his grasp he finally let go. Taking a deep breath they all looked to where Mira would of been sleeping, as if they could look through walls. Everyone went quiet as the sound of Mira's wail was enough to sober the mood.
"Alright, lets all go upstairs. I will make you dinner after I go get Mira alright?" Borra instructed and strangely they all nodded their heads and started to move in the direction of the staircase.
